Sn was selected as an alloying element of Cu. The Cu-Sn thin layers were deposited on the Si substrates by the electroplating method and their properties were studied. By rapidly thermal annealing(RTA) up to 40$0^{\circ}C$ after electroplating, sheet resistance decreased and adhesion strength increased, but that trend was reversed at the 50$0^{\circ}C$ RTA. Cu-Sn particles grew dense and the surface was uniform up to 40$0^{\circ}C$, but at 50$0^{\circ}C$, empty area was introduced and the surface became rough owing to oxidation and particle coarsening and agglomeration. Deposited layer contained significant amount of Si, while pure Cu-Sn layer with the composition ratio of 90:10 was present only on the top surface. However, no significant change in the Cu composition within alloy layers occured by the RTA regardless of its temperature. This indicates that the Cu diffusion into the Si was suppressed by the presence of Sn.
An experiment was conducted to determine the reaction of boric acid with lime and the drying of its product using a reactor-dryer. no characteristics of dried products were observed. The major chemical species of dried Products was calcium borate of 2CaO.B$_2$O$_3$. From the particle size distribution of the dried products, it was found that quick lime was better than slaked lime as an additive. The Ca/B mole ratio of reaction was determined to be 3/4 considering the cohesion and agglomeration properties of dried products. The flowability of dried products up to 8 wt% of water content was acceptable for transport process and to reduce drying time.
In this work, we have prepared platinum catalyst by various methods, investigated fuel cell performance and compared performance with commercially available $20\%$ Pt supported on carbon (Pt/C) catalyst. We have found that Pt/C prepared by reduction of chloroplatinic acid in mixed solvent (water+ethylene glycol) gives better performance compared to that produced by reduction of aqueous chloroplatinic acid, which can be attributed to smaller catalyst particle size and lower agglomeration in the mixed solvent. We have also prepared a novel platinum electrocatalyst by depositing platinum on Nafion coated carbon powder and it shows great promise. The performance of electrode prepared using $20\%Pt$ onn Nafion coated carbon mixed with Pt/C was found to be higher than the performance of electrodes using commercially available $20\%$ Pt/C, up to a current density of about $1100mA/cm^2$. The cell voltages obtained were respectively 621 and 603mV, at a current density of: $1000mA/cm^2$, in a single cell using $0.25mgPt/cm^2$ and Nafion 10035 membrane at $80^{\circ}C$ using hydrogen/oxygen reactants at 1 atm pressure.

The effects of pH of solution on structural, electrical, and optical properties of CdS thin films prepared by solution growth method were investigated. With increasing pH of the solution, both crystallinity and transmittance of CdS thin film were deteriorated due to impurities and CdS particles, which were produced by homogeneous nucleation and adsorbed on the surface of CdS thin films. The films were strongly adherent to substrates and has low resistivity of 10~$10^2{\omega}cm$ regrardless of deposition conditions. After annealing at 30$0^{\circ}C$ in Ar atmosphere, the resistivity decreased due to desorption of impurity ions as well as the formation of S vacancies, but after annealing above 35$0^{\circ}C$ it increased by an agglomeration of S vacancies. After annealing in air atmosphere, the film resistivity increased because of the formation of oxide particle in grain boundaries.
Monodispersed 3Y-$ZrO_2$ spherical agglomerates were synthesized by thermal hydrolysis process followed by crystallization processes (hydrothermal treatment and calcination). The crystallization process affected the properties of the final particles, such as the primary particle size, the agglomeration state, and the fraction of $ZrO_2$ monoclinic phase. The hydrothermal treated spherical particles were porous microstructures (weak agglomerates) composed of small primary particles with a size of 14 nm, but the calcined spherical particles had a dense microstructure due to the hard aggregation between primary particles. While the calcined particles had a low green density due to the hard aggregation, hydrothermal treated ones were soft agglomerates and had a deflection point at 50 MPa due to the rearrangement of secondary spherical particles and the filling of the interstices with the primary particles. Finally, the green density of hydrothermally treated $ZrO_2$ particles was 58% at 200 MPa.

In this paper, in order to develop low temperature sintering ceramics for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application, PMN-PZN-PZT ceramics were fabricated using $LiCO_3,\;Bi_2O_3$ and CuO as sintering aids. And also, their piezoelectric and dielectric properties were investigated according to the milling time. All the specimens sintered at $930\;^{\circ}C$ showed tetragonal phases without secondary phases. With increasing milling time, piezoelectric and dielectric characteristic of specimens increased up to 60 hours milling time and then decreased due to the agglomeration of fine particle. Accordingly, it seems that 60 hour is optimum milling condition. At the sintering temperature of $930\;^{\circ}C$ and milling time of 60 hour, density, dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}_r$), electromechanical coupling factor (kp), mechanical quality factor (Qm), piezoelectric d constant showed the optimum value of $7.95\;g/m^3$, 1382, 0.546, 1749, 330 pC/N, respectively for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application.

Plasmonic effects of gold and platinum alloy nanoparticles (Au-Pt NPs) and their comparison to size was studied. Various factors including ratios of gold and platinum salt, temperature, pH and time of addition of reducing agent were studied for their effect on particle size. The size of gold and platinum alloy nanoparticles increases with increasing concentration of Pt NPs. Temperature dependent synthesis of gold and platinum alloy nanoparticles shows decrease in size at higher temperature while at lower temperature agglomeration occurs. For pH dependent synthesis of Au-Pt nanoparticles, size was found to be increased by increase in pH from 4 to 10. Increasing the time of addition of reducing agent for synthesis of pure and gold-platinum alloy nanoparticles shows gradual increase in size as well as increase in heterogeneity of nanoparticles. The size and elemental analysis of Au-Pt nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, XRD, SEM and EDX techniques.
Our purpose in this study is to analyze the microstructural characteristics and constituent elements of inorganic substances added to the yellow ink and red ink pigments used in permanent makeup. We observed the microstructural properties of inorganic pigments added to the ink using a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and analyzed the constituent elements of the inorganic pigment particles using an energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). In red wine-colored ink, cubic titanium dioxide with a diameter of 110 to 200 nm was the major component, and rod-shaped iron oxide was rarely observed. Most of the ingredients of taupe yellow ink were rod-shaped yellow iron oxide, and a small amount of cubic titanium dioxide was observed. Red wine-colored ink and taupe yellow ink contained lumps composed of titanium dioxide particles. In red wine-colored ink, lumps were formed by agglomeration. However, we observed that the surface of the lump composed of titanium dioxide in the taupe yellow ink had a smooth surface caused by external physical compression. The titanium dioxide particle mass which found in taupe yellow ink in this study is an artificial product. When this mass accumulates in the dermis, it may cause a color mismatch. Therefore, permanent makeup using fine pigments should be free of foreign substances that may cause trouble in the skin. In addition, there is a need to improve the quality of the ink so that the required color can be safe and long lasting in the dermis.
Bio-CaCO3 is a blowout environment-friendly materials for soil improvement and sealing of rock fissures. To evaluate the chemical characteristics, shape, size and productivity of soybean urease induced CaCO3 precipitates (SUICP), experimental studies were conducted via EDS, XRD, FT-IR, TGA, BET, and SEM. Also, the conversion rate of SUICP reaction at different time were determined and analyzed. The Bio-CaCO3 product obtained by SUICP is comprehensively judged as calcite based on the results of EDS, XRD and FT-IR. The SUICP calcite precipitates are detected as spherical or ellipsoidal particles 3-6 ㎛ in diameter with nanoscale pores on their surface, and this morphology is novel. The median secondary particle size d50 is 39-88 ㎛, indicating the agglomeration of the primary calcite particles. The Bio-calcite decomposes at 650-780℃, representing a medium thermal stability. The conversion rate of SUICP reaction can reach 80% in 24h, which is much more efficient than microbially induced CaCO3 precipitation. These results reveal the knowledges of SUICP, and further direct its engineering applications. Moreover, we show an economic channel to obtain porous spherical calcite.

For the production of a high-density ITO target, $In_2O_3$ powders with a small particle size and low agglomeration should be synthesized. The purpose of this study is to control the size and shape of the Indium hydroxide precursor which affects the properties of the $In_2O_3$ powder. As a starting raw material, Indium metal was dissolved in a Nitric acid ($HNO_3$) solution. The effect of concentration, pH, and temperature on the properties of Indium hydroxide was investigated using ammonium hydroxide as a precipitant. Crystallite size of each sample was analyzed by X-ray diffraction and the shape and the size of the powder was analyzed by transmission electron microscopy. As a result, the particle size of Indium hydroxide was increased with increase in the concentration of $In(NO_3)_3$ and the particle size and shape of the Indium hydroxide remained unchanged with increase in the pH of the solution. The particle size increased with increase in the precipitation temperature during precipitation.
