  • The purposes of the study were to introduce a new approach in overcoming career problems of adolescents with multicultural backgrounds, and to explore public views on their careers. Using the Q-methodology, the types of perception toward multicultural adolescents' careers and their features from diverse views were drawn, Data from 35 participants and 34 statements were analyzed by using the QUANL-PC program. The identified perception types were classified as four types: neutral perception type, economic hardship perception type, lack of career training perception type, and lack of professional support perception type. The results found that views toward career problem of adolescents with multicultural backgrounds are neither positive nor negative, and their perceptions were more varied and specific beyond the dichotomy. Therefore, to promote the careers development of adolescents with multicultural backgrounds, more individualized career supporting strategy should be provided based on the applicable perception types.

  • This study analyzed the characteristics of diverse information adoption pathways per pathway of information composition category including 'information perception', 'information assessment', and 'information adoption' and examined information adoption characteristics per pattern. In addition, differences among agricultural researchers and farmers per information adoption stage were analyzed. According to these analyses, as for farmers' information adoption pathways, while the formal extension type and the situational reaction diffusion type used the direct pathway of 'information perception ${\rightarrow}$ information adoption,'the agriculturist connection type and the systematic approach type did not use the direct pathway of 'information perception ${\rightarrow}$ information adoption' but, instead, adopted information by moving from the 'information perception ${\rightarrow}$ information assessment' pathway to the 'information assessment ${\rightarrow}$ information adoption' pathway, with information assessment as the intermediation. In the case of farmers, information adoption was the highest in comparison with information assessment and information perception in all patterns whereas, in the case of agricultural researchers, the results were exactly opposite those of farmers. By suggesting an information adoption pathway appropriate to each pattern, this study sought to enhance information adoption.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of type of body shape perception on health concern, depression, dietary restriction and exercise practice in university students. Methods: A descriptive design was used. Data were collected from 308 university students by using structured questionnaires. Results: The results showed that 65.6% of the students believe that they are overweight. There are no differences in health concern, depression, and exercise practice among the skinny perception group, satisfaction group, and obesity perception group. However, there was a significant difference in dietary restriction among the three groups (p<.001). The type of body shape perception was significantly associated with dietary restriction (p=.007). Conclusion: Integrated and effective interventions are necessary for university students to establish healthy body image and learn healthy weight control.

  • This paper investigated the effects of frequency band limitation on perceptual characteristics of Korean vowels. Monosyllabic speech (144 syllables of CV type, 56 syllables of VC type, 8 syllables of V type) produced by two announcers were low- and high-pass filtered with cutoff frequencies ranging from 300 to 5000 Hz. Six listeners with normal hearing performed perception tests by types of filter and cutoff frequencies. We reported phoneme recognition rates and types of perception error of band-limited Korean vowels to examine how frequency distortion in the process of speech transmission affect listener's perception.

  • This study was conducted to test the significance of differences in the tactual difference thresholds and perception time for tactual direction type and finger type and radius size based on small circular button. The results show that difference threshold of vertical tactual perception is significantly greater than horizontal perception, but there are no significant differences in difference thresholds among finger types and radius sizes. Also, there are no significant differences in tactual perception time among tactual direction types, finger types, and radius types. These findings are applicable for tactual user interface design.

  • The purpose of this study was to survey teachers' perception of classroom space utilization through analyzing the physical environment of elementary school classrooms (56 classrooms in 10 schools). Most of the teachers arranged desks in the two person parallel type (sectional layout : standard type) for their classes. Although the number was small, some classrooms used the T type, H type, U type, group type, and the teachers of such cases used these layouts for children's play activities or group learning. Some teachers changed the desk layout depending on the contents of learning or for different atmosphere of class, but about 40% of the teachers used the same classroom layout without any change during a semester. When the teachers' perception of classroom space utilization was examined according to the type and change of desk layout, the quantity and characteristics of posts, the position of posting spaces, and the size of activity spaces in the classroom, most of the teachers tended to be conventional without any characteristic, and only 16% of them were relatively active in utilizing classroom spaces. In addition, teachers of a relatively small class were more active in utilizing classroom spaces. In particular, perception was very low to utilize the classroom as a space for children's life or play activities or various types of learning. These findings suggest that it is necessary to improve teachers' perception of classroom space utilization in the future.

  • In this paper, we propose students' perception of software education according to the type of school. So, in this study, 47373 students were surveyed about the perception of SW education, and the results of the questionnaire were analyzed according to school type, gender, school level, experience of software education and event, and duration of software education experience. As a result, students attending software education lead schools showed the highest perception about software education, followed by software education research school and general school. In gender, males were more positive than females. The level of satisfaction and effectiveness of software education in school level was higher as the school level was lower, but the perception and career area of software education was higher as the school level was higher. In addition, software training and event experience have a positive effect on students' perception of software education, and the perception of software education changes positively as the duration of software education increases.

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify types of subjective perception of their disease by adolescents who have insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) in order to better understand these adolescents and to determine effective nursing interventions. Method: Q-methodology was used in this study. The 36 Q-statements were selected through a literature review and in-depth interviews with participants. Data were collected from a 33 P-sample by sorting the 36 Q-statements into a 9 point standard. The data were analyzed using the PC QUANL program. Results: Five types of perception were identified: Type 1 being a recipient and having a will to cope with the disease, Type 2, seeking support from others, Type 3, emotional and negative coping, Type 4, pursuing own beliefs but with conflict at the same time, and Type 5 feeling under heavy pressure as their condition made them feel insecure, and they felt sorry to their families. Conclusion: The findings of the study are expected to contribute to improving clinical practices by helping nurses have a broader understanding of adolescents with IDDM, and exploring ideal nursing interventions.
