  • This study investigated the overall perceptions of pre-service school librarian teacher on the current education practicum through semi-structured in-depth interviews and suggested improvements to the educational practicum system. For this purpose, interview data were collected from 28 pre-service school librarian teacher (6 teachers' colleges, 14 taking teaching qualification courses, and 8 graduate school of education) who participated in educational practicum in school libraries, and a research method that combines qualitative analysis techniques with text network analysis was applied. The results of the study showed that pre-service school librarian teacher believe that educational practicum can prepare them for various field experiences and cultivate their ability to cope with situations they will encounter in the future. Through qualitative inquiry, we were able to identify their perceptions of school field practicum as a whole, their perceptions of the school field practicum, and their perceptions of educational service activities. Based on this, to improve the current problems of educational practice, we suggested expanding the period of school internship program, distributing the time, establishing a full-time practice system, having continuous discussions with field teachers, and developing a systematic school field practicum.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the effects of a simulation practicum using standardized patients on nursing student's communication skills, critical thinking disposition and clinical competency. Methods: A one group pretest-posttest design was used. The participants consisted of 45 fourth year nursing students at G university. This study developed 2 scenarios for patients with diabetes mellitus and the simulation was conducted for an average of approximately 14 hours. Data were analyzed with descriptive analysis, t-tests and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ using SPSS 21.0 program. Results: Communication skills, clinical competency and self-confidence for diabetic care were statistically improved; however, critical thinking disposition was not improved compared to that of pretest. Conclusion: Simulation practicum using standardized patients may be effective in enhancing communication skills, clinical competency and self-confidence for diabetic care among nursing students. In addition, standardized patients simulation program to promote the critical thinking needs to be developed and further research related to standardized patients simulation is in need.

  • The purpose of this study was to assess whether library field practicum has been effective in enhancing students' practical skills, to determine if the field practicum program was appropriately designed and implemented, and to derive improvement strategies. To achieve this, six major areas of library and information science and 30 detailed practical skills were identified. Subsequently, a survey was conducted on 19 fourth-year students majoring in library and information science at D University before and after their field practicum. The study results indicated changes in the importance of nine specific practical skills and in the perception of 15 skills. Consequently, it was observed that items of practical skills actually covered during the field practicum showed positive changes. However, for practical skills not addressed in the field, there was either no change or a negative change in perception of their importance. It appears that proactive and continuous efforts will be necessary to utilize these research findings in suggesting specific skills that students should cultivate during their practicum and in providing concrete practicum guidelines to effectively enhance these skills.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the psychiatric nursing simulation practicum, which was developed for the therapeutic relationship forming and communication, psychiatric nursing assessment training utilizing simulated patients, on self-directed learning, learning self-efficacy and learning satisfaction. As a one group pre-test and post-test design, this test conducted 8 hours of intervention on 119 senior nursing students as study subjects. As a result, self-directed learning and learning self-efficacy were seen to be significantly improved after the program compared to before the program, and these variables displayed a moderate-level static correlation with learning satisfaction. These results can be deemed representative of the fact that, concerning psychiatric nursing practicum, a simulation teaching using simulated patients is effective. The results of this study are expected to contribute to improving field-centered psychiatric nursing practicum and the quality of psychiatric clinical work.

  • practice in operating room nursing and to examine the learning effects. Methods: Based on content and need analysis, 9 learning modules were developed for nursing care in operating rooms and with operating equipment. To verify the effects of the program, a quasi- experimental pretest-posttest control group design was employed. The participants in this study were 74 third-year nursing students (34 in the experimental and 40 in the control group) from a junior college in G-city, Korea, who were engaged in a one week clinical practicum in an operating unit. Frequencies, $X^2$-test and t-test with the SPSS program 17.0 were used to analyze the data. Results: Knowledge was significantly higher in the experimental group compared to the control group (p=.018). However, there was no significant difference between the two groups in self-directed learning. The experimental group had significantly higher motivation toward learning, which was examined posttest only (p=.027). Conclusion: These results indicate that the implementation of an e-Learning program needs to be continued as an effective educational tool, but more research on the best way to implement e-Learning in students' practicum is needed.

  • Purpose: This study sought to identify the levels of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) knowledge, anxiety, nursing professionalism, and clinical practicum stress, and the factors influencing this stress in nursing students. Methods: A cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted with the participation of 140 junior and senior nursing students recruited from three nursing colleges in Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do. Data analysis was performed using independent t-tests, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using the SPSS/WIN 26.0 program. Results: The study arrived at a mean score of 63.18±13.89 for clinical practicum stress, which showed a significant difference based on the perceived health status and reasons for admission to nursing school. Anxiety and professionalism exhibited a noteworthy correlation with clinical practicum stress. The significant predictors of clinical practicum stress among nursing students were perceived health status (β=.39, p<.001), anxiety (β=.25, p=.033), and the reasons for admission to nursing school (β=.17, p=.012). The total explanatory power of these variables was 23.0% (F=6.28, p<.001). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to provide effective education to promote nursing professionalism during a pandemic. It is also necessary to develop and include various programs in the curriculum that strategically intervene to prevent anxiety in pre-service nurses. This would reduce the stress in the clinical practice of nursing students when faced with new infectious diseases in the future.

  • Purpose: This study was to measure and identify the differences of perceived confidence in practice of core basic nursing skills performed by new graduate nurses in Korea. Methods: The tool used in this study was a questionnaire for measuring the confidence in 20 items of core basic nursing skills which was structured based on Korean Accreditation Board of Nursing Education tool. 231 new graduate nurses participated in this study. The reliability of this questionnaire had Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ .918. Results: Subjects who experienced simulation education and standard patient education were 86.6% and 35.9%, respectively. Item enema intervention, tracheostomy care, and blood transfusion showed low practice confidence level. These items showed significant differences on whether the subjects experienced simulation and clinical practicum or not. Conclusion: Developing and managing clinical education program under deep cooperation between practicum agency and clinical instructor are needed. Simulation practicum will complement insufficient core basic nursing skills between newly graduated nurses before they allocate at the clinical department.
