영아의 기질과 발달수준 및 어머니의 양육 특성 변인이 양육효능감에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Infant Temperament, Development, and Maternal Parenting Variables on Parenting Efficacy)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate which variables predicted parenting efficacy. The variables of interest were demographic variables regarding both the infants and mothers, infant temperament and development, maternal parenting knowledge, parenting belief, and parenting stress. The subjects consisted of 260 infants and mothers. Data on infant's temperament, parenting knowledge, parenting belief, parenting stress and parenting efficacy were gathered through maternal self-reported questionnaires. Furthermore, infant development was assessed by classroom teacher. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analyses. Our results indicated that infant's sociability and activity, parenting knowledge about emotional development, parenting beliefs emphasizing the role of nature in infant development, low parenting stress all predicted parenting efficacy.

어머니의 반응적/제한적 양육행동과 또래애착이 학령기 남녀 아동의 학업 스트레스에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Mother's Responsive/Restrictive Parenting and Peer Attachment on Academic Stress in School Aged Boys and Girls)

  • This study aimed to investigate the influence of mother's responsive/restrictive parenting and peer attachment on academic stress in school-aged boys and girls. The participants were 493 5th, 6th graders from five elementary schools in Daegu and Gyeongbuk province. The collected data were analyzed through a t-test, multiple regression, hierarchial regression using SPSS Win 19.0. The results are as follows. (1) Level of academic stress of school-aged girls was higher than boys. (2) Responsive parenting of mothers was the most powerful explanation in academic stress of school-aged boys. However restrictive parenting of mothers was the most powerful explanation in academic stress of school-aged girls. (3) In boys, responsive parenting of mothers influenced their academic stress but peer attachment didn't influence the boys academic stress. In girls, responsive parenting of mothers and peer attachment influenced their academic stress, and interaction effects of responsive parenting of mothers and peer attachment on academic stress was observed. (4) Both boys and girls, restrictive parenting of mothers and peer attachment had influences on academic stress. And interaction effects of responsive parenting of mothers and peer attachment on academic stress was not observed.

  • This study is to examine the relationships between experiences in the family of origin with fathers, parenting participation of fathers, and parenting stress of mothers. The subjects in this study consisted of 203 couples with children of ages 3, 4, and5 attending child care centers in the Gyeong-gi province. The results of this research are summarized as follows. First, experiences in the family of origin with fathers, have meaningful correlations with parenting participation of fathers and parenting stress of mothers. Also, parenting participation of fathers has meaningful correlations with parenting stress of mothers. Second, experiences in the family of origin with fathers have direct/indirect influence on parenting stress of mothers and parenting participation of fathers played a mediating role between the two variables. It is significant that these results give the basic research data for developing aparental education program that can lower parenting stress of mothers by parenting participation of fathers.

어머니의 인구사회학적 특성과 양육스트레스가 자녀의 자아개념에 미치는 영향 : 양육 태도의 매개적 역할을 고려하여 (Effects of Maternal Sociodemographic Characteristics and Parenting Stress on a Child's Self-Concept: Parenting Style as a Mediating Factor)

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to examine the effects of maternal sociodemographic characteristics, especially education and employment, and parenting stress on the child's self-concept. Attention was also paid to the mediating impact of parenting style on the relationship between the maternal variables and a child's self-concept. Methods : A questionnaire and three scales were completed by fifth graders and their mothers, and 270 sets of paired data were analyzed. Results : The results showed that mothers with higher education experienced less child-related parenting stress, were perceived to be more achievement-oriented and rational by their children, and also had children with more positive self-concept. The relationship between maternal education and child's self-concept was mediated by the rationality dimension of parenting style. Maternal employment was not related to parenting stress, parenting style and most aspects of the child's self-concept. Lastly, child-related parenting stress had a negative effect on the child's self-concept, and this effect was mediated by the warmth and rationality dimensions of parenting style. Conclusion : Parenting style had a mediating effect on the relationships between the child's self-concept and maternal education and child-related parenting stress.

학령 초기 자녀를 둔 한국과 일본 어머니의 양육스트레스, 양육효능감 및 양육행동 간의 관계 (The Relationships between Parenting Stress, Parenting Sense of Competence, and Parenting Behavior in Korean and Japanese Mothers of Early School-Aged Children)

  • This study examined the relationships between parenting stress, parenting sense of competence, and parenting behavior in Korean and Japanese mothers of early school-aged children. A sample of 166 Korean mothers and 112 Japanese mothers completed questionnaires. First, in terms of results, Korean mothers reported higher scores in parenting stress, parenting sense of competence, and warmth and neglect than Japanese mothers did. In contrast, Japanese mothers scored higher on intrusiveness than Korean mothers. Second, for both groups, parenting stress was negatively related to warmth and reasoning, and positively related to intrusiveness, coercion, and neglect. Third, for both groups, parenting sense of competence was positively linked to warmth and reasoning, and negatively linked to intrusiveness, coercion, and neglect. Fourth, parenting stress was negatively associated with parenting sense of competence for both groups. Finally, parenting sense of competence mediated the associations between parenting stress and warmth for both groups. Only in the case of Korean mothers did parenting stress influence reasoning and intrusiveness through parenting sense of competence. These results imply that there may indeed be cross-cultural similarities and differences in three parenting-related variables between Korean and Japanese mothers.

장애아동 부모의 양육 스트레스가 양육 효능감을 경유하여 정신건강에 미치는 영향: 양육시간의 조절된 매개효과 (Effect of parenting stress on mental health of parents raising children with disabilities through parenting efficacy: Moderated mediating effect of parenting time)

  • 본 연구는 장애아동을 양육하는 부모의 양육 스트레스가 양육 효능감을 경유하여 정신건강에 미치는 영향을 양육시간이 조절 매개하는지를 검증하여 장애아동 약육 부모의 양육 스트레스를 감소시킬 수 있는 기초자료를 제공하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 조사대상은 장애아를 둔 부모였으며 총 315명이었다. 자료는 SPSS Win. Ver. 25와 SPSS PROCESS macro 4.2를 활용하여 분석하였다. 기술통계 분석, 신뢰도 분석, 상관분석 및 조절된 매개효과 분석이 적용되었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 장애아동을 양육하는 부모의 양육 스트레스는 양육 효능감과 정적 상관관계, 양육 스트레스와 정신건강은 부적인 상관관계, 양육 효능감과 정신건강은 부적인 상관관계를 보였다. 둘째, 양육시간은 양육 스트레스가 양육 효능감을 경유하여 정신건강에 미치는 영향을 조절 매개하였다. 결론적으로 장애아동을 양육하는 부모의 양육시간은 양육 스트레스가 양육 효능감을 거쳐 정신건강에 미치는 부정적인 영향을 상승시키는 역할을 함을 확인하였다.

결혼이주여성과 한국여성의 양육 스트레스 비교 (Comparison of Parenting Stress between Married Migrants and Korean Women)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare parenting stress between married migrant women and Korean women. Methods: Subjects were 68 married migrant women and 70 Korean women raising children aged seven years or younger, living in three different cities in Gangwon Do. To measure parenting stress, we used Kim's (1997) questionnaire that had been modified from Richard & Abidin's (1990) Parenting Stress Index (PSI). Results: There were significant differences between the two groups in age, academic credentials, job, monthly income, and achievement of maternal role. No statistically significant differences were found for parenting stress scores (p<.355), but there was a significant difference in the child characteristics of parenting stress (p<.007) between the two groups. There were no differences in the demographic variables influencing parenting stress between the two groups. Conclusion: The development of multi-cultural parenting and family support programs should consider the nationality and marital satisfaction of the family.

어머니의 양육효능감과 공감 증진 및 양육스트레스 감소를 위한 자녀양육코칭 프로그램의 개발과 효과 (The Development and the Effectiveness of a Parenting Coaching Program for Parenting Competence, Empathy, and Parenting Stress in Mothers)

  • The purpose of this study is, first, to develop a Parenting Coaching Program to improve parenting competence, and empathy skills, and reduce parenting stress for mothers and second, to examine the program's effectiveness. The program consists of 8 sessions and each session employs a variety of activities and parenting skills to help mothers. The Parenting Sentence of Competence Scale, Empathy Scale, and Parenting Stress Index were used as a pre-test, post-test, and follow-up test, respectively. The data was analyzed by the SPSS 16.0 program, which applied the t-test. Twelve mothers participated in eight sessions of the Parenting Coaching Program, and were compared with the control group of twelve mothers who did not receive treatment. The treatment group statistically showed significant improvement in parenting competence, empathy, and a significant decrease in stress level, in comparison to the control group. It was concluded that the Parenting Coaching Program was effective for improving parenting competence, and empathy skills, and reducing stress.

학동기 자녀를 둔 부모의 양육스트레스 척도 개발 (Parenting Stress Scale for Parents of School-Aged Children)

  • This study was conducted to develop a Parenting Stress Scale that measures the day-to-day difficulties entailed in parenting for school-aged children. First, sixty seven items were collected as a baseline. Some of these items were pooled from existing parenting stress scales(Abidin, 1990; Kim & Kang, 1997), and the rest were generated based on interviews with parents of school-aged children. Secondly, Chi-Square tests were conducted and framer's V coefficients were calculated to determine the goodness-of-fit of the items. Twenty four items were selected from this step. The results of a factor analysis on these 24 items revealed two dimensions of this new Parenting Stress Scale, namely, 'school-related parenting stress' and 'general everyday life stress'. A test of construct validity also showed that this scale has adequate internal consistency.

  • This study investigates the relationships between the parenting stress of mothers of three-year-old children, and parenting styles of these mothers, and characteristics of parents to analyze relevant variables influencing parenting stress. Data on a total of 1,704 mothers from the 2011 Korean Children Panel Survey of the Child-Care Policy Research Institute were analysed. First, the parenting stress of mothers of three-year-old children was negatively correlated with parenting style, marital conflict, and husband's cooperation, but positively correlated with their marital conflict. Second, the positive parenting style had the greatest effect on the parenting stress of mothers of three-year-old children, followed by marital conflict. These results demonstrate that parents' positive parenting style and harmony education and social support for the parenting stress of mothers of three-year-old children.
