Objectives: Recent studies have shown that tailored messages for cancer screening to the beliefs and stage of cancer screening behavior of individual women increases the take-up probability. Many studies on cancer screening have used the Transtheoretical Model (TTM) to identify variables associated with cancer screening behavior. This study was carried out to identify the cognitive-behavioral factors associated with stomach cancer screening among women aged 40 years and over, and to develop and evaluate a tailored educational program for stomach cancer screening by stages of change. Methods: Building on the TTM constructs, we conducted a quasi-experimental study(N=283) to test the effectiveness of a tailored educational program for endoscopic stomach cancer screening. We carried out pre and post tests in the experimental group(N=162) and the control group(N=121), and the experimental group was subdivided into an on-line group(N=81) and an off-line group(N=81) by educational methodology using e-mail and the postal service. We used the chi-square test, trend test, and paired t-test to test the effectiveness of the program for stomach cancer using a tailored stage-matched messages. Results: To examine the effectiveness of the program for stomach cancer screening by the tailored stage-matched messages, the stage-matched materials were offered to the experimental group(N=162) four times for 4 weeks. The stage-matched materials consisted of the four types for stomach cancer. The tailored message was effective in changing the cognitive-behavioral factors, such as experience process, behavior process, con opinion for stomach cancer, self-efficacy, and the behavioral stages for stomach cancer screening. The stomach cancer screening adherence was higher for the stage-matched materials using postal mail than for those using e-mail. Conclusion: To improve the stomach cancer screening rate, the use of tailored messages for stomach cancer screening will be generated using an expert system. Therefore the implementation of tailored educational program will be supported a partnership between public and private health organizations and increasing awareness of the necessity of community-based interventions.

In this paper, we describe an address image recognition system for automatic processing of standard- size letter mail. The inputs to the system are gray-level mail piece images and the outputs are delivery point codes with which a delivery sequence of carrier can be generated. The system includes five main modules; destination address block location, text line separation, character segmentation, character recognition and finally address interpretation. The destination address block is extracted on the basis of experimental knowledge and the line separation and character segmentation is done through the analysis of connected components and vortical runs. For recognizing characters, we developed MLP-based recognizers and dynamical programming technique for interpretation. Since each module has been implemented in an independent way, the system has a benefit that the optimization of each module is relatively easy. We have done the experiment with live mail piece images directly sampled from mail sorting machine in Yuseong post office. The experimental results prove the feasibility of our system.
This study gropes for the way to seek a desirable leader increase the efficiency of the mail service in the post service administration. That is to say, this study presents an appropriate leadership for the enhancement of the post service administration by investigating the relationship of the leadership to the organizational commitment and job satisfaction in the post service organization. Consequently, for the mail business organization, the selling leadership and the participating leadership show strong positive (+) interrelationship with the organizational commitment, but weak positive (+) interrelationship with job satisfaction. On the other hand, the telling leadership and the delegating leadership show weak negative (-) interrelationship with the former. Here, we can learn that the selling leadership and participating leadership are more effective on the mail business organization.

Telematics and LBS is one of rapidly emerged technology domains. In order to efficiently construct them, moving object technology which manages huge volume of real-time location data is required. Especially, the query which obtains special sorts of information closely related to the detailed applications is required in order to effectively retrieve and analyze the location data for moving object in logistics domain. It has also complex query structure comparing to the conventional database query. The approach using the standard database query language, like SQL, can be considered as an effective alternative choice. In this paper, we not only propose a new query language, entitled as MOQL based on SQL, for the query processing of the vehicle monitoring and control in e-Logistics but also design and implement the query processor.

This study found that there are problems in sending mails at the postal service reception desks and proposes a system which transmits address information to POSNET(the terminals at post office reception) without the use of an additional security system based on address information which is stored in the terminals of mobile phones. The system proposed transforms the information of users into two-dimensional barcode(QR code) of the POSNET and a number of address information is texturized and transmitted to the POSNET with the use of how to read QR code and LAN such as bluetooth. When the system proposed is connected to the postal reception system, it can create and output mail addresses for mobile computers automatically and contribute to better performance for the post office reception clerks and better economic results.

In this paper, we propose a novel method that automatically generates real character images to familiarize existing OCR systems with new fonts. At first, we generate synthetic character images using a simple degradation model. The synthetic data is used to train an OCR engine, and the trained OCR is used to recognize and label real character images that are segmented from ideal document images. Since the OCR engine is unable to recognize accurately all real character images, a substring matching method is employed to fix wrongly labeled characters by comparing two strings; one is the string grouped by recognized characters in an ideal document image, and the other is the ordered string of characters which we are considering to train and recognize. Based on our method, we build a system that automatically generates 2350 most common Korean and 117 alphanumeric characters from new fonts. The ideal document images used in the system are postal envelope images with characters printed in ascending order of their codes. The proposed system achieved a labeling accuracy of 99%. Therefore, we believe that our system is effective in facilitating the generation of numerous character samples to enhance the recognition rate of existing OCR systems for fonts that have never been trained.

Objectives: Chronic diseases, including back pain, result in significant patient morbidity and societal burden. Overall improvement in physical fitness is recommended for prevention and treatment. Walking is a convenient modality for achieving initial gains. Our objective was to determine whether neighbourhood walkability, acting as a surrogate measure of physical fitness, was associated with the presence of chronic disease. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of prospectively collected data from a prior randomized cohort study of 227 patients referred for tertiary assessment of chronic back pain in Ottawa, ON, Canada. The Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) was calculated from patient-completed questionnaires and medical record review. Using patients' postal codes, neighbourhood walkability was determined using the Walk Score, which awards points based on the distance to the closest amenities, yielding a score from 0 to 100 (0-50: car-dependent; 50-100: walkable). Results: Based on the Walk Score, 134 patients lived in car-dependent neighborhoods and 93 lived in walkable neighborhoods. A multivariate logistic regression model, adjusted for age, gender, rural postal code, body mass index, smoking, median household income, percent employment, pain, and disability, demonstrated an adjusted odds ratio of 2.75 (95% confidence interval, 1.16 to 6.53) times higher prevalence for having a chronic disease for patients living in a car-dependent neighborhood. There was also a significant dose-related association (p=0.01; Mantel-Haenszel chi-square=6.4) between living in car-dependent neighbourhoods and more severe CCI scores. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that advocating for improved neighbourhood planning to permit greater walkability may help offset the burden of chronic disease.

Objective: To compare the effectiveness of different methods of recall for repeat Pap smear among women who had normal smears in the previous screening. Design: Prospective randomized controlled study. Setting: All community clinics in Klang under the Ministry of Health Malaysia. Participants: Women of Klang who attended cervical screening and had a normal Pap smear in the previous year, and were due for a repeat smear were recruited and randomly assigned to four different methods of recall for repeat smear. Intervention: The recall methods given to the women to remind them for a repeat smear were either by postal letter, registered letter, short message by phone (SMS) or phone call. Main Outcome Measures: Number and percentage of women who responded to the recall within 8 weeks after they had received the recall, irrespective whether they had Pap test conducted. Also the numbers of women in each recall method that came for repeat Pap smear. Results: The rates of recall messages reaching the women when using letter, registered letter, SMS and phone calls were 79%, 87%, 66% and 68%, respectively. However, the positive responses to recall by letter, registered letter, phone messages and telephone call were 23.9%, 23.0%, 32.9% and 50.9%, respectively (p<0.05). Furthermore, more women who received recall by phone call had been screened (p<0.05) compared to those who received recall by postal letter (OR=2.38, CI=1.56-3.62). Conclusion: Both the usual way of sending letters and registered letters had higher chances of reaching patients compared to using phone either for sending messages or calling. The response to the recall method and uptake of repeat smear, however, were highest via phone call, indicating the importance of direct communication.

As geographic object is consisted of 3-dimensional, it must be appropriated use the 3-dimensional coordinate system to express for exact representation. To define 3-dimensional+temporal object model we extended 3-dimensional space and valid time from object model of OpenGIS consortium that is limited to 2-dimensional space. This methodology guarantees compatibility with other systems to construct with the open model. Also, it permitted administration for two kinds of object by considering both objects whose position and shape changes discretely over time and objects whose position changes continuously. 3-dimensional+temporal object model was implemented by 3-dimensional+temporal object component using OLE/COM techniques. The interfaces of the component defined based on 3-dimensional+temporal object model. To use this component, we implement the data consumer for 3-dimensional+temporal data.

This paper suggests design and implementation of moving objects management system using GML which is the XML encoding standard of geographic data. The proposed system integrates spatial data and moving objects data, utilizing the concept of Web Feature Services. While integrating data, standard data model and interfaces, proposed by OGC, are used. Since GML is standard for storing and transferring spatial/non-spatial data, interoperability and extendibility can be obtained. In addition, we propose efficient developing environment for the moving object management system by providing components having Web/Mobile interface. If the proposed component be development methods are used, it is easy to add or modifyservices in the mobile system and pla
