  • In this paper, we proposed a method of the resonant frequency shift of a microstrip patch antenna using $LiNbO_3$, PVDF and FR-4 substrates. We designed and analyzed from these parametars optimized using Ensemble V 7.0 of the simulation tool. We observed the resonant frequency by DC appled electric field in a microstrip patch antenna. When $LiNbO_3$ substrate were applied from -300 to 300 V/mm, we obtained the resonant frequency shift of maximum 29 MHz. The microstrip patch antenna with PVDF (poly vinylidene fluoride) substrate, we obtained the resonant frequency shift of maximum 17 MHz at frequency 6 GHz. but when Epoxy FR-4 substrates used, the resonant frequency does not changed. This results showed the resonant frequency shift without physical strains in a microstrip patch antenna.

  • The electromechanical energy conversion conditioning and processing implementation in USM direct motion control system is generally divided into two power stages: the two-phase high-frequency ac power inversion stage for driving piezoelectric ceramic PZT transducer array off the USM stator and the mechanical thrust power conversion stage based on the frictional force between the piezo electric stator array and the rotary slider of the USM. However, the dynamic and steady-state mathematical modeling of the USM is extremely default from a theoretical point of view because it contains many complicated an nonlinear characteristics dependant on operation temperature. In +2$0^{\circ}C$~3$0^{\circ}C$, the operating characteristics of the USM has represented normal condition. But the other temperature, it has abnormal condition so that driving frequency, current and motor speed will be down. The recent USM has controller without temperature compensation. This study represents the fuzzy controller for speed compensation according to operating temperature by driving frequency.

  • Acoustic response control of a corner-pinned plate using piezoelectric wafers was studied, both theoretically and experimentally Three different sizes of aluminum alloy plates were used and available ball joints were employed to hold the plate at the four corners. The plate with the largest aspect ratio showed the largest and most clear responses to the acoustic excitation in the range of frequencies (0∼200 Hz), and sound pressure levels (80∼100 dB) as predicted. The reduction of the acoustic response of the plate by piezoelectric actuator was very significant, more than expected, but abatement of the sound transmission through the plate was only slightly altered by the piezoelectric actuator. This work is an original work extending earlier work with doors excited by acoustic fields. The important difference is the used of ball joints to simulate the joints.

  • The underwater noise was measured by piezo-electric hydrophones submerged in the water at three different depths. The signals were led through connection cables to preamplifiers, and recorded simultaneously by a four channel tape recorder, and analysed by high resolution signal analyzer. The measurements were carried out at the fjord Skossvassen in archipelago off Bergen and at the cost of Norway in the North Sea. The results of the measurements and the analysis showed that the underwater noise consists of a steady broad band noise superposed by intermittent pulse of various strength. The noise levels measured in fjord Skossvassen indicated that they were generally higher at the shallow (10m) hydrophone than at the deeper hydrophone (25m, 50m). This tendency was not very distinct, however, the noise sources are close to the surface. The underwater noise spectrums measured in the open sea of Norway showed almost similar situation in all layers. This tendency showed that the noise sources are not close to the surface but they are far away from the measuring positions.

  • Over the past decade, the feasibility of using ink-jet printing for the decoration of porcelain tiles has been explored, and significant advances have been made regarding the technologies underlying printing system and materials. An ink-jet printing system for porcelain tiles has many advantages compared with a conventional printing system, including the following: (1) it is a digital process; (2) it uses non-contact printing; (3) it allows random image generation; (4) it is a highly efficient process (reduced production cost); (5) it offers massive and continuous production; and (6) it uses inorganic pigment colorants. For these reasons, ink-jet printing systems for porcelain tiles have been commercialized and are at present rapidly spreading toceramics-leading countries such as Spain, Italy, China and Japan. We also developed a proprietary system involving a piezo-electric drop-on-demand method and an ink-circulation step. The resolution of this system is greater than 360 dpi after a heat treatment and the maximum printable width is 600 mm, even when setting the printing head unit with four digital colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black). In addition, we systematically developed ceramic colorant-containing inks and tile-printing technology applicable to our ink-jet printing system.

  • Various techniques have been developed, and the development of piezo electric devices have made it possible to widen the alveolar ridge even if the residual bone is dense or if there is a lack of cancellous bone between the cortical bones. In the operation of the mandibular posterior area, the flap is easily accessible to the ramus bone, from which high quality autogenous bone can be obtained, compared to other parts. A small autologous bone block can be used with particulated bone graft material using one screw for bone regeneration instead of a large autologous bone with two screws. The tapered implant design can minimize buccal bone fracture, even in severely atrophic mandibular areas. We report a case of 4 years following implant placement with ridge splitting and small autogenous bone graft in severly atrophic mandible. This report demonstrates a case of functional and aesthetic restoration in a patient through a collaboration.

  • The on-line detection of the chip flow is one of the most important technologies in com- pletly automatic operation of machine tool, such as FMS and Unmanned Factories. This problem has been studied by many researchers, however, it is not solved as yet. For the recognition of chip flow in this study, the dynamic cutting force components due to the chip breaking were measured by dynamometer of piezo-electric type, and the frequency components of cutting force were also analyzed. From the measured results, the effect of cutting conditions and tool geometry on the dynamic cutting force component and chip formation were investigated in addition to the relationships between frequency of chip breaking (fB) and side serrated crack (fC) of chip. As a result, the following conclusions were obtaianed. 1) The chip formations have a large effect on the dynamic cutting force components. When chip breaking takes place, the dynamic cutting force component greatly increases, and the peridoic components appear, which correspond to maximum peak- frequency. 2) The crater wear of tool has a good effect on the chip control causing the chiup to be formed as upward-curl shape. In this case, the dymamic cutting force component greatly increases also 3) fB and fC of chip are closely corelated, and fC of chips has a large effect on the change of the situation of chip flow and dynamic cutting force component. 4) Under wide cutting conditions, the limit value (1.0 kgf) of dynamic cutting force component exists between the broken and continuous chips. Accordingly, this value is suitable for recognition of chip flow in on-line control of the cutting process.

이용한 해마의 부피측정은 해마경화증 환자의 진단에 있어 육안적인 MR 진단이 어려운 제한된 경우에만 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있는 보조적인 방법으로 생각된다.ofile whereas relaxivity at high field is not affected by τS. • We report on the growth and characteristics of the structural and optical properties of InGaN nano-structures doped with antimony (Sb) as a catalyst. The use of catalyst has been explored to modify the growth and defect generation during strained layer heteroepitaxial growth. We performed the growth of the InGaN nano-structures on c-sapphire substrates using mixed-source hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE). The characteristic of samples was measured by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and photoluminescence (PL). The aligning direction of c-axis of the InGaN nano-structures was changed from vertical to parallel or inclined to the surface of substrates when the Sb was added as a catalyst. The indium composition was estimated about 3.2% in both cases of with or without the addition of Sb in the InxGal-xN structures. From the results of InGaN nano-structures formed with the addition of Sb, we can expect the performance of optical devices would be more improved by reduced piezo-electric field if we use the InGaN nano-structures of which c-axes are aligned parallel to the substrates as an active layer.

  • As aircrafts are being operated at high altitude, wing structures experience various fatigue loadings under cryogenic environments. As a result, fatigue damage such as a crack could be develop that could eventually lead to a catastrophic failure. For this reason, fatigue damage monitoring is an important process to ensure efficient maintenance and safety of structures. To implement damage detection in real-world flight environments, a special cooling chamber was built. Inside the chamber, the temperature was maintained at the cryogenic temperature, and harmonic fatigue loading was given to a wing structure. In this study, piezoelectric active-sensing based guided waves were used to detect the fatigue damage. In particular, a beamforming technique was applied to efficiently measure the scattering wave caused by the fatigue damage. The system was used for detection, growth monitoring, and localization of a fatigue crack. In addition, a sensor diagnostic process was also applied to ensure the proper operation of piezoelectric sensors. Several experiments were implemented and the results of the experiments demonstrated that this process could efficiently detect damage in such an extreme environment.
