자동차용 피니언 기어의 설계 형상에 따른 내구성 해석 (Durability Analysis due to Design Shape of Pinion Gear)

  • The structural analyses were conducted with three models of pinion gears connected to the rack gear which is driven by the steering axle at an automobile. Three models 1, 2 and 3 are designed as the different pinion gears due to the vehicle type. The lower the value of maximum stress, the better the durability of model. Model 3 has the best durability among three models. Models 1 and 2 are expected to require the adjustment in order to improve the durability better. By the utilization of this study result, it is thought to apply at designing the pinion gear with durability at the automobile.

  • A 600HP class high-speed gear driven 3-stage turbo-compressor (IGCC : Integrally Geared Centrifugal Compressor) driven by a 3600 rpm AC induction motor has been designed, of which low speed pinion runs at 35000 rpm and high speed pinion at 50000 rpm nominally. Due to its high speed operation, the system requires very reliable bearing selection and design as well as accurate rotordynamic analysis and prediction of its dynamic behavior to secure the operating reliability. Rotordaynamic analyses of the IGCC rotor-bearing system predicted that the low speed pinion rotor mounted on 5-pad tilting pad bearings has two critical speeds before its design speed and high speed pinion rotor only one critical speed, and estimated critical speeds of both pinion shafts are away from the continuous operating speed enough to satisfy the corresponding API requirement. The forced response analysis with API specified maximum allowable unbalances also showed that unbalance responses are small enough for smooth operation of the system.

  • The differential gear system is a device designed to distribute the driving force of both vehicle wheels and control the rotational speed when the vehicle turns on a curve. The differential device consists of a differential gear case, a ring gear, and a pressure ring. A differential pinion gear and side gear are mounted on the differential pinion shaft inside the differential gear case. In this study, a pin press-fitting device that mounts the pinier gear and side gear to the differential pinion shaft in the differential gear case was designed, and a jig device for pin press-fitting using servo press was developed. In addition, by precisely measuring the pin press-in load and press-in distance according to the pin hole diameter of the differential gear shaft, the optimization of the pin pressin process was established.

  • This study presents the practical design modification to improve the retracting performance of the pyro-typed high power pretensioner. 3 components of the pretensioner are redesigned and the usefulness of the design modification is verified by the experiment. During the pretensioning process, the gas blast generated from the gunpowder is transferred to the rack-pinion gear through the manifold. The rack-pinion gear is connected with the spool where the webbing is rolled up. According to the rotation of the pinion, the spool is turned and the webbing is winded. To help the gas blast flow well, the shape of the inner cross section of the manifold is changed. The spur gear design program is developed and used to find the best combination of the rack-pinion gear pair to increase the power transmission efficiency. The pinion guide is installed on the spool to prevent the vibration of the pinion. As a result of the experiment, the amount of the web retraction length is increased when every single design modification is applied. Therefore, the retracting performance of the pretensioner is considered to be improved if the presented design modifications are applied.

  • The wear of partially coated pinion cutters under several cutting conditions was studied. In the realm of this experiment, chipping was a dominant tool wear mechanism and flank wear was much larger than crater wear. Under the condition of relatively low rotary feed and low radial feed rate, the wear due to chipping was concentrated at the nose part of pinion cutter. Increasing of rotary feed and radial feed rate alleviated the concentration of chipping at nose and prolonged tool life.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 랙-피니언 시스템의 랙 치형을 핀 또는 롤러로 대체한 롤러 랙 피니언 (RRP) 시스템의 표면피로 향상방안을 고찰하였다. 우선 전위계수(profile shift coefficient)를 고려하여 RRP 시스템의 캠 피니언(cam pinion)에 대한 엄밀 치형설계 방법 및 언더컷 방지 조건을 소개하였고, 이를 바탕으로 설계인자의 변화에 따른 하중 및 하중응력계수(load stress factor)의 변화를 검토하였다. 이를 통해 RRP 시스템의 표면 내구성을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안으로 전위계수의 증가가 효과적임을 알 수 있었다.

  • The hydraulic LSD which uses the principle of gear pump is packed with viscous oil in tight container. When a slip occurs on one wheel, the hydraulic LSD generates torque caused by high oil pressure in the container. In this study, two dimensional(2-D) side pinion gear model was developed for hydraulic LSD. Using that model the flow analysis was conducted to preestimate pressure distributions of the side pinion gear according to the variations in the design factors such as oil viscosity, gear gap and rpm. Then, applying the obtained pressure distributions on the side pinion gear, finite element analysis was conducted to evaluate the torque characteristics. From the analysis results, the torque characteristics according to the design factor variations were evaluated.

  • 이동식발전설비에서 시동장치의 핵심기술은 피니언기어 쉬프팅 장치와 초기 기동전압을 제한하는 것이며 기존의 제품에서는 기계적 주접점을 이용한 시동 제어장치를 사용하고 있다. 하지만 완전한 피니언기어 쉬프팅 후 시동전동기의 기동의 불확실성이나 대전류에 의한 주접점의 아크손상 등의 큰 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 기동의 불확실성 제거를 위한 피니언기어 쉬프팅 제어회로, 대전류에 의한 접점의 아크손상 방지를 위해 반도체 소자를 이용한 시동 제어시스템, 직권전동기의 소프트 스타팅을 위한 기동 안전장치 등을 새롭게 설계, 제작하여 안전성과 신뢰성을 얻고자 하였다. 또한, 피니언기어 제어회로와 전동기 전원회로를 분리하여 전기적 안전성을 확보하였다.
