A Study on Performance Assessment Methods by Using Fuzzy Logic

  • Performance assessment was introduced to improvement of self-directed learning and method of assessment for differenced learning as the seventh educational curriculum is enforced. Performance assessment is overcoming limitation about problem solving ability and higher thinking abilities assessment that is problem of a written examination and get into the spotlight by way for quality of class and school normalization. But, performance assessment has problems about possibilities of assessment fault by appraisal, fairness, reliability, and validity of grading, ambiguity of grading standard, difficulty about objectivity security etc. This study proposes fuzzy performance assessment system to solve problem of the conventional performance assessment. This paper presented an objective and reliable performance assessment method through fuzzy reasoning, design fuzzy membership function and define fuzzy rule analyzing factor that influence in each sacred ground of performance assessment to account principle subject. Also, performance assessment item divides by formation estimation and subject estimation and designed membership function in proposed performance assessment method. Performance assessment result that is worked through fuzzy performance assessment system can pare down burden about appraisal's fault and provide fair and reliable assessment result through grading that have correct standard and consistency to students.

  • From the mid-1990s in Korea, performance assessment has been continuously emphasized in school mathematics and thus many researchers and teachers have been steadily studying this topic. But the concepts relevant to performance assessment and its purposes are very confusing because the mathematics educators' different views and voices are vary. As a result most mathematics teachers experience trouble in executing performance assessment properly and effectively in their math class. This unability for proper execution of performance assessment was once again revealed in this study which dealt with 15 articles on performance assessment. These 15 articles includes almost every article written on the topic of performance assessment that have been published in 4 domestic journals since December 1997. By examining this inability, it is required that its concepts and purposes should be organized with a common view and newly defined in the near future.   • The purpose of this research is to analyse the cause and effect relations among management strategies, performance assessment and management performance in the hotel industry. The research result is as follows. A management strategy of the hotel industry has influence directly on a performance assessment through the non-financial factor, the financial factor and the study evaluation factor. And a financial performance assessment and a non-financial performance assessment have influence directly on the management performance. Total effects on a management performance of the hotel industry were 0.769 in a management strategies and 1.755 in a performance assessment. In comparison in the direct effects, the management strategies do not influence the management performance directly, and management performance is revealed through a performance assessment.

초등수학교실에서의 수행평가 - 4학년교실의 사례 - (The Practice of Performance Assessment in Elementary Mathematics Classroom - cases of the 4th grade -)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the practice of performance assessment in elementary mathematics classes especially focused on 4th grade. To achieve this, three research questions were posed as follow: First, What do they prepare for performance assessment? Second, What kinds of tests do they use in mathematics performance assessment? Third, What kinds of difficulties do they have for performance assessment and what should be changed for a successful performance assessment in mathematics? To Answer the research questions, three 4th grade classes were selected from three different elementary schools in seoul and three teachers were interviewed. From the data analysis, several conclusion were drawn. First, a plan for mathematics performance assessment was not set by the class teacher who are in charge of the class. The main reason was lack of time. Second, in most of the assessment, written tests were used and the items in the tests were skill-oriented. Third, teachers thought that performance assessment was needed in mathematics. But lack of their time, knowledge and competency, it is difficult to do performance assessment in mathematics.

펴지 추론 규칙을 이용한 수행 평가 시스템 (Performance Assessment System using Fuzzy Reasoning Rule)

  • 수행 평가는 평가자에 의한 평가 오류 가능성, 채점의 공정성과 신뢰도, 타당도 문제, 채점 기준의 모호성, 객관성 확보에 대한 어려움 등의 문제가 야기되고 있다 이런한 수행 평가의 문제점을 해결하고 교사와 학생의 수행 평가 결과에 대한 만족도를 높이기 위하여, 본 논문에서는 회계 원리 과목을 대상으로 수행 평가의 각 영역에서 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하여 퍼지 소속 함수를 설계하고 퍼지 규칙을 정의하여 추론을 적용하여 객관적이고 신뢰성이 높은 수행 평가 방법을 제안하였다 또한 제안된 수행 평가 방법에서 수행 평가 항목은 형성 평가와 과제 평가로 구분하여 소속 함수를 설계하였다. 제안된 퍼지 수행 평가 시스템을 통해 산출된 수행 평가 결과는 평정자의 채점 오류에 대한 부담을 줄일 수 있으며 학생들에 게는 정확한 기준과 일관성 있는 채점을 통해 공평하고 신뢰성 있는 평가 결과를 제공한다.

  • The purpose of the study was to verify validity and reliability of performance assessment in home economics by applying performance assessment tools developed by Korean Curriculum Assessment Institute and by the researcher to a class of 17 high school female students in a rural area. For the purpose of this study, the research question was formulated and addressed:“How are the validity and reliability of performance assessment in home economics\ulcorner” The results of the study were as follows. 1. The results of testing validity a. Thirteen high school home economics teachers, whose average teaching years is ten years verified high validity in the contents of performance assessment. b. In the validity of the items that is verified being based on the scores of high school entrance examination of 2000 school year, the essay type showed its characteristics as performance assessment. c. The generalizability among assessment methods was not high. 2. The results of testing reliability Both Cronbach's $\alpha$, inter-item reliability of the assessment tools used in the research, and reliability among the raters were high. But reliability among the tasks was relatively low. This study proposed that the diverse performance methods, the increasing number of assessment, the explicit assessment criterion, and scoring criterion are needed to satisfying validity and reliability of performance assessment.

OECD 병원 성과 프로젝트의 동향과 국내 시사점 (Trend and Implication of OECD Hospital Performance Project)

  • The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which has continuously evaluated the performance of healthcare systems, has recently invested much effort into hospital performance measurement. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the hospital performance measurement programs operated by international organizations or at the national level based on the OECD's hospital performance project. Health Insurance Review & Assessment service (HIRA)'s quality assessment was analyzed based on the analytical framework of the OECD's hospital performance project. The hospital performance measurement programs of WHO, Canada, Australia, United States and United Kingdom are briefly explored, in view of the conceptual framework, key performance dimensions and indicators that are currently in use. The OECD suggested seven key dimensions of hospital performance: timeliness, efficiency, continuity, effectiveness and appropriateness, staff orientation, patient orientation and safety. The analysis of the quality assessment program of HIRA, which operates 36 diseases and procedures and 347 indicators, shows that the numbers of indicators are relatively small in the areas of safety, patient centeredness and efficiency. Continuity of care and staff orientation are not fully developed also, but the situations are similar in other countries. In conclusion, hospital performance measurement using stable and comprehensive data should be developed to improve overall system performance, and discussions on a conceptual framework that can lay out directions and key performance domains need to take into place.

Developing A Framework for Performance Assessment in Science Education

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a Framework for Performance Assessment in Science Education(FPASE). Science educators in the past have paid more attention to science curriculum and teaching strategies than assessment. In recent years, attention has turned toward performance assessment which addresses the concerns of science curriculum and instruction, and which is consistent with goals of science education at various levels of interests. Science educators are trying to do performance assessment, yet they don't have a framework that is highly qualified in terms of science educational objectives for the future, and advantages of performance assessment. We, therefore, have developed a framework for performance assessment in science education, which may be useful for science teachers to understand and assess their students' abilities. We have extracted seven domains covering students' various abilities as the important objectives of science performance assessment and grouped them into three categories: General, Science specific, and Intermediate abilities. And we developed a F-PASE with a three dimensional solid figured structure, and illustrated it as the configuration of a com. F-PASE is useful for science teachers to develop and select a science performance assessment as well as have a more advanced understanding of their students' abilities. It is a creative and novel assessment framework in terms of structure, configuration, functions and meanings. It also suggests a new vision of an assessment framework in science education.

  • 자기 주도적 학습능력의 수준별 교육을 위한 평가 방법으로서, 수행평가는 문제해결 능력과 높은 사고 능력평가에 대한 한계점을 극복하고 수업의 질과 학교 정상화를 위한 계획으로 선호되고 있다. 그러나 수행평가는 평가 오류, 채점 공정성 문제, 신뢰도 및 객관성 등의 확보에 어려움 있다. 이런 문제점을 해결하고 수행평가 만족을 높이기 위하여, 본 논문에서는 회계원리 과목을 대상으로 수행평가에 대한 각 영역에서 영향을 주는 인자를 분석하여 퍼지 소속 함수를 설계하고, 이를 적용한 객관적이고 신뢰성 높은 수행평가 방법을 제시하고자 한다.
