부의 양육참여가 모의 온정적 양육에 미치는 영향에서 모가 지각한 부부갈등 및 결혼만족도의 매개효과: 모의 우울과 자아존중감 조절효과를 중심으로 (Mother's Marital Conflict and Satisfaction Mediate the Relationship Between Father's Child-Rearing Involvement and the Mother's Warmth of Parenting Style: The Moderating Role of Mother's Depression and Self-Esteem)

  • Objective: This study was aimed to examine the mediating effects of mother's marital conflict and satisfaction between father's child-rearing involvement and mother's warmth of parenting style, and the moderating effect of mother's depression and self-esteem. Methods: The analyses involved using cross-sectional weights from the 1,703 samples of the 5th Panel Study on Korean Children to classify them into high and low depression groups, and high and low self-esteem groups. Path analysis and multiple group comparison analysis were conducted, controlled by child sex, mother's age and highest education level, and household financial assets. Results: The results were as follows: First, mother's marital conflict and satisfaction had a mediating effect on the relationship between father's child-rearing involvement and mother's warmth of parenting style. Second, mother's depression and self-esteem levels had a moderating effect the relationship between father's child-rearing involvement and mother's warmth of parenting style. In particular, mother's depression level affected the path between marital conflict and warmth of parenting style, and mother's self-esteem level affected the path between marital satisfaction and warmth of parenting style. Conclusion: Father's child-rearing involvement and mother's psychological level affect mother's marital relations and parenting style. Also, father's parenting involvement and psychological support is needed for a mother to regulate mood disorders, including depression and any self-serving bias.

  • 본 연구는 청소년의 스마트폰 의존도, 공격성 및 부모 양육방식 간의 관계를 규명하고, 스마트폰 의존도와 공격성에 대한 부모 양육방식의 매개효과를 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 첫째, 청소년의 스마트폰 의존도는 부모 양육방식 및 공격성에 부적 및 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 청소년의 스마트폰 의존도는 부모의 긍정적 양육방식을 매개로 청소년의 공격성에 부적으로 유의한 영향을 준 반면, 스마트폰 의존도는 부정적 양육방식을 매개로 공격성에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 준 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 청소년의 스마트폰 의존도는 공격성을 높였으며, 이 때 부모의 긍정적 양육방식(따스함, 자율성지지, 구조제공)은 스마트폰 의존도를 매개하여 청소년의 공격성을 낮춘 반면, 부모의 부정적 양육방식(거부, 강요, 비일관성)은 스마트폰 의존도를 매개하여 공격성을 높이는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among mother's psychological characteristics(self-esteem, self-efficacy, and depression), parenting related factors(maternal parenting stress and mother's knowledge on infant development), maternal parenting style, and two-year-old infants' development. The participants consisted of 1735 mothers and their two-year old infants selected from a sample of the 3rd Panel Study of Korean Children(PSKC) by the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education(KICCE), conducted in 2010. Data were analyzed by means of a Structural Equation Model(SEM) to identify the structure and relationships among the various factors. The significance of direct and indirect effects to test the mediating effect of maternal parenting style were identified via bootstrapping. The results indicated that maternal parenting style most definitely mediated the relationship among the mother's psychological characteristics(self-esteem and self-efficacy), parenting related factors(maternal parenting stress and mother's knowledge on Infant development) and the development of their two-year-old infants.

어머니의 양육 스트레스, 갈등대처행동 및 결혼만족도가 유아의 위축행동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Maternal Parenting Stress, Coping Style, and Marital Satisfaction on Preschool Children's Withdrawal Behavior)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the general tendencies of maternal parenting stress, coping style, marital satisfaction and preschool children's withdrawal behavior as well as to investigate the effects of maternal parenting stress, coping style, and marital satisfaction on preschool children's withdrawal behavior. The participants involved 86 mothers of preschoolers and their teachers from one day care center and two kindergartens in Seoul and Gyeong-gi province. Maternal parenting stress, coping style and marital satisfaction were assessed by the mothers' self-reports, whereas the preschool children's withdrawal behavior was assessed by the teacher's report. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, t-test and multiple regressions. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS ver. 15.0. The major findings were summarized as follows: There were no differences between maternal parenting stress, coping style and marital satisfaction between mothers of boys and girls. Further, there were differences in preschool children's withdrawal behavior between boys and girls; girls showed more withdrawal behaviors than boys. Typical stress due to parenting, outsider's help coping style and marital satisfaction explained the withdrawal behavior of preschool children. As the level of typical stress increase in mothers, preschool children showed increased withdrawal behavior. Moreover, as mothers used fewer outsider's help coping style and had lower marital satisfaction, their preschool children's showed increased withdrawal behavior. In conclusion, maternal parenting stress, coping style and marital satisfaction significantly influence on preschool children's withdrawal behavior.

대학생이 지각한 부모의 지배형 양육태도와 학업성취도의 구조적 관계 (Structural Modeling of an Authoritarian Parenting Style and Academic Achievement among College Students)

  • The main purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between perceived the authoritarian parenting style and academic achievement among college students. Specifically, it is hypothesized that authoritarian parenting would indirectly affect the academic achievement of college students through self-differentiation level and career decision-making self-efficacy. 283 college students, after the consideration of their grade and gender, were selected for this study as participants. Methods describing the primary analytical technique of Structural Equation Modeling were used for the study. The results demonstrate that an authoritarian parenting style negatively affected the academic achievement of college students. There are mediation effects of self-differentiation and career decision-making self-efficacy between the perceived authoritarian parenting style and academic achievement among college students. The findings imply that the positive development of adult children requires more egalitarian parenting styles than those used on early adolescents. Next, for female students, specialized career counseling programs focusing on reducing psychological career barriers and career stress are needed. Lastly, it is implied that parenting styles used on adult children in Korea may differ from Western styles. Therefore, it may be difficult to explain the relationship between parents and adult children with a traditional theoretical framework.

어머니의 누적적인 양육스트레스와 아동의 인지 및 언어발달의 관계에서 온정적 양육방식과 일상적 상호작용의 매개효과 (The Sequential Mediation Effects of Warm Parenting Style and Daily Activity between Cumulative Parenting Stress and Child Development)

  • Objective: This study aimed to examine the mediation effects of parenting style and daily activity on the relationships between cumulative parental stress and cognitive and language development of children. Methods: The participants of this study were 1,154 mothers, their five-year-old children, and teachers enrolled in the population-based study of the Panel Study of Korea Children (PSKC) conducted by the Korea Institute of Childcare and Education from 2008 to 2013. In order to analyze the data, descriptive analysis, Pearson correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling were used. Results: The results revealed that warm parenting style as well as daily activity had dual mediating effects between cumulative parental stress and child development (cognitive and language development). However, warm parenting style did not have any direct effects on child development in this model. Conclusion/Implications: Given that actual mother-child daily activity had an important role in affecting child development, support programs for parenting should include activities that include specific materials and activities which parents can do with their children in everyday life.

아버지의 거부적 양육태도와 유아 인성 간의 관계에서 아버지 공동체 의식의 매개효과 (The Mediating Effects of Fathers' Community Spirit on the Relationship between Fathers' Rejective Parenting Style and Their Children's Humanity)

  • 본 연구는 아버지의 거부적 양육태도와 공동체 의식, 유아의 인성 간의 관계를 밝히고, 아버지의 거부적 양육태도와 유아의 인성 간의 관계에 아버지의 공동체 의식이 매개 효과가 있는지를 규명하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 서울시에 소재한 유치원에 재원중인 만 4세와 5세 유아 207명과 그 아버지 207명으로 조사된 자료는 상관분석과 중다회귀분석을 통해 분석하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 아버지의 거부적 양육태도와 공동체 의식, 그리고 유아의 인성을 유아의 성과 연령에 따라 차이가 있는지를 살펴본 결과 유의한 차이가 없었다. 둘째, 유아의 인성은 아버지의 거부적 양육태도와는 부적 상관이, 아버지의 공동체 의식과는 정적 상관이 있었다. 셋째, 부모의 거부적 양육태도가 유아의 인성에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 아버지의 공동체 의식이 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 유아기 자녀의 인성은 아버지의 공동체 의식과 밀접한 관계가 있으며 거부적인 양육태도를 가진 아버지라도 공동체 의식수준이 높으면 유아기 자녀의 인성에 긍정적 영향을 준다는 점을 시사하고 있다.

학령후기 아동이 지각한 부모의 양육태도와 건강증진행위 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과 연구 (Mediating Effect of Self-esteem between Children's Perceived Parenting Style and Health Promoting Behavior of School-Aged Children)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 학령후기 아동이 지각한 부모의 양육태도, 아동의 자아존중감이 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향을 파악하고, 양육태도와 건강증진행위 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과를 확인하기 위함이다. 연구대상은 초등학교 5, 6학년 학생 425명이었으며 SPSS 22.0 프로그램을 사용하여 t-test, 상관관계분석, 위계적 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 학령후기 아동이 지각한 부모의 양육태도가 수용적일수록, 자아존중감이 높을수록, 건강증진행위 실천을 잘하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 자아존중감은 아동이 지각한 부모의 양육태도와 건강증진행위 간의 관계에서, 매개 작용을 하여 건강증진행위 실천에 유의하게 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 학령후기 아동을 대상으로 건강증진행위 교육 프로그램 적용 시, 부모의 양육태도 및 아동의 자아존중감을 사정하며, 부모가 수용적 양육태도를 갖도록 지지하여, 아동의 자아존중감을 증진시키고, 건강증진행위 실천을 강화시키는 방안을 고려해야 한다.

만3세 자녀를 둔 어머니의 양육특성 및 부부특성이 양육스트레스에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Parenting Styles of Mothers of Three-Year-old Children Characteristics of Parents on the Mother's Parenting Stress)

  • This study investigates the relationships between the parenting stress of mothers of three-year-old children, and parenting styles of these mothers, and characteristics of parents to analyze relevant variables influencing parenting stress. Data on a total of 1,704 mothers from the 2011 Korean Children Panel Survey of the Child-Care Policy Research Institute were analysed. First, the parenting stress of mothers of three-year-old children was negatively correlated with parenting style, marital conflict, and husband's cooperation, but positively correlated with their marital conflict. Second, the positive parenting style had the greatest effect on the parenting stress of mothers of three-year-old children, followed by marital conflict. These results demonstrate that parents' positive parenting style and harmony education and social support for the parenting stress of mothers of three-year-old children.

Association between Perceived Parenting Style and Adolescents' Attitudes toward Suicide

  • Objectives: Adolescent suicide, a major cause of adolescent death, is affected by various factors, including attitudes toward suicide. This study investigated the association between parenting style and adolescents' attitudes toward suicide and the mediating role of attitude toward suicide between parenting style and suicidal ideation. Methods: We surveyed 1,071 adolescents from eight middle schools in Incheon, Korea. The survey included sociodemographic information, attitudes toward suicide, perception of parenting style, depression severity, and suicidality. Results: Students in the authoritarian parenting group had a more permissive attitude toward suicide compared with the democratic and permissive parenting groups. These students considered that suicide is justified in certain situations and that choosing suicide is an individual's right. They also had a negative attitude toward talking about suicide or intervening in others' suicide. This association remained statistically significant after adjusting for the impact of confounding factors that could affect attitudes toward suicide, except for suicidal processes and preparedness to prevent suicide. In the mediation analysis, we observed that some factors of the attitudes toward suicide mediated between authoritarian parenting attitudes and suicidal ideation, namely, suicide as a right, preventability, suicide as normal/common, preparedness to prevent suicide, and resignation. Conclusion: This study revealed the significant impact of parenting style on children's attitudes toward suicide. Educating parents about the appropriate parenting attitudes-sympathetic and rational-can help prevent youth suicide.
