Objectives: This study was conducted to examine the factors related to the perceived peer smoking prevalence for adolescents. Methods: A self-administrated questionnaire was administered to 352 students in a technical high school in Kangwon Province in May, 2002. The questions included in the questionnaire were concerned with the estimated number of smokers among ten students of the same grade in their school, the sociodemographic characteristics, the smoking-related behaviors and attitudes, and the smoking-related environments. All the students had their expiratory carbon monoxide level measured with EC50 Micro-Smokerlyzer? to verify their smoking status. Multiple regression analysis was applied for data analysis using Windows SPSS 11.5. Results: The former and current smokers overestimated the peer smoking prevalence. Multiple regression analysis for estimating the peer smoking prevalence for the male showed that the perceived smoking prevalence was higher in the female students than in the male students, higher in those students whose mothers had a higher educational level, who had smoked more frequently, who had more best friends smoking, and who had a higher actual smoking rate of the class. For estimating the peer smoking prevalence for the female, the perceived smoking prevalence was higher in the female students than in the male students, higher in those who smoked more frequently, whose five best friends smoked, who had higher actual smoking rate of the class, and who had smoking siblings. Conclusions: This study showed that a higher perceived peer smoking rate is related with their own smoking history and smoking frequency, the smoking related environment, and gender. Smoking prevention and smoking cessation programs need to focus on correcting the falsely perceived smoking prevalence.

In this study, characteristics of cultural disposition and peer conflict resolution strategies and the relationship between cultural dispositions and peer conflict resolution strategies of elementary school children were investigated. In order to achieve this research purpose, the following research questions were established. First, what are the characteristics of cultural dispositions that children have? Second, what are the characteristics of conflict resolution strategies that children use? Third, what are the relationships between cultural dispositions and peer conflict resolution strategies? The subjects of this study were 564(283 male and 281 female) 5th and 6th graders. Research instruments used to collect data were INDCOL and Conflict Resolution Strategy Scale. Collected data were analyzed using Descriptives, t-test, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, Cross-tabs and Two-way ANOVA. As a whole, children strongly showed collectivistic pattern and there were no sex differences in terms of cultural dispositions. The distributions of styles were in the order of HC>VI>VC>HI. The distribution of conflict resolution strategies generally were in the order of integrating and compromising>Avoiding>Dominating>Obliging for total sample and there were significant sex differences in the styles of conflict resolution strategies. This study also found that there were significant correlations between cultural dispositions and conflict resolution strategies. integrating/compromising and dominating style were different according to cultural dispositions but there were no interactive effect of sex and cultural dispositions in conflict resolution strategies. Finally, the implications of this study on theory and practice were discussed and suggestions for further study were made.
Nowadays, transmission bandwidth for network traffic is increasing and the type is varied such as peer-to-peer (PZP), real-time video, and so on, because distributed computing environment is spread and various network-based applications are developed. However, as PZP traffic occupies much volume among Internet backbone traffics, transmission bandwidth and quality of service(QoS) of other network applications such as web, ftp, and real-time video cannot be guaranteed. In previous research, the port-based technique which checks well-known port number and the Deep Packet Inspection(DPI) technique which checks the payload of packets were suggested for solving the problem of the P2P traffics, however there were difficulties to apply those methods to detection of P2P traffics because P2P applications are not used well-known port number and payload of packets may be encrypted. A proposed algorithm for identifying P2P heavy traffics based on flow transport parameters and behavioral characteristics can solve the problem of the port-based technique and the DPI technique. The focus of this paper is to identify P2P heavy traffic flows rather than all P2P traffics. P2P traffics are consist of two steps i)searching the opposite peer which have some contents ii) downloading the contents from one or more peers. We define P2P flow patterns on these P2P applications' features and then implement the system to classify P2P heavy traffics.
Adolescence is vulnerable to various Health Risk Behaviors (HRB). These behaviors can affect his remaining life as well as adolescence, thus prevention of HRB is a critical issue in health education. This study is aimed to provide basic information for prevention of HRB. Thus, this study was conducted to analyze the impact of peer group's health risk behaviors on health risk perception (HRP) and that of health risk perception on health risk behaviors based on 832 respondents. The 852 subjects were selected in six middle and high schools in Seoul through random sampling. Data were collected from September, 18-October, 21, 1998, and the 832 data were analyzed after excluding the 20 incomplete and inaccurate data. Questionnaire items and measures are based on an instrument to measure Perceived Health Risk Perception, which Hodge B.C. developed in 1992. Cronbach alpha is used to test the reliability. The reliability of HRP and HRB is 0.9473, 0.8768 in this study, Statistical analysis divided into four phases. First, the impact of socio-demographic characteristics on HRP is analyzed by oneway ANOV A. Male students have lower HRP than female students. As grade goes up, HRP is getting lower. Perceived higher concern of parents and HRP are correlated. And the experience of school health education and HRP are correlated. Second, the impact of peer group's HRB on the HRP is analyzed by linear regression. Peer group's HRB and HRP are negatively correlated, Third, the impact of HRP on HRB is analyzed by linear regression. There is a correlation between high HRP and low HRB. Fourth, Powerful impact factors on HRB are analyzed by stepwise multiple regression. Grade, gender, peer group's HRB, and related HRP is entered as independent variables. Because of correlation between entered variables, three interaction variables between grade, gender, peer group's HRB and related HRP also entered, In general, peer group's HRB is the most accountable factor to HRB. And Interaction variable between HRP and peer group's HRB and HRB are negatively correlated. These results indicate that HRP may reduce the impact of peer group's HRB on HRB. Some recommendations are as follows: First, health educational programs suitable for gender and grade are required. Second, a systematic cooperation between school and home is necessary for effective prevention of HRB. Third, the educational effect for decreasing HRB by increasing HRP is statistically assisted. However, peer group has much stronger impact on HRB than subjective HRP, thus special consideration and management are necessary for peer group which does HRB more frequently.
Peer relationships in young students' communities are one of the important factors influencing the cognitive and affective domains of learning. Moreover, students who join the special program for gifted students possess differential peer relationships from the students in general classes. This study aims to explore the differences of 5th grade five science-gifted students' peer relationships between students in special classes for gifted students and general classes. Five students in the special program for gifted students, managed by the Office of Education in a southern city, participated in this study. Social network analyses were utilized to explore participants' peer relationships; the students' homeroom teacher was interviewed to explore the contextual and in-depth characteristics of gifted students' peer relationships. The results illustrated four cases of peer relationships: (1) smart loner (2) my study mate (3) I'm the best in my class, and (4) a good friend anywhere. This study identified that the gifted students possessed diverse peer relationships in both the special program and general classroom. In addition, this study suggests that the program for gifted students needs to be specially designed based on the gifted students' peer relationship.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of protective and risk factors with adolescent delinquency. Using nationally representative data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (Add Health) project, the delinquency level and the influence of individual characteristics, dyadic relationships in the family, school and peer variables on adolescent delinquency were examined by gender. Boys and girls differed in delinquency level with boys showing significantly higher delinquency than girls. The relative influence of protective and risk factors in individual, familial, peer, and school contexts differed by gender as well. More diverse variables influenced the delinquency level of girls than that of boys.
This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of good science teachings regarded by preservice elementary school teachers. It also aimed to suggest a direction of peer teaching practice to help preservice teachers' professional development. Adjacency pairs were adopted to analyze the characteristics of good science teachings. The results showed that pre-service elementary teachers were accustomed to adjacency pairs. Almost of their discourse were organized by adjacency pairs. 'Question-Answer' and 'Request-Accept' were mainly used in science classes by pre-service elementary teachers. Based on the findings, the study suggested science teacher educators to provide chances to analyze exemplary science teachers' science class or chances to analyze their science teachings in terms of competence of science classroom discourse.

This study aims to provide basic evidence for establishing prevention programs of school' mental health by identifying the factors of middle and high school student's depression and suicidal ideation related to stress of peer-relationship. For this purpose, we analyzed the data of 6,924 (who Experienced stress related to peer-relationship) among the 2012 Korean Youth Health Risk Behavior Online Survey(8th). In demographic characteristics, subjective academic achievement affects depression in the case of girls. In health-related characteristics, medical treatment by violence, drinking experience, smoking experience have an effect on depression in the case of boys. Subjective health, drinking experience, smoking experience, drug experience are the factors affecting suicidal ideation both boys and girls. In order to promote mental health of youth, school-based prevention education complementing existing realistic problems needs to be implemented.
In this study, 27 pre-service teachers presented virtual mathematics instruction to develop his/her own teaching practice ability. I found several attributes in their virtual mathematics instruction such as connecting contents, asking justification, encouraging students' communication, representing variously, and using ICT etc. These will be the characteristics of the future mathematics class. When peer pre-service teachers assess presenter's instruction quantitatively, there are differences in the results between expert and pre-service teachers. Pre-service teachers didn't find the elements of student self assessment or group assessment and communication activities at the virtual instruction. When they assess peers' virtual instruction qualitatively, the results are specific or new ones compared with the quantitative assessment elements. Thus I suggested some implications for the mathematics pre-service teachers' virtual instruction in the view of teacher education.

Ontology is important role in semantic web to construct and query semantic data. Because of dynamic characteristic of ontology, P2P environment is considered for ontology processing in web environment. For efficient processing of ontology in P2P environment, clustering of peers should be considered. When new peer is added to the network, cluster allocation problem of the new peer is important for system efficiency. For clustering of peers with similar chateristics, similarlity measure method of ontology in added peer with ontologies in other clusters is needed. In this paper, we propose similarity measure techniques of ontologies for clustering of peers. Similarity measure method in this paper considered ontology's strucural characteristics like schema, class, property. Results of experiments show that ontologies of similar topics, class, property can be allocated to the same cluster.
