Purpose: In this study, we developed a service quality audit system through analyzing service processes of airlines' cabin service. Methods: Applying the qualitative approach to service processes analysis; 'service blueprint' methodology was developed, providing airlines a blueprint for cabin service and applying the quantitative service quality audit approach called 'walk-through audit', an audit methodology tailored to airline cabin service called PCPA (Passenger Cabin Patrol Audit) was developed. Results: This study tried to apply both the qualitative and the quantitative methodologies to develop service quality audit checklist and tried to develop details to systemize them into a new methodology. Conclusion: This study will be helpful for Airline services improvement by providing 'service quality audit model', so as to find out the problems and share those with the stakeholders.
The environmental significance of indoor air quality is gaining more attention. Especially, the contamination of indoor air by volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) has become a serious environmental concern. We investigated the VOCs emissions from some interior materials used in the conventional railway passenger cabin. The seat cover and the flooring of cabins were used as testing materials, and they were put in a clean environmental chamber. The temperature and relative humidity was kept at $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ and $50{\pm}5%$, respectively. It was found that these interior materials emitted significant amount of VOCs under constantly ventilated condition. The flooring emitted more halogenated VOCs than the seat cover, because it is made of PVC, which contains many chlorine atoms. However, the emission gradually decreased over time. Because the VOCs emission from interior materials may threaten the health of passengers in the cabin, interior materials emitting less VOCs should be used.

This paper investigates the radiating source of electro-magnetic waves in the cabin of automobile with spark ignition engine. Front seats are very close to the engine room where electro-magnetic waves are expected to be radiating. But front seat area is believed to be a blind zone, which is not affected by radiating electro-magnetic waves, because a bulk board and floor board shield the front seat area. The level and frequency spectrum of electro-magnetic waves are measured at the passenger seat and the engine room. The measured frequency range is $145{\sim}365MHz$. As a results, the level of the electro-magnetic waves of automatic transmission vehicle is greater than -82dBm. The shapes of frequency spectrum of both engine room and passenger seat are look alike. But the level of electro-magnetic waves of manual transmission vehicle is less than -82dBm and the shapes of frequency spectrum of engine room and passenger seat are different to each other. From these results, we can say that any mal-function caused by electro-magnetic waves in the automobile cabin are only possible for automatic transmission vehicle. Also, it is believed that the radiating source of electro-magnetic waves is inside the vehicle. Thus, based on the transmission line theory, this paper presumably concludes that the cables which connect all the components inside a automatic transmission vehicle must be a radiating source of electro-magnetic waves in the cabin.

Pressure drop and fractional collection efficiency of automotive cabin air filters were examined to obtain the basic data for the development of high performance domestic cabin air filters. Pressure drop of MA-V100 was higher than that of VF-V100, and it increased with the air flow rate. VF-V100 had longer time to rise the critical pressure drop than that MA-V100 had. Total collection efficiency of MA-V100 for initial and dust loaded conditions was higher than that of VF-V100. Also, fractional collection efficiency of MA-V100 for the fine particles was higher than that of VF-V100. Particla size distribution for the minimum collection efficiency ranged from 0.02 $\mu$m to 0.04 $\mu$m for MA-V100 and it ranged from 0.02 $\mu$m to 0.15 $\mu$m for VF-V100.
Recently, it becomes to be very important to reduce the cabin noise of passenger ship, according to the trend of speedy and luxury ship. The noise reduction and control techniques should be considered as important factors from the viewpoint of the sound problem of cabin. Therefore, ship designer has to improve the sound quality as well as to redece the sound pressure level in cabins. In this paper, for the new approach of these problems, we tried to find the trends of noise and sound quality of high-speed coastal passenger ships. Loudness, roughness, fluctuation strength, and sharpness are selected as the parameters for the evaluation of sound quality. The parameters are calculated by using the sound measured in cabin while the ship is running. Furthermore we tried to find the trend of each parameter in cabins and compare with that of sound pressure level. As results, we find that the loudness is linearly proportional to sound pressure level. But, the other parameters show different trends which may be caused by ship motion on the wave and fluctuation of propelling power.
In recent 3 years, Korea's low-cost airlines have expanded their areas of passenger transportation not only to domestic market but also to Japan, China, Southeast Asia and US territory as a total of 6 companies (8 airlines including small air operation business carriers). Currently, three more airlines have filed for air transportation business certification as future low-cost carriers, and this expansion is expected to continue. To cope with the aggressive airline operations of domestic and foreign low-cost carriers and to enhance their competitiveness, each low-cost airline is taking a number of strategies for promoting cabin service. Therefore, the workload of the cabin crew is increased in proportion to the expansion, and the fatigue directly connected with the safety task performance is increased. It is stipulated in the Enforcement Regulations of the Korea Aviation Safety Act that at minimum, one cabin crew is required per 50 passenger seating capacity, and all low cost carriers are boarding only the minimum cabin crew. Sometimes it is impossible for them to sit in a floor level emergency exit for evacuation, which is the main task of the cabin crew, and this can cause confusion among evacuating passengers in the event of an emergency. In addition, if one of the minimum cabin crew becomes incapacitated due to an injury or the like, it will become a serious impediment in performing emergency evacuation duties. Even in the normal situation, since it will be violating the Act prescription on the minimum cabin crew complement, passengers will have to move to another available airline flights, encountering extreme inconvenience. Annex 6 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation specifies international standards for the determination of the minimum number of cabin crew shall be based only on the number of passenger seats or passengers on board for safe and expeditious emergency evacuation. Thereby in order to enhance the safety of the passengers and the crew on board, it is necessary to consider the cabin crew's fatigue that may occur in the various job characteristics (service, safety, security, first aid)and floor level emergency exit seating in calculating the minimum number of cabin crew. And it is also deemed necessary for the government's regulatory body to enhance the cabin safety for passengers and crew when determining the number of minimum cabin crew by reflecting the cabin crew's workload leading to their fatigue and unavailability to be seated in a floor level emergency exit on low cost carriers.

The purpose of this study is to measure the thermal conditions of the various cabins in a long cruise passenger ship which is an integration of the high level technological know-how. We did an experiment and found out the following problems. (1) The temperature from the damper is stable but the humidity varies lower. (2) Comparing A deck-located cabins to B deck-located cabins, A-deck located cabins' temperatures are higher because of the 24% more air supply. (3) More influences from outdoor climate makes the temperature of the outside cabin lower than the inside cabin. (4) In some cabins, there are vertical temperature differences of $4{\sim}6^{\circ}C$. (5) And $2{\sim}4^{\circ}C$ temperature differences are occurred at between 2-story bed. (6) Repeatability of measurement results are confirmed by 2 times measurements.

Habitability is one of the most important points when a passenger ship is cruising. In particular, anti-vibration design should be considered preferentially to offer passenger a comfort cabin and leisure space. But, a passenger ship is different from a general commercial ship in the view point of the structural arrangement. It is restricted within narrow limits to reinforce wide panels and local structures of a passenger ship because of its interior design. Moreover, the allowable vibratory limits for a passenger ship are much lower than those of a commercial ship. In this study are introduced the procedure of the vibration analysis, the structural improvement method for prevention of vibration and the results of vibration measurement during exciter test and sea trials.

Sound transmission from the luggage comparment into the car cabin is important in the viewpoint if exhaust and road noises of passenger cars. In this paper, acoustic modal coupling between passenger and luggage compartments through loudspeaker holes at parcel shelf is dealt with for a sedan type passenger car with rigid rear seat. For these purposes, a half-scaled model car is tested and computed by the indirect BEM. Predicted acoustic transfer functions are compared with experimental ones and they agree reasonably well. It is found that the fore-aft resonance frequencies of the passenger cavity in the absence of coupling holes are tend to shift to higher frequencies when the luggage compartment is coupled to the passenger cavity.
