In this paper, a real-time pitch detector LPC vocoder as implemented on a high speed digital signal processor, NEC 7720, is described. The pitch detector was based mainly on the SIFT algorithm. The SIFT pitch detector consists primarily of a digital low pass filter, inverse filter, computation of autocorrelation, a peak picker, interpolation, V/UV defcision and a final pitch smoother. In our approach, modification, mainly on the V/UV decision and a final pitch smoother, was made to estimate more accurate pitches. An 16-bit fixed-point aithmatic was employed for all necessary computation and the simulated results were compared with the eye detected pitches obtained from real speech data. The pitch detector occupies 98.8% of the instruction ROM, 37% of the data ROM, and 94% of internal RAM and takes 15.2ms to estimate a pitch when an analysis frame is consisted of 128 sampled speech data. It is observed that the tested results were well agreed with the computer simulation results.
Prompt capture gammas are an important part of the fission reactor gamma field. Because some of the structural materials after neutron capture can emit photons with high energies forming the dominant component of the gamma spectrum in the high energy region, the following study of the high energy capture gamma was carried out. High energy gamma radiation may play a major role in areas of the radiation sciences as reactor dosimetry. The HPGe measurements and calculations of the high-energy aluminum capture gamma were performed at two moderator levels in the VR-1 pool-type reactor. The result comparison for nominal levels was within two sigma uncertainties for the major 7.724 MeV peak. A larger discrepancy of 60% was found for the 7.693 MeV peak. The spectra were also measured using a stilbene detector, and a good agreement between HPGe and stilbene was observed. This confirms the validity of stilbene measurements of gamma flux. Additionally, agreement of the wide peak measurement in 7-9.2 MeV by stilbene detector shows the possibility of using the organic scintillators as an independent power monitor. This fact is valid in these reactor types because power is proportional to the thermal neutron flux, which is also proportional to the production of capture gammas forming the wide peak.

In this paper, a full-wave rectifier (FWR) with a simple vibration detector suitable for use with vibrational energy harvesting systems is presented. Conventional active FWRs where active diodes are used to reduce the diode voltage drop and increase the system efficiency are usually powered from the output. Output-powered FWRs exhibit relatively high efficiencies because the comparators used in active diodes are powered from the stable output voltage. Nevertheless, a major drawback is that these FWRs consume power from the output storage capacitor even when the system is not harvesting any energy. To overcome the problem, a technique using a simple vibration detector consisting of a peak detector and a level converter is proposed. The vibration detector detects whether vibrational energy exists or not in the input terminal and disables the comparators when there is no vibrational energy. The proposed FWR with the vibration detector is designed using a $0.35-{\mu}m$ CMOS process. Simulation results have verified the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. By using the proposed vibration detector, a decrease in leakage current by approximately 67,000 times can be achieved after the vibration disappears.

Spherical NaI(Tl) detectors are used in gamma-ray spectrometry, where the gamma emissions come from the nuclei with energies in the range from a few keV up to 10 MeV. A spherical detector is aimed to give a good response to photons, which depends on their direction of travel concerning the detector center. Some distortions in the response of a gamma-ray detector with a different geometry can occur because of the non-uniform position of the source from the detector surface. The present work describes the calibration of a NaI(Tl) spherical detector using both an experimental technique and a numerical simulation method (NSM). The NSM is based on an efficiency transfer method (ETM, calculating the effective solid angle, the total efficiency, and the full-energy peak efficiency). Besides, there is a high probability for a source-to-detector distance less than 15 cm to have pulse coincidence summing (CS), which may occur when two successive photons of different energies from the same source are detected within a very short response time. Therefore, γ-γ ray CS factors are calculated numerically for a 152Eu radioactive cylindrical source. The CS factors obtained are applied to correct the measured efficiency values for the radioactive volumetric source at different energies. The results show a good agreement between the NSM and the experimental values (after correction with the CS factors).
In this paper, a new sag and peak voltage detector is proposed for a single-phase inverter using delta square operation. The conventional sag detector is from a single-phase digital phase-locked loop (DPLL) that is based on d-q transformations using an all-pass filter (APF). The d-q transformation is typically used in the three-phase coordinate system. The APF generates a virtual q-axis voltage component with a 90° phase delay, but this virtual phase cannot reflect a sudden change in the grid voltage at the instant the voltage sag occurs. As a result, the peak value is drastically distorted, and it settles down slowly. A modified APF generates the virtual q-axis voltage component from the difference between the current and the previous values of the d-axis voltage component in the stationary reference frame. However, the modified APF cannot detect the voltage sag and peak value when the sag occurs around the zero crossing points such as 0° and 180°, because the difference voltage is not sufficient to detect the voltage sag. The proposed algorithm detects the sag voltage through all regions including the zero crossing voltage. Moreover, the exact voltage drop can be acquired by calculating the q-axis component that is proportional to the d-axis component. To verify the feasibility of the proposed system, the conventional and proposed methods are compared using simulations and experimental results.
The ${\gamma}$-ray deposition spectra were calculated by Monte Calro method to obtain the scintillation characteristics of the ${\gamma}$-ray for BGO scintillation detector with the spherical shape of 1.25 cm radius. The code used in calculating the ${\gamma}$-ray deposition spectra was made for personal computer with qbasic language. Also the ${\gamma}$-ray energy spectra of $^{22}Na$, $^{137}Cs$ and $^{207}Bi$ were measured with the detector. The energy dependent resolution below 2000 keV for the detector was determined by estimating the standard deviation of the photopeak fitted with gaussian function, and $X^{2}$ fitting using Nardi's empirical formula. The measured spectra of $^{22}Na$ and $^{137}Cs$ were compared with the broadened spectra which were obtained by broadening the calculated ${\gamma}$-ray deposition spectra with the energy dependent resolution. The absolute efficiency and the intrinsic peak efficiency of the detector were obtained by calculating the ${\gamma}$-ray deposition spectrum with the code.
Coincidence summing correction effects are known to be greater as the efficiency of the detector increases and as the distance between the source and the detector increases. A point source($^{60}Co$) was used to vary the distance in the direction of the detector's center axis and in the radial direction to obtain the P/T ratio for Coincidence summing correction calibration. In this study, values for coincidence summing corrected calibration of the values in the central and radial directions were applied to the mixed volume source(450 ml CRM source) to compare the overall peak efficiency change according to P/T with Geant4. In addition, the efficiency obtained from the mapping method is applied to the seaweed, a marine sample, and the compatibility of the P/T ratio with the detector and sample very dose together. The efficiency corrected to 1,836 keV was applied to the energy zone affected by the efficiency of 500 keV and the relative error of the measured and corrected values was well matcched by the 3.2 % peak efficiency correction. As with 450 mL CRM source, the larger the volume, the lower the P/T ratio was by ${\pm}5%$. This is due to the increased scattering of gamma-rays emitted as the source becomes farther away from the detector, and this change in P/T has been confirmed to affect the Coincidence summing corrected peak efficiency.

In this paper, the transceiver for RFID reader using 13.56MHz as a carrier frequency and meeting International Standard ISO 14443 type A, 14443 type B and 15693 is presented. The receiver is composed of envelope detector, VGA(Variable Gain Amplifier), filter, comparator to recovery the received signal. The proposed automatic reference voltage generator, positive peak detector, negative peak detector, and data slicer circuit can adjust the decision level of reference voltage over the received signal amplitudes. The transmitter is designed to drive high voltage and current to meet the 15693 specification. By using inductor loading circuit which can swing more than power supply and drive large current even under low impedance condition, it can control modulation rate from 30 percent to 5 percent, 100 perccnt and drive the output currents from 5 mA to 240 mA depending on standards. The 13.56 MHZ RFID reader is implemented in $0.18\;{\mu}m$ CM08 technology at 3.3V single supply. The chip area excluding pads is $1.5mm\;{\times}\;1.5mm$.

There were many studies on the development of radiation measuring instruments to detect the presence of radiation. In particular, the signal processing method and treatment without loss of the detection signal are very important. The common feature for these studies is the peak-hold method that keeps the peak value of input signal uniform for a short time, readouts its value, discharges electrical value, and then waits for next signal. We propose the new methodology to capture the pulse peak value from the radiation detector and read the value directly other than peak-hold method. This method has merit of accurate reading the input signal pulse peak value without complicate process of holding for a period or initializing of input signal, and then be verified to be adequate through simulation of actual example.

The high bias voltage associated with the thick layer (typically 500-1000 ㎛) of selenium required to have an acceptable x-ray absorption in radiography and fluoroscopy applications may have some practical inconvenience. A hybrid x-ray detector with zinc sulfide-amorphous selenium structure has been developed to improve the x-ray sensitivity of a a-Se based flat-panel digital imaging detector. Photoluminescence(PL) characteristic of a ZnS:Ag phosphor layer showed a light emission peak centered at about 450 nm, which matches the sensitivity spectrum of selenium. The dark current of the hybrid detector showed similar characteristics with that of a a-Se detector. The x-ray sensitivity of hybrid and a-Se x-ray detector was 345 pC/㎠/mR and 295 pC/㎠/mR at an applied voltage of 10 V/㎛, respectively. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the pertinence of a solution using a thin selenium layer, as a photosensitive converter, with a thick coating of silver doped zinc sulfide phosphor.
