Strain-Sensing Characteristics of Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube Sheet

  • In this paper, the properties of strain sensors made of spin-capable multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were characterized and their sensing mechanisms analyzed. The key contribution of this paper is a new fabrication technique that introduces a simpler transfer method compared to spin-coating or dispersion CNT. Resistance of the MWCNT sheet strain sensor increased linearly with higher strain. To investigate the effect of CNT concentration on sensitivity, two strain sensors with different layer numbers of MWCNT sheets (one and three layers) were fabricated. According to the results, the sensor with a three-layer sheet showed higher sensitivity than that with one layer. In addition, experiments were conducted to examine the effects of environmental factors, temperature, and gas on sensor sensitivity. An increase in temperature resulted in a reduction in sensor sensitivity. It was also observed that ambient gas influenced the properties of the MWCNT sheet due to charge transfer. Experimental results showed that there was a linear change in resistance in response to strain, and the resistance of the sensor fully recovered to its unstressed state and exhibited stable electromechanical properties.

  • The sensor networks should be appropriately designed by applied network purpose, so that they can support proper application functions. Based on the design of suitable network model, the network lifetime can be maximized than using other general strategies which have not the consideration of specific network environments. In this paper, we propose a non-deterministic agent scheme to the mobile sink in distributed wireless sensor networks. The sensor network area can be divided into several sensor regions. Hence, to these such networks, the specified suitable scheme is requested by the applied network model to implement satisfactory network management. In this paper, we theoretically represent the proposed scheme, and provide the evaluation with the simulation results.

  • This paper presents a sensor system which recognizes the location of a magnet using cheap hall sensor. The proposed methods measure magnetic field from a magnet using model equation, analyze the property of horizontal and vertical magnetic field, and decide the method of sensor arrangement. And, this paper proposes the algorithm which infers the location of a magnet from the measured magnetic field that relates the position between the magnet and the hall sensor, and calculate theoretical error, which is found to be no more than 0.0025cm. The results actually measured show that the measured error no more than 0.07cm and confirm that proposed systems are highly applicable to the various situations.

A Naming Application Model for Sensor Networks (센서 네트워크를 위한 네이밍 응용 모델)

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce Naming application model for sensor networks. Currently, sensor networks comprised of sensor nodes have provided an application range which could not function before. However, unlike general network, current sensor networks are designed to cooperate with major wireless-capable sensor devices with limited resources. Thus, exporting/importing between individual sensor and current sensor networks is very inefficient and unstable. Attribute, schema and DIT(Directory Information Tree) must be designed for sensor network using SN LDAP application model in order to maintain transparency and provide constant service in a situation of data defect. With the system explained as above, Naming application model is made to manage SN Fuzzy Query. It shall be more efficient and stable structure as long as Naming application using a virtual equation in a certain environment with information collected from sensor node is provided. In this paper, I would like to introduce SN Fuzzy LDAP model for sensor network by quick Naming method. Also, naming application which is possible for fuzzy query in a certain environment based on the system will be proved.

An Efficient Hybrid Lookup Service Exploiting Localized Query Traffic (질의의 지역성을 이용한 효율적인 하이브리드 검색 서비스)

  • Since the development of the Distributed Hash Tables (DHTs), the distributed lookup services are one of the hot topics in the networking area. The main reason of this popularity is the simplicity of the lookup structure. However, the simple key based search mechanism makes the so called "keyword" based search difficult if not impossible. Thus, the applicability of the DHTs is limited to certain areas. In this paper. we find that DHTs can be used as the ubiquitous sensor network (USN) metadata lookup service across a large number of sensor networks. The popularity of the Ubiquitous Sensor Network has motivated the development of the USN middleware services for the sensor networks. One of the key functionalities of the USN middleware service is the lookup of the USN metadata, by which users get various information about the sensor network such as the type of the sensor networks and/or nodes, the residual of the batteries, the type of the sensor nodes. Traditional distributed hash table based lookup systems are good for one sensor network. However, as the number of sensor network increases, the need to integrate the lookup services of many autonomous sensor networks so that they can provide the users an integrated view of the entire sensor network. In this paper, we provide a hybrid lookup model, in which the autonomous lookup services are combined together and provide seamless services across the boundary of a single lookup services. We show that the hybrid model can provide far better lookup performance than a single lookup system.

Performance Evaluation of App Profile-based Sensor Registry System considering User Mobility and Sensor Density (사용자 이동성과 센서 밀집도를 고려한 앱 프로파일 기반 센서 레지스트리 시스템의 성능 평가)

  • SRS was proposed for immediate processing of the meaning of sensor data on mobile devices independent from specific sensor networks and sensor type. However, each time new sensor data is received, sensor data inspection operations are performed repeatedly, and it cause resulting in low performance. App profile-based SRS has been proposed to resolve the problem. The app profile-based SRS has improved the SRS problem through the profile, but has been tested in a virtual simulation environment. After that the test was experimented in a real-time environment, but has not been tested with a variety of dynamic factors. Therefore, this paper experiment considering such as user mobility and sensor density in real-time environment. And this paper also evaluate performance of the App profile-based through analysis of the results of the experiment. As a result, app profile-based SRS is high influence by density and sensor type, and the number of sensor node is not influence.

  • In this paper, we analyses of a traffic for authentication signaling in third generation mobile sensor network. In universal mobile telecommunication system, authentication functions are utilized to identify and authentication a mobile station and validate the service request network services. The authenticating parties are the authentication the serving general packet radio service support node access the authentication center to obtain the authentication with the mobile station. In this paper, we propose that the automatic cost-effective solution size of the authentication vector array.

  • This paper proposes a control method for three-phase voltage-source PWM converters using only a single current sensor in the DC link. A predictive current controller for the voltage-source PWM converter is used so that all phase currents can be reconstructed in a switching period although one or two of active vectors are applied only for a short time. Compensation of the 2 step delays is also included. In this paper single sensor current control using predictive state observer will be discussed, and investigated experimentally.

  • In most shipyards, the measurement of 3-dimensional relative position of pipes should be connected in the block depends on the manual operation. It results a very tedious and inefficient procedure, thus the proper measurement system is needed to improve productivity and accuracy. This paper describes the development of pipe measurement system including system concepts, measuring procedures, system calibration, and its accuracy and productivity. And also, the possibility and things to be improved for application in shipyard are discussed in this paper.

  • This paper represents a absolute position tracking system with sensor fusion and PD-gain. this paper presents an accurate localization method by relative and absolute sensor fusion and PD control for position tracking of mobile robot. we developed a sensor based absolution position tracking and smooth moving algorithm using this algorithm.
