University Students' Perceptions of Herbs and Sensory Characteristics of Bread with Added Herbs (허브에 대한 대학생의 인치도 및 허브를 첨가한 식빵의 관능적 특성)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions of herbs as a bread additive among 880 university students(436 male and 444 female). A sensory evaluation was also undertaken to investigate the taste and qualitative aspects of breads with various herb additives such as rosemary and mint. First, rosemary was the most popular(40.9%), followed by mint(28.5%) and lavender(10.9%). Second, sensory evaluation gave a positive response rate of 85.8% for the breads and cookies with added herbs. Third, in terms of using herbs for breads and cookies, respondents favored mint as the favorite with 58.1%, followed by rosemary with 57.9%. Fourth, in terms of sensory test, the highest preference was scored by the bread with 2% mint and 2% rosemary, and this ingrediebt mixture was confirmed as the best to make herb added breads.

Teachers' Perceptions of Competencies Needed for Working in Inclusive Early Childhood Programs (유아통합교육프로그램의 일반교사와 특수교사가 갖추어야 할 자질에 대한 교사들의 인식 - 미국 교사를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine early childhood education(ECE) and early childhood special education(ECSE) teachers' perceptions of (a)important teacher competencies needed for working in inclusive early childhood programs and (b)current levels of these competencies. Sixty-two ECE teachers and 77 ECSE teachers responded to the survey developed for this study. There were no differences between the ECE teachers and ECSE teachers in the ratings of importance of the competency domains. However, the ECSE teachers had significantly higher perceptions than the ECE teachers of their self-proficiency on competencies related to child development, curriculum and instruction, assessment procedures, working with other adults, and professionalism. Both the ECE and ECSE teachers perceived the greatest need for further training in competencies related to assessment procedures and working with families and other adults.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions of the students about professionalism on the elementary teachers' science teaching through network analysis of keyword. For this study, questionnaires were conducted to elementary school students. The collected data were translated by coding and data cleaning. And then analyzed by Gephi 0.9.2 program as a tool of the network analysis. The results of this study were as follows: Top 5 words in betweenness centrality were 'smart, experiment, fun, various, and student understanding'. There was some difference of perceptions of students according to personal backgrounds(gender, grade and interest toward science class). Based on the result of this study, implications to improve elementary teachers' science teaching professionalism were suggested.

  • This study investigated the relationships among 'sense of humor', 'creativity', 'creativity in scientific humor', and 'perceptions of educational benefits for making scientific humor' of elementary students. To do this, fifth graders (n=42) at an elementary school and fifth graders (n=38) at gifted science education institutes in Seoul were selected. Tests for 'sense of humor', 'creativity', 'creativity in scientific humor', and 'perceptions of educational benefits for making scientific humor' were then administered. Analysis of the results revealed that all subcategories of 'sense of humor' had significantly positive relationships with all subcategories of 'creativity' except 'openness'. However, all subcategories of 'sense of humor' were not significantly correlated with all subcategories of 'creativity in scientific humor' and 'perception of educational benefits for making scientific humor'. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.

  • These days the predictable problem of he housewives is the economic poverty if they don't provide for their old age themselves. The purpose of this study is to investigate some influencing factors related to the housewives' perceptions behaviors and counterplans for the old age. There were significnat differences on the preparatory behaviors for the old age according to the enviornmental variables and the buying styles and lifestyles. The receptions and the preparatory behaviors for the old age was shown a positive correlation r=4.2(p<0.01) The most influencial variables on the behaviors of the old age by the housewives were in the order of the behaviors of the old age by the housewives were in the order of the joining pensions the concerns of the counterplans for the old age the timing of the economic counterplans the lmpulsive buying style the pursuit of the information the energefic activity the perceptions of the elderly living the percetions of the elderly occupation and erceptions of the silver industry. The housewives of this study were in difficulties for the economic counterplans for the old age. The most difficult problems were their health and their economic situations.

  • The Purpose of this study was to investigate secondary science teachers' perceptions on the goals of science education, science teaching strategies, science curriculum, and STS themes to ascertain the extent to which the current science programs incorporate with STS themes. The results of this study indicated that the perceptions of science teachers did not support the view that the STS themes have become established in contemporary secondary science education. However, they showed willingness to incorporate STS themes into their science teaching. Based on these results, the implementation of STS themes in science teaching were esstimated to be valuable for Korean science education.

  • The main purpose of the study was to examine relationships of child development with maternal social networks and maternal perceptions of parenting difficulty. Subjects were 90 children, ages 4 and 5, with their mothers. Child development was measured by School Readiness Test, peer nomination, and social competency ratings by teachers. Mothers responded to a questionnaire regarding social networks and parenting difficulty. The major findings of the study include: 1) Employed mothers reported receiving less emotional support and listed more in-laws and work colleagues in their social network than unemloyed mothers. 2) Mothers who perceived receiving more emotional support from networks reported less difficulty in parenting, especially in providing cognitive stimulation and daily routine care to their children. 3) Children's age and maternal perceptions of easiness in providing cognitive stimulation were the most contributing factors for predicting children's learning readiness and social competency.

The Strategy Remodeling Renovation of Traditional Fashion Markets: The Differences of Perceptions between Merchants and Consumers (의류재래시장의 리모델링 활성화 방안에 관한 연구: 재래시장 상인들과 이용 소비자들의 인식 차이를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was 1) to examine the current situation of traditional fashion markets, 2) to compare the perceptions toward remodeling traditional retail markets between retail merchants and consumers, and 3) to provide the new remodeling renovation of traditional fashion retail markets. The study subjects comprised 127 merchants and 128 consumers. Both the merchants and consumers tended to have a negative perception of future fashion traditional markets. Consumers tended to have a higher perception of fashion store service, such as A/S and salesperson's service, than merchants. In addition, there were significant differences in perceptions toward remodeling renovation of traditional markets between retail merchants and consumers. Based on these results, a fashion marketing strategy regarding digital network is suggested.

A Study on the Differences between Mothers and Children in Gender-role Attitudes and their Perceptions on Gender-role Socialization (어머니와 아동의 성역할 태도와 성역할 사회화에 대한 지각차이에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigated the differences between mothers and children in their gender-role attitudes and their perceptions on gender-role socialization. The data was collected from 167 6th graders and their mothers in Seoul. Boy's gender-role attitude was found significantly different from that of mothers while girl's gender-role attitude was more consistent with that of mothers than boys. In their perceptions on gender-role socialization, mothers reported that they emphasized both feminine and masculine behavior for their children. However, children reported that their mother emphasized feminine behavior for girls and masculine behavior for boys.

A Study on the Consumers' Perceptions of Fair Tourism Experiences (공정여행 경험에 대한 소비자인식 연구)

  • Recently, interest in fair tourism and demand for this service has been steadily increasing. This study examined the tourists' perceptions of their fair tourism experiences. Phenomenological method was adopted as a qualitative research approach. Participants were nine adults who were interviewed in depth on their experiences of fair tourism. Data analysis led to the emergence of seven categories (sharing and volunteerism, environment and animal protection, tourism created together, communication and relationship, from consumption to experience, ethicality and fairness, contemplating life) and 21 subcategories. This research was a significant step in providing options to explore the improvement of ethical-tourism and may have implications for the future development of tourism. This study also has various implications for tour operators, consumers, and government. In future all stakeholders should make efforts to establish the tour culture which encourages consumers to consider the ethicality and fairness of their choices as tourists.
