  • This study investigated methodological principles of childhood education in the Choson Dynasty. The study was conducted through review of literature, particularly through the analysis of the textbooks used in childhood education and the Confucianism Classics. The ultimate goal of childhood education in the Choson Dynasty was the moral completion of human beings through daily practice. The methodological principles of childhood education were the principles of learning by imitation, early education, the inseparability of knowing and doing, education for Ye(禮) in daily life, sex-role education, and teaching with consideration of the developmental characteristics of the children. The scientific validity of such methods of traditional education is verified in terms of its many points corresponding to important principles of modern education.

  • This study aimes to understand the principles in Theo Van Doesburg's architectural concept. Generally, Theo Van Doesburg has been thought that he betrayed De Stijl by acting contrary to the Neo-Plasticism which was constituted in early De Stijl by Mondrian and himself and by suggesting opposite one, Elementarism. Therefore this study tried to understand the principles that make his architectural concept, confirming the background of Elementarism. After studing relation, which Theo Van Doesburg has used, between space and color, it is concluded that he has unchanged principles of architectural concept from early De Stijl to last, opposite to general appreciation. So, Theo Van Doesburg acted to maintain equilibrium that exists for balancing the two elemental forces which contrast each other in relation between space and color. The equilibrium which he looked for aims to constitute harmonized dynamic space by dynamic rythem of equilibrium instead of Neo-Plastic effect. And using color, which used to be producing dynamic effect, he intended to maintain static effect for making dynamic rythem of equllibrium by the principles he made.

  • Recently, new concept and paradigm of 'Environmental Sustainability' is taking a growing interest in environmental planning and design. This study is to establish the environmental sustainability principles, based on the concept of ESSD, and to develop the evaluation model of environmental sustainability for korean rural housing estates. A sustainability indices system, which is composed of 5 principles, 16 categories, an 37 estimation items, was finally established. Five principles of environmental sustainability for rural housing estate were. 'Sustainable Land Use', 'Interdependence of Men and Nature', 'Ecological Principles and Diversity', 'Efficient use of Energy and Recycling', and ' Minimizing Environmental Pollution'. And weighting values of each indicators, such as estimation items, categories, and principles, were estimated, based on the result of AHP etc. The questinnaire survey was conducted for experts of four related major fields. Finally, the validity and reliability of the sustainability indices system were verified.

  • This study was performed to approach Korean food proverbs from the stance of food ethics. Both modern principles and traditional principles of food ethics were applied to select proverbs. The modern principles include a respect for life, justice, environmental preservation, and the priority of safety. The traditional principles were longevity and good health, poverty (escaping) and wealth (pursuing), eating luck and fortune, priority of food, virtue, and taste and quality (economics). All the principles except environmental preservation and the priority of safety have adequate food proverbs, since environmental disruption and food safety were not serious issues in the past.

  • To assure the safety of urban railway train, it is necessary to observe the specified driving principles under an essential condition during running on tracks. These principles arises from a great deal of experience for a long time and include safe distance between trains, the railway signaling, block system, regular block of the highest priority and driving prohibition of simple railway vehicle in the main track, etc. Therefore, it is important to apply these principles to domestic urban railway driving regulations and railway vehicle driving regulations. However, domestic urban railway administrator established his own operation rules within the regulation. In this study, domestic urban railway administration's own rules are examined and the appropriate driving regulation on the safe driving principles is proposed.

  • Objectives : This study was conducted to establish a standard and classify suitability in the treatment of limb impediment among the children with development disabilities using bee venom and eight principles herbal acupuncture. Methods : 10 patients with pediatric development disabilities with limb impediment as the main symptoms were chosen in this study. Bee venom herbal acupuncture and eight principles herbal acupuncture treatments were rendered and evaluated responses as well as pursuing most proper treatment methods. Results : 1. Bee venom herbal acupuncture showed a significant effects when used as supplement treatment technique for the children with partial movement, but insignificant for the children whom were unable to move. 2. Bee venom was effective for severe limb impediment and limb asthenia, whileas eight principles herbal acupuncture effective for mild limb impediment and spasticity. 3. Bee venom herbal acupuncture used in conjunction with eight principles herbal acupuncture for treating limb impediment among the children with development disabilities showed general improvement by intensifying muscular strength.

  • Some simple devices to demonstrate important hydraulic principles to students are necessitated in fluid mechanics or hydraulics classes. These devices should\ulcorner be easy to make and operate with inexpensive cost. The writer has studied some simple demonstrhation apparatus of hydraulic principles which were made with cheap materials. The purpose of this paper is to present the results of the study. In this paper, hydraulic principles that can be demonstrated by using these apparatus are described, the plans of them are presented, and how to make them and what materiaIs to be used are briefly explained. An axial-flow fan is a device with which the flow of air is supplied for several purposes. It consists of a duct, a fan and a guide vane. It may be possible to demonstrate the principles of propeIler, drag force, lift, etc.

  • The purpose of this study is to comprehend how traditional design theory, 'design elements and principles' have been applied to space design, taking interior designs of restaurants as the subjects of the research. Furthermore, this study intends to provide practical help to the restaurant designers and students who major in interior design, by summarizing the applications case by case. For the analysis, 10 restaurant projects were selected to which 'design elements and principles' were well applied. In order to widen the scope of application cases, this study selected four Korean restaurant projects, and three US and Japan restaurant projects, respectively. Through the analysis, it was found that many unexpected results can be produced when various elements composing a space are combined together, including not only two-dimensional elements such as plane and color, texture, and pattern but also three-dimensional elements and architectural elements composing interior space. Moreover, I became to have confidence that 'design elements and principles' would sustain the value in most design parts including interior design in the future as well.

  • We compare the approaches to natural numbers and the induction principles in Frege's Grundgesetze and in systems thereafter. We start with an illustration of Frege's approach and then explain the use of induction principles in Zermelo-Fraenkel set theory and in modern type theories such as Calculus of Inductive Constructions. A comparison among the different approaches to induction principles is also given by analyzing them in respect of predicativity and impredicativity.

  • This study aims to suggest principles of making example sentences when describing grammar items and examines aspects of example sentences presented in Korean integrated textbooks. The requirements of example sentences in grammar descriptions have been mentioned in several preceding research. However, there is little research which focuses particularly on example sentences in grammar descriptions and examines the appropriacy of example sentences presented in Korean integrated textbooks. Therefore, this study sets up five principles to make appropriate example sentences and examine if these principles are in line with example sentences in Korean integrated textbooks published recently. Comprehension and use of grammar items are two significant aspects when making sentences. Thus, example sentences should show meaning, form and pragmatic information unambiguously. The findings show that most textbooks follow the five principles. However, some example sentences do not meet the requirements to be effective examples. In particular, the integrated textbooks need to include more example sentences related to the topic and the goals of the unit considering the role of grammar.
