The electrochemical chlorine evolution reaction (CER) is an important electrochemical reaction and has been widely used in chlor-alkali electrolysis, on-site generation of ClO-, and Cl2-mediated electrosynthesis. Although precious metal-based mixed metal oxides (MMOs) have been used as CER catalysts for more than half a century, they intrinsically suffer from a selectivity problem between the CER and parasitic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Hence, the design of selective CER electrocatalysts is critically important. In this review, we provide an overview of the fundamental issues related to the electrocatalysis of the CER and design strategies for selective CER electrocatalysts. We present experimental and theoretical methods for assessing the active sites of MMO catalysts and the origin of the scaling relationship between the CER and the OER. We discuss kinetic analysis methods to understand the kinetics and mechanisms of CER. Next, we summarize the design strategies for new CER electrocatalysts that can enhance the reactivity of MMO-based catalysts and overcome their scaling relationship, which include the doping of MMO catalysts with foreign metals and the development of non-precious metal-based catalysts and atomically dispersed metal catalysts.

This study investigated the mechanical properties of precious metal-ceramic alloy joined by the laser-welding and the soldering compared with the parent metal. Twenty-four tensile specimens were cast in precious metal-ceramic alloy and divided into three groups of eight. All specimens in the control group(group 1) were left in the as-cast condition. Group 2 and 3 were the test specimens, which were sectioned at the center. Eight of sectioned specimens were joined by soldering with a propane-oxygen torch, and the remaining specimens were joined by laser-welding. After joining, each joint diameter was measured, and then tested to tensile failure on an Instron machine. Failure loads were recorded, and then fracture stress(ultimate tensile strength), 0.2% yield strength and % elongation calculated. These data for three groups were subjected to a one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA). Neuman-Keuls post hoc test was then used to determine any significant differences between groups. The fracture locations, fracture surfaces were examined by SEM(scanning electron microscope). The results were as follows: 1) The tensile strength and 0.2% yield strength of the soldered group($280.28{\pm}49.35MPa$, $160.24{\pm}26.67MPa$) were significantly less than both the as-cast group($410.99{\pm}13.07MPa$, $217.82{\pm}17.99MPa$) and the laser-welded group($383.56{\pm}59.08MPa$, $217.18{\pm}12.96MPa$). 2) The tensile strength and 0.2% yield strength of the laser-welded group were about each 98%, 99.7% of the as-cast group. There were no statistically significant differences in these two groups(p<0.05). 3) The percentage elongations of the soldered group($3.94{\pm}2.32%$) and the laser-welded group($5.06{\pm}1.08%$) were significantly less than the as-cast group($14.25{\pm}4.05%$) (p<0.05). 4) The fracture of the soldered specimens occurred in the solder material and many porosities were showed at the fracture site. 5) The fracture of the laser-welded specimens occurred also in the welding area, and lack of fusion and a large void was observed at the center of the fracture surface. However, the laser-welded specimens showed a ductile failure mode like the as- cast specimens. The results of this study indicated that the tensile strengths of the laser-welded joints were comparable to those of the as-cast joints and superior to those of the soldered joints.
The most recent research in precious metal processing is found in the increasing use of heap leaching for the extraction of gold from low grade ores and tailing dumps because heap leaching has several advantages compared to traditional milling. They include simplicity, lower capital and operating costs, faster starter-up time and environmental safety. In this paper, an attempt has been made to provide an overview of important factors involved in the implementation of heap leaching technology as a vehicle for gold extraction from its low grade ores. Brief discussions of the various important elements to this process has been made to ascertain the heap leaching characteristics, such as heap leaching chemistry, natural factors, ore preparation, heap and pad construction, solution collection system, pond system, metal extraction, and economical consideration.

The design methods using patterns have been used in various design fields. Both utility and results have also developed a lot, so that patterns occupy an essential parts in designs. Patterns are often used in various techniques in designing ornaments. However, both time and excessive effort concentrations restricted ornaments designs due to the nature of the craft production techniques by repeated patterns. Therefore, in this study, the traditional craft methods are combined by using computer programs in the applications, repetitions, arrangements of patterns for the manufacturing of ornaments.
Due to the intermittency of renewable energy sources, a need to store and transport energy will increase. Hydrogen production through water electrolysis will provide an excellent way to supplement the intermittency of renewable energy sources. While alkaline water electrolysis is currently the most mature technology, it has drawbacks of low current density, large footprint, gas crossover, etc. The PEM water electrolysis has potential to replace the alkaline electrolysis. However, expensive catalyst material used in the PEM electrolysis has been the bottleneck of widespread use. In this review, we have reviewed recent efforts to reduce catalyst loading in PEM water electrolysis. In core-shell nanostructures, the precious metal catalyst forms a shell while heteroatoms form a core. In this way, the catalyst loading can be significantly reduced while maintaining the catalytic activity. In another approach, a corrosion-resistant support is utilized, which provides a stable platform to impregnate precious metal catalyst.
The purpose of this study was to discover the elemental change of the tracemetal surface of the precious porcelain alloy. The alloy was degudent H. For this purpose, the following experiment was made the analysis of the elemental change of the surface precious gold porcelain alloy were done by EDXA, and EPMA. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the shear bond strength for non-precious alloy castings without beryllium, which has been used repeatedly for economical reason. Methods: The Schmitz-Schulmeyer test method was used to evaluate the shear bond strength between the non-beryllium Ni-Cr alloy Vera Bond 2V(AlbaDent, Inc. USA) and the Ceramco 3(Dentstply, York, PA, USA) porcelain powder. The maximum loading and shear bond strength were measured. The average shear strength(MPa) was analyzed with the one-way ANOVA and the Tukey's test( =.05). The fracture specimens were examined using Microscope to determine the failure pattern. Results: The mean shear bond strengths(SD) in MPa were group A(100% new metal) control 28.72(3.31); group B(50% new + 50% reused) 27.28(1.13); group C(all reused) 26.61(5.47). Microscope examination showed that group A and B specimens presented mixed failure, and group C specimens showed adhesive failure. Conclusion: In conclusion, forward this non-precious alloy dose not contain beryllium for how should use a more systematic study and for future advanced research is performed giving effect to be considered desirable.
In terms of resources recycling and resolving waste disposal problems, it is very important to recover precious metals like Au, Ag and Pd and valuable metals like Cu, Sn and Ni from the scraps of waste electrical and electronic equipment(WEEE) that consists of detective electrical and electronic parts discarded during manufacturing electrical and electronic equipments and waste electrical and electronic parts generated during disassembling them. In general, the scraps of WEEE are composed of various metals and alloys as well as refractory oxides and plastic components. Precious and valuable metals from the scraps of WEEE can be recovered by gas-phase-volatilization, hydrometallurgical, or pyrometallurgical processes. However, the gas-phase-volatilization and hydrometallurgical processes have been suggested but not yet commercialized. At the present time, most of the commercial plants for recovering precious and valuable metals from the scraps of WEEE adopt pyrometallurgical processes. Therefore, in this paper, the technical and environmental aspects on the important pyrometallurgical processes through literature survey are reviewed, and the scale-up result of a new pyrometallurgical process for recovering the precious and valuable metals contained in the scraps of WEEE using waste copper slag is presented.
The catalytic activity of precious metals(Rh, Pd, Pt) and nickel catalysts supported on ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3\;and\;CeO_2$ in the partial combustion of methane(PCM) to syngas was investigated based on the product distribution in a fixed bed now reactor under atmospheric condition and also on analysis results by SEM, XPS, TPD, BET, and XRD. The activity of the catalysts based on the syngas yield increased in the sequence $Rh(5)/CeO_2{\geq}Ni(5)/CeO_2>>Rh(5)/Al_2O_3>Pd(5)/Al_2O_3>Ni(5)/Al_2O_3$. Compared to the precious catalysts, the syngas yield and stability of the $Ni(5)/CeO_2$ catalyst were almost similar to $(5)/CeO_2$ catalyst, and superior to these of any other catalysts. The syngas yield of $Ni(5)/CeO_2$ catalyst was 90.66% at 1023 K. It could be suggested to be the redox cycle of the successive reaction and formation of active site, $Ni^{2-}$ and the lattice oxygen, $O^{2-}$ produced due to reduction of $Ce^{4-}$ to $Ce^{3-}$.

$LiCoO_2$ thin film has received diverse attention as cathodes material of thin-film micro-batteries. In this study, $LiCoO_2$ thin films were synthesized on Au substrates by sol-gel spin coating method and an annealing process. Their structures were studied using X-ray diffraction and Raman Spectroscopy. The particle morphologies of these thin films were observed by Scaning electron microscope. From the results of X-ray diffractometry and Raman Spectroscopy analyses, it was found that as-grown films had the structure of spinel (LT-$LiCoO_2$) and layered-Rock-salt (HT-$LiCoO_2$) at $550^{\circ}C$ and $750^{\circ}C$ respectively. The annealed films at $650^{\circ}C$ were presumed to be the mixed state of these two types. Throlugh the scanning electron microscope, It was estimated that the particle size in as-grown films at $750^{\circ}C$, were larger crystilline particle than in those at the other lower temperature and well distributed in the film.
