  • The undergraduate curriculum in differential equations has undergone important changes in favor of the visual and numerical aspects of the course primarily because of recent technological advances. Yet, research findings that have analyzed students' thinking and understanding in a reformed setting are still lacking. This paper discusses an ongoing developmental research effort to adapt the instructional design perspective of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) to the teaching and learning of differential equations at Ewha Womans University. The RME theory based on the design heuristic using context problems and modeling was developed for primary school mathematics. However, the analysis of this study indicates that a RME design for a differential equations course can be successfully adapted to the university level.

  • This study examined changes in the energy landscape, focusing on the photovoltaic module carbon certification system. As the global photovoltaic market has been reorganized around Chinese companies, the South Korean government has pushed to strengthen the competitiveness of the nation's photovoltaic industry. However, a limitation remains in that the government-led effort was not sufficient to bring about dynamic changes in the energy landscape. Against this backdrop, this study explored the stages leading to the multi-level perspectives of "macro-environment, socio-technical regime, and niche" to track the process of the government and domestic photovoltaic companies as part of a socio-technical regime responding to global market changes. In particular, this study raised an issue with the conceptual discussion of multi-level perspective, which placed a particular emphasis on the rate of change at each level and the niche in which innovative experiments take place, and thus attempted to fill this gap by tracking the energy landscape that varies differently from space. These spatial discussions can track different carbon emissions coefficients and industrial characteristics for each country, and have a higher level of explanatory power for the system thus constructed. In addition, through discussions on the problems and implications of the government-led introduction of renewable energy policies, this study suggests the need to create and implement a field-oriented system.

Nowadays wireless networks are being evolved and diversified. In this situation The wireless e-commerce is in the limelight on new profits of Carriers. Especially from current year when Carriers in domestic plans to provide the services using 2.5G networks the service providers choose wireless e-commerce as the main parts of wireless internet strategy and will provide a various of services. Because of this situation, the importance of mobile billing service is being emphasized. This paper searches the definition and service types of mobile banking, and suggests status and prospects of domestic mobile banking. We suggest the basic direction, the stage of development and functions of services by analyzing the cases of Nonghyup's. Finally we derive the critical factors from those and suggest the effect of introduction and the direction of development. From the customer perspective, mobile banking has many strengths. For example, it allows that all customers access banking service at anytime, anywhere more easily than telephone banking or pc banking. And it reduces the time and the effort for using the service. It enables the company to make a business against global customers. On the other hand, from the company perspective, it has a lot of potential that affect market share and reduce the costs of human and material resources which used to operate and support branches. However, it needs many efforts to reach at the stage of completion. And We will have to solve the problems that develop many contents, expend the range of services and raise the service convenience.

  • There is a strong need to develop a software cost estimation model on economic value perspective. The objective of this research is to improve current software cost estimation method on economic value perspective. We reviewed domestic and foreign researches and practices on software cost estimation with function point method, and derived promising alternative models. Pilot simulation was performed with real project data, and the probable best model was chosen. We collected data from 39 Korean companies, and assesed statistical significance of the model with those data. Empirical data shows that more practical model has better prediction accuracy. That is, the number of input and output modules, the number of tables, and the number of algorithms are chosen to be best set of functions. There exists strong correlation between the calculated function points and project effort. And, the revised set of technical complexity factors and evaluation guidelines show practical usefulness. We suggest that the above result be incorporated in a new improved guideline for software cost estimation. By adopting the results of this research to the guideline, we expect that technology innovation will be expedited, and that overall productivity of software industry will be increased.

  • Many studies have focused on improving the predictability of influential variables in the area of customer services. For a long time, customer satisfaction index(CSI) were the best matrics of customer loyalty. In 2003, net promoter score(NPS) was introduced and in many cases this matrics was more predictive than CSI. In 2010, customer effort score(CES) was introduced and in the service areas this matrics was more predictive than CSI and NPS. This study compared with 3 matrics based on the criteria which composed of basic assumptions, time perspective, measuring items, objectives of matrics, application areas, and limitations of application. The dominant matric which was applied in all functions and industries was not exited. For the purpose of improving predictability, single or compound matrics are useful according to industries and usage.

  • In an effort to increase the data capacity of one-dimensional symbology, 2D barcodes have been proposed a decade ago. In this paper, we present an effective 2D barcode detection algorithm from gray-level images, especially for the handheld 2D barcode recognition system. To locate the symbol inside the image, a criteria based on the block contrast is adopted, and a gray-scale projection with sub-pixel operation is utilized to segment the symbol precisely from the region of interest(ROI). Finally, the segmented ROI is normalized using the inverse perspective transformation for the following decoding processes. We also introduce the post-processing steps for decoding the QR-code. The proposed method ensures high performances under various lighting/printing conditions and strong perspective deformations. Experiments shows that our method is very robust and efficient in detecting the code area for the various types of 2D barcodes in real time.

  • With the introduction of the 40 hours workweek system, an intensive discussion was made among relevant departments. Building facilities does not necessarily guarantee more leisure activities and higher satisfaction for the public. It is essential to draft at the trend of leisure policy in Japan and learn from the experiences to set the policy direction best fitting future changes in Korea, as Japan has gone through comprehensive changes ahead of us. With this understanding, this study analyzed key leisure policies of Japan and examined the trend of changes of time. The followings are the findings of the research. First, Japan's leisure policies could be categorized into five stages and six terms. Second, leisure policies in Japan are being established as a local welfare system, not in the context of industrial perspective, to help people in local community. This is to make voluntary move by eliminating the factors that restrict social demand with an effort to expand leisure time and to secure and enhance access to leisure space. Third, Neighborhood leisure space has taken the center stage, in an effort to seek solutions to the issues of improving space utilization, restoring local community and encouraging participation of local residents. The conclusion drawn from the research is as follows. It is required to recommend the use of the specific term 'leisure' for leisure policies in Korea and for leisure space policies in Korea that are now facing sociocultural challenges similar to the ones emerging in Japan, measures are required to improve physiological access of local residents including information promotion, lifetime education and relationships enhancement along with the establishment of neighborhood leisure space.

  • This qualitative case study focused on two types of livable, family-friendly communities and their activities. The landscaping, the community library, and the Dongbu Apartment Residents' Committee were examined in relationship to the everyday lives of the community's residents through observation and an in-depth interview. The experiences and thoughts of two representatives and four volunteers were described in detail. This study implies the importance of activity as well as a visible effort to improve quality of life. Further, it implies the necessity of a long-tenn perspective and commitment to developing a livable community base with strategies consistent with integrity and the values of everyday life. Above all, we researchers emphasize the most important factor of the livable community is the third sector; a public space based on everyday life located between a structurally separate work space and family space.

  • In this study, we divided attention to mobile contents into two dimensions (i.e., exposure and involvement), and explored the characteristics of and the relationship between the attention behaviors, using contents data from Pikicast. First, this study investigated the relationship between exposure and involvement in order to examine whether double-jeopardy effects appear in mobile contents as well. In addition, we examined how different attention behaviors differ according to platform and subject attributes(i.e., soft and hard). As a result, we found that there was a positive correlation between exposure and involvement in mobile platforms. Also, we found that the attention behaviors, especially sharing behaviors, were different in each platform. In terms of subject attributes, the attention indices such as the number of comments and sharing, which were immediate responses, were related to the soft content, whereas the attention indices such as the consumption time and the complete-read rate were related to the hard content requiring cognitive effort. This study is meaningful to understand the essence of the attention behavior in the mobile environment from a content - oriented perspective rather than the most existing research with a user - centered perspective.
