The Precast Concrete(PC) method was developed for a large production of a structure in Europe. Afterwards, this PC method has been applied to a structure and an outside Coating of buildings extensively. The outside Coating of the building applied this PC method is a method to put tiles or stones to base concrete. And there is a method to use paints for, so the expression of various patterns is possible. The Multi-Layer Coating is one of the methods to use paints. This Multi-Layer Coating method can show various designs of external appearance with Foam when it is made with the PC panel. Also, the paint film of the PC panel enables a splendid appearance, and a protective function of concrete is possible, too. Therefore, it makes good durability of the PC. Besides, maintenance is easy to manage because it is free from pollution when it uses metallic materials, stones, or any other materials. You might have no trouble in applying the Multi-Layer Coating method in order to save a merit of an outside Coating on the PC panel. However, the Multi-Layer Coating method used as a current outside Coating method has pollution and bad working environment because Oil Epoxy Resins have toxicity and flammability. Therefore, a lot of warnings are required for coating work in order to have appropriate quality because working hours are short, and production efficiency is low too. These reasons make the cost of construction of the Multi-Layer Coating method increase. And employers or designers may have problems in selecting this Multi-Layer Coating method. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to get activation of the Multi-Layer Coating method by offering improvement measures about the problems of the existing Multi-Layer Coating method.

Numerous studies showed that safety and serviceability of many concrete infrastructures and buildings built in 1970's have capacity less than their design capacities and thereby require immediate retrofitting. Currently, these aged concrete structure are being repaired using many repair and strengthening methods developed in the past. Therefore, in this study, a repairing and strengthening method for retrofitting high strength concrete columns that can effectively improve the performance of high strength concrete columns is developed. The square high strength concrete column's cross-sectional shape is modified to octagonal shape by attaching precast members on the surface of the column. Then, the octagonal column surface is wrapped using Carbon Fiber Sheets (CFS). The method allowed the maximum usage of confinement effect of externally wrapped CFS, which resulted in improved strength and ductility of repaired high strength concrete columns.
Filling materials poured into precast member joint are subjected to restraint stress by the precast member and joint reinforcement. The induced stress will likely cause cracks at early ages and performance degradation of the entire structure. To prevent these issues and design reasonable joints, it is very important to analyze and evaluate the restrained shrinkage cracks of filling materials at various restraint conditions. In this study, a new time zero-that defines the shrinkage development time of a filling material-is proposed to calculate the accurate amount of shrinkage. The tensile stresses and strengths at different ages were compared through the ring test (AASHTO PP34) to evaluate the crack potential of the restrained filling materials at various restraint conditions. The mixture which contained an expansive additive and a shrinkage reducing agent exhibited high resistance to shrinkage cracking owing to the high-drying shrinkage compensation effect. The high-performance, fiber-reinforced cement composite, and ultra-high-performance, fiber-reinforced cement composite yielded very high resistance to shrinkage and cracking owing to the pull-out property of steel fibers. To this end, multiple nonlinear regression analyses were conducted based on the test results. Accordingly, a modified tensile stress equation that considered both the geometric shape of the specimen and the intrinsic properties of the material is proposed.

The conventional brace system is generally accepted as the lateral load resisting system for steel structures due to efficient story drift control and economic feasibility. But lateral stiffness of the structure decreases when buckling happens to the brace in compression, so that it results in unstable structure with unstable hysteresis behavior through strength deterioration. Buckling restrained brace(BRB) system, in which steel core is confined by mortar/concrete-filled tube, represents stable behavior in the post-yield range because the core's buckling is restrained. So, seismic performance of BRB is much better than that of conventional brace system in point of energy absorption capacity, and it is applied the most in high seismicity regions as damper element. BRBs with various shaped-sections have been developed across the globe, but the shapes experimented in Korea are now quite limited. In this study, we considered built-up type of restraining member made up of precast reinforcement concrete and the steel core. we experimented the BRB according to AISC(2005) and evaluated seismic performances and hysteresis characteristics.

The PCT that supports the walls of long span temporary shoring facility is previously manufactured in the way of prestressing, and it which is composed of concrete is improved precast structure to satisfy enough stiffness. The components of PCT are manufactured as a fixed form, and they are close to the inner side of the wall of temporary shoring facility by fixed means in PCT. PCT system as support structure is that the ends of concrete filled segment members are united by the means of connection and also they have connection hole. In this study, PCT has enough bearing power for the long span temporary shoring facility, and also make the term of work reduce due to that the time of curing reduce through the method of precast.

Four types of horizontal joint were tested to investigate the difference with regards to the compressive behavior and strength. These include wedge-type joints (i)with and (ii)without transverse reinforcement against splitting failure of the panel concrete, and wedge-type joints (iii)with different widths of joint concrete (6cm vs 8cm) and (iv)closed platform joint. It was shown that the compressive strength of wedge-type joint is about 10% higher than that of closed-type (platform) joint. But the effect of transverse reinforcement and joint concrete widths on the strength of the joints turned out be negligible. Also, the moduli of elasticity in panel and joint are compared and the equivalent moduli of the whole wall are derived.

The behavior of the 3 hinged precast arch structure was investigated by comparing field measurements with numerical analyses performed for precast lining arch structures, which are widely used for the open-cut tunnel. According to the field measurements, the maximum vertical displacement occurred at the crown with upward displacements during the backfilling up to the crown of the arch and downward displacements at the backfill height above the crown. The final crown displacement was 19 mm upward from the original position. The horizontal displacement at the sidewall, which had a maximum horizontal displacement, occurred inward of the arch when compacting the backfill up to the crown and returned to the original position after completing the backfill construction. According to the analysis of displacement measurements, economical design is expected to be possible for precast arch structures compared to rigid concrete structures due to ground-structure interactions. Duncan model gave good results for the estimation of displacements and deformed shape of the tunnel according to the numerical analyses comparing with field measurements. The earth pressure coefficients calculated from the numerical analyses were 0.4 and 0.7 for the left and the right side of the tunnel respectively, which are agreed well with the eccentric load acting on the tunnel due to topographical condition and actual field measurements.

Low-carbon eco-friendly precast concrete (PC) box structure has been recently was developed as an low-cost infrastructure of near-surface transit system. The concrete of PC box was manufactured by industrial byproducts such as ground granulated blast furnace (GGBF) slag, flyash and rapid-cooling electric arc furnace (EAF) oxidizing slag, its mechanical property and durability were estimated in this study. Based on the mechanical and durability tests, it is found that low-carbon eco-friendly concrete shows high initial compressive strength, more than 90% of design strength (35MPa), and high resistance to salt-attack, chemical- attack and freeze-thaw. Therefore, low-carbon eco-friendly PC box concrete technology is expected to contribute to the railway with low environmental impact.
From several researches, recently, it was found that using hollowed precast concrete (HPC) column made more compact concrete casting in joint region possible than using normal solid PC (Precast concrete) column. Therefore, the rigidity of joints can be improved like those of monolithic reinforced concrete (RC). After filling the hollow with grout concrete, however, it is expected that the HPC column behaviors like composite structure since PC element and grout concrete have different materials as well as there is a contact surface between two elements. These may affect the structural behavior and strength of the composite column. A compressive strength test was performed for the HPC column with parameter of hollow ratio for the case with and without grout in the hollow and the result is presented in this paper. The hollow ratios in the test are 35, 50 and 59% of whole section of column. Concentrated axial force was applied to top of the specimens supported as pin connection for both ends. In addition, finite element (FE) analysis was performed to simulate the failure behavior of HPC column for axial compression. As a result, it was found that the hollow ratio did not affect the initial stiffness of HPC filled with grout regardless of the strength difference of HPC and grout. However the strength was increased inversely corresponding to the hollow ratio. The structural capacity of HPC without grout closely related to the hollow size. Especially, the local collapse governs the overall failure when the thickness of HPC is too thin. Based on these effect, a suitable equation was suggested for calculation of the compressive strength of HPC column with or without grout. FE analysis considering the contact surface between HPC and grout produced a good result matched to the test result.
To develop our original technology of concrete slab track, being widely accepted for new track, prefabricated concrete slab track, or precast concrete slab track has been developed. They have two different types according to slab shape and its dimensions, connection of slabs and connecting structure onto substructure. After the system design and successful performance evaluation in the laboratory, the trial installation on revenue line has been carried out. This paper is presenting the result of the trial installation and the performance tests in field. The performance tests have been performed as visual inspection for cracks and damages, measurement of track alignment and elastic behavior of track under passing trains. The performance test results during last 2 years have shown that no remarkable damages and settlements were found, and track alignment and elastic track behavior both exhibits good status.
