An experience on the model-based evaluation of pharmacokinetic drug-drug interaction for a long half-life drug

  • Fixed-dose combinations development requires pharmacokinetic drugdrug interaction (DDI) studies between active ingredients. For some drugs, pharmacokinetic properties such as long half-life or delayed distribution, make it difficult to conduct such clinical trials and to estimate the exact magnitude of DDI. In this study, the conventional (non-compartmental analysis and bioequivalence [BE]) and model-based analyses were compared for their performance to evaluate DDI using amlodipine as an example. Raw data without DDI or simulated data using pharmacokinetic models were compared to the data obtained after concomitant administration. Regardless of the methodology, all the results fell within the classical BE limit. It was shown that the model-based approach may be valid as the conventional approach and reduce the possibility of DDI overestimation. Several advantages (i.e., quantitative changes in parameters and precision of confidence interval) of the model-based approach were demonstrated, and possible application methods were proposed. Therefore, it is expected that the model-based analysis is appropriately utilized according to the situation and purpose.

  • The accuracy and noninvasive nature of the doubly labeled water (DLW) method makes it ideal for the study of human energy metabolism in free-living conditions. However, the DLW method is not always practical in many developing and Asian countries because of the high costs of isotopes and equipment for isotope analysis as well as the expertise required for analysis. This review provides information about the theoretical background and practical aspects of the DLW method, including optimal dose, basic protocols of two-and multiple-point approaches, experimental procedures, and isotopic analysis. We also introduce applications of DLW data, such as determining the equations of estimated energy requirement and validation studies of energy intake.

The Relationship between Risk Perception and Purchasing Behavior of Clothing Gift among Adult Women (성인 여성의 의류선물 구매시 위험지각과 구매행동간의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between perceived risk and purchasing behavior of clothing gift among adult women. Data were collected from 258 adult women reside in Kwangiu who have ever been to purchase clothing gift during recent six months using a qusetionaire. Frequency Analysis, Factor Analysis, Correlation Analysis, T-test were carried out in the collected data. The findings were as follows; 1. The types of risks that respondents perceived when they purchased clothing gift were identified as practical-economic risk, the social-psychological risk, the fashionable risk and the time-refunding risk. 2. The higher the self-satisfaction motivation was, the higher the social-psychological risk and the higher the practical motivation was, the higher the practical-economic risk (P<.001). 3. The degree of the perceived risks of the Low Planning Group was higher than that of the High Planning Group (P<.001). 4. When the respondents perceived social-psychological risk high, they considered brand, fashionability, and store type as more important selective criteria and when the practical-economic risk perceived high, practicality, store service were conidered more important (P<.05). 5. When respondents perceived social-psychological and fashionable risk high, they used both personal information and non-personal information high (P<.01). A Study on the Relationship between the Sex Role Types and the Interests toward Practical Arts of Elementary School Students (초등학생의 성역할 유형과 실과교과 흥미도와의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyse the relationship between the sex role types and the interests toward contents in practical arts of elementary school students. The questionnaire was composed of questions about the types of sex role and interests toward contents in practical arts. contents in practical arts subject were hoe economics agriculture technology computer. The respondents were 123 sixth grade boys and 122 girls from elementary schools in Seoul and Taegu. 245 questionnaires were used for data analysis. Frequency. percent x(sup)2-test. average, standard deviation, F-test. and Duncan’s multiple range test were followed. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Generally speaking androgynous and undifferentiated sex role type are more frequent than masculine and feminine type in elementary school children. 2. Androgynous sex role type students were higher than undifferentiated and masculine sex role types in scores of the interest toward home economics in practical arts subject. 3. Androgynous masculine and feminine sex role type students were higher than undifferentiated sex role types in scores of the interest toward agriculture in practical arts subject. 4. Masculine sex role type students were higher than androgynous types and undifferentiated and feminine sex role types were lower than androgynous in scores of the interest toward technology in practical arts subject. 5. Androgynous and masculine sex role type students were higher than feminine and undifferentiated sex role types in scores of the interest toward computer in practical arts subject.

  • In this paper, we propose the use of stochastic finite element method, that is popularly employed in mechanical structure analysis, for more practical designing purpose of RF device. The proposed method is formulated based on the vector finite element method cooperated by pertubation analysis. The method utilizes sensitivity analysis algorithm with covariance matrix of the random variables that represent for uncertain physical quantities such as length or various electrical constants to compute the probabilities of the measure of performance of the structure. For this computation one need to know the variance and covariance of the random variables that might be determined by practical experiences. The presenting algorithm has been verified by analyzing several device with different be determined by practical experiences. For the convenience of formulation, two dimensional analysis has been performed to apply it into waveguide with dielectric slab. In the problem the dielectric constant of the dielectric slab is considered as random variable. Another example is matched waveguide and cavity problem. In the problem, the dimension of them are assumed to be as random variables and the expectations and variances of quality factor have been computed.

Analysis of Practical Reasoning Processes Presented in Consumer Education of Technology & Home Economics Textbooks (기술.가정 교과서의 소비자교육에 반영된 실천적 추론 과정 분석)

  • This study examined how practical reasoning processes were reflected in the revised consumer education of technology & home economics textbooks in secondary schools. Twenty-four textbooks from secondary schools for 7th to 10th grades were analyzed. Areas of textbooks analyzed were introduction, body content, learning activity, and evaluation. Analysis criteria were extracted from the previous literature regarding contents and questions dealing with practical reasoning processes and revised by a researcher of this paper. The results and conclusions of this study are as follows. The results of the analysis of the practical reasoning processes showed that, across all grades, "contexts" was the most common element, and "alternatives and means" was the second most common elements. The elements of "consequences", "action and reflection" were less represented in the textbooks, with the exception of the learning activity part. The types of practical reasoning process reflected were classified either as the entire process of reasoning being reflected or some of the process being reflected, or included in the body content. Most of these were some of the process being reflected. Since there were a lot of concept-oriented statements rather than questions, more practical reasoning questions should be developed to increase the reasoning process. In addition, a need exists to develop a variety of ways to utilize the entire practical reasoning processes in the textbooks to help teachers apply the practical reasoning processes to their lessons.

  • This research analyzed the contents of the elementary and middle school home economics textbooks within the 7th Curriculum from two theoretical Perspectives: structural functionalism and healthy family. A quantitative and in-depth content analysis was carried out with the five elements of family structure, family role, family relation, communication, dating and pregnancy. A healthy family Perspective was found in relation to the elements of family type and family role from the in-depth analysis of the elementary school practical arts textbook. In the middle school textbooks, the five elements reflected a strong structural-functionalist tendency. In both levels, the quantitative content analysis indicated that a structural-functionalist viewpoint was prevalent in the graphical components of the textbooks, including pictures, diagrams and graphs.

  • Vehicle structures are composed of many substructure connected to one another by various types of mechanical joints. In vehicle engineering it is important to study these connected structures under various dynamic forces for the evaluations of fatigue life and stress concentration exactly. It is difficult to obtain the accurate load history of specified positions because of the errors such as modeling, measurement and etc. In the beginning of design exact load data are actually necessary for the fatigue strength and life analysis to minimize the cost and time of designing. In this paper, the procedure of practical dynamic force determination is developed by the combination of the principal stresses of F. E. Analysis and experiment. Least square pseudo inverse matrix is adopted to obtain in inverse matrix of analyzed stresses matrix. The error minimization method utilizes the inaccurate measured error and the shifting error that the whole data is stiffed over real data. The least square criterion is adopted to avoid these non. Finally, to verify the proposed procedure, a bus is analyzed. This measurement and prediction technology can be extended to the structural modification of any geometric shape in complex structure.

  • This paper aims at designing an intelligent controller, based on control Lyapunov Function strategy integrated with fabricating discrete model of Buck and Boost converters and analyzing energy changes during the DC/DC progress to realize tracing reference current on Buck and Boost converters. In addition, practical stability phenomenon research and transient performance analysis has been proposed to give an insight to the influence of controller parameters in achieving an enhanced output performance and how the time of sample period affect the error of practical stability will be illustrated. The novelty of this controller in comparison to other schemes lies in the improved performance of practical stability.

A Factor Analysis of the Perspectives on the Coping Strategies about Practical Stress in Nursing Studen (간호학생의 임상실습 스트레스의 대처방법에 대한 인식유형)

  • This study was designed to find the characteristics and patterns in subjectivity of the perspectives on the coping strategies about practical stress in nursing student. Q-methodology was used as a research design and the research procedures were as follows. Q-sampling has been derived from the literature review and a questionnaire. Its credibility and validity were also tested by nursing professors. Total of 34 statements were selected. P-sampling has been drawn and 51 samples were selected. Based on 9 point scale, the selected respondents rated their operant definition on the perspectives on the coping strategies about practical stress in nursing student. The results of above procedures were analyzed by PCQ program. The perspectives on the coping strategies about practical stress in nursing student were analyzed based on the typical array, extreme comments, and the demographic information of study subjects. The results revealed that there were three types of the perspectives on the coping strategies about practical stress in nursing student. The three types were named as follows; 1) The first type, agree of positive change by oneself perspectives, was consisted of 18 subjects. They thought that they did their best positive change for the most effective coping strategies about practical stress. 2) The second type, agree of social support perspectives, was consisted of 13 subjects. They thought that they asked for an other person's help for the most effective coping strategies about practical stress. 3) The third type, agree of looking on avoidance perspectives, was consisted of 5 subjects. They thought that they looked on or avoided problems for the most effective coping strategies about practical stress. As a result, this study discovered three types of the degree of the perspectives on the coping strategies about practical stress in nursing student. By identifying the nature of each of three types, this study can be useful to develop efficient coping strategies about practical stress in nursing student.
