  • The inner automorphism groups of quandles are related to the classification problem of quandles. The inner automorphism group of a quandle is generated by inner automorphisms which are presented by columns in the operation table of the quandle. In this paper, we describe inner automorphisms of an abelian extension of a quandle by expressing columns of the operation table of the extended quandle as columns of the operation table of the original quandle. Such a description will be helpful in studying inner automorphism groups of abelian extensions of quandles.

  • As power consumption increases, more power utilities are required to satisfy the demand and consequently results in tremendous cost to build the utilities. Another issue in construction of power utilities to meet the peak demand is an inefficiency caused by surplus power during non-peak time. Therefore, most power company considers power demand management with time-based electricity rate policy which applies different rate over time. This paper considers an optimal machine operation problem under the time-based electricity rates. In TOC (Theory of Constraints), the production capacities of all machines are limited to one of the bottleneck machine to minimize the WIP (work in process). In the situation, other machines except the bottleneck are able to stop their operations without any throughput loss of the whole manufacturing line for saving power utility cost. To consider this problem three integer programming models are introduced. The three models include (1) line shutdown, (2) block shutdown, and (3) individual machine shutdown. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed IP models through diverse experiments, by comparing with a TOC-based machine operation planning considered as a current model.

  • A Microgrid is a private small-scale power system composed of distributed energy resources (DERs), storage devices and loads. And it is expected that the Microgrid will come into wide use in the near future. For this, the establishment of the Microgrid operation methodology is a very important problem. Especially, the Microgrid is greatly different from existing private small-scale power systems because of the multiple participants. Therefore, the Microgrid operation considered various requirements according to multiple participants is more complicated than the operation of existing private small-scale power systems. In this paper, Microgrid operation methodology based on a market environment is suggested. Through case studies, the effectiveness of the suggested methodology is verified.

  • The objective of this paper is to propose an Extended AND-OR Graph (EAOG)-driven inferential simulation mechanism with which decision makers engaged in electronic commerce (EC) can effectively deal with complicated decision making problem. In the field of traditional expect systems research, AND-OR Graph approach cannot be effectively used in the EC problems in which real-time problem-solving property should be highly required. In this sense, we propose the EAOG inference mechanism for EC problem-solving in which heurisric knowledge necessary for intelligent EC problem-solving can be represented in a form of matrix. The EAOG method possesses the following three characteristics. 1. Realtime inference: The EAOG inference mechanism is suitable for the real-time inference because its computational mechanism is based on matrix computation.2. Matrix operation: All the subjective knowledge is delineated in a matrix form, so that inference process can proceed based on the matrix operation which is computationally efficient.3. Bi-directional inference: Traditional inference method of expert systems is based on either forward chaining or based on either and computational efficiency. However, the proposed EAOG inference mechanism is generically bi-directional without loss of both speed and efficiency. We have proved the validity of our approach with several propositions and an illustrative EC example.

  • This study is concerned with the operation algorithm and power switch drive circuit for DC Reactor Type High-Tc Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL). In the case of SFCL, Power switching operation algorithm are very important problem. So, this driving will determine the performance of SFCL. In this paper, we provide a simple algorithm and easy drive circuit. Through experiment we found that ideal is right.

  • Heavy load start but light load operation is a common case in practical drive applications. When an induction motor is employed for such applications, its rated power is usually chosen according to the heavy load start. Then, during light load operation, its efficiency and power factor are low. To solve this problem, it is proposed to adjust the motor windings from the startup to the normal operation conditions. In this paper, arrangement of the adjustable windings is introduced, air gap field with different windings is investigated, and steady state operation performance under various loads is examined. It can be seen that by using proper winding arrangement both startup and operation performances are satisfactory.

  • The widening national capital area of Korea has caused a traffic jam problem with increasing commuting hours. In addition, as the economic crisis goes on, the people moving to the outside of a city has increased. So we expect that the expansion of this metropolitan area will do grow and it will cause a more severe traffic jam in the near future. Therefore, We will study about 'Rapid Railroad Operation in Metropolitan Area' to solve this problem and improve rail's competitive power as a reasonable transportation method. The Rapid Railroad can sharply reduce commuting hours. Also, it is more eco-friendly transportation than the others. Through many cases revealed in both domestics and overseas, we will solve the problem of a traffic jam getting senous m metropolitan area. After studying successful cases of overseas, rapid railroad, such as France and Japan, we will study domestic cases of Yongsan$\sim$Dong-inchoen, Guro$\sim$Cheonan and Gaehwa$\sim$Sin-nonhyeon, and comparison will do made among these case. In conclusion, The introduction of Rapid Railroad show the effective plan for strengthen the competitiveness and solve the traffic problem.

  • A railway security detection system is very important. There are many safety factors that directly affect the safe operation of trains. Security detection technology can be divided into passive and active approaches. In this paper, we will first survey the railway security systems and compare them. We will also propose a subway security detection system with computer vision technology, which can detect three kinds of problems: the spark problem, the obstacle problem, and the lost screw problem. The spark and obstacle detection methods are unique in our system. In our experiment using about 900 input test images, we obtained about a 99.8% performance in F- measure for the spark detection problem, and about 94.7% for the obstacle detection problem.

  • This paper presents the method for the placement and operation of dispersed generator systems(DGs) using fuzzy goal programming in distribution systems. For the placement and operation of DGs the problem is formulated with reduction of search spaces and flexibility of system situations. Especially, the original objective function and constraints are transformed by fuzzy goal programming to evaluate their imprecise nature for the criterion of power loss minimization, the number or total capacity of DGs and the bus voltage deviation, and then solve the problem using genetic algorithm.

  • Motion estimation is a core part of most video compression systems since it directly affects the output video quality and the encoding time. The full search (FS) technique gives the highest visual quality but has the problem of a significant computational load. To solve this problem, we present in this paper a modified median (MMED) operation and advanced search strategies for fast motion estimation. The proposed MMED operation includes a temporally co-located motion vector (MV) to select an appropriate initial candidate. Moreover, we introduce a search procedure that reduces the number of thresholds and simplifies the early termination conditions for the determination of a final MV. The experimental results show that the proposed approach achieves substantial speedup compared with the conventional methods including the motion vector field adaptive search technique (MVFAST) and predictive MVFAST (PMVFAST). The proposed algorithm also improves the PSNR values by increasing the correlation between the MVs, compared with the FS method.
