What is ontological understandings on young children throughout picture books for the early childhood? Under this purpose the books chosen were John Burningham's , David Wiesner's , Hina Back's , Peter Sis's . The books went through dramaturgical coding and were thematised based on the theories of ontological phenomenology. Study results show that young child-being appearing in the picture-books are thematised as 'multi layered being with Ntwurf and Geworfenheit(Aldo)', 'responsible being risen above greed(Plotsam)', 'reflective being on face of others(Fairy of Jangsutang)', 'being who encourages educational response of adults.(Madlenka's Dog)' These results revealed that young child-being have features not different from (multi layered aspect of being), unique from(encouraging educational response), and beyond adult-being(responsibility and response towards others). • This study purposed to examine the effects of integrated activities based on wordless picture books on increase in children's creativity. As for the subject of this study, 20 five-year old children(9 boys and 11 girls), who go to D Kindergarten in Ulsan-si, were selected as a experimental group and 20 five-year old children(8 boys and 12 girls) as comparative group, who attend B Kindergarten in Ulsan-si. For this study, all children of the groups were taken pre-test. After this experiment, difference in creativity of two groups was examined through post-test. The total of 42 sessions were conducted for 14 weeks from the first week of April to the second week of July, 2005. The test tool for this study was Creativity Scale developed by Kim Sang-yun (2003). To verify study questions, the mean of the two groups and the standard deviation were calculated and independent-sample t-test was carried out using SPSS WIN 11.5. The results of this study were as the following: First, integrated activities based on wordless picture books showed statistically significant difference in children's creativity between the experimental group and the comparative one(p<.001), which suggested that the activities affected increase in children's creativity in general. Second, integrated activities centering around wordless picture books indicated statistically significant difference in fluency(p<.05), flexibility(p<.01) and originality(p<.001), sub-factors of children's creativity, between the experimental group and the comparative one. This result revealed that these activities were effective. Third, integrated activities based on wordless picture books did not show significant difference in elaboration, a sub-factor of children's creativity, between the two groups. As the result of this study, integrated activities based on wordless picture books had positive effects on increase in children's creativity.

The subjects were 78 children 4 to 5 years of age in Seoul. Instruments were the researcher's revised form of the Story Construction from a Picture Book, TRSR (Teachers' Ratings of Students' Reading) designed by van Kraayenoord & Paris (1996), and the revised form of the WLAT (Written Language Awareness Test, Kim, 1995). The assessment scores and oral responses of the children were analyzed by Pearson's r, MANOVA and one-way ANOVA, using repeated measures. The findings showed that (1) the story construction total scores were significantly correlated with WALT scores and the subcategory scores were intercorrelated with each other. (2) The story construction total scores differed by age, and (3) the 2 phase scores were higher than the 1 phase scores.

For this purpose, 15 children aged 5 years old in each kindergarten located in Seoul were selected and J kindergarten (experimental group) supported <Picture book appreciation robot play> and C kindergarten (comparison group) supported <Picture book appreciation free play>. In order to examine the difference in play experience between the two groups, the score data before and after play support was collected using the sequential thinking test tool, and the collected data were analyzed using SPSS 28.0 program to perform ANCOVA (Covariance Analysis). As a result, the experimental group that experienced robot-based play through picture book appreciation showed significant improvement in the total score of sequential thinking and the sub-areas of dynamics, behavior, and intention compared to the control group. The results of this study are valuable as a play study to discover the value of robots as a creative play medium led by young children and to promote sequential thinking ability, which is emphasized as the capacity of future society.

  • This research aims to analyze the gender, sibling, and characteristics of figures who created the imaginary friends among 30 picture books published in Korea. At first, as a result of the research, a total of 35 figures of the 30 books had imaginary friends, of which 24 figures were women and 11 were men, with women more than twice as many as men. Secondly, in many cases, the only child in picture books had the imaginary companion, but in case of the figures who have brothers or sisters, The imaginary companion visited them more frequently to different gender rather than to same gender. Looking at the frequency of appearance of imaginary companion, the eldest, younger brother, and no appearance appeared in order. Third, as a result of examining the personality of figures who created the imaginary companion, their extroversion or introversion has no meaningful correlation each other. These results are meaningful as reference data for understanding children with imaginary friends in reality as picture books reflect the reality of children with imaginary friends and show various situations of infant with imaginary friends in a balanced manner.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of integrated teaching and learning method using augmented reality for effective promotion of child - friendly attitude and environmental preservation attitude and explored its applicability. For this purpose, based on the augmented reality fairy tale, we designed an experience - oriented integrated teaching and learning method such as reading book, story - telling, drawing, environmental conservation practice activity. The experimental group was divided into two groups: augmented reality reading fairy tales (A) and children's book reading fairy tales (B). First, interest, immersion, and empathy were higher in the application environment of integrated learning teaching method based on Augmented Reality. Second, there was no difference between the two groups in content understanding. Third, in terms of expressiveness, it was verified that various expressions were expressed in the applying environment of the integrated teaching - learning method based on augmented reality through drawing activities. Fourth, in practice activities, more students were practicing in the augmented reality - based integrated teaching - learning method applied environment, and the number of practice activities of individual students was also confirmed. This study suggests that the application of the integrated teaching and learning method can enhance the effect of education when using the smart teaching media using the augmented reality in early childhood education.

  • Children 5 and 8 years of age and undergraduates constructed stories using the wordless picture book, "Frog, where are you?" On a separate task, they explained the good and bad behaviors of others. The constructed stories of task 1 and responses of task 2 were audiotaped, analyzed by clauses, and then coded into the mind-related categories. Results showed that on both tasks the subjects used the actor's desires and intentions much more than the other categories of mind. Undergraduates used more mind-related expressions in making their stories than children, but they were not different from children in considering the minds of others for behavior explanations. Positive but non-significant correlations were found between scores in constructing stories and scores in behavior explanations.
