The reciprocal effects towards the enhanced biological phosphorus removal were performed for anaerobic, aerobic and anoxic phases. The batch experiments showed that the p-absorption in the anoxic phase was 50% lower than aerobic phase. The correlation coefficient between p-back-solution and p-absorption was found to be $R^2=0.557$ however, the coefficient b(b = 8.4049) was relatively higher than the other researchers results. The increase and/or acceptance of the $K^+-,\;Mg^{2+}-$ and $NH_4-N$-concentration was proportional to those of the $PO_4-P$-concentration in the batch test. The relationship between $K^+-,\;Mg^{2+}$ and $PO_4-P$ was determined. The average value of this relation-ship agreed with 0.2 mol $K^+Ion$ / mol $PO_4-P$ ion and 0.21 mol $Mg^{2+}Ion$ / moi $PO_4-P$ ion in the anaerobic phase. The absorbed ratio of $K^+$ to $Mg^{2+}$ over $PO_4-P$ was found to be 1 : 5.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Different fatty acids exert different health benefits. This study investigated the potential protective effects of perilla, olive, and safflower oils on high-fat diet-induced obesity and colon inflammation. MATERIALS/METHODS: Five-week old, C57BL/6J mice were assigned to 5 groups: low-fat diet (LFD), high-fat diet (HFD) and high-fat diet supplemented with-perilla oil (HPO), olive oil (HOO), and safflower oil (HSO). After 16 weeks of the experimental period, the mice were sacrificed, and blood and tissues were collected. The serum was analyzed for obesity- and inflammation-related biomarkers. Gene expression of the biomarkers in the liver, adipose tissue, and colon tissue was analyzed. Micro-computed tomography (CT) analysis was performed one week before sacrifice. RESULTS: Treatment with all the three oils significantly improved obesity-induced increases in body weight, liver weight, and epididymal fat weight as well as serum triglyceride and leptin levels. Treatment with perilla oil (PO) and safflower oil (SO) increased adiponectin levels. The micro-CT analysis revealed that PO and SO reduced abdominal fat volume considerably. The mRNA expression of lipogenic genes was reduced in all the three oilsupplemented groups and PO upregulated lipid oxidation in the liver. Supplementation of oils improved macroscopic score, increased colon length, and decreased serum endotoxin and proinflammatory cytokine levels in the colon. The abundance of Bifidobacteria was increased and that of Enterobacteriaceae was reduced in the PO-supplemented group. All three oils reduced proinflammatory cytokine levels, as indicated by the mRNA expression. In addition, PO increased the expression of tight junction proteins. CONCLUSIONS: Taken together, our data indicate that the three oils exert similar anti-obesity effects. Interestingly, compared with olive oil and SO, PO provides better protection against high-fat diet-induced colon inflammation, suggesting that PO consumption helps manage inflammation-related diseases and provides omega-3 fatty acids needed by the body.
Electrical conductivity of $CdO-La_2O_3$ system containing 0.8mol% of CdO was measured from 500 to $900^{\circ}C$ at oxygen partial pressures of $10^{-7}\;to\;10^{-1}$ atm. Plots of log ${\sigma}$ vs. 1/T at constant $PO_2$ are found to be linear and the activation energy appears to be 0.97eV. The log ${\sigma}$vs. log $PO_2$ is found to be linear at oxygen pressures of $10^{-7}\;to\;10^{-1}$ atm and $500{\sim}900^{\circ}C$. The conductivity dependence on $PO_2$ at the above temperature range is given by ${\sigma}\;{\alpha}\;PO_2^{1/4}$. The defect structure in this system is believed to be complex, i.e., ${V_{La}}^{'''}$ and $V\"{o}$. The interpretations of conductivity dependences on temperature and $PO_2$ are presented and conduction mechanism is proposed to explain the data.
The electrical conductivity of n-type polycrystalline MnOx-Ti$O_2$ system containing 0.40, 0.80, and 1.60 mol % of manganese oxide has been measured from 100 to 400$^{\circ}$C and 1100 to 1300$^{\circ}$C under oxygen partial pressures of$10^{-8}\;to\;10^{-1}$ atm. Plots of log conductivity vs. reciprocals of absolute temperature at constant $Po_2$'s are found to be linear with an inflection, and the activation energies obtained from the slopes appear to be an enough average 0.18eV for the extrinsic and 3.70eV for the intrinsic. The log $\sigma$ vs. log $Po_2$ are found to be linear at $Po_2$'s of $10^{-8}\;to\;10^{-1}$atm. The conductivity dependences on $Po_2$at the two temperature regions are closely approximated by $\sigma{\propto}$Po_2$-1}6$ for the extrinsic and $${\sigma}{\propto}Po_2^{-1}4}$$ for the intrinsic, respectively. The predominant defects are believed to be Vo-2e' and $Ti^3$${\cdot}$interstitial at the extrinsic and intrinsic. From the interpretations of conductivity dependences on temperature and$Po_2$ , the conduction mechanisms and possible band models are proposed.
The single crystalline thick fi1ms of Bi:Y$_3$Fe$_{5}$$O_{12}$(Bi:YIG) were grown on (GdCa)$_3$(GaMgZr)$_{5}$$O_{12}$(SGGG) by Liquid Phase Epitaxy (LPE). The changes of lattice mismatch and Bi concentration were investigated in the thick film growth as a function of PO/Bi$_2$$O_3$ molar ratio, with keeping constant of substrate rotation speed, supercooling and growth time. It was grown that the lattice constant of the garnet single crystalline thick films and Bi content increased with decreasing of PO/Bi$_2$$O_3$ molar ratio. Bi concentration decreased with increasing of the film thickness.

Potentiostatic oxidation of Pb-1.7%Sb alloy used in the manufacture of grids of lead-acid batteries over the potential range from -1.0V to 2.3V in 5M $H_2SO_4$ in the absence and the presence of 0.4M $H_3PO_4$ and the self-discharge characteristics of the oxide layer formed is studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Depending on the potential value, sharp variations in resistance and capacitance of the alloy are recorded during the oxidation and they can be used for identification of the various substances involved in passive layer. Addition of $H_3PO_4$ is found to deteriorate the insulating properties of the passive layer by the retardation of the formation of $PbSO_4$. $H_3PO_4$ completely inhibits the current and impedance fluctuations recorded in $H_3PO_4$-free solutions in the potential range 0.5 V-1.7 V. These fluctuations are attributed to the occurrence of competitive redox processes that involve the formation of $PbSO_4$, $PbOSO_4$, PbO and $PbO_2$ and the repeated formation and breakdown of the passive layer. Self-discharge experiments indicate that the amount of $PbO_2$ formed in the presence of $H_3PO_4$ is lesser than in the $H_3PO_4$-free solutions. The start of transformation of $PbSO_4$ into $PbO_2$ is greatly shortened. $H_3PO_4$ facilitates the diffusion process of soluble species through the passive layer ($PbSO_4$ and basic $PbSO_4$) but impedes the diffusion process through $PbO_2$.

We prepared various $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2-LiFePO_4$ mixed-cathode electrodes by changing the content of $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2$ and $LiFePO_4$ used, and we analyzed the electrochemical characteristics of the cathodes. We found that the reversible specific capacity of the cathodes increased and that the capacity retention ratios of the cathodes decreased during cycling as the content of $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2$ increased. Conversely, we found that although the reversible specific capacity of the cathodes decreased because of the material composition, the cycle property of the cathodes increased when the $LiFePO_4$ content increased. We analyzed the thermal stability of the $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2-LiFePO_4$ mixed-material cathodes by differential scanning calorimetry and found that it increased as the $LiFePO_4$ content increased.

This study was carried out to establish clipping interval of Pennisetum orientale (PO) and Panicum antidotale (PA) to get maximum biomass production with optimal nutritional value for Nili buffaloes. Two clipping intervals i.e. $CI_1$, and $CI_2$ (clipped after every one and two months, respectively) were studied for both grasses. The data on various parameters were compared with PO and PA each clipped at 4 months of age (control). Leaf to stem ratio in both PO and PA declined with increasing clipping interval. Concentration of dry matter (DM) and organic matter (OM) increased (p<0.05) whereas crude protein contents decreased with increasing clipping interval in both grasses. Crude protein and dry herbage yields in PO and PA increased (p<0.05) with increasing clipping interval. The DM and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) digestibilities of PO and PA in ruminally cannulated buffalo bulls decreased (p<0.05) due to more lignification with increasing clipping interval. Ruminal extent of digestion, rate of disappearance of DM and neutral detergent fiber of PO and PA decreased in buffaloes while ruminal lag time of these nutrients increased significantly (p<0.05) with increasing clipping interval. The results from the study imply that two month clipping interval for both PO and PA grasses favored higher biomass with greater nutritional value for Nili buffaloes and sustained grass vigor.
This paper studied the ban on 'Po[포]', including hemp and ramie, on the basis of Joseon Wangcho Silok (the True Record of Joseon Dynasty). Po is the important point which can help to understand the people's life related with clothing. This paper showed that in the early years of the Joseon Dynasty, the state had forced kinds of bans on some fabrics many times. Among the bans of the fabrics-making the main part was the bans on Po, along with rice, used as money in those days. The state had on Po enacted on the policy to intend to promote paper money circulation more widely. However, people didn't want to use paper money. The reason why cloth could be practical and functional as a kind of currency was that people could make clothes with it at any time while they used it as money. People avoided using paper money that could not be used in that way, and so did public officials. At that time, Po that was generally used as money was the hemp of five warp threads. The measurement of the hemp in 7chi[촌; a Korean inch] by 35chok[척] and 32cm by 16m by modern metric. It also showed that it has been thought that the blended fabrics are the fabrics that were made of raw silk-threads and cotton threads as warp and weft respectively. However, the fact that there is a record of 'Jeo Ma Gyo Jik Po[저마교직포의]'(blended fabrics and clothes made of ramie and hemp) and there appear the new proofs of the fieldwork investigation shows that the concept of blended fabrics might be various or changeable as time passed.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Polyporus Herbal-acupuncture(PO-HA) at KI10 (Umgok) on nephritis induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) in rats. Methods: Rats were allocated into normal, control, and 2 experimental groups. The rats in the control group were intra-peritoneally injected with LPS for nephritis induction. The rats in the groups of experiment 1 and experiment 2 were treated with Saline injection, and PO-HA, respectively at KI10 three times for a week and then intra-peritoneally injected with LPS. To evaluate the effects of PO-HA at KI10, WBC count in blood, creatine, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-${\alpha}$), cytokine-induced neutrophil chemoattractant 1(CINC-1) in serum, urinary volume, creatinine, total protein in urine, myeloperoxidase(MPO) in kidney were measured. Results: PO-HA at KI10 significantly suppressed the increase of WBC in blood, TNF-${\alpha}$, CINC-1 in serum, MPO in kidney of LPS-stimulated rats. PO-HA at KI10 significantly suppressed the increase creatinine, total protein in urine of LPS-stimulated rats. Conclusions: According to these results, it is postulated that PO-HA at KI10 has an anti-inflammatory and renal-protective effects on LPS-induced nephritis in rats. Therefore, it is suggested that PO-HA at KI10 may be an useful therapeutics for nephritis in clinical field after further researches.
