표면 코팅 입자에 의한 석탄화력 발전용 보일러 파울링 수치적 연구 (Computational Study of Fouling Deposits Due to Surface-Coated Particles in Coal-Fired Power Utility Boilers)

  • Fouling deposits due to surface-coated particles have been calculated using CFD techniques. The sticking probabilities of the surface-coated particles are also evaluated on the basis of an energy balance. The sticking probabilities of the deposit surface are also included in the prediction of the deposition occurring through the multiple impaction of particles with the deposit surface. The sticking probability of an impacting particle is expressed in terms of such parameters as particle viscosity, surface tension, impact velocity, impact angle and the thickness of the sticky layer on a particle. Particulate behavior around a tube in cross flow was studied using the Lagrangian approach. Three important parameters i.e. impact velocity, impact angle, and particulate concentration, were used in the prediction of deposition rate. The computational predictions were found to be in good agreement with the experimental data.

  • Performance of electrostatic diesel PM filtration systems (E-DPS) with different types has been tested using the carbon particles generated by spark discharge in laboratory. Among the five electrostatic precipitators, the multiple wires cylindrical E-DPS with the highest collection efficiency and relatively lower differential pressure at the flow rate of $1\;m^3$/min, as an applicable device to diesel engine as an after treatment system, has been combined with another collection cylinder to improve the collection efficiency of diesel particulate matters generated from diesel engines. The multiple wires cylindrical E-DPS combined with the cylindrical collector showed the collection efficiency of more than 60% at the engine speed of 2,000 rpm with the engine loads of 25 and 50%.

  • Particulate matter (PM) is one of the major indoor air pollutants especially in the subway station in Korea. In order to remove PM in the subway station, several kinds of PM removal system such as roll-filter, auto-washable air filter, demister, and electrostatic precipitator re used in the air handling unit (AHU) of subway station. However, those systems are faced to operation and maintenance problems since the filter-regeneration unit consisting of electrical or water jet parts is malfunctioned due to the high load of particulates and the filter material needs periodic replacement. In this study, we surveyed the particle removal systems in order to develop the new system of particle removing can be adopted in the current AHU of subway station.

오픈 소스 전산 유체 역학 해석 프로그램을 이용한 전기집진기 내부 정전 유동 해석 (Numerical Analysis of Electro-Hydrodynamic (EHD) Flows in Electrostatic Precipitators using Open Source Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Solver)

  • The electrostatic precipitator (ESP) has been used for degrading atmospheric pollutants. These devices induce the electrical forces to facilitate the removal of particulate pollutants. The ions travel from the high voltage electrode to the grounded electrode by Coulomb force induced by the electric field when a high voltage is applied between two electrodes. The ions collide with gas molecules and exchange momentum with each other thus inducing fluid motion, electrohydrodynamic (EHD) flow. In this study, for the simulation of electric field and EHD flow in ESPs, an open source EHD solver, "espFoam", has been developed using open source CFD toolbox, OpenFOAM(R) (Open Field Operation and Manipulation). The electric potential distribution and ionic space charge density distribution were obtained with the developed solver, and validated with experimental results in the literature. The comparison results showed good agreement. Turbulence model is also incorporated to simulate turbulent flow; hence the developed solver can analyze laminar and turbulent flow. In distributions of electric potential and space charge, the distributions become distorted and asymmetric as the flow velocity increases. The effect of electrical drift flow was investigated for different flow velocities and the secondary flow in a flow of low velocity is successfully predicted.

분할형 전기히터 가열이 디젤 차량 배기가스저감장치 필터 내의 온도 분포에 미치는 영향에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Effect of a Partitioned Electric Heating on Temperature Distribution in a Diesel Particulate Filter)

  • 디젤엔진 배기가스 저감 장치의 세라믹 필터 재생 특성을 파악하는데 있어서 중요한 인자인 세라믹 필터 내의 온도 분포를 30군데에서 측정하였다. 세라믹 필터 내의 온도 분포에 적합하도록 제작한 K-형 열전대를 사용하여 측정하였다. 5개로 구성된 분할형 전기히터를 장착하고 중심부 전기히터부터 차례로 돌아가면서 ON/OFF 제어를 하면서 세라믹 필터 내의 온도를 측정하였다. 또한 공기 공급 유량을 변화 시키면서 분할형 전기히터의 ON/OFF 제어가 세라믹 필터 내의 온도 분포 특성에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 세라믹 필터 내의 온도가 균일한 분포를 가지려면 배기가스저감 장치 입구에서의 유속 분포가 균일한 경우가 유리하였다. 분할형 히터간의 가열 능력 편차에 의해 세라믹 필터 내의 온도 분포도 큰 영향을 받았다.

  • 본 논문에서는 유해배출물질 저감장치인 DPF의 문제를 해소하기 위하여 제안된 것으로서, 양방향으로 분기되는 배기가스 유로를 통하여 자동차의 엔진 구동시 발생되는 배기가스를 효율적으로 유도하고 2개의 DPF 장치를 장착함으로서 교번작용을 통한 유해배출물질 정화 및 재생연소특성을 효율적으로 적용할 수 있도록 개발한다. DPF 내부에 입자상물질 적층현상으로 인한 배기가스의 내부압력 증가를 피할 수 있고, 출력저하 및 연비효율이 떨어지는 등의 문제를 획기적으로 개선하여 고효율의 출력을 유도할 수 있는 자동차 배기가스 정화 시스템을 제공하려는데 그 목적이 있다.

연속살균장치에서의 소고기 정육면체의 열전달특성 측정 (Dynamic thermal properties of particulate foods in a continous flow cooking system)

  • 연속살균장치는 $130^{\circ}C$에서 $140^{\circ}C$의 초고온에서 연속적으로 식품을 열처리 하는 공정으로 재래 배치식 공정에 비하여 순간적인 짧은 시간이 소요되는 경제적인 공정이나, 액상과 고상으로 구성된 저산도 식품은 고상입자의 대류열전달 계수와 장치내 체류시간이 정확히 구명되지 않아서 연속살균기술이 성공적으로 적용되지 못하고 있다. 본 연구에서 연속살균장치에서의 액상식품과 고상식품사이의 대류열전달 계수를 예측하기 위하여 연속살균장치의 Hold tube에서 정육면체 모델 식품내부의 온도를 측정할 수 있는 장치를 개발하였다. 연속살균장치의 홀드튜브에서 정육면체 모델 식품의 온도변화를 예측할 수 있는 유한차분법을 이용한 시뮬레이션 모델을 개발하고 소고기를 대상으로 이 시뮬레이션 모델의 입력변수인 비열, 열전도도를 실험적으로 측정하여 사용하였다. 0.0에서 15.0 centipoise의 점도를 가지는 모델 액상식품의 15.6에서 45.2liter/min 의 유속에 대하여 액상과 소고기 정육면체의 대류열전달계수는 792에서 2107W/$m^2$K으로 예측되었다.

가스와 입자가 혼합된 2상 유동에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Simulation of Two-Phase Flow for Gas-Solid Particles)

  • The phenomena of two-phase suspension flows appear widely in nature and industrial processes. Hence, it is of great importance to understand the mechanism of the gas-solid two-phase flows. In the present study, the numerical simulation has been approached by utilizing the Eulerian-Lagrangian methodology for describing the characteristics of the fluid and particulate phases in a vertical pipe and a 90°square-sectioned bend. The continuous phase(gas phase) is described by the Eulerian formulation and a κ-ε turbulence model is employed to find mean and turbulent properties of the gas phase. The particle properties(velocity and trajectory) are then described by a Lagrangian approach and computed using the mean velocity and turbulent fluctuating velocity of the gas phase. The predictions are compared with measurements by laser-Doppler velocimeter for the validation. As a result, the calculated results show good agreements.

  • The TIER-LII system was established and evaluated using carbon black for diesel particulate size measurement. It contains a new designed sensor head which makes it easier to be measured. Through LII signal analysis of some parameters, we can understand that there were few correlations observed in effect of temperature, shield gas flow rate, and mixture flow rate.. However, an amount of difference was observed in different size of particulates.

PFC법에 있어서의 Al-Cu 다결정리본의 응고특성 (Solidification Characteristics of Al-Cu Polycrystalline Ribbons in Planar Flow Casting)

  • Polycrystalline Al-Cu ribbons were produced by planar flow casting(PFC). Solidification behavior and microstructual changes of the ribbons have been investigated as a function of ribbon thickness and processing parameters. The solidification front velocity, V varies within the ribbon, decreasing with increasing the distance, S from the wheel-contact surface, as $V=17.6S^{-1}$. In Al-4.5wt%Cu alloy, rapid decrease in solidification velocity toward the free surface causes a change in solidification morphology from planar to cellular, and finally, to dendritic. The length and inclination of columnar grains solidified with planar front were related to the wheel velocity. The transition from particulate degenerate eutectic structure to regular lamellar eutectic structure was observed to be caused by a difference of the relative growth velocites of ${\alpha}-Al$ and ${\theta}$ during solidification in the Al-Cu eutectic alloy.
