졸-겔법으로 제작된 저온 TiO2 박막의 촉매농도에 따른 광분해 특성 분석 (Properties of Low-Temperature Sol-Gel TiO2 Thin Films with Catalyst Content)

  • 졸-겔법으로 촉매농도에 따라 저온 $TiO_2$ 졸을 제조한 후, 침지코팅법을 이용하여 $TiO_2$ 박막을 제작하였다. 제작된 저온 $TiO_2$ 박막의 광학적, 구조적, 광활성 특성을 조사하였다. 0.10 mol, 0.25 mol, 0.50 mol과 0.75 mol의 촉매농도로 제작된 저온 $TiO_2$ 박막은 가시광 영역에서 높은 투과율 특성을 나타내었다. XRD 스펙트럼 결과에 의하면 촉매농도가 증가함에 따라 아나타제 결정구조에서 루타일 결정구조로의 상전이가 촉진되고 결정크기는 촉매농도가 증가함에 따라 아나타제 결정크기가 감소하였다. SEM 결과로부터 $TiO_2$ 박막의 표면입자크기가 0.25 mol의 측매농도에서 가장 작았다. 아나타제 결정구조를 가지는 0.10 mol, 0.25 mol과 0.50 mol의 $TiO_2$ 박막 존재 하에서 메틸렌블루가 완전히 광분해 되는 것을 확인하였다.

  • $Fe_3O_4$ 나노입자는 hot-injection 제조법에 의해 제조되었으며 반응물질의 injection time에 변화를 주었다. 격자구조는 x-ray diffraction(XRD) 측정을 통해 Fd-3m 공간군을 갖는 cubic inverse spinel 구조로 분석되었으며, $Fe_3O_4$ 나노입자의 형상은 high-resolution transmission electron microscope(HR-TEM)으로 분석하였다. 반응물질을 각각 0.5분, 60분인 젝션시 각각 7.63 nm, 21.73 nm의 $Fe_3O_4$ 나노입자 사이즈를 얻을 수 있었다. $Fe_3O_4$ 나노입자의 자기적 특성은 다양한 온도에서 vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM)과 M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectroscopy로 측정하였으며, hyperthermia 측정을 통해 반응물질의 injection time이 60분일 때 50 kHz의 250 Oe에서 $Fe_3O_4$ 나노입자 파우더의 온도가 약 $120^{\circ}C$임을 관측할 수 있었다.

Nickel Substitution Effects on Nano-sized Co, Mn and MnZn Ferrites Synthesized by Sol-gel Method

  • Nickel substituted nano-sized ferrite powders, $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$, $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-2x}Zn_xNi_xFe_2O_4$ ($0.0{\leq}x{\leq}0.2$), were fabricated using a sol-gel method, and their crystallographic and magnetic properties were subsequently compared. The lattice constants decreased as quantity of nickel substitution increased, while the particle size decreased in $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ ferrite but increased for the $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-2x}Zn_xNi_xFe_2O_4$ ferrites. For the $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ ($0.0{\leq}x{\leq}0.2$) ferrite powders, the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra could be fitted as the superposition of two Zeeman sextets due to the tetrahedral and octahedral sites of the $Fe^{3+}$ ions. However, the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectrum of $Mn_{0.8}Zn_{0.1}Ni_{0.1}Fe_2O_4$ consisted of two Zeeman sextets and one single quadrupole doublet due to the ferrimagnetic and paramagnetic behavior. The area ratio of the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra could be used to determine the cation distribution equation, and we also explain the variation in the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ parameters by using this cation distribution equation, the superexchange interaction and the particle size. The saturation magnetization decreased in the $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-2x}Zn_xNi_xFe_2O_4$ ferrites but increased in the $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ ferrite with nickel substitution. The coercivity decreased in the $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-2x}Zn_xNi_xFe_2O_4$ ferrites but increased in the $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ ferrite with nickel substitution. These variations could thus be explained by using the site distribution equations, particle sizes and spin magnetic moments of the substituted ions.

Laser Acceleration of Electron Beams to the GeV-class Energies in Gas Jets

  • In a laser-plasma wakefield accelerator, the ponderomotive force of an ultrashort high intensity laser pulse excites a longitudinal wave or plasma bubble in a way similar to the excitation of a wake wave behind a boat as it propagates on the water surface. Electric fields inside the plasma bubble can be several orders of magnitude higher than those available in conventional RF-based particle accelerator facilities which are limited by material breakdown. Therefore, if an electron bunch is properly phase-locked with the bubble's acceleration field, it can gain relativistic energies within an extremely short distance. Here, in the bubble regime we show the generation of stable and reproducible sub GeV, and GeV-class electron beams. Supported by three-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations, our experimental results show the highest acceleration gradients produced so far. Simulations suggested that the plasma bubble elongation should be minimized in order to achieve higher electron beam energies.

고분자 도포를 이용한 실리콘-탄소의 합성 및 Si-C|Li Cell의 전기화학적 특성 (Synthesis of Silicon-Carbon by Polymer Coating and Electrochemical Properties of Si-C|Li Cell)

  • 실리콘 분말에 polyaniline(PAn)을 중합하고 탄화하여 Si-C재료를 개발하고 물리적 특성 및 전기화학적 특성을 분석하였다. 평균입도는 PAn의 중합으로 증가하였으며 탄화로 일부 감소하였다. XRD분석으로 결정질의 실리콘과 비결정성의 탄소 재료가 공존함을 확인 하였다. Si-PAn 전구체로 부터 개발한 Si-C 재료를 이용한 Si-C|Li cell은 Si|Li cell에 비하여 우수한 특성을 나타내었으며, 탄소 전구체인 PAn의 HCl 탈도핑에 의해 전기화학적 특성을 개선할 수 있었다. 전해액 중 FEC 첨가한 경우 초기 방전 용량이 증가하였다. GISOC시험으로 구한 가역 비용량 범위는 Si-C(Si:PAn=50:50wt. ratio)|Li 전지의 경우 약 414mAh/g를 나타내었으며, 가역 범위에 대한 초기 충방전의 intercalation 효율(IIE)는 75.7%였으며, 표면 비가역 비용량은 35.4mAh/g을 나타내었다.

A Substorm Injection Event and the Radiation Belt Structure Observed by Space Radiation Detectors onboard Next Generation Small Satellite-1 (NEXTSat-1)

  • In this paper, we present observations of the Space Radiation Detectors (SRDs) onboard the Next Generation Small Satellite-1 (NEXTSat-1) satellite. The SRDs, which are a part of the Instruments for the study of Stable/Storm-time Space (ISSS), consist of the Medium-Energy Particle Detector (MEPD) and the High-Energy Particle Detector (HEPD). The MEPD can detect electrons, ions, and neutrals with energies ranging from 20 to 400 keV, and the HEPD can detect electrons over an energy range from 0.35 to 2 MeV. In this paper, we report an event where particle flux enhancements due to substorm injections are clearly identified in the MEPD A observations at energies of tens of keV. Additionally, we report a specific example observation of the electron distributions over a wide energy range in which we identify electron spatial distributions with energies of tens to hundreds of keV from the MEPD and with energy ranging up to a few MeV from the HEPD in the slot region and outer radiation belts. In addition, for an ~1.5-year period, we confirm that the HEPD successfully observed the well-known outer radiation belt electron flux distributions and their variations in time and L shell in a way consistent with the geomagnetic disturbance levels. Last, we find that the inner edge of the outer radiation belt is mostly coincident with the plasmapause locations in L, somewhat more consistent at subrelativistic energies than at relativistic energies. Based on these example events, we conclude that the SRD observations are of reliable quality, so they are useful for understanding the dynamics of the inner magnetosphere, including substorms and radiation belt variations.

새만금 배수갑문 운영에 따른 염분 변화와 저층수의 입자교환 모의 (Salinity Changes and Bottom Water Particle Exchange Simulations in Response to Sluice Gate Operations at Saemangeum Lake)

  • 새만금 호의 수질 개선을 위하여 국가에서 해수 유통을 증가시킴에 따라 해수 유통 빈도 증가로 인한 새만금 호 내 염분과 저층수 교환 변화를 알아보기 위하여, EFDC(Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code) 모델을 이용하였다. 갑문 개폐 횟수를 하루 1회에서 2회로 증가했을 때, 새만금 호 내부 수위는 최대 약 0.7 m 상승하였다. 염분은 서측 방조제 근방에서 2.12 psu 증가하였으며, 담수 유입 부근에서는 1.18 psu 감소하였다. 입자추적을 이용하여 저층수 교환 정도 분석한 결과, 수심 5m 이하 입자 잔류율은 Case 2(1일 2회 개방)에서 Case 1(1일 1회 개방)에 비해 2.52% 감소한 것으로 나타났다. 이는 수문 개폐 횟수를 증가시켰을 때, 저층수 교환이 더 활발해 질 수 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 따라서 해수 유통 증가에 따른 염분 및 저층수 교환 증가로 새만금 호의 수질 개선이 될 수 있다고 판단된다.

Theoretical prediction on thickness distribution of cement paste among neighboring aggregates in concrete

  • By virtue of chord-length density function from the field of statistical physics, this paper introduced a quantitative approach to estimate the distribution of cement paste thickness between aggregates in concrete. Dynamics mixing method based on molecular dynamics was employed to generate one model structure, then image analysis algorithm was used to obtain the distribution of thickness of cement paste in model structure for the purpose of verification. By comparison of probability density curves and cumulative probability curves of the cement paste thickness among neighboring aggregates, it is found that the theoretical results are consistent with the simulation. Furthermore, for the model mortar and concrete mixtures with practical volume fraction of Fuller-type aggregate, this analytical formula was employed to predict the influence of aggregate volume fraction and aggregate fineness. And evolution of its mean values were also investigated with the variation of volume fraction of aggregate as well as the fineness of aggregates in model mortars and concretes.

A SIMPLIFIED TREATMENT OF GRAVITATIONAL INTERACTION ON GALACTIC SCALES

  • I present a simple scheme for the treatment of gravitational interactions on galactic scales. In anal- ogy with known mechanisms of quantum field theory, I assume ad hoc that gravitation is mediated by virtual exchange particles-gravitons-with very small but non-zero masses. The resulting den- sity and mass profiles are proportional to the mass of the gravitating body. The mass profile scales with the centripetal acceleration experienced by a test particle orbiting the central mass, but this comes at the cost of postulating a universal characteristic acceleration $a_0{\approx}4.3{\times}10^{-12}msec^{-2}$ (or $8{\pi}a_0{\approx}1.1{\times}10^{-10}msec^{-2}$). The scheme predicts the asymptotic flattening of galactic rotation curves, the Tully-Fisher/Faber-Jackson relations, the mass discrepancy-acceleration relation of galaxies, the surface brightness-acceleration relation of galaxies, the kinematics of galaxy clusters, and "Renzo's rule" correctly; additional (dark) mass components are not required. Given that it is based on various ad-hoc assumptions and given further limitations, the scheme I present is not yet a consistent theory of gravitation; rather, it is a "toy model" providing a convenient scaling law that simplifies the description of gravity on galactic scales.

INVESTIGATION OF PAHs IN GALACTIC PLANETARY NEBULAE WITH THE AKARI/IRC AND THE SPITZER/IRS

  • Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Galactic planetary nebulae (PNe) are investigated by means of the unidentified infrared (UIR) bands. Continuous near- to mid-infrared spectra of PNe are obtained with the AKARI/IRC and the Spitzer/IRS. All 19 PNe in the present study show prominent dust emissions and we investigate the variation in the intensity ratios among the UIR bands. The ionization fraction and the size distribution of PAHs in PNe are derived using the UIR band ratios. We find that the ionization fraction of PAHs in PNe is around 0.0-0.6 and that small PAHs are scarce. The present result indicates a systematic trend of the $3.4{\mu}m$ aliphatic feature to become weak as the PAH ionization fraction increases.
