  • This paper proposes a new PWM method to reduce the common mode voltage change in three-level Vienna rectifier. This new proposed PWM method uses medium voltage vector for the three-level Vienna rectifier to determine the sum of three-phase voltage zero, and the common mode voltage variation is decreased. Using the carrier comparison method, the switching function generator for three-level Vienna rectifier has been proposed. The effects of the proposed PWM method have been verified through simulation using the PSIM.

  • Peak power reduction techniques in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been an important subject for many researchers for over 20 years. In this letter, we propose a side-information-free technique that is based on the concept of random variable (RV) transformation. The suggested method transforms RVs into other RVs, aiming to reshape the constellation that will consequently produce OFDM symbols with a reduced peak-to-average power ratio. The proposed method has no limitation on the mapping type or the mapping order and has no significant effect on the bit error rate performance compared to other methods presented in the literature. Additionally, the computational complexity does not increase.

  • This paper presents Variance Reduction Techniques of the Monte Carlo Simulation considering Non-Exponential Distribution for Power System Reliability Evaluation. Generally, the components consisting of power system are assumed to be exponentially distributed in their state residence time. Sometimes, however, this assumption may cause a lot of errors in the reliability index evaluation. Non-exponential distribution can be approximated by a sum of several Erlangian distributions, whose inverse transform is easily calculated by using composition method. This paper proposes a new approach to deal with the non-exponential distribution and to reduce the simulation time by virtue of Variance Reduction Techniques such as Control Variate and Antithetic Variate.

  • The commutation operation of the current source converter for switched reluctance motor drives is analyzed in this paper. The commutation operation in the current source converter consists of two modes. At turn-off of phase switch, the phase current decreases sinusoidally, and the sum of two phase currents during commutation period is constant. At this time, the capacitor voltage increases quickly with changing polarity and decreases slowly when another phase switches turn on or off. Frequency of step-down DC chopper in the current source converter is low because of the dump such as BJTs and GTOs are possible as phase switches instead of Power MOSFET and IGBTS. They may result in reductions of conduction losses and manufacturing cost in the current source converter comparing to the voltage source converter of SRM.

  • An $n{\times}n$ matrix A over a commutative ring is strongly clean provided that it can be written as the sum of an idempotent matrix and an invertible matrix that commute. Let R be an arbitrary commutative ring, and let $A(x){\in}M_n(R[[x]])$. We prove, in this note, that $A(x){\in}M_n(R[[x]])$ is strongly clean if and only if $A(0){\in}M_n(R)$ is strongly clean. Strongly clean matrices over quotient rings of power series are also determined.

  • In order to enhance system energy efficiency, bidirectional link resource allocation strategy in GFDM-based multiuser SWIPT systems is proposed. In the downlink channel, each SWIPT user applies power splitting (PS) receiver structure in information decoding (ID) and non-linear energy harvesting (EH). In the uplink channel, information transmission power is originated from the harvested energy. An optimization problem is constructed to maximize weighted sum ID achievable rates in the downlink and uplink channels via bidirectional link power allocation as well as subcarriers and subsymbols scheduling. To solve this non-convex optimization problem, Lagrange duality method, sub-gradient-based method and greedy algorithm are adopted respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed strategy is superior to the fixed subcarrier scheme regardless of the weighting coefficients. It is superior to the heuristic algorithm in larger weighting coefficients scenario.

  • This paper considers a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) power line communication (PLC) network where interference alignment (IA) technique is used to mitigate the interference that arises in multi-user networks. IA as a precoding technique requires perfect channel state information (CSI) to achieve maximum multiplexing gain. Due to the common-mode reception at the receiver ports, we assume imperfect CSI for the IA precoding design. Here, the CSI is quantized and sent via feedback to the transmit ports. For different levels of CSI quantization, we evaluate the performance of various IA algorithms via Monte Carlo simulations. Simulation results reveal the superior performance of the proposed scheme due to common-mode reception in IA MIMO PLC networks. It is shown that for a quantization level of 5 bits, the CM reception improves the sum-rate by up to 70%.

  • In this paper, a design of high current and broad-band microwave bias-tee was presented for a stable bias of a high power amplifier. An input impedance of bias-tee should be shown to 50 ohm with the wideband in order to be stably-biased the amplifier. For this design of the bias-tee, a capacitor of bias-tee for a DC block was designed with a high wide-band admittance by a parallel sum of capacitors, and a inductor for a RF choke and a DC feeding was designed with a high wide-band impedance by a series sum of inductors. As this inductor and capacitor for the sum has each SRF, band-limitation of lumped element was driven from SRF. This limitation was overcome by control of a resonance's quality factor with adding a resistor. 1608 SMD chips for design's element was mounted on the this pattern for the designed bias-tee. The fabricated bias-tee presented 10 dB of return loss and wide-band about 50 ohm input impedance at 10 MHz~10 GHz.

  • This paper proposes an efficient and low complexity power-loading algorithm for MIMO-OFDM downlink based cognitive radio system that maximizes the sum rate of single secondary user (SU) under constraints on the tolerable interference thresholds between secondary user and primary user's frequency bands and the total transmission power. Our suboptimal algorithm is based on the $2^{nd}$ order interference tracking and nulling mechanism to allocate transmission power of the subcarriers among SU's scheme. The performance of our proposed suboptimal scheme is compared with the performance of the classical power loading algorithms, e.g., water filling, $1^{st}$ order interference tracking, nulling, and other suboptimal schemes. Numerical results show that our algorithm has low complexity but obtains a higher channel capacity than that of some previous suboptimal algorithms in some scenarios. We dedicate also that for a given interference threshold, the $2^{nd}$ order interference tracking mechanism has dynamic number of nulling position instead fixed number of nulling position.

  • This paper considers a downlink cognitive radio (CR) network where one secondary user (SU) and one primary user (PU) share the same base station (BS). The spectrum of interest is divided into a set of independent, orthogonal subchannels. The communication of the PU is of high priority and the quality of service (QoS) is guaranteed by the minimum rate constraint. On the other hand, the communication of the SU is of low priority and the SU opportunistically accesses the subchannels that were previously discarded by the PU during power allocation. The BS assigns fractions ?? and 1 ?? of the total available transmit power to the PU and the SU respectively. Two power allocation schemes with opportunistic subchannel access are proposed, in which the optimal values of ??'s are also obtained. The objective of one scheme is to maximize the rate of the SU, and the objective of the other scheme is to maximize the sum rate of the SU and the PU, both under the PU minimum rate constraint and the total transmit power constraint. Extensive simulation results are obtained to verify the effectiveness of the proposed schemes.
