  • This paper presents a steady-state operation analysis of full-bridge series-resonant inverters focusing on the distorted load current due to low-quality-factor resonant circuits in induction heating and other applications. The regions of operation based on the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) and non-zero-voltage switching (NON-ZVS) operations of the asymmetrical voltage-cancellation control technique are identified. The effects of a distorted load current under a wide range of output powers are also analyzed for achieving a precise ZVS operating region. An experimental study is performed with a 1kW prototype. Simulation and experimental studies have confirmed the validity of the proposed method. An efficiency comparison between the variable frequency method and the conventional fixed-frequency method is provided.

  • As the number of mobile devices has been increasing tremendously, system capacity should be enlarged in future next generation communication, such as the fifth-generation (5G) and beyond 5G (B5G) mobile networks. For such future networks, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has been considered as promising multiple access technology. In this paper, to reduce both latency and complexity in existing NOMA, we propose non-successive interference cancellation (SIC) NOMA with asymmetric binary pulse amplitude modulation (2PAM), nearly without bit-error rate (BER) loss. First, we derive the closed form of BER expressions for non-SIC NOMA with asymmetric 2PAM, especially under Rayleigh fading channels. Then, it is shown that the BER performance of the stronger channel user who is supposed to perform SIC in conventional NOMA can be nearly achieved by the proposed non-SIC NOMA with asymmetric 2PAM, especially without SIC. Furthermore, we also show that the BER performance of the weaker channel user in conventional NOMA can be more closely achieved by the proposed non-SIC NOMA with asymmetric 2PAM. These BERs are shown to be achieved over the part of the power allocation range, which is consistent with the NOMA principle of user fairness. As a result, the non-SIC NOMA scheme with asymmetric 2PAM could be considered as a promising NOMA scheme toward next generation communication.

  • Recently it has been proposed that lossless 2-user non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) can be implemented without successive interference cancellation (SIC) via correlated superposition coding (CSC). However only the 2-user case was considered. Thus this paper proposes a lossless 3-user non-SIC NOMA scheme. This can be achieved via the 3-user CSC scheme. Simulations show that the lossless 3-user non-SIC NOMA scheme can be implemented over power allocation ranges of user-fairness.

  • AC/AC power conversion is widely used to feed AC loads with a variable voltage and/or a variable frequency from a constant voltage constant frequency power grid or to connect critical loads to an unreliable power supply while delivering a very balanced and accurate sinusoidal voltage system of constant amplitude and frequency. The load specifications will clearly impose the requirements for the inverter stage of the power converter, while wider ranges of choices are available for the rectifier. This paper investigates the utilization of a buck-type current source rectifier as the active front-end stage of an AC/AC converter for applications that require an adjustable DC-link voltage as well as elimination of the low-frequency common mode voltage. The proposed solution is to utilize a combination of two or more zero current vectors in the Space Vector Modulation (SVM) technique for Current Sources Rectifiers (CSR).

  • Adaptive algorithms are widely used for various applications. One challenging application is an echo canceller in the long distance telephony network. This paper proposes the new variable step-size algorithm for adaptive lattice structure for echo cancellation. The new algorithm is using power of the output signal and the error signal to controlled the step of adaptation process. By this technique, the proposed algorithm is an excellent and effective in good stability. Performance comparison of the proposed algorithm and the other algorithm is made through simulation results.

  • This paper compares the output voltage control strategies of three-phase PWM inverter for uninterruptible power supply. The feedforward control, feedforward/feedback control, and decoupled feedback control in both the synchronous reference frame and the stationary reference frame are examined. In particular, it is shown that the response of the decoupled feedback controller in the synchronous reference frame can be improved by pole-zero cancellation method. It is also shown that the pole-zero cancellation method reduces to the deadbeat control, when it is implemented with digital controller.

  • NLMS algorithm is widely used as acoustic echo canceller. NLMS algorithm is degraded by the ambient noises and the near-end speech signals. In this paper, a robust acoustic echo cancellation algorithm is proposed. To enhance the echo cancellation performance, the step size of the proposed algorithm is normalized by the sum of the power of the reference signals and the primary signals. As results of comparing the excess mean square errors, it is shown that the proposed algorithm can enhance the performance of cancelling the echo signals. Some experiments, which is used multimedia personal computer, are carried out. As results of experiments, the proposed algorithm shows better performance than conventional ones.

  • In this paper a subspace-based blind interference cancellation is proposed and its performance is analyzed. Then the blind adaptive implementation is devolped using the improved natural power method which is the signal subspace tracking algorithm. The theoretical analysis shows that when the exact covariance matrix is kown the performance of the proposed detector is the same as that of the decorrelating detector. And when the covariance matrix is estimated the asymptotic results are examined. The results of computer simulation demonstrate that the proposed detector outperforms the previous blind adaptive RLS MOE detector.

  • In this paper, we propose the filtered-x least mean fourth (LMF) algorithm where the error raised to the power of four is minimized and analyze its convergence behavior for a multiple sinusoidal acoustic noise and Gaussian measurement noise. Application of the filtered-x LMF adaptive filter to active noise cancellation (ANC) requires estimating of the transfer characteristic of the acoustic path between the output and error signal of the adaptive controller. The results of 7he convergence analysis of the filtered-x LMF algorithm indicates that the effects of the parameter estimation inaccuracy on the convergence behavior of the algorithm are characterized by two distinct components : Phase estimation error and estimated gain. In particular, the convergence is shown to be strongly affected by the accuracy of the phase response estimate. Also, we newly show that convergence behavior can differ depending on the relative sizes of the Gaussian measurement noise and convergence constant.

  • This paper discusses the design of a sample-and -hold amplifier(SHA) that has a 12-bit resolution with a 100 MS/s speed. The sample-and-hold amplifier uses the open-loop architecture with hold-mode feedthrough cancellation for high accuracy and high sampling speed. The designed SHA is composed of input buffer, sampling switch, and output buffer with additional amplifier for offset cancellation Hard Ware. The input buffer is implemented with folded-cascode type operational transconductance Amplifier(OTA), and sampling switch is implemented with switched source follower(SSF). A spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) of this circuit is 72.6 dB al 100 MS/s. Input signal dynamic range is 1 Vpp differential. Power consumption is 65 ㎽.
