강유위(康有爲) 사상의 과학적 배경과 '천유경계(天遊境界)' (A study on the scientific background of thinking of Kang Youwei and a stage of 'Tianyou')

  • 강유위는 근대 중국 변법파의 대표적 인물로 동서고금을 가로지르는 그의 학문적 열정과 구세정신(救世精神)은 다양한 영역에서 괄목할 만한 성과를 만들어 냈다. 특히 전통을 비판적으로 수용하는 과정 속에서 그가 무기로 삼았던 서양 근대과학은 전통 '천도(天道)' 관념을 비판하는 데 매우 효과적이었으며, 이를 기초로 발전시킨 변화관과 연화(演化)사상은 그가 궁극적으로 추구하는 '대동사회(大同社會)'를 그려내는 데 막대한 영향을 미쳤다. 그는 서양의 근대 과학과 학술에 대해 강렬한 지적(知的) 욕구를 가지고 있었지만 체계적인 서학(西學) 교육을 받지 못했기에 여러 한계를 드러냈다. 그럼에도 불구하고 그의 사상역정은 양무운동 시기의 "기물(器物)"적 과학인식 태도를 벗어나 보편적 가치 체계로서 과학을 인식할 수 있는 계기를 마련했다는 점에서 매우 중요한 의의가 있다 강유위(康有爲)는 서양 진화론의 영향을 받아 비록 대동 이상을 제시하긴 하였지만 "대동극락(大同極樂)"이 "차안세계(此岸世界)"에서 절대로 실현될 수 없음을 잘 알고 있었기에 대동(大同)의 이상으로부터 이탈해 "천유(天遊)"경지로 관심을 돌리게 되었다. 즉 이상과 현실의 괴리, 그리고 그가 가정한 단선적(單線的) 대동주의(大同主義)의 실현 불가능에 대한 생각이 그를 "천유(天遊)" 경계로 나아가게 한 것이다. 강유위(康有爲)는 젊은 시절 그가 찬탄해 마지않았던 과학 기구가 사람의 인식능력을 확대시켜 "대도(大道)"에 가까이 가도록 해 준다는 점에는 여전히 동의하고 있었다. 하지만 "기물(器物)"과 인간 감관(感官)의 유한한 능력이 "천(天)"의 무한함에 비추어볼 때 보잘 것 없다는 것은 그를 절망적으로 만드는 점이었다. 그는 현실 사회와 정치를 개혁하는 데 있어서도 이런 비관적인 현실에 깊은 절망감을 느꼈다. 이런 비관주의적 경향은 그가 대동(大同) 이상을 추구하기보다 "천유(天遊)"경지에 경도되게 된 이유이며, 『대동서(大同書)』를 완성함과 동시에 곧바로 『제천강(諸天講)』을 저술함으로써 사람들이 혼란된 사회 속에서 인생 위안을 얻을 수 있는 "천유지학(天遊之學)"을 제창한 원인이라 할 수 있다.

유의(儒醫)의 심(心)에 관한 고찰 - 원대(元代) 주진형(朱震亨)을 중심으로 - (The Study on the Mind of Confucian medicine)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 유의(儒醫)의 의학적 특징에 근거하여 유학의 심(心)에 관한 논의가 의학적으로 어떻게 전개되는지를 고찰하는 것에 있다. 유의(儒醫)들은 심(心)에 관한 유학적 논의를 축적하여 의학적으로 활용함과 동시에 『내경』의 오장신(五藏神)이나 칠정(七情)·오지(五志) 등 감정과 정서 등의 부분과 연계하여 유학과 의학을 회통하여 이해하려고 하였다. 천인상응(天人相應)의 논의는 '음양오행(陰陽五行)' 배당으로 이어지고, 오장에 배당된 칠정(七情)과 오지(五志)는 결국 인간의 심성이 외부와의 만남을 통하여 사회적·윤리적 의미의 심신관계를 설정하는 키워드가 된다. 유의(儒醫)들의 의학적 특색도 여기에서 찾을 수 있다. 성리학의 심통성정(心統性情), 인심(人心)·도심(道心) 등의 논의는 물론 주정(主靜) 등을 적극적으로 활용하게 된 것은 『내경』의 칠정(七情)·오지(五志)의 논의와 상통점을 유학에서 찾을 수 있었기 때문이다. 유의(儒醫)들은 유학적 심성에 대한 의학적 전개에는 군화(君火)·상화(相火)가 자리하고 있다. 군화(君火)·상화(相火)는 『내경』에 문헌적 근거가 있으나, 유의(儒醫)들은 이를 바탕으로 군화(君火)·상화(相火)의 논의를 유학의 심성수양의 논의와 결합하여 의학적으로 유학의 심성론을 전개하는 단초를 마련하였다. '심화(心火)가 일신(一身)을 주재(主宰)한다'는 주장을 수용하면서도, 활발발(活潑潑)한 기(氣)의 운동변화를 표현하고자 군화(君火)·상화(相火)라는 이원적 구조를 설정한 것으로 판단한다. 이어 '군화(君火)-상화(相火)'를 주진형(朱震亨)이 인화(人火)-천화(天火)의 관계로 설정한 것은 군화(君火)를 교인접물(交人接物)하여 욕망을 일으키는 정지(情志)의 영역으로부터 구분하기 위한 것으로 판단한다. 그 과정에서 주진형(朱震亨)은 도교와 의학 그리고 유학을 회통적으로 이해하고자 하였고, 그 이해와 분석을 위해 주진형(朱震亨)은 주렴계(周濂溪)의 『태극도설(太極圖說)』과 주자(朱子)의 인심도심설(人心道心說) 등을 적극적으로 활용하였다. 이어 주진형(朱震亨)은 상화(相火)의 망동(妄動)을 방지하기 위해서는 주정(主靜)과 인심(人心)·도심(道心)이라는 유학(儒學)의 방식을 제시하였으며 아울러 신체의 음양중화(陰陽中和)를 위해서는 정지(情志)의 망동(妄動)으로 인한 진음(眞陰)의 고갈을 '자음(滋陰)'을 통하여 극복하여야 함도 제시하였다.

허준(許浚)의 자연관(自然觀) - 『동의보감(東醫寶鑑)』을 중심으로 - (Heojun's Outlook on Nature)

  • Heojun was the top scientist on Medicine in the 16th and 17th centuries and wrote the Dongeubogam describing the top-level medical theory and technology. So far, his outlook on nature has been disregarded even though his medicine is still effective. Through this study, I would like to know if his outlook on nature as well as his medicine is still effective. The conclusions are as follows: 1. According to his output, the origin of the universe started from the spinning of One Gi(一氣) which is quite different from Hawking's theory. Hawking assumed that the origin of the universe started from the Big-bang and will end to the Big-crunch. However, the current report on the origin of a star is quite similar to Heojun's theory and we acknowledge that his view on the origin of the universe is still effective. 2. According to his output, the universe repeats expanding and contracting forever while Hawking assumed it will come to the end, the Big-crunch, based on the expanding universe theory. Some scientists assists that Hawking's assumption should have some contradictions. Now, we acknowledge that Heojun's universal cycling theory which corresponds with modern physical theories is still effective, which would lead to a new environmental movement. 3. His view on the structure of the universe is quite different from the output of the current science, which results from his thought that the nature should be reviewed from the point of human's view. His view on the structure will be able to be updated based on the output of the current science. 4. The universe analogy started from the East Asian area as well as the Greek and Roman area in the ancient. The idea has disappeared since the scientific revolution era in the West while the idea has been deepened and abundant in the East and has become one of the major philosophical bases. Heojun emphasized its importance from the beginning of his book. 5. The nation analogy has been popular all times and places. According to his output, governing a country is like controlling one's body. 6. According to Needham's output, the universe analogy and the nation analogy were based on the ancient developed alchemy. And Harper assumed that Taiosm was based on the macrobiotic hygiene which was developed by the ancient developed alchemists. We acknowledge that xian(仙) cult, macrobiotic hygiene, medicine, alchemy and the ancient philosophy started from our ancients. Heojun's output restored our ancient tradition by combining the macrobiotic hygiene and philosophy with medicine. 7. Roughly predicting yearly weather would be unacceptable by the current scientist but Heojun's yearly weather forecast is still used in the clinic and seems effective to prepare from any epidemic disease. 8. 'Day and Night' and Four seasons are the most important factors to the macrobiotic hygiene according to the Dongeubogam. The new environmental movements should be based on the most important factors, otherwise the human beings as well as the environment would fail to survive. 9. Wind, Coldness, Heat, Humidity, Dryness and Fire represents weather. The six weather factors represent one of six phases of a year which is decided by the areal factors. Heojun preferred the six factors generated in the body itself to them from the outside. He thought a human being was a universe and the six factors generated in the body responded to the factors of the outside. 10. According to his output, Heat and Humidity are the most important factors which make a human being ill. 11. Life span, disease, food, and dwelling are dependent upon the geographical feature, according to Heojun's output. In addition, one's appearance and his five viscera and the six entrails depend on the food as well as the geographical feature. 12. Heath is related with the environment and they effects upon each other. If one is weak, he will be deeply effected by the nature. On the other hand, if one is strong, he will effect on the nature. That's why people live together. 13. According to Heojun's work, the society is an important factor comprising the environment. During a peaceful era, the society becomes stable and human beings are stable as well while they will be on fire during a chaotic era. 14. Medicine deals with human beings who live in the nature, so any medical book cannot be excellent unless it has any description on the nature. Heojun's outlook on the nature turned out to be logical and suitable even from the point of the current view and it is still effective as if his clinical knowledge and technology are still effective. Something unsuitable may be substituted with the output of the current science.

A. Carlson 의 객관주의적 자연 감상론에 대한 비판적 검토 (Is there an Objectivist Aesthetic Appreciation of Nature\ulcorner : A Critical Examination of A. Carlson's Theory)

  • During the last two and a half decades, philosophical interest in the aesthetics of nature and environment has been gained momentum. One of the most coherent theories in this arena of debate has been developed over a series of articles by Allen Carlson. The purpose of this paper is to examine Carlson's theory critically and suggest an alternative aspect that remains untouched by his model. Briefly stated, Carlson's view of the appreciation of nature is that it is a matter of under standing nature under suitable scientific categories. His argument, based on the objectivist epistemology, is basically a disjunctive syllogism : a) The concept of appreciation, derived from traditional disinterestedness and Stolnitz's aesthetic attitude, provides an insight into the explanation of aesthetic appreciation of nature, and is objectivistic in the light of its object-oriented character. b) Nature must be appreciated as nature itself, and the natural environmental model is the appropriate loci of our nature appreciation. c) The paradigmatic form of our nature appreciation is order appreciation. d) There can be a correct and objective aesthetic judgment of nature, and the sources of guiding categories pertinent to it is natural science and natural history. In regarding nature as an environment and as natural, his natural environmental model is meaningful. Nevertheless, his stance results in some serious problems : a) The natural environmental model excludes certain very common appreciative responses to nature-responses of a less intellective, more visceral sort. Therefore, the arousal model with appropriate emotions might be one of our characteristic forms of nature appreciation. b) Even if we consider the scientific knowledge as an objective source of our nature appreciation, this gives rise to the question of whether the natural science can be objective or not.   • In the early 20st century, created distrust on the mechanistic and dualistic view based on the world of Descartes and Newton. As the features of this new science cannot be explained by the existing Western philosophy but can be explained by the thinking system immanent in the Oriental traditional thought, many scientists and philosophers are concentrating their interests on the Oriental philosophy. In addition, some have been making efforts to find solutions needed for a new paradigm from the thinking system of the Orient. A variety of discussions have also been raised in connection with architecture due to this philosophical change. It has now become possible to conduct free creative acts, staying away from physical limitations, including gravity by diversified simulations through a computer. This physical liberation in turn has caused new changes to the spatial concept of architecture, thereby granting the freedom of the expression that could not be even imagined before and opening a possibility of new architecture and space. At the same time, the digital space architecture actively accommodating this technology is generating a phenomenon that the existing physical and realistic things are rapidly being changed gradually to immaterial and unrealistic ones. This study has analyzed the properties of digital architectural space as the immateriality of our traditional architectural space. The results are as follows: It can be seen that the immaterial features exhibited in the digital architectural space and the traditional architectural one are not just interconnected with specific features, but they are correlated to all immaterial features. Thus, immateriality that are common in the traditional and digital architectural spaces is complementary organic, which is contained in the ambiguity of boundary between other spaces. It is regarded to the architecture as a living things in space diversity based on ideological similarities.

이제마의 도덕.성명론과 사상의학적 맥락 연구 (Study on the Concepts of Lee Jema's Way.Virtue.Nature.Imperative and the Contexts between Sasang Constitutional Medicine)

  • This paper is written in order to investigate how Lee Je-Ma changed traditional Zhu Xi's philosophical view on Way(Tao; 道) Virtue(De: 德) Nature(Xing;性) and Imperative(Ming; 命), which was general concepts of his contemporary age, to practical philosophy and created new medical theories of Sasang(4 symbols) science from it. Lee emphasized the true thing which is able to be done in one's living not the concepts of Sasang. So he induced the concepts of Way and Virtue from the easy and simple way(易簡之道) in the Classic of Changes(I'Ching) for the purpose of practice by anyone. Because Nature and Imperative are derived from Way and Virtue in the context logically, human life is virtual in itself, so the substance of Nature and Imperative became equal with Way and Virtue. Herein the names and concepts of original 'Sasang' were substituted to Business(事), Mind(心), Body(身), Thing(物) which is able to be directly related with human being in his daily life. And he explained variously about the responses of Mind and Body of individuals onto Business and Thing. So it could be applied in medical aspects like emotional, symptomatical, characteristic features. Conclusively man is virtual being, so Nature and Imperative in the level of Human being are based on Way and Virtue in the level of Heaven. For that reason the new concepts of Sasang Business. Mind. Body Thing or Heaven. Human. Nature and Imperative were proposed.

  • 본 연구에서는 이상화의 의미와 특성에 대한 논의를 통해 이상화에 대한 학생과 교사의 이해를 조사하기 위한 이론적 기반을 제공하고자 한다. 갈릴레오에 의해 도입되어 근대물리학의 특성을 규정짓게 한 이상화는 네가지 방법에 의해 설정된다: 특정 변인을 무시하거나, 변인의 특성을 기술하지 않거나, 극한 상황을 가정하거나, 일정 또는 균일하다고 하는 방법, 이러한 방법을 통 해 설정된 이상화는 실제 세계에 대한 감각정보로부터 모델과 법칙을 만들고, 이것을 수식화하고 형식화함으로서 물리 세계를 구축하는 발견의 맥락에서 중요한 역할을 하게 된다. 물리세계가 이상조건의 설정을 통해 구축된다는 관점은 물리 세계가 실제 세계에 대한 근사일뿐이라는 관점을 갖게 하며, 이러한 관정은 실재에 대한 철학적 문제를 야기시키기도 한다. 또한 물리 세계로부터 실제 세계를 설명하고 이해하는 과정에서도 이상화는 중요한 역할을 하게 된다. 즉, 물리학자들은 물리 세계와 실제 세계와의 격차률 인정하고 그러한 격차를 설명하고 나아가 격차를 좁히기 위한 끝없는 노력을 하게 되는데, 이때 물리학자들은 물리세계에서 설정되었던 이상화를 조정하거나 제거하는 활동을 하게 된다. 본 연구에 뒤이어, 이상화가 물리학습에 주는 시사점에 대한 논의와 실제 학생과 교사의 이상화애 대한 이해조사가 계속될 것이다.

한방간호접근을 위한 이론적 고찰 (A Literature Review for Approach of Oriental Nursing)

  • In order to approach the nursing care of clients who are using oriental medicine and to understand the perception of the client who uses oriental medicine practices and the need to develop a model of nursing related to oriental medicine it is important to examine the major nursing concepts as they are found in oriental medicine and as they are differently defined according to the basic thought, theory and philosophical perspectives between East and West. Oriental medicine developed based on Sung Confucianism the teachings of Chut-zu, especially Tai-Chi-Tu Shuo and energy thought which are similar to traditional Korean Sasang Constitutional medicine. The basic theory on which oriental medicine is build is the theory of the five elements of Yin / Eum-Yang Theory(cosmic dual forces) and Meridian Theory. The most important attribute of Yin Yang is the concept of duality, confrontation and dependence, within Yin Yang but which do not exist separately. That is, the universe is a vast, indivisible entity within which all things exist in harmonious interdependence and balance. Harmony is achieved only when the two primorial forces, Yin and Yang, are brought into perfect balance. Each is contained within the other and there is a continuing interchange between the two. This also applies to the human body including human health which is defined as balanced harmony. The most universal connection of Yin and Yang is found in the universe where the five elements of life, fire, water, earth, wood and metal can be explained as having either Yin or Yang and therefore being in a state of connectedness but systematically circulating between the two, that is essentalilly one (the control of the unified ) or as coexistant poles of individual wholes (the pluralism of Yin Yang Theory) so that it is all unified(balanced) in the Great Absoulte. Human beings also maintain a balance of Yin and Yang in the five elements and this relationship is very important in approaching ·oriental medicine, The meridians are the channels in the body through which the life force flow throughout the body. In oriental medicine the meridians are seen as the railroad, the acupuncture points on the meridians as the stations and energy as the train. In the normal healthy organism, all are maintained in balance and in a contiuous circulation of energy. illness is the result of the energy flow becoming disarranged. Although practitioners of oriental medicine approach the client differently than do practitioners of Western medicine and their method of examining the patient is different, the basic objectives of the examination are the same for practitioners of both types of medicine. Therefore if each could be used to supplement the defiencies in the other and achieve a harmonious cooperation between the two, a higher level of care which is culturally appropriate to korean culture could be achieved. The traditional korean concept of health is a naturalistic view which emphasizes being in harmony with nature. Any manifestation of disease is considered a sign that the body is in a state of disequilibrium and is thus no longer in harmony with the universe. The wholistic view of the world held by practitioners of oriental medicine can be used by nursing in the development of a world view of nursing in which the human being is seen within the macrocosm as part of the natural phenomenon of the universe and but also as a microcosm of the universe, a universe which is a vast and indivisible entity within which all things exist in harmonious interdependence and balance. Interaction between human beings and their environment and the relationship of this interaction to health are concepts that are also found in nursing. Nursing views human brings, not as an accumulation of separate cells and organs but, as unified wholes interacted in very close relationship nth their environment. Nursing also maintains a view of human beings in which emphasis is placed on the role of the mind in explaining the concepts of harmony and balance in health. Although there are differences between oriental medicine and nursing in approaches to clients, the basic point of view and philosophy have many fundamental similarites. An understanding of the basic thought and philosophy of oriental medicine if applied to nursing, would allow for the development, not only of nursing related to oriental medicine, but of a nursing theory appropriate to the korean context.

창의적 과학방법으로서 철학의 비판적 사고: 신경철학적 해명 (The Critical Thinking of Philosophy as a Creative Method of Science: Neurophilosophical Explication)

  • 본 논문은 '창의적 과학탐구 방법으로 철학의 비판적 사고가 어떤 기능을 하는지'를 신경학적으로 설명하려는 하나의 가설적 제안이다. 지금까지 창의적 과학연구 방법은 주로 포퍼(Popper), 쿤(Kuhn), 헴펠(Hempel), 라카토슈(Lakatos) 등 과학철학자들이 제안한 과학의 논리적 '탐구과정'과 관련된 가설적 주장들이었다. 그러한 주장들은 어떠한 연구과정 또는 접근법이 창의성을 발휘하게 하는지를 모색하게 한다. 본 연구자는 그러한 탐구 경향 혹은 접근법을 "창의성 과정 접근법(Process Approach of Creativity: PAC)"이라 부르겠다. 그러나 본 연구자의 관점에 따르면, PAC를 모색하는 연구자들은 실질적으로 창의적 이론이 어떻게 도출되는지에 관심을 두지 않는다. 반면에 본 논문은 서양에서 새로운 이론을 창안했던 과학자들의 '철학적 사고 능력'에 초점을 맞춘다. 그들은 과학 연구 이외에도 대부분 철학을 공부한 경험이 있으며, 자신의 학문에 대한 비판적 사고를 할줄 아는 학자들이었다. 본 연구자의 관점에 따르면, 철학의 비판적 사고는 자신이 갖는 (낡은) 과학이론에서 핵심적 기초 개념과 원리에 대한 회의와 의문을 제기하게 하여, 새로운 창의적 이론을 얻게 한다. 본 연구는 이것을 신경철학의 관점에서 설명하려 한다. 신경철학의 창시자인 처칠랜드 부부(Paul and Patricia Churchland)의 "상태공간 표상이론(the state space theory of representation)"의 관점에서 전망해보면, "창의적 이론"이란 새로운 포괄적 설명과 예측을 제공하는 새로운 국소 대응도(topographic maps)의 연결망이다. 그 전망에서, 철학의 비판적 질문의 태도는 낡은 국소대응도 연결망의 오류를 역전파(back-propagation) 또는 피드백(feedback)으로 수정하게 할 것이며, 따라서 새로운 대응도 연결망을 탐색하게 만들 원동력이라고 본 연구자는 가정한다. 이 가정에서, 과학자들은 특별히 비범한 창의성(extraordinary creativity)을 위해 자신의 학문적 기초 가정들을 철학적으로 돌아보는 것이 중요하다. 철학의 비판적 태도는 낡은 기초 가정들의 대응도를 흔들어 과학자들이 새로운 개념체계의 국소 대응도를 형성하도록 해주기 때문이다. 이러한 측면에서 본 연구자는 "창의성 비판적 사고 접근법(Critical Thinking Approach of Creativity: CTAC)"을 제안한다.

  • "Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing" has been published since 1989 and more than 330 articles have been published up 2000. We reviewed all the articles published in this journal to analyze the contents and trend of published articles and to find out the way of improvement both in quantity and quality of studies in this area. The results are as follows; 1) Ninety percent of articles were quantitative studies. Experimental design was used in 16.1% and quasi-experimental design was adapted in 73.6% of articles. Qualitative research were 10.3% of total articles reviewed. 2) Only 5.1% of articles described theoretical framework and 73.6% of experimentally designed articles included research hypotheses. 3) Among experimental studies, only one was true experimental studie design. Eighty nine point three persent had descriptive survey method among non-experimental studies. Amog the thirty four qualitative studies, phenomenologic(73.5%), grounded theory(14.7%), and ethnographic (11.8%) design were used. 4) Most of research subject were patients and few healthy people, healthcare worker, and patient family. 5) Psychosocial data collection method which used questionnaire were 53.7% and interview, physical measurement, observation were used in 22.8%, 8.2%, 5.4% of articles respectively. 6) Total number of keywords were 692, and average number of key words per article was 2.2. Health-related keyword was the most frequently used according to four metaparadigm of nursing (human, health, nursing, and environment). Environment related keyword was rarely appeared. The number and quality of nursing research in "Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing" have been improved continuously. It is difficult to find out special trend or characteristics which is unique in this journal because of relatively short history of adult nursing studies. This review study was performed to analyze adult nursing studies only in the view of quantitative aspect, but it is needed to analyse qualitatively to find philosophical or theoretical trend in nursing.
