Low Cost Hardware Engine of Atomic Pipeline Broadcast Based on Processing Node Status (프로세서 노드 상황을 고려하는 저비용 파이프라인 브로드캐스트 하드웨어 엔진)

  • This paper presents a low cost hardware message passing engine of enhanced atomic pipelined broadcast based on processing node status. In this algorithm, the previous atomic pipelined broadcast algorithm is modified to reduce the waiting time until next broadcast communication. For this, the processor change the transmission order of processing nodes based on the nodes' communication channel. Also, the hardware message passing engine architecture of the proposed algorithm is modified to be adopted to multi-core processor. The synthesized logic area of the proposed hardware message passing engine was reduced by about 16%, compared by the pre-existing hardware message passing engine.

  • A 9-bit 80-MS/s CMOS pipelined folding analog-to-digital converter employing offset-canceled preamplifiers and a subranging scheme is proposed to extend the resolution of a folding architecture. A fully differential dc-decoupled structure achieves high linearity in circuit design. The measured differential nonlinearity and integral nonlinearity of the prototype are ${\pm}0.6$ LSB and ${\pm}1.6$ LSB, respectively.

  • H.264/AVC에서 압축 효율을 향상시키기 위해 사용된 entropy coding중에 CABAC(Context-based Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding)은 하드웨어 복잡도가 높고 bit-serial 과정에서 data dependancy가 존재하기 때문에 빠른 연산이 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 adaptive arithmetic encoder와 정규화 과정을 효율적으로 구성하여 각 입력 심벌이 정규화 과정의 반복횟수에 관계없이 고정된 cycle에 encoding이 되도록 하였다. 제안한 구조는 pipeline으로 구성하기 용이하며, 이 경우 매 cycle에 한 입력 심벌의 encoding이 가능하다.

  • This paper proposes a code optimization algorithm for dealing with hazards which are occurred in pipelined architecture due to resource dependence between executed instructions. This algorithm solves timing hazard which results from resource conflict between concurrently executing instructions, and sequencing hazard due to the delay time for branch target decision by reconstructing of instruction sequence without pipeline interlock. The reconstructed codes can be generated efficiently by considering timing hazard and sequencing hazard simultaneously. And dynamic execution time of program is improved by considering structral hazard which can be existed when pipeline is controlled dynamically.

  • This paper is proposed about an efficient pipelined architecture for 3D graphics accelerator to reduce Cache miss ratio. Because cache miss takes a considerable time, about 20∼30 cycle, we reduce cache miss ratio to use pre-fetch. As a result of simulation, we figure out that the miss ratio of cache depends on the size of tile, cache memory and auxiliary cache memory. We can save 6.6% cache miss ratio maximumly.

  • Design verification problem is emerging as an important issue to detect any design errors at the early stage of the design. Conventionally, design verifications have been done using a simulation technique. However, this technique has been proved not to cover all potential design errors. Therefore, formal technique is often used to verify digital circuits as an alternative. In this paper we adopted formal verification technique and verified some important properties derived from our pipelined digital systems, using SMV (Symbolic Model Verifier). Our example shows that model checking method (one of formal verification techniques) can be effectively performed in verifying the large digital systems.

  • This paper proposes a code scheduling algorithm which gives a software solution to the pipeline interlock. This algorithm provides a heuristic solution by recordering the instructions, instead of using hardware interlock mechanism when pipeline interlock prevents the execution of a machine instruction in a pipelined architecture. Program code size and overall execution time can be reduced due to the increased flexibility in the selection of instructions, which is possible from the alleviated ordering restriction on the use of conflict resources.

  • This paper deals with the scheduling problems, which are the most important subtask in High-level Synthesis. ILP(integer linear programming) formulations are used as a scheduling problem approach.For practical application to digital system design, we have concentrated our attentions on pipelined datapath scheduling. For experiment results, we choose the 5-th order digital wave filter as a benchmark and do the schedule. Finally, we can obtain better and near-optimal scheduling results.
