The effects of store image components on consumers purchasing retailer brands in Korea

  • Although a huge number of academic researchers have paid considerable attention to exploring both the degree to which store image influences retailer brand customers and how to develop store personality, they have overlooked the contemporary retail context in which retailers have developed many different types of retailer brands, that is, price-oriented or quality-oriented retailer brands. Rather than focusing on the latter, much literature has looked at the former. Accordingly, even though there are many articles related to store image, a few authors have shown their interest in identifying the extent to which store personality affects customers purchasing retailer brands at lower prices. As a result, their efforts have been to illustrate the relationship between store image and consumer behaviours buying retailer brands. In that multiple retailers over the world such as E-Mart, Lotte-Mart, Tesco Korea and Tesco UK have actively introduced not only the quality-focused retailer brands that quality is better than, or equal to national brands, and prices are slightly higher than, or equal to them, but also price-focused retailer brands, academicians should make an effort to investigate how store image affects customers purchasing a quality-oriented retailer brand, comparing with previous research results. That is why the authors illustrate the extent to which store personality components influence retailer brand customers, including particularly quality-oriented retailer brand customers through an empirical research. By adopting a questionnaire method as a research technique to illuminate the relationship between store image components and retailer brand customers, research validity increases and further, data gathered through a field survey are analysed through a few statistic analysis methods, in order to minimise statistical deviations. Compared with the prior research concentrated on price-focused retailer brands, the authors have significantly shed light on customer behaviours purchasing retailer brand products with higher quality. When it comes to store personality components, the research suggests the following five items: merchandise attributes, services, physical facilities, promotions, and institutional image, considering the subcomponents mentioned by the previous research. Proposing the conceptual research model which those elements are differently hypothesised, according to retailer brand types: PR (Price-oriented Retailer brand) and QR (Quality-oriented Retailer brand), the research is proceeded. Through empirical research, the authors found that amongst the five items, only promotion influenced retailer brand customers in the Korean retailing marketplace, unlike other countries explored by many researchers, such as UK. Although much literature emphasises that those elements are closely related to retailer brand buying proneness, it is completely not fit to the Korean market. Also, research findings provide new insights into the degree of store image effects on retailer brand customers for academiciansand practitioners. Whether the retailer brand development program that a retailer has carried simultaneously both price-focused and quality-focused retailer brand types is practically profitable should be explored in the future.

The Effects of College Student Humanity Leadership Program on Personality, Self-Esteem, Leadership and Life Satisfaction (대학생 인성리더십 프로그램이 인성과 자아존중감 및 리더십과 삶의 만족도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify whether the university-based humanity leadership program is effective in improving personality, self-esteem, leadership and life satisfaction. The subjects of this study were 45 students in the experimental group and 45 students in the control group, and the control group did not participate in the leadership program. The research was conducted from September 5, 2017 to November 28, 2017. The program was conducted twice a month for a total of six sessions. To verify the effectiveness of the program, preliminary tests were conducted before the first session and then post-tests were conducted after the program. The test consisted of a questionnaire survey on personality, self-esteem, leadership, and life satisfaction. Data analysis was performed by using SPSS 24.0 for the frequency analysis and the response sample t test for determining the differences in the post-test scores of the experimental group. First, there was a significant difference in personality, self-esteem and life satisfaction. Second, positive effects were found in three domains that included honesty, self-esteem, relationships with others, leadership, popularity, and self-assertiveness. This result suggests that it is necessary to improve the satisfaction of life through the formation of relationships with other people, and with an emphasis on honesty, in the program's development and contents.

An Analysis of Value and Personality for the Crippled Person's Psychological Rehabilitation (지체장애인의 심리적 재활을 위한 성격 및 가치관 분석)

  • This study is search for analyzed the primary factor of psychological characters of crippled person toward psychological rehabilitation that is the most foundmental to all rehabilitation for a crippled person. The research is, make a comparative analyze to personality character, value character, and motion, and then examined the relation of among then, by applies to high school's crippled students. First. in the personality character aspect, a group of crippled student's is shown that the factor of family relations is lack harmony than normal group, that is, shown up that a parents and family members is oversensitiveness to crippled person, So sometimes they overprotectiveness, unconcered, and not accept it is. Also, in the factor of confrontability aspect, a group of crippled person's average is shown to high as compared with normal group, and then, it shown that they are irresponsible, have a weak self-control, and show a marked trend toward self-control. This is means that crippled person have scruples about psychological and social adaptation. But friendship, adaptability, cheefulness. and emotonal stability is shown no difference with normal person. Accordingly, in the personality aspect, the falter of family-relation and confrontability can be know that the object of psychological rehabilitation. Second, in the sence of value aspect, crippled students is show that the average score had higher than normal group toward the factor of variety, therefor we can know that they have purpose to more pursur of variety in the living. This is consideration that a raise from the limited of social contact chance and badly informed and experience. Also, the factor of purpose-intention is shown that crippled students had low non than normal group, then, that means that they have a weak will toward cope with various problems in daily living. Crippled student is, in contrast to lacked fixed purpose with self-living, and also insufficient tring to accomplish their objects. Third, crippled students motion shown that related to low level of personality character and a sence of value factor. Daily living activity is show that related to the factors of confrontability and cheerfulness. This means that rehabilitation service given a change to confrontability and cheerfulness that can be effect is related. And the activity of home is related with confrontability, psychological rehabilitation for the change of activity is can say that it should be contribute to strengthen toward responsibility and self-control from self-central to intention at rho others. Fourth, the relation between an motion and a value of crippled student is shown low level of regulations that can be ignore. In sum, in the rehabilitation of crippled person, hereafter, a study subject is if which search to character factor and to find out effect inter-factors within the the factor of psychological rehabilitation as medical, occupational, social rehabilitation, then probably more effective development toward rehabilitation programs. Conseguently, hereafter for the crippled person's rehabilitaton, the study should be rquirement for establish a character and factors each filed of rehabilitation. The study sibject toward crippled person's rehabilitation for the fature is search for character factor toward medical. occupational, and social rehabilitation. and find out inter-relation among then like as search of this study for psychological rehabilitation. For the rehabilitation of crippled person, if is not preceding of study like this, it ought to be difficult to creation service as well as development to effective program.

  • The crowdsourcing software development (CSD) is growing rapidly in the open call format in a competitive environment. In CSD, tasks are posted on a web-based CSD platform for CSD workers to compete for the task and win rewards. Task searching and assigning are very important aspects of the CSD environment because tasks posted on different platforms are in hundreds. To search and evaluate a thousand submissions on the platform are very difficult and time-consuming process for both the developer and platform. However, there are many other problems that are affecting CSD quality and reliability of CSD workers to assign the task which include the required knowledge, large participation, time complexity and incentive motivations. In order to attract the right person for the right task, the execution of action plans will help the CSD platform as well the CSD worker for the best matching with their tasks. This study formalized the task assignment method by utilizing different situations in a CSD competition-based environment in artificial intelligence (AI) planning. The results from this study suggested that assigning the task has many challenges whenever there are undefined conditions, especially in a competitive environment. Our main focus is to evaluate the AI automated planning to provide the best possible solution to matching the CSD worker with their personality type.

A Study on the Factors of Career Decision-making and the Moderating Effects of Personality Types (경력결정요인과 성격유형의 조절효과에 관한 연구 - 문헌정보학과 학생들을 중심으로 -)

  • This study attempts to analyse factors that influence the level of career decision for prospective librarians. To this end, an empirical study was conducted on the students from the department of Library & Information Science at universities located in Seoul, Gyeong Gi and Chung Cheong Areas. Exogenous variables included curriculum, career-related departmental activities, and librarian-related institutional factors. The result of analysis using the Structural Equation Model reveals that career-related departmental activities are preceding factors which affect the level of career decision and that personality types function as a modulator. This suggests that, in order to raise the career decision level, prospective librarians need to participate in career-related departmental activities, which make it easier to share information regarding career and thus enhance the level of career. Such career-related departmental activities include participating in job-oriented circles and career-consulting programs, communicating with seniors, and operating and joining career programs. Further organizational and institutional development is required : better curriculum, improved practical ability and qualifications as librarians. This study also discusses its limits and areas for future research.

A Study on the Relationship between Makeup Behavior, Psychological Traits and Preference for the Makeup Images of Funeral portrait in Elderly Women (노년여성의 화장행동, 심리적 특성과 영정사진 화장이미지 선호의 관계연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of elderly women's makeup behavior, psychological traits and demographic variables on their preference for makeup images in daily life(hereinafter called general makeup image) and for the makeup images of their own future funeral portraits. As for the method of research, a research study was implemented by using the questionnaire method. Seven factors were selected for makeup behavior: fashionability, conformity, subjectivity, instrumentality, interpersonal orientation and conspicuousness. The selected psychological traits were personality, death attitude and depression. Preference for general makeup image and for the makeup image of funeral portrait were investigated in terms of four: agreeableness, refinement, individuality and dignity. The subjects in this study were 651 female elderly residents in and around Seoul who were in their 60s to 80s. Concerning data analysis, factor analysis, Cronbach alpha coefficient, Pearson productmoment correlation coefficient, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test and multiple regression analysis were utilized. Concerning the influence of the elderly women's makeup behavior, personality, death attitude, depression and demographic variables on preference for the makeup image of funeral portrait, their preference for an agreeable makeup image was analyzed. Thus, makeup behavior, personality, death attitude and depression were identified as the variables to exert a significant influence on preference for the makeup images of funeral portrait. The findings of the study are expected to help make makeup for funeral portrait entrenched as a part of the beauty industry and to make a contribution to the development of the beauty industry.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an integrated program to improve the creative and emotional ability of lower grade students. This program aimed to cultivate creative thinking and creative personality for problem solving, and to learn how to interact positively with others by developing emotional expression and control. Creative thinking ability includes fluency, flexibility, originality, elaboration, imagination, and sensitivity. Creative personality includes curiosity, sensitivity, adventure, humor, independence, task commitment, and problem solving leadership. We selected 6 creative thinking skills such as mind-map and brainstorming. Emotional factors consist of self /other understanding, control of emotional effect, self-expression emotionally, and respect for others for cooperation. The integrated program consisted of 12 themes, and the class time was set to 40 minutes, which is the same as the elementary curriculum. The program was conducted by a teacher with 10 years' experience.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how the broken home influence the personality development. in comparison of the personal characters of the child of broken home with those of the child of normal home. The subjects of this study were III broken homes children and 183 normal homes children of 5th grade. sampled from elementary schools in Busan. The instrument used in this study was the character inventory prepared by Lee Sang Rho. etc. The result of the personality test was compared according to each variable(as follws)and the mean(M) standard deviation(SD) and T -test were obtained. The result of the analysis are as follows: 1. The child of normal homes is superior in superiority than the child of broken homes 2. The boys of mormal homes are superior in sociability than the boys of broken homes, boys of broken homes, but there was no outstanding difference between the girls of normal homes and the girls of broken homes. 3. In the case of extended family. there was no outstanding difference between the child of normal homes and the child of broken homes, but in the case of nuclear family. the child of normal homes is superior in sociability and superiority than the child of broken homes. 4. In the case of only child homes, there was no outstanding difference between the child of normal homes and the child of broken homes, but in the case of sibling child homes. the child of normal homes is superior in sociability and superiority than the child of broken homes.

  • Objective : The aim of this study was to investigate how trauma and personality system was related by comparing TCI profiles of the trauma versus non-trauma groups and PTSD symptom positive (PTSD symptom [+] group) and PTSD symptom negative groups (PTSD symptom [-] group). Methods : We compared the difference of Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) profiles between the trauma (n=61) and the non-trauma (n=61) groups, and between the PTSD symptom [+] group (n=40) and PTSD symptom [-] group (n=21). Results : Comparison of the TCI's seven higher dimensions between the PTSD symptom [+] and [-] groups showed significant differences only in C (Cooperativeness). And in the analysis of TCI's lower dimensions the significant differences were observed in the HA1 (Worry and pessimism), HA2 (Tension regarding uncertainty), and C4 (Compassion) subscales. However, significant differences in the higher dimensions appeared more clearly between the non-traumatized group and the traumatized group. Compared to the non-traumatized group, the traumatized group scored significantly higher in HA (Harm avoidance) and RD (Reward dependence), while lower in SD (Self-directedness). Conclusion : Overall, present results suggest that traumatic experiences may affect personality systems regardless of the development and of PTSD symptoms.

Objectives of the study This study attempted In examine, from a pedagogical point of view, how socially-handicapped children differ from normal ones in their family backgrounds, personality-traits. adaptability to school life, and their peer relationship. This study was made under the following hypothesis; 1. The family background of socially-handicapped children is less desirable than that of normal ones. 2. Personality traits of socially-handicapped children are less desirable than those of normal ones. 3. Socially handicapped children tend to be less adaptable to school life than normal ones. 4. Peer-relationship of socially-handicapped children is less desirable than of normal ones . II. Contents of study The thesis consists of the following five main parts; 1. Introduction 2. Related Studies 3. Procedure 4. Results 5. Summary and Conclusions III. Instruments The following instruments were used for this study; 1. Family background record prepared by the school. 2. The following conclusions were derived from the study 1, As compared with normal children, socially-handicapped ones have, in many cases, larger number of siblings, their families belong to lower economic bracket: their parents were indifferent to their children, and their mothers were less educated. 2. As compared with normal children, socially-handicapped ones are emotionally unstable, although they are the same as normal children in their sense of dominancy, responsibility, sociality, and confidence. 3. As compared with normal children, socially-handicapped ones are tardy in their learning, although they are almost the same as normal ones in their intelligence development. 4. As compared with normal children, socially-handicapped ones make friends more easily with pupils of other classes and schools rather than those of their own class or school.
