  • The emergence of Bluetooth as a radio interface scheme has allowed electronic devices to be instantly interconnected as ad-hoc networks. These short range ad-hoc wireless networks are called piconets, operated in the unlicensed 2.45 GHz ISM(Industrial, Scientific, Medical) band where up to eight devices may be used to configure single or overlapping piconets. In this paper, we have simulated the PER(Packet Error Rate), the ratio of received packet and payload BER(Bit Error Rate) of piconet with packet types of Bluetooth ACL/SCO(Asynchronous Connection Less/Synchronous Connection Oriented) link over wireless ad-hoc environment. The Rayleigh fading effects are considered as channel model, and the simulation results are based on the baseband model of Bluetooth specification. From the simulation results, the PER and the throughput of Bluetooth piconet are sensibly affected by the packet type of ACL/SCO link.

  • Coexistence of different wireless systems that share the 2.4 GHz ISM frequency band is becoming one of the most important issue. This paper presents a model of the interference that IEEE 802.11b may experience because of IEEE 802.15.4. The packet error rate (PER) of IEEE 802.11b under the interference of IEEE 802.15.4 is analyzed. The PER is obtained by using the bit error rate (BER) and the collision time. The analytical results are validated using simulation.

  • This paper analyzes the performance of a Bluetooth piconet in error-prone environments. A statistical characterization of a waiting time, an end-to-end delay, and a goodput are derived analytically in terms of the arrival rates, the number of slaves, and the packet error rate (PER). For simplicity, half-symmetric piconet is assumed in this analysis. Both exhaustive and limited scheduling are considered. The analytic results are validated by simulations.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel protocol called a Multi-hop Diversity Transmission protocol in which the retransmission is realized by a relay that is Nearest to a current Source (MDTNS). We derive the mathematical expressions of the packet error rate (PER) and the average number of transmissions over Nakagami-m fading channels, and verify them by Monte Carlo simulations. The simulation results show that the MDTNS protocol improves the performance of the network in terms of PER when compared to the Multi-hop Diversity Transmission protocol in which the retransmission is done by a relay that is Nearest to Destination (MDTND) and to the conventional multi-hop transmission (CMT) protocol.

  • This paper has simulated the PER(Packet Error Rate), ratio of received packet and payload BER of Bluetooth system with packet types of ACL(Asynchronous Connection Less) and SCO(Synchronous Connection Oriented) link over wireless Ad-hoc environment. AWGN(Additive White Gaussian Noise) and Rayleigh fading are considered as channel model, and the analysis is based on the baseband model of Bluetooth system. In terms of PER and ratio of received packet, performance of DM1 packet is almost same as those of HV1, HV2 and HV3 packets, the performances of the other packets depend on the packet types. In terms of payload BER performance, there is no difference among HV2 packet of SCO link and DM1, DM3, DM5 packets of ACL link. Moreover, there is no difference among HV3 packet of SCO link and DM1, DM3, DM5 packets of ACL link, too.

  • This paper analyzes transmissiondelays of a message and a packet in a time-varying and packet-based radio link. The paper assumes that thearrivals of messages have a Bernoulli process and the lengths of the messages a exponential distribution. To reflect the feature of the time-varying radio link, we use a two-state Markov model. From the model the mean transmission delay of and the mean queue length of the packet are analyzed in terms of the packet distribution function, the packet transmission service time, and the PER of the radio link. And the mean message transmission delay time and the mean queue length are derived using the performance indices of the packet. Numerical results show that the message arrival rate and the message length have some bounds to keep the transmission of the message steady and to improve the performance indices of the message. It can be known that the PER of the state influences on the performance indices more than the sojourn time of the state.

  • In this paper, two selection relaying schemes are proposed and compared with each other in terms of packet error rate (PER) and diversity order. Moreover, the comparison is performed over two different fading environments including fast and slow fading environments in which the diversity order is considered as the important factor to reach the decision which scheme is suitable for each fading environment. Numerical results validate the analytical results and indicate significant differences on the PER performance of two schemes over two fading environments.

  • This paper proposes a variable data transfer asymmetric TDD(Time Division Duplex) system for small UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) data link system. In the proposed method, a turbo decoder with a double buffer controller is proposed to apply turbo decoder with long decoding time to asymmetric TDD system. The proposed method achieves variable data transfer rate and maximum data transfer rate. The advantage of the proposed method is demonstrated by its data transfer rate. The measured data transfer rate is more than 1.8 times than that of symmetric TDD system. In addition, PER(Packet Error Rate) performance is the same and data transfer rate is variable.

  • In the terrestrial optical wireless communication(OWC), the performance is affected by atmospheric turbulence and particles in the air. The received signal power loss mainly is caused by turbulence and scattering. To minimize the adverse atmospheric effects, the OWC used optical signal modulation, such as OOK, PPM and DPIM. In this paper, the packet error rate(PER) was analyzed above three modulation methods to ground optical link in atmospheric turbulence, scattering and link distance. The OWC system used three wavelengths which are 850nm, 1310nm and 1550nm. I assumed the atmospheric turbulence intensity is weak, so the refractive index is $Cn2{\approx}10-14m-2/3$ and the visibility is 2km. The numerical results shown that the L-DPIM scheme and the wavelength 1550nm are better than other modulation methods and wavelengths.
