  • Purpose : The study aim was to determine the present state of occupational therapists in Korea in terms of the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO). We collected basic data for future research by investigating recognition by occupational therapists for applications of the MOHO and the necessity thereof. Specifically, we explored ways to effectively apply the MOHO in occupational therapy. Methods : We conducted a study from December 3, 2023, to January 18, 2024. A survey was administered to 163 occupational therapists. The general characteristics, recognition, and necessity of the MOHO were examined using a frequency analysis and descriptive statistics. Results : The most responses to "degree of ease of access to the MOHO information" were for "disagree" 56 people(34 %). Regarding "degree of satisfaction with information about [the] MOHO," 53 people (33 %) responded with "disagree" (the highest response rate). Only 22 % had applied the MOHO previously. Second, occupational therapists thought that the MOHO should be applied in occupational therapy clinical practice; they also believed that related education was needed for occupational therapy university/college students and occupational therapists. In response to the question, "What channels do you think MOHO education will be helpful for?", 118 people (32 %) answered "continuing education at the association level," and 86 people (23 %) answered "educational institutions aimed at MOHO." Conclusion : Based on these results, I recommend the following. For application of the MOHO in occupational therapy clinical practice, an occupation-based concept must first be established. In addition, related knowledge must be acquired through the expansion of education regarding the MOHO. The efficient application of the MOHO will ultimately lead to improvement in the health of clients.

  • This paper presents a system of handwritten numerals recognition, which is based on Ant-miner algorithm (data mining based on Ant colony optimization). At the beginning, three distinct fractures (also called attributes) of each numeral are extracted. The attributes are Loop zones, End points, and Feature codes. After these data are extracted, the attributes are in the form of attribute = value (eg. End point10 = true). The extraction is started by dividing the numeral into 12 zones. The numbers 1-12 are referenced for each zone. The possible values of Loop zone attribute in each zone are "true" and "false". The meaning of "true" is that the zone contains the loop of the numeral. The Endpoint attribute being "true" means that this zone contains the end point of the numeral. There are 24 attributes now. The Feature code attribute tells us how many lines of a numeral are passed by the referenced line. There are 7 referenced lines used in this experiment. The total attributes are 31. All attributes are used for construction of the classification rules by the Ant-miner algorithm in order to classify 10 numerals. The Ant-miner algorithm is adapted with a little change in this experiment for a better recognition rate. The results showed the system can recognize all of the training set (a thousand items of data from 50 people). When the unseen data is tested from 10 people, the recognition rate is 98 %.

  • The conventional credit card number recognition system generally needs a card to be placed in a designated location before its processing, which is not an ideal user experience especially for people with visual impairment. To improve the user experience, this paper proposes a novel algorithm that can automatically detect the location of a credit card number based on the fact that a group of sixteen digits has a fixed aspect ratio. The proposed algorithm first performs morphological operations to obtain multiple candidates of the credit card number with >4:1 aspect ratio, then recognizes the card number by testing each candidate via OCR and BIN matching techniques. Implemented with OpenCV and Firebase ML, the proposed scheme achieves 77.75% accuracy in the credit card number recognition task.

  • Currently, tire has a variety of information to know the information of the tire are displayed on the tire side. the market are marked with raised letters showing a variety of information relating to the tires. Such information enables people and tire related companies to distinguish between tires upon the information marked on the tires. Generally, people see the information including max press, manufacturing date, etc. Accordingly, studies on automated recognition of raised letters on tire by using image processing technology have been presented consistently. However, they lack a method for recognition of letters and improvement of the recognition. Moreover, the raised letters have been previously recognized through image processing. Further, to obtain the character recognition of a conventional side in video, it is suitably utilized the effects of lighting time of acquisition, so as part of the background and the character has a gray level values between approximately the same, is the part that is not relatively clear are many scattered. In this paper, we see the characters of the tire side using the laser sensor, recognition, was designed for character recognition of the tire side.

  • The material of database for speech recognition should include phonetic phenomena as much as possible. At the same time, such material should be phonetically compact with low redundancy[1, 2]. The phonetic phenomena in continuous speech is the key problem in speech recognition. This paper describes the processing of a set of sentences collected from the database of 1993 and 1994 "People's Daily"(Chinese newspaper) which consist of news, politics, economics, arts, sports etc.. In those sentences, both phonetic phenometla and sentence patterns are included. In continuous speech, phonemes always appear in the form of allophones which result in the co-articulary effects. The task of designing a speech database should be concerned with both intra-syllabic and inter-syllabic allophone structures. In our experiments, there are 404 syllables, 415 inter-syllabic diphones, 3050 merged inter-syllabic triphones and 2161 merged final-initial structures in read speech. Statistics on the database from "People's Daily" gives and evaluation to all of the possible phonetic structures. In this sentence set, we first consider the phonetic balances among syllables, inter-syllabic diphones, inter-syllabic triphones and semi-syllables with their junctures. The syllabic balances ensure the intra-syllabic phenomena such as phonemes, initial/final and consonant/vowel. the rest describes the inter-syllabic jucture. The 1560 sentences consist of 96% syllables without tones(the absent syllables are only used in spoken language), 100% inter-syllabic diphones, 67% inter-syllabic triphones(87% of which appears in Peoples' Daily). There are rougWy 17 kinds of sentence patterns which appear in our sentence set. By taking the transitions between syllables into account, the Chinese speech recognition systems have gotten significantly high recognition rates[3, 4]. The following figure shows the process of collecting sentences. [people's Daily Database] -> [segmentation of sentences] -> [segmentation of word group] -> [translate the text in to Pin Yin] -> [statistic phonetic phenomena & select useful paragraph] -> [modify the selected sentences by hand] -> [phonetic compact sentence set]

  • Objective: This study presents the effect of visual feedback on one-hand gesture performance in vision-based gesture recognition system when people use gestures to control a screen device remotely. Backgroud: gesture interaction receives growing attention because it uses advanced sensor technology and it allows users natural interaction using their own body motion. In generating motion, visual feedback has been to considered critical factor affect speed and accuracy. Method: three types of visual feedback(arrow, star, and animation) were selected and 20 gestures were listed. 12 participants perform each 20 gestures while given 3 types of visual feedback in turn. Results: People made longer hand trace and take longer time to make a gesture when they were given arrow shape feedback than star-shape feedback. The animation type feedback was most preferred. Conclusion: The type of visual feedback showed statistically significant effect on the length of hand trace, elapsed time, and speed of motion in performing a gesture. Application: This study could be applied to any device that needs visual feedback for device control. A big feedback generate shorter length of motion trace, less time, faster than smaller one when people performs gestures to control a device. So the big size of visual feedback would be recommended for a situation requiring fast actions. On the other hand, the smaller visual feedback would be recommended for a situation requiring elaborated actions.

  • Voice Command systems are important means of ensuring accessibility to digital devices for use in situations where both hands are not free or for people with disabilities. Interests in services using speech recognition technology have been increasing. In this study, we developed a mobile writing application using voice recognition and voice command technology which helps people create and edit documents easily. This application is characterized by the minimization of the touch on the screen and the writing of memo by voice. We have systematically designed a mode to distinguish voice writing and voice command so that the writing and execution system can be used simultaneously in one voice interface. It provides a shortcut function that can control the cursor by voice, which makes document editing as convenient as possible. This allows people to conveniently access writing applications by voice under both physical and environmental constraints.
