  • There is a growing interest in EH-WSN (energy-harvesting wireless sensor networks) that can solve power problems in wireless sensor networks. In EH-WSN, on-off duty cycling is being studied in order to balance energy harvesting and consumption. However, the urgency of the sensed data and the energy harvesting rate in the environmental monitoring EH-WSN are important factors to determine the network performance. Therefore, it is necessary to control the duty-cycle period according to the importance of the sensed data and the energy harvesting rate in addition to simply maintaining the balance of the power. In this paper, we analyze the problem of on-off duty cycling in EH-WSN for environmental monitoring and propose an adaptive duty-cycle scheduling scheme considering the priority of sensed data and energy harvesting rate, where the priority of sensed data determined by sensed value and changing rate. The performance of scheduling scheme was analyzed by computer simulations.

  • The underlaying communication scheme in 5G cellular network is a very promising resource sharing scheme, and it is an effective scheme for improving service performance of 5G and reducing communication load between a cellular link and a device to device (D2D) link. This paper proposes the algorithm to minimize the resource interference that occurs when performing 5G-based multi-class service on gNB(gNodeB) and the cooperative priority-based resource allocation scheduling scheme (CPRAS) to maximize 5G communication service according to the analyzed control conditions of interference. The proposed CPRAS optimizes communication resources for each device, and it optimizes resource allocation according to the service request required for 5G communication and the current state of the network. In addition, the proposed scheme provides a function to guarantee giga-class service by minimizing resource interference between a cellular link and a D2D link in gNB. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme is better system performance than the Pure cellular and Force cellular schemes. In particular, the higher the priority and the higher the cooperative relationship between UE(User Equipment), the proposed scheme shows the more effective control of the resource interference.

  • For the efficient transmission of burst data in the time varying wireless channel, opportunistic scheduling is one of the important techniques to maximize multiuser diversity gain. In this paper, we propose a distributed opportunistic scheduling scheme for wireless LAN network. A proportional fair scheduling, which is one of the opportunistic scheduling schemes, is used for centralized networks, whereas we design distributed proportional fair scheduling (DPFS) scheme and medium access control with distributed manner. In the proposed DPFS scheme, each receiver estimates channel condition and calculates independently its own priority with probabilistic manner, which can reduce excessive probing overhead required to gather the channel conditions of all receivers. We evaluate the proposed DPFS using extensive simulation and simulation results show that DPFS obtains higher network throughput than conventional scheduling schemes and has a flexibility to control the fairness and throughput by controlling the system parameter.

  • Real-time operating systems have been used in various computing environments, where a job must be completed in its deadline, with various conditions, such as effective scheduling policies, the minimum of an interrupt delay, and the solutions of priority inversion problems, that should be perfectly satisfied to design and develop optimal real-time operating systems. Up to now, in order to solve priority inversion problems among several those conditions. There have been two representative protocols: basic priority inheritance protocol and priority ceiling emulation protocol. However, these protocols cannot solve complicated priority inversion problems. In this paper, we design a protocol, called recursive priority inheritance (RPI), protocol that effectively solves the complicated priority inversion problems. Our proposed protocol is also implemented in the Linux kernel and is compared with other existing protocols in the aspect of qualitative analysis.

  • As the substantial increment in program complexity and appearance of mega program, the programs need to be divided to small tasks with multiple partitions and performed with a priority based scheduling. And also, a program development has to be progressed according to diversify of development environment. For instance, there are some restrictions upon O/S environment such as embedded O/S or windows. Therefore, the adaptive scheduling technique which performs multiple task partitioning process, regardless environment or O/S, is suggested. In this study, In this study, the adaptive scheduling technique algorithm and its applied examples are described.

  • This study focuses on the problem of scheduling wafer lots of several product families in the deposition workstation in a semiconductor wafer fabrication facility. There are multiple identical parallel machines in the deposition workstation, and two types of setups, record-dependent setup and family setup, may be required at the deposition machines. A record-dependent setup is needed to find optimal operational conditions for a wafer lot on a machine, and a family setup is needed between processings of different families. We suggest two-phase heuristic algorithms in which a priority-rule-based scheduling algorithm is used to generate an initial schedule in the first phase and the schedule is improved in the second phase. Results of computational tests on randomly generated test problems show that the suggested algorithms outperform a scheduling method used in a real manufacturing system in terms of the sum of weighted flowtimes of the wafer lots.

  • In this paper, we propose a new scheduling method without timing covert channel of real-time transaction for secure database systems that implement mandatory access control. Our scheduling method use the wait queue based on security level to remove timing covert channel. And it use priority queue that consider transaction type, deadline, and weight. Therefore, the proposed scheduling method prevents timing covert channel because it is kept noninterference between transactions with different security level, and maximizes the sum of the weight of transactions that satisfy its deadline. The simulation results, is a comparison of traditional methods, show that our scheduling method is improved to 30%.

  • Most booking techniques make a reservation without customer's preference on internet. These techniques have booking problems not to improve customer's preference in the service industry. We have tried to apply object-based scheduling technique to performing art reservation. For customer's satisfaction, we have considered customer's preferences in the reservation scheduling. The scheduling technique for performing art reservation proposed in this thesis is based on object-oriented concepts. To consider the over all satisfaction, the events of every object are alloted to the sitting plan board along its priority. To minimize backtracking or not to fail the allotment of events, we have scheduled to rise customer's preference in the scheduling.

  • Energy consumption is an important design parameter for battery-operated embedded systems. Dynamic power management is one of the most well-known low-power design techniques. This paper proposes an online realtime scheduling algorithm, which we call energy-aware realtime scheduling using slack stealing (EARSS). The proposed algorithm gives the highest priority to the task with the largest degree of device overlap when the slack time exists. Scheduling result enables an efficient power management by reducing the number of state transitions. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can save the energy by 23% on average compared to the DPM-enabled system scheduled by the EDF algorithm.
