KOREATECH has introduced a long-term co-op program called IPP (Industry Professional Practice) to address problems in engineering education of Korea since 2012. In order to evaluate and improve the IPP program, the IPP Center of KOREATECH has developed a comprehensive performance evaluation scheme on the basis of the Kirkpatrick's four stage performance evaluation model for training programs. This study aimed to analyze student questionnaire survey data from the IPP performance evaluation scheme, which was acquired before and after IPP terms in 2013 and measured students' perceptions on the five aspects of major competencies, non-major competencies, perception of and satisfaction with the IPP program and attitudes to occupation. The findings showed that the IPP program was effective to a certain degree at enhancing non-major competencies and attitudes to occupation of students. Participating students were quite satisfied with their jobs and companies. In the last part, several directions for improving the effectiveness of the IPP program were discussed.
The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of the characteristics of dietitians, the characteristics of school food services, equipment ratio of HACCP facility/equipment and perception of barriers to HACCP implementation on external and internal audit of food safety/sanitation management performance in school food service. An e-mail survey was conducted with 144 dietitians in Gyeongbuk Province. A response rate was 57.6% (N = 83) and data was analyzed using SPSS windows (ver. 12.0). Dietitian perceived facilities/equipment-related and stakeholder-related as the big barriers in implementing a HACCP system. Total scores of sanitation/safety management performance for external and internal audit were similar at 92 and 91 out of 100, respectively. 'Facilities/equipment' and 'HACCP system' categories in both external and internal audit were rated the lowest. As dietitian perceived facilities/equipment-related (p < 0.001) and stakeholder-related (p < 0.05) barriers to HACCP implementation were greater, the scores of the external and internal audits were significantly lower. As dietitian perceived barriers for all categories were greater, the scores of internal audits were significantly lower (p <0.05). As a result of multiple regression analyses, the scores of the external audit was positively associated with career as a school food service dietitian, but was negatively associated with barriers related to facility/equipment, while the scores of the internal audit was negatively associated with barriers related to facility/equipment and employees. This study suggests that supporting programs on securing the facilities/equipment and employee training are needed for successful HACCP implementation in school food service.
Objectives: This study consisted of a literature review on oral health among people with disabilities, and to present the factors that should be considered in developing an oral health program for people with disabilities. Methods: The key words 'people with disabilities' and 'oral health' were searched in 4 Korean academic journals and 5 online search engines and a total of 635 papers were identified. Duplicate papers were removed, and the literature selection criteria were applied to the remaining papers. Finally, a total of 45 papers were used in the review. Fourth, the most frequently discussed policy task was expansion of research subjects, followed by oral hygiene and policy development. Conclusions: To enhance the oral health of people with disabilities who have difficulty in keeping their teeth clean and healthy on their own, development of an oral hygiene training program is required not only for people with disabilities, but also for guardians and teachers. It is equally important to examine oral health behavior that could potentially affect the status of oral health and create a more accurate and systematic oral hygiene method. In addition, the government, together with various other research institutes, should conduct an oral health survey of a representative sample of people with disabilities to determine oral health status and facilitate improvements to oral hygiene programs.
Recently, security issues on industrial technology are undergoing rapid changes around the world. Developed countries are establishing response strategies to protect their own core technologies while creating conflicts with global value chains and foreign capital movement. Also in Korea, we are approaching industrial security issues in the mid- to long-term industrial competitiveness. The purpose of this study is to survey on the awareness of the industrial security ecosystem and derive key policy issues. Based on a three round survey, four policies were suggested as followings : systemization of industrial security control tower, enhancement of security company's technical skills and training of security specialists, improvement of technology leakage prevention system through retirement personnel and M&A, reinforcement of research security in R&D process and proactive technology protection. It is hoped that this study will serve as a basis for policy-making as an evidence-based study reflecting the policy demands of industrial security.
The purpose of this article was to identify trend in Arthritis research and to provide ba an approach of Arthritis research. The results of analysis of 69 Arthritis articles public year of between 1970-1999 found that most articles(27.6%, n=19) were published since few(10.1%, n=7) were before 1994. Vast majority of articles(79.8%, n=55) were printed in The Journal of Rheumatology Health, and 79.8%(n=55) of those were quantitative research, 8.7%(n=6) were qualitative research, and 14%(n=1) was methodological research. 29.0%(n=20) of quantitative research were carried in experimental design and over half(50.8%, n=35) in nonexperimental design. Having concerned the types of treatment(or intervention) used in experimental study, the most common treatment was 'exercise' (45.0%, n=9), and other less common were 'self-help education(15.0%, n=3), home care(10.0%, n=2) supportive care(10.0%, n=2), flexibility exercise combined with local heat therapy(5.0%, n=1), relaxation training(5.0%, n=1). Of the types of exercise, aquatic exercise was 30.0%(n=6). The effect of exercise on outcome variable was found to be most strong among the other types of treatment. 18 articles of nonexperimental research were correlational research. From the analysis of correlational research, 29 concepts were identified, and the relationship between depression and other variable were strongly reported. In descriptive studies, most commonly physiological variables were examined in 5 articles(29.5%). Only one study(5.9%) explored patient's perception of the causal factors and those causality. In qualitative researches, two study were carried out by the means of grounded theory. Majority of those subjects were RA patients, and the largest number of sample were 23 and the smallest was 1 In two studies, patient's perceived causality of RA was identified as a research problems, and an experience of ADL, fatigue Phenomenon, an experience of having a total knee replacement with osteoarthritis were each found in one study. Methodological research was carried out to test validity and reliability of the RA Fatigue Scale.
Objective:The purpose of this study is to suggest the methodology for establishment of safety culture in industry. Background: There have been studies indicating positive relation between safety culture and safety performance. The university admission system for talented students in computer and information areas has been mainly implemented during early admission period centering on universities located in metropolitan area since 1997. However, the current trend is that total number of selected students and universities that are selecting are continuously declining and 14 students were selected from 2 universities in school year 2013. Accordingly, it is difficult to expect positive effects on education related to information on secondary school curriculum, as well as train and select very talented students in certain areas. Such phenomenon is a result of insufficient educational activities on information of secondary school curriculum, as well as a reflection of social perception in the areas of computer and information. It shows that major variable with significant effects of university admission system has not been properly considered in the policy of training talented students at national level and the administration of secondary school curriculum on computer and information areas. Accordingly, there is a need for a comprehensive approach that considers the method and standards of universities' student selection system when establishing related future policy.
The augmented reality(AR) technology enables to acquire various image information at the same time by combining virtual image information with the user's viewpoint. Purpose: This study aimed to describe Korean nursing home nurses' perceptions on dysphagia management and their working experiences of older adults with dysphagia. Methods: Using a purposive sampling design, 23 eligible nurses were interviewed as four focus groups from 4 facilities out of nursing homes. The qualitative data from focus group interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis to classify common themes into larger categories. Results: Two main themes on the attributes of caring nursing home residents with dysphagia were 'Need for nursing resources' and 'Need for support'. In addition, four subthemes emerged as a result of analysis: 'need for nursing protocols for assessing and managing dysphagia', 'need for emergency care skills of nurses and nurse assistants', 'need for prompt and accurate management by cooperation of physicians and therapists', and 'need for partnership upon comprehension of visiting family members concerning dysphagia'. Conclusion: Nursing home nurses fully recognized the importance of dysphagia management; however, they experienced substantial barriers due to lack of adequate nursing protocols or partnership with family caregivers, insufficient training for emergency care, and deficient support from medical staff. Development of nursing guidelines tailored to the nursing home context and based on partnership among medical experts and family caregivers is needed.
The latest hardware and software techniques are combined to give safe walking guidance and convenient service of realtime walking assistance system for visually impaired person. This system consists of obstacle detection and perception, place recognition, and sign recognition for pedestrian can safely walking to arrive at their destination. In this paper, we exploit the sign object detection system in subway station for sign recognition that one of the important factors of walking assistance system. This paper suggest the adaptive feature map that can be robustly extract the sign object region from complexed environment with light and noise. And recognize a sign using fast zernike moment features which is invariant under translation, rotation and scale of object during walking. We considered three types of signs as arrow, restroom, and exit number and perform the training and recognizing steps through adaboost classifier. The experimental results prove that our method can be suitable and stable for real-time system through yields on the average 87.16% stable detection rate and 20 frame/sec of operation time for three types of signs in 5000 images of sign database.
