  • A power line communications, power, the outgoing line is a means of communication. New N-way Hybrid Power Combiner to Improve the Graceful Degradation Performance

  • In this paper, a new N-way hybrid power combiner for improving the graceful degradation performance has been proposed. The proposed combiner has been configured with two dummy transmission lines per each section, where each dummy transmission line has a different characteristic impedance, of the standard combiner. Under this proposed configuration, a detailed theoretical analysis has been performed to show the general function of a power combiner. When any M amplifiers among N identical amplifiers are suffering the failure mode in a power combining circuit or system, the graceful degradation performance has been improved due to the separation of a transmission line and an internal resistor in every failed section from the proposed combiner by simultaneously operating two shorting devices. Simulation results for all the items which can be measured from all the items which can be measured from the proposed combiner with an eight-way configuration have been presented.

A Study on Linearization of Intermodulation Distortion for WCDMA

  • A linear power amplifier is particularly emphasized on the system using a linear modulations, such as 16QAM and QPSK with pulse shaping, because intermodulation distortion which causes adjacent channel interference and co-channel interference is mostly generated in a nonlinear power amplifier. In this paper, parameters of a linearization loop, such as an amplitude imbalance, a phase imbalance and a delay mismatch, are briefly analyzed to get a specific cancellation performance and linearization bandwidth Experimental results are presented for IMT-2000 frequency band The center frequency of the feedforward amplifier is 2140MHz with 60MHz bandwidth When the average output power of feedforward amplifier is 20 Watt, the intermodulation cancellation performance is more than 28dB. In this case, the output power of feedforward amplifier reduced 3.5dB because of extra delay line loss and coupling loss. The feedforward amplifier efficiency is more than 7% for multicarrier signals.

A Study on a Power Transmission Line Mobile Robot for Bundled Conductor Navigation

  • We introduces a mobile robot that can navigate on a power transmission line arranged in bundled conductors. The designs of the proposed robot are performed for navigation on bundled conductors, and the navigation method for bundled conductors and obstacle avoidance are presented. The robot consists of 13 degrees of freedom (DOF) with a symmetrical structure for the left and right parts, including the four wheel joints. The navigation method is designed using a combination of three motion primitives such as linear motion of counterbalancing box, linear motion of robot arm, and rotational motion of wheel part. To examine the performance of the proposed robot, navigation simulations are conducted using $ADAMS^{TM}$. The robot navigations were simulated on obstacle environments that consisted of two- and four-conductor bundles. Based on the simulation results, the performance of the proposed robot was reviewed through the analysis of the trajectories of end-effectors. We confirmed that the proposed robot was capable of achieving optimal navigation on bundled conductors that included obstacles.

  • Currently the development of powerline communication technology has become possible due to the high-speed communications. But the communication lines used for power line communication, not wires carrying power wiring is because when sending high-frequency wireless communication system unintentionally be influenced. To compensate for these shortcomings by using notch filters to reduce interference has been studied. Wavelet-based OFDM on the other hand by the method has been used to reduce interference. Wavelet-based OFDM has been used in the existing powerline OFDM scheme using FFT instead of the general structure of the CMFB filters to generate a signal. By doing so, subtly signals per frequency band, cut it, is to realize how efficient highways. It brought a deep filter characteristics, a flexible notch filter can be achieved without an external circuit has an advantage. In this paper, Using Wavelet OFDM powerline communication system is designed and presented the results of simulations.

Deign of Small-Area Differential Paired eFuse OTP Memory for Power ICs (Power IC용 저면적 Differential Paired eFuse OTP 메모리 설계)

  • In this paper, a small-area 32-bit differential paired eFuse OTP memory for power ICs is designed. In case of smaller number of rows than that of columns for the OTP memory cell array, a scheme for the cell array reducing the number of SL driver circuits requiring their larger layout areas by routing the SL (source line) lines supplying programming currents for eFuse links in the row direction instead of the column direction as well as a core circuit is proposed. In addition, to solve a failure of being blown for non-blown eFuse links by the electro-migration phenomenon, a regulated voltage of V2V ($=2V{\pm}0.2V$) is used to a RWL (read word line) driver circuit and a BL (bit line) pull-up driver circuit. The layout size of the designed 32-bit eFuse OTP memory is $228.525{\mu}m{\times}105.435{\mu}m$, which is confirmed to be 20.7% smaller than that of the counterpart using the conventional cell array routing, namely $197.485{\mu}m{\times}153.715{\mu}m$.

Frequency Multiplier Using Diplexer based on CRLH Transmission Line (CRLH 전송선로를 기반으로 한 다이플렉서를 이용한 주파수 체배기)

  • This paper proposes the frequency multiplier using diplexer based on CRLH transmission line with dualband characteristic. The diplexer is separated the output signals of harmonic generator, which is generated the harmonic signals using nonlinear device. The diplexer consists of the inphase power divider, 0o/90o phase controller and dual-band quadrature hybrid coupler. This send out the selecting output signals of the harmonic signals and suppresses out of signals. To validate a function of multiplier, the harmonic generator and diplexer with 2 GHz and 3 GHz operating frequency range is implemented. As a result, the proposed frequency multiplier is operated normally.

  • In this paper, we investigate the power integrity of grid structures for power and ground distribution on printed circuit board (PCB). We propose the 2D transmission line method (TLM)-based model for efficient frequency-dependent impedance characterization and PCB-package-integrated circuit (IC) co-simulation. The model includes an equivalent circuit model of fringing capacitance and probing ports. The accuracy of the proposed grid model is verified with test structure measurements and 3D electromagnetic (EM) simulations. If the grid structures replace the plane structures in PCBs, they should provide effective shielding of the electromagnetic interference in mobile systems. An analytical model to predict the shielding effectiveness (SE) of the grid structures is proposed and verified with EM simulations.

  • From now on, power line communication was made use of controling using 450 kHz narrow band, but as the PLC technology developing, in the near future get to the commercial step that is broadband PLC upto 30 MHz. In this paper, analyze the possibility of moving picture transmission for adapting surveillance camera which is among of the application of PLC. To analyze characteristics of channel, estimate the noise and impedance of lab, office, home. In case of noise, there is no problem to communicate each other because of 20 ~ 50 dB gain. In case of impedance, average impedance is about 100 ohm, it satisfy standards of designing modem but because max and min values get out of expectation there are some problem to acquire fully capacity of modems. Its condition is the same as transmission of multimedia data. In this test as more packets, as more handling rate, in lab, for the case that transmit 1,518 byte as the speed of 6 Mbps handling rate is upto 100%, it means possibility of moving picture transmission as the 6 Mbps speed. For delayed time there is no relationship about transmitted packets. As a result, there is no problem about applying surveillance camera via the PLC. And more cameras can work within PLC for considering the number of transmitted frames.
