백채, 무 및 속간잡종($ aRF_1$)에 대한 발생학적 연구

  • Two individuals of intergeneric hybrids in the crossing of Brassica pekinensis ♀$\times$Raphanus sativus ♂ were obtained, and among the three kinds of plants, Brassica, Raphanus, and F1, comparison on the mega- and microsporogenesis, megagammetophyte formation, and morphological changes in the developing sporangia, etc., were made. Differences between Brassica and Raphanus were observed in the shape of mega- and microsporangia, their changes in development, and the formation of megagametophyte. Sporangia of the F1 plants, until pre-meiotic stage, show intermediate, maternal, paternal, or vigorous inclination, and the difference of these characteristics when compared with those of the parent is slight. Meiotic irregularity resulted from the intergeneric hybridity of F1 plant gives rise to the abnormal mega- and microspore and accompanied abortive female and male gametophytes, bringing about the remarkable differences from its parent in the morphological changes of the developing mega- and microsporangia.

  • The purpose of this article is to introduce a useful methodology of effective goal-setting for the team-level units. As a way to overcome some common symptoms in terms of Strategic Performance Evaluation System such as lack of knowledge on goal-setting, disconnection of process, problem of judging the degree of difficulty about objectives, limits of staff departments evaluation, fairness and authority of evaluators, weakness in coaching technique, and quantity or figure-oriented evaluation, to name a few, and to seek a more plausible goal-setting methodology, the author suggests a persuasive goal-setting concept: VAR(Value-Added Results). VAR, as the end-results, is the team contributions that add value to the organization, and it results from the team's activities. In addition to these goal-setting technique based on the concept of value-added results, several aspects should be improved for Strategic Performance Evaluation System to be implemented more effectively. They are: 1) shift from MBO to MP & D(Managing Performance & Development), 2) impartial exercise of evaluation authority as a organizational public assets, 3) reinforcement of maternal leadership and servantship instead of paternal leadership, 4) utilization of IT-based evaluation system.

A Study of Parental Satisfaction and Child-Rearing Practices (부모역할만족도와 양육태도에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was examine what extent fathers and mothers direr in their parental satisfaction and child-rearing practices, to identify the variables which were related to the parental satisfaction and child-rearing practices, and to investigate the relationships between parental satisfaction and child-rearing practices. The subjects for this study consisted of 245 fathers and 245 mothers of kindergarten children. Descriptive analysis, Cronbach's $\alpha$, t-tests, and correlations were used for data description and analysis. Results were as follows: $\circled{1}$ Paternal child-rearing practices were somewhat differed from maternal child-rearing practices, but parental satisfaction was not differed between fathers and mothers. $\circled{2}$ Factors contributed to patern satisfaction and child-rearing practices were somewhat differed from maternal satisfaction and child-rearing practices. $\circled{3}$ For both fathers and mothers, higher parental satisfaction was positively related to more reasoning guidance, affection, goal-oriented attitude, parental involvement, consistent nile-enforcement, and less authoritarian control.

  • This study was designed to analysis a causal modeling between peer acceptance of children and the related variables. The subjects were 430 5th and 6th elemantary school children. Using questionnares data on peer acceptance aggression & withdrawal behavior rated by same-sex peers and mother-child attachment were gathered,. For the statiscal analyses multiple regression and path-analysis were used. The results show social behavior that effects peer acceptance is influenced by not only aggresive behavior but also withdrawal behavior, Peer acceptance was not affected directly by mother-child attachment and paternal education while academic achievement affected peer acceptance indirectly. Therefore children's peer acceptance is mainly determined by social behavior as well as academic achievement.

Test of the hybrid origin of Broussonetia × kazinoki (Moraceae) in Korea using molecular markers

  • Broussonetia × kazinoki Siebold has long been utilized as a major component in the manufacturing of Korean traditional paper, hanji, and has been suggested as a hybrid species of B. papyrifera and B. monoica. By applying three molecular markers, chloroplast (cp) ndhF-rpl32 IGS, a nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer, and the TOPO6 gene, the hybrid origin of B. × kazinoki is tested. As a result, B. × kazinoki in Korea is demonstrated to be a hybrid of B. monoica × B. papyrifera, most likely formed naturally in Korea. The cp haplotypes detected provided information about the origins and genetic diversity of the maternal lineage B. monoica and paternal lineage B. papyrifera. The two nuclear markers were supplemented to each other, leading to the discovery of introgression in Broussonetia.

Bullying and Victimization with Perception of Parenting Behaviors among Elementary School Children (학령기 아동이 지각한 부모의 양육행동 및 또래 괴롭힘 경험)

  • Data were collected from 514 elementary school students from 1st to 6th grade with questionnaires on Parental Behavior, Bullying, and Peer-Victimization. Sixth graders reported the lowest perception of warmth-acceptance, and 1st graders reported the highest perception of rejection-restriction by fathers. Males perceived more parental rejection-restriction. Children perceived more warmth-acceptance from mothers, and they perceived more permissiveness-nonintervention from fathers. Parenting behaviors were significantly related to bullying and victimization. The Bullying/Victimization group reported the lowest parental warmth-acceptance. Both Victimization and Bullying/Victimization groups showed higher parental rejection-restriction than other groups. The Victimization group showed highest paternal permissiveness-nonintervention. Victimization and Bullying/Victimization groups reported higher maternal permissiveness-nonintervention than other groups.

Comparison of Family Concept between Young and Middle-Aged Adults (청년과 중년의 가족 개념 비교분석)

  • This article explored the perceptions of ‘family’and the factors related to respondents' definitions of a family. The data were collected from two types of people: one was 472 university students and high school students' parents who were asked whether or not each of 22 scenarios represented a‘family’, and the other was 40 young and middle-aged adults who were asked,“what is a family member?”. Results showed that (1) the overwhelming majority of respondents considered a married couple without a child(scenario #5) as a family and the least respondents agreed a divorced couple(scenario #18) as a family, (2) the majority perceived consanguinity, co-residence, parental status, and marital status to be important in the definition of a family, (3) middle-aged adults were more likely than young generation to agree that consanguinity and paternal relations were important in determining what a family member is.

Parental Expectations of Academic Performance and Adolescents' Adjustment Behaviors (부모의 학업기대 유형과 청소년의 적응)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relative importance of parental expectations to adolescents'psychological, behavioral, school-based adjustment, and academic achievement. Subjects of this study consisted of 359 adolescents(177 boys and 182 girls) in Cheong-ju City. There was a statistically meaningful difference in the effect of parental expectations of academic performance on adolescents'adjustment according to sex of adolescents'. Maternal pressure, support form mothers, and paternal pressure were significant factors predicting adolescents'relative psychological adjustment and academic achievement. Support and pressure from mothers were associated with adolescents'behavioral adjustment. The research suggest that maternal pressure was the strongest risk factors in relation to the effects of parental expectations of academic performance on adolescents'adjustment.

Relationships Between Parenting Styles, Adolescent Academic Achievement, and Behavioral Adjustment among Korean Families

  • This study examined the relationships between parenting styles, academic achievement, and behavioral adjustment of adolescents in Korea. Using a sample of 181 parents and their children (13-15 years old), parents completed the Parental Authority Questionnaire and adolescents filled out the Youth Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and provided their school grades. Factor analysis was conducted on the PAQ to confirm the psychometric properties. Hierarchical regression analysis was computed to determine the relationship between maternal and paternal parenting styles, academic performance, and children's internalizing and externalizing behaviors. Regression analysis revealed that mother's authoritative parenting style was positively related with adolescents' grades in English. However, father's permissive was negatively related with adolescents' grades in English, Mathematics, and Science. Mother's permissive parenting styles showed negative effects of internalizing and externalizing behavior problems whereas father's permissive parenting styles showed positive effects of internalizing and externalizing behavior problems.

Pseudohypoparathyroidism: Clinical Review of Diagnosis and Genetic Etiology

  • Pseudohypoparathyroidism (PHP) is very rare and shows heterogeneity with impaired genetic components. PHP is characterized by parathyroid hormone resistance to target organ, related with a GNAS (guanine nucleotide-binding protein α-subunit) mutation and epimutation. PHP receptor is coupled with the stimulatory G protein which activates cyclic adenosine monophosphate formation. PHP type 1A is caused by inactivating mutations on the maternal allele of the GNAS whereas paternal allele mutations cause pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism. PHP type 1B is caused by abnormal patterns of methylation in differentially methylated region which can be divided into partial or complete. This disease has some difficulties to diagnose according to these different molecular alterations caused by complex genetic and epigenetic defects. According to this different molecular alterations, genetic confirmation must be done to discriminate their etiology.
