  • In an asymmetrical speed channel environment like asymmetric digital subscriber line, the up-link bandwidth is normally smaller than the down-link bandwidth, which will lead to extremely low utilization of down-link bandwidth when current P2P video transmission is applied. To overcome this, a new fast P2P video transmission method applied in an asymmetrical speed channel environment is proposed in this paper. On the basis of the many-to-one concept, the proposed method uses a new multipeer aggregation technique to enhance the utilization of down-link bandwidth. In addition, an adaptive peer assignment algorithm is also introduced in order to minimize the overall transmission time. Experimental results show that by using our proposed method, the utilization of down-link bandwidth is significantly improved, and the overall transmission time is greatly reduced.

  • To discover objects of interest in unstructured peer-to-peer networks, the peers rely on flooding query messages which create incredible network traffic. This article evaluates the performance of an unstructured Gnutella-like protocol over mobile ad-hoc networks and proposes modifications to improve its performance. This paper offers an enhanced mechanism for an unstructured Gnutella-like network with improved peer features to better meet the mobility requirement of ad-hoc networks. The proposed system introduces a novel caching optimization technique and enhanced ultrapeer selection scheme to make communication more efficient between peers and ultrapeers. The paper also describes an enhanced query mechanism for efficient searching by applying multiple walker random walks with a jump and replication technique. According to the simulation results, the proposed system yields better performance than Gnutella, XL-Gnutella, and random walk in terms of the query success rate, query response time, network load, and overhead.

  • Recently, the rapid growth of Internet technology and the deployment of high speed networks make many kinds of multimedia services possible. Preexisting multimedia services are designed based on the client/server model which has the problems such as the network failure and the low speed communication due to the high load on the central server. In order to solve these problems, peer-to-peer networks are introduced and expanded through Internet environments. In this paper, we propose a pure peer-to-peer network based resource discovery mechanism for multimedia services. In the proposed scheme, each host maintains the location information of resources which are recently requested by other hosts as well as that oi the replicas of local resources. The proposed scheme has the faster response time and incurs the smaller traffic than the preexisting discovery schemes in pure peer-to-peer network environments. Also, by decentralizing the location information and differentiating the reply path, our proposed scheme can solve the search result loss problem that occurs when the network is unsettled.

  • An interest-based P2P constructs the peer connections based on similarities for efficient search of resources. A clustering technique using peer similarities as data is an effective approach to group the most relevant peers. However, the separation of groups produced from clustering lowers the scalability of a P2P network. Moreover, the interest-based approach is only concerned with user-level grouping where topology-awareness on the physical network is not considered. This paper proposes an efficient scalable search for the interest-based P2P system. A scalable multi-ring (SMR) based on fuzzy clustering handles the grouping of relevant peers and the proposed scalable search utilizes the SMR for scalability of peer queries. In forming the multi-ring, a minimized route function is used to determine the shortest route to connect peers on the physical network. Performance evaluation showed that the SMR acquired an accurate peer grouping and improved the connectivity rate of the P2P network. Also, the proposed scalable search was efficient in finding more replicated files throughout the peer network compared to other traditional P2P approaches.

  • The reciprocal virtue of peer-to-peer networking has stimulated an explosion of peer population and service capacity, ensuring rapid content distribution in peer-to-peer networks. Critical issues such as peer churn, free riding, and skewed workload significantly affect performance results such as service agility, fairness, and resource utilization. To resolve these problems systematically, this study proposes a peer assignment scheme that supports fair peer-to-peer file sharing applications. The proposed scheme exploits the peer duality of both server-oriented peer capacity and client-oriented peer contribution. Accordingly, the system server can prioritize download requests and appropriately assign server peers to uploading file objects. Several functional extensions, including peer substitution and elimination, bandwidth adjustment, and distributed modification, help cope with subtle situations of service starvation and download blocking, and hence make the system design robust and amenable. Simulation results show this design is examined under both centralized and distributed peer-to-peer environments. Performance results confirm that the proposed mechanisms are simple but effective in maintaining service agility and fairness, without loss of overall service capacity in peer-to-peer files sharing systems.

  • A peer-to-peer(P2P) network is inherently vulnerable to malicious attacks from participating peers because of its open, flat, and autonomous nature. This paper addresses the problem of effectively defending from active attacks of malicious peers at bootstrapping phase and at online phase, respectively. We propose a secure membership handling protocol to protect the assignment of ID related things to a newly joining peer with the aid of a trusted entity in the network. The trusted entities are only consulted when new peers are joining and are otherwise uninvolved in the actions of the P2P networks. For the attacks in online phase, we present a novel message structure applied to each message transmitted on the P2P overlay. It facilitates the detection of message alteration, replay attack and a message with wrong information. Taken together, the proposed techniques deter malicious peers from cheating and encourage good peers to obey the protocol of the network. The techniques assume a basic P2P overlay network model, which is generic enough to encompass a large class of well-known P2P networks, either unstructured or not.

  • Home network providers have many worries about providing home network services with an expandable, reliable, flexible and low-cost structure according to the expanding market environment. The existing client-server system has various problems such as complexity and high costs in providing home network services. In this paper we propose the P2P-SIP structure. P2P communication terminal supporting access of distributed resources provides functions which the existing SIP-based network devices have. Because diverse terminals in a home network access through networks, also, partitioning network domains with home gateways to manage, and applying the network-based PMIPv6(Proxy Mobile IPv6) technology considering mobility of terminals would help to have a more efficient home network structure. Especially, the proposed P2P-SIP structure proves itself as a very efficient structure to have an outstanding expandability among different home networks in a region, and to reduce maintenance costs.

  • Mobile P2P(Peer-to-Peer) protocols in MANET(mobile ad-hoc networks) have gained much attention recently. Existing P2P protocols can be categorized into structured and unstructured ones. In MANET, structured P2P protocols show large control traffic because they does not consider the locality of P2P data and unstructured P2P protocols have a scalability problem with respect to the number of nodes. Hybrid P2P protocols combine advantages of the structured and unstructured P2P protocols. Cluster-based P2P protocol is one of the hybrid P2P protocols. Our study makes an analysis of the cluster-based P2P protocol and derives the optimal cluster formation in MANET. In the derived optimal cluster formation, the cluster-based P2P protocol shows better performance than Gnutella protocol with respect to control traffic.

  • Now, smart phone markets are grows quickly. So it is needed research of CDN(Contents Delivery Network) technology for contents transmission in mobile networks. Especially the services of smart phone are focused on open platform model. So P2P(Peer to Peer) protocols will be used for mobile network because it is a distributed network architecture composed of participants that make a portion of their resources directly available to other network participants, without the need for a central server. Current research of P2P protocols for mobile network are not activated. The reason is appropriate in the mobile P2P network simulation environment, since it is not provided. So, in this paper we design a mobile P2P simulation system for CDN based on mobile P2P.
