Participant observations, in-depth interviews, and analyses of documents were used for collecting data. Children separated from their parents were living with grandparents because their parents were working abroad. Results included socio-cultural and psycho-social factors. (1) The socio-cultural grounded factors or the common characteristics of young children's family life in both living circumstances included early childhood academic achievement orientation, demands of responsibility and obedience, limited opportunity for social development, and societal phenomenadeveloping wide family concept affected by China's Confucianism and Korean-Chinese social culture. (2) Psycho-social grounded factors included the present care-givers' perceptions of the child's agency and their beliefs in the importance of play and friendship. This affected interactions between child and care-giversand child's self-esteem and friendships.
This study investigates working parent stress. This study surveyed 240 working mothers who are raising toddlers and 106 teachers in Seoul, Cyeong-gi, and Incheon. For this study, the Parenting Stress scale developed by Kim & Kang (1997) was used as the instruments for measurement and parental stress. To measure maternal separation anxiety, this study used the Maternal Separation Anxiety Scale (MSAS) developed by Hock (1989), while the Attitude for Occupation scale developed by Farel (1980) was used to measure the attitude for occupation. In addition, the Preschool Adjustment Questionnaire (PAQ) developed by Jewsuwan, Luster and Kostelink (1992), and modified by Oh Chong Eun (2001) were used as the instruments for measurement and adjustment. Data analysis was done using the SPSS WIN 15.0 version and the collected data were subject to a descriptive statistical analysis, one-way ANOVA t-test, and multiple regression analysis. The influential independent variables affecting parenting stress listed in order of significance were maternal attitude for occupation, adjustment of children, maternal anxiety, and income.

The film "The World of Us (2016)" shows the acquisition and loss of friendship that occur in the process of interpersonal shifts in latency school girls. Connection to the peer group helps compensate for the latency child's loss of parent-child intimacy and the ensuing feelings of loneliness. The protagonists realize that the relationship is not for retaliation or for victory, but for playing together. However the reality that lies in front of them will not be so easy. Watching this film reminds one of childhood.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the psychological/physical home environment, and children's moral judgement and moral behaviors. The subjects for this study were a normal group of 58 children and a delinquent group of 54 children. The normal children were selected from elementary and middle schools in Taegu city, and the delinquent children were from two juvenile prisons in the Taegu area. Children's moral judgement scores were measured by levels of moral judgement as conceptualized by Kohlberg. The major findings of this study were that: 1) There were significant differences between the normal and delinquent groups on democratic conduct, permissive attitude, degree of intimacy between parent and child, and materialism orientation. 2) There were significant differences between the normal and delinquent group on life or death of real parent, living with parents, separation, bereavement or divorce, mother's age, father's educational level, and father's occupational level. 3) There were significant differences between the normal and delinquent group on children's moral judgement scales. 4) Father's educational level was the best index for predicting psychological and physical home environment variables and differences between normal and delinquent children on level of moral judgement.

Aim:We think that the most important etiology in parent abuse is the psychodynamic and psychopathology in the family. So, we investigated the adolescents being admitted in SNMH, whose chief complaints were parent abuse. We were trying to explore families psychodynamic and psychopathology, especially mother-child interaction and to differentiate them in according to developmental psychopathology. Method:Our objects were the adolescent patients admitted in SNMH from 1987 to 1997 because they attacked parents verbally and physically. We examined 21 adolescents except those with psychosis, organic mental disorder, autism and mental retardation by means of interview or chart review. Result and Conclusion:The number of male patients was 14 and the number of female patients was 7. The most common diagnosis was conduct disorder and borderline personality disorder. The mean age was in the mid-teens. We observed 4 subgroups that were divided developmentally in object relation. 1) Symbiotic group with mother:(1) They did not separate and remain in symbiotic relationships with their mothers based on insecure attachment. Fathers were abscent emotionally and physically, and their mothers were prominent in close relationships with the patients in their family , where as the patients were the only man in the family. Adolescents entered the second separation-individuation. They expressed anger and internal tension involved with the close attachment with their mothers and also attempted separation from their mothers through physically attacking them. (2) These patients had suffered from physical illness and developmental delay since birth. Therefore the parents overprotected their children. The children had persistent infantile omnipotence and fantasies of power, so they could not deal with unrealistic states, adapt to reality, and depended on their parents overtly. They easily acted out unless their demands were fulfilled. 2) Borderline personality disorder:We observed deficiencies in care taking. Their parents had personality problems and immaturity. They coulden’t help their children to be separated in the rapproachment phase. Their conflict about dependence-independence was revived in the second separation-individuation adolescent period. We understand parent abuse as an attempt to overcome the conflict. 3) Conduct disorder:They did not build up basic attachment with their parents. They think of their parents as only a means of fulfilling their needs. When patients’ need were not fulfilled and remained in a conflicted state, they attacked their parents, unable to control their aggressions and impulses.
This research addressed the issue of how mothers' representations of attachment are transmitted to children, focusing on post-infancy attachment and on maternal stress as a mediator between mother's attachment style and child attachment security. Fifty-three mother-child dyads participated in a lab visit when the children were 30 months (T1) and 49 months (T2) of age. The Attachment Style Questionnaire and the Parental Stress Inventory were used to measure mothers' characteristics; the Separation-Reunion procedure and classification at T1 and the Attachment Q-set at T2 were used to measure children's attachment security. The models were analyzed by Analysis of Moment Structure Equation. Results confirmed evidence that no direct pathway exists between maternal attachment style and child attachment security : at T1 child attachment security formation was related to maternal stress, but there was no such relationship at T2.
Sixty-three children aged 5 and 6 years and their mothers and teachers participated in this study examining the association between attachment and social competence. The quality of attachment was assessed using Separation Anxiety Test developed by Slough and Greenberg. Mothers and teachers completed questionnaires regarding family background and social competence(Iowa Social Competence Scale:Preschool), Consistent with attachment theory and previous research, there were significant relationships between children's attachment quality and their social competence. Attachment scores were positively associated with Social Competence and Leadership scores and negatively with Apprehension and Hypersensitivity scores. In contrast, Avoidance scores were negatively correlated with Social Competence and Leadership scores and positively with Hypersensitivity scores.
This study focused on the parent.child relationship and its, which has effect on the newly.wedded marital adjustment. Based on the relationship with analyzing attachment to parents, psychological separation, and newly.wedded marital adjustment, the research was conducted focusing on explored the relationships influences among these influences things. The subjects of this study were 216 in the newly-wedded couples with less than 5 years since of marriage. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, as a result of analysis of differences in marital adjustment according to attachment to parents revealed that, the group with stable attachment to parents showed the more a smoother adjustment in their relationships with the spouses after marriage. Second, as a result of analyzing analysis of the difference in marital adjustment according to psychological separation from parents indicated that, the higher psychological separation from parents showed the related to higher marital adjustment.
The goal of modern nursing is to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients. If comprehensive nursing care to children (within the hospital setting) is to be provided, consideration of the stage of growth and development of the child is especially important. From clinical observation, it appeared that nurses often disregarded individual requirements of children in giving nursing care. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to show that comprehensive nursing care which is based on an understanding of the growth and development of the child contributes to both the child and the mother's adaptability to the child's hospitalization. Method: Sixty children, three to three year of age, hospitalized at the Yonsei University Pediatric Ward ware studied. From April 1, 1973 to May 5, 1973, children admitted to the hospital were assigned to either an experimental or a compare groups. There were 30 children in each group. The sex and age of the children in each group was similar. In both groups were more male than female children. In the experimental group, each mother stayed with hot child continuously during his hospitalization. In the compare groups, the mother or some other member of the family stayed with the child. Each day on the child's admission the investigator visited the ward from 1-2 P.M. to 9-10 P.M., in order to provide comprehensive care for the experimental -group. The assistance given the nurses by the investigator was in the form of conferences regarding care and in giving direct care to the child and his mother. The compare group of children received nursing care as usually provided by the hospital. The instruments used to obtain the data for analysis were as follows: 1. The fear and anxiety reaction of the child was recorded by observation of the investigator for four areas: 1) separation from parent and relatives 2) reaction to Doctor and Nurse with white gowns 3) reaction to nursing care 4) reaction to injection and tests, etc. 2. Regression in area of eating, sleeping, and elimination were recorded by the investigator by questioning the mother and by observation. 3. Adaptability to the hospitalization was recorded by direct questioning of the children for areas of emotional and social adjustment. For children older than 3 years of age or children not seriously ill, using the simple I. Q. test this was possible for only 35 of the total 60 children. Result: 1. 55 percents of the total 60 children had been prepared by their parents for hospitalization. The children who had received prior preparation accepted hospitalization more readily than those who had received no preparation. (χ²=4.6 Ρ<0.05) 2. On admission 31.7 percent of the children expressed verbal fear of their discase or treatment. 25 percent felt that the disease was due to their mistake. 3. There was a significant difference in the reaction of the child to separation from the parent or relatives between the two groups. The experimental groups showed less anxiety due to separation than the compare group. (χ²=4.34 Ρ<0.05) In both groups there was less anxiety due to separation among school age (6-12 years) children than among preschool age (3-5 years) children. (χ²=9.22 Ρ<0.05) 4. More than half of the children in both groups reacted with fear and avoidance to doctor and/or nurses wearing white gowns. (χ²=0.06 Ρ<0.05) 5. The experimental group reacted more favorably to nursing in general than the compare group. (χ²=4.8 Ρ<0.05) 6. There was no difference in the fear and refused reaction to special tests and/or such as X-rays and injections, etc. between the groups. (χ²=3.77 Ρ<0.05) 7. More children in the compare group showed regressive tendencies in eating, sleeping, and elimination habits than in experimental groups. (χ²=2.3 Ρ<0.05 χ²=3.88 Ρ<0.05 χ²=4.9 Ρ<0.05) 8. There was a significant difference in the adaptability to hospitalization between the two groups. The experimental groups adapted more readily. (χ²=2.02 Ρ<0.05) 9. For children who had higher I.Q. s the adaptability to hospitalization was better regardless of the group. (χ²=5.03 Ρ<0.05) However, because of the small number of cases (60), this finding cannot be extrapolated without further verification. The date demonstrates that there was a greater adaptability to hospitalization by the child when comprehensive nursing care was given. By planning care and applying knowledge of growth and development to meet, nurses are in a position to prevent some of the psychological trauma associated with hospitalization.
This research studies the residential environment of the elderly and its trend. Our main focus is on the residential condition and its type between parents and their child/ren in korea which has already entered the aging society. The results are as follows: (1) This paper finds that the residence type of the households with elderly people becomes multifarious, as in a two-generation household, a couple and their single child, a couple family, etc. (2) The parents living separately from their child/ren account for 63.3%, which is becoming predominant in the residence type of the elderly. On the other hand, those living with their child/ren take up merely 24.5%. Thus, we can infer that the number of the parents with the former type is on the increase. (3) The residence type in reality is different from the one intended by elderly people, so we can estimate future change in the residence type. (4) The residence type varies, as in living together with young family, living separately from young family, separation at a distance, etc. In conclusion, we need appropriate living programs for each various residence type between elderly people and their children.
