Sn0.9957Fe0.01O2의 결정학적 및 자기적 성질에 관한 연구 (Studies on Crystallographic and Magnetic Properties of the Sn0.9957Fe0.01O2)

  • $Sn_{0.99}{^{57}Fe}_{0.01}O_2$ 분말을 졸-겔(sol-gel) 방법으로 제조하였으며, 결정학적 및 자기적 특성을 x-선 회절(x-ray diffractometer), 진동시료 자화율 측정기(vibrating sample magnetometer)과 초전도양자간섭장치(Superconducting quantum interference devices) 및 뫼스바우어 분광기(M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectroscopy)을 이용하여 연구하였다. $Sn_{0.99}{^{57}Fe}_{0.01}O_2$의 경우 rutile tetragonal 결정구조에 공간그룹은 $P4_2$/mnm이며, 5.6 % 정도의 산소결핍 현상이 있음을 Rietveld 정련법으로 분석하였다. 상온에서 자기화 값은 $1.95{\times}10^{-2}{\mu}_B/Fe$을 가지며 상자성과 강자성적 특성을 나타내고 있었으며, 큐리-바이스 온도 ${\theta}_{cw}$= 18 K임을 확인할 수 있었다. 뫼스바우어 측정으로 부터 상온으로부터 극저온(4.2 K)까지 Sextet이 존재하며, 이성질체 이동치의 값은 전 온도구간에서 0.18~0.36 mm/s로서 $^{57}Fe$ 이온은 모두 +3로 존재함을 알 수 있었다. $Sn_{0.99}{^{57}Fe}_{0.01}O_2$의 강자성 특성의 발현은 산소결핍으로 인한 전자를 매개로 하여 이웃하고 있는 $Fe^{3+}$ 이온들이 강자성 결합에 기인하는 것으로 해석할 수 있다.

10 Gb/s 급 광통신용 1.55$\mu$m SI-PBH DFB-LD의 제작 및 특성연구 (Fabrication and characterization of 1.55$\mu$m SI-PBH DFB-LD for 10 Gbps optical fiber communications)

  • 2단계 메사 식각 공정과 유기 금속 화학 증착방법으로 높은 비저항을 갖는 Fe-도핑된 반절연 InP층의 전류 차단층을 갖는 10 Gb/s 광통신용 초고속 1.55.mu.m 궤환형 반도체 레이저 다이오드를 제작하였다. 제작된 DFB-LD의 특성은 발진 임계전류~15 mA, slope efficiency ~0.13 mW/mA, 동 저항 ~6.0.OMEGA.이었고, 발진 파장은 1.546 .mu.m이며, 6 Ith까지의 전류에도 인접 모우드 억압비, SMSR>40dB 이상 (CW상태)으로써 안정된 단일 모우드 동작을 보였다. DFB-LD의 소신호 주파수 특성으로 27 mA의 작은 구동전류에서 이미 -3dB 대역폭이 10 GHz에 도달하였음을 보여주었고, 또한 최대 -3dB 대역폭으로 구동전류 90 mA에서 ~18 GHz까지 얻는 우수한 소신호 주파수 특성을 보여주었다. 10 Gb/s DFB-LD 모듈 전송시험에 있어서, 1.55.mu.m 파장의 레이저 다이오드 모듈로 일반 단일모우드 광섬유와 분산천이 광섬유에 대해서 전송시험한 결과 에러평탄면(error floor)없이 각각 10 km, 80 km를 전송할 수 있었다.

Validation of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms Associated with Carcass Traits in a Commercial Hanwoo Population

  • Four carcass traits, namely carcass weight (CW), eye muscle area (EMA), back fat thickness (BF), and marbling score (MS), are the main price decision parameters used for purchasing Hanwoo beef. The development of DNA markers for these carcass traits for use in a beef management system could result in substantial profit for beef producers in Korea. The objective of this study was to validate the association of highly significant single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) identified in a previous genome-wide association study (GWAS) with the four carcass traits in a commercial Hanwoo population. We genotyped 83 SNPs distributed across all 29 autosomes in 867 steers from a Korean Hanwoo feedlot. Six SNPs, namely ARS-BFGL-NGS-22774 (Chr4, Pos:4889229), ARS-BFGL-NGS-100046 (Chr6, Pos:61917424), ARS-BFGL-NGS-39006 (Chr27, Pos:38059196), ARS-BFGL-NGS-18790 (Chr10, Pos:26489109), ARS-BFGL-NGS-43879 (Chr9, Pos:39964297), and BTB-00775794 (Chr20, Pos:20476265), were found to be associated with CW, EMA, BF, and MS. The ARS-BFGL-NGS-22774, BTB-00775794, and ARS-BFGL-NGS-39006 markers accounted for 1.80%, 1.72%, and 1.35% (p<0.01), respectively, of the phenotypic variance in the commercial Hanwoo population. Many genes located in close proximity to the significant SNPs identified in this study were previously reported to have roles in carcass traits. The results of this study could be useful for marker-assisted selection programs.

Association of MC4R Gene Polymorphisms with Growth and Body Composition Traits in Chicken

  • Genetic and pharmacological studies in mice have demonstrated a complementary role for the melanocortin 4 receptor (MC4R) in the control of food intake, energy balance and body weight. This study was designed to investigate the associations of a MC4R gene polymorphism on chicken growth and body composition traits in broiler lines divergently selected for abdominal fat. A SNP (G54C) was found in CDS region of chicken MC4R gene. The analysis of the least squares and variance revealed a significant association between the G54C SNP and BW, CW and SL at 7 wk of age, and there were significant differences in different genotypes (p<0.05). The results from protein secondary structure prediction and tertiary structure prediction showed that it appeared a helix in $13^{th}$ amino acid and two strands at $14^{th}$ and $15^{th}$ amino acid in mutant protein, respectively. It maybe induce the change of the activity or function of MC4R gene in poultry.

AR Coating에 따른 고출력 반도체 레이저의 특성변화 (Characteristic ependences of High Power Semiconductor Laser on AR Coating)

  • Mirror coating is applied to laser facets to improve properties of edge emitting laser diodes. In this experiment, InGaAsP/GaAs high power laser diodes were studied with respect to different degrees of anti-reflective coating. Sputterred $Al_{2}$O$_{3}$ was used as the coating material and the HR coating was kept constant at 90%. Threshold current density, differential quantum efficiency, emission wavelength and the operating current at 500mW were measured for a range of AR coating and compared with theoretically calculated values; that showed good agreements. Precise wavelength control is important for laser diodes for solid state pumping because of small absorption bandwidth. In addition, since these lasers operate under CW condition, a lowest possible operating current for a given power is desired in order to minimize the heat produced. From the results of this experiment, we were able to obtain a optimum range of AR coatings for minimum operating current. The wavelength can be varied up to 4nm within this range.

Characterization and Corrosion Behaviour of Zn-Sn Binary Alloy Coatings in 0.5 M H2SO4 Solution

  • This work examines the characterization and corrosion behaviour of laser alloyed UNSG10150 steel with three different premixed composition Zn-Sn binary powders using a 4.4 kW continuous wave (CW) Rofin Sinar Nd:YAG laser processing system. The steel alloyed samples were cut to corrosion coupons, immersed in sulphuric acid (0.5 M H2SO4) solution at 30℃ using electrochemical technique and investigated for its corrosion behaviour. The morphologies and microstructures of the developed coated and uncoated samples were characterized by Optic Nikon Optical microscope (OPM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM/EDS). Moreover, X-ray diffractometer (XRD) was used to identify the phases present. An enhancement of 2.7-times the hardness of the steel substrate was achieved in sample A1 which may be attributed to the fine microstructure, dislocations and the high degree of saturation of solid solution brought by the high scanning speed. At scanning speed of 0.8 m/min, sample A1 exhibited the highest polarization resistance Rp (1081678 Ωcm2 ), lowest corrosion current density icorr (4.81×10−8A/cm2 ), and lowest corrosion rate Cr (0.0005 mm/year) in 0.5 M H2SO4. The polarization resistance Rp (1081678 Ωcm2 ) is 67,813-times the polarization of the UNSG10150 substrate and 99.9972% reduction in the corrosion rate.

Functional Characterization of Drosophila melanogaster CYP6A8 Fatty Acid Hydroxylase

  • Genomic analysis indicated that the genome of Drosophila melanogaster contains more than 80 cytochrome P450 genes. To date, the enzymatic activity of these P450s has not been extensively studied. Here, the biochemical properties of CYP6A8 were characterized. CYP6A8 was cloned into the pCW vector, and its recombinant enzyme was expressed in Escherichia coli and purified using Ni2+-nitrilotriacetate affinity chromatography. Its expression level was approximately 130 nmol per liter of culture. Purified CYP6A8 exhibited a low-spin state in the absolute spectra of the ferric forms. Binding titration analysis indicated that lauric acid and capric acid produced type I spectral changes, with Kd values 28 ± 4 and 144 ± 20 µM, respectively. Ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis showed that the oxidation reaction of lauric acid produced (ω-1)-hydroxylated lauric acid as a major product and ω-hydroxy-lauric acid as a minor product. Steady-state kinetic analysis of lauric acid hydroxylation yielded a kcat value of 0.038 ± 0.002 min-1 and a Km value of 10 ± 2 µM. In addition, capric acid hydroxylation of CYP6A8 yielded kinetic parameters with a kcat value of 0.135 ± 0.007 min-1 and a Km value of 21 ± 4 µM. Because of the importance of various lipids as carbon sources, the metabolic analysis of fatty acids using CYP6A8 in this study can provide an understanding of the biochemical roles of P450 enzymes in many insects, including Drosophila melanogaster.

Slot형 구리 이온 레이저 (Slotted type copper ion laser)

  • Slot형의 구리 이온 레이저를 제작하여, 780 nm 레이저 동작을 위한 장치구조의 안정성과 특성을 조사했다. 구리 이온 레이저의 최대 출력을 다양한 동작조건 범위에서 측정했다. IR-레이저의 출력은 음극의 기하학적 구조, 방전전압, 그리고 기체압력에 주로 의존했다. 네온의 부분압력이 60%에 이르면 출력이 감소하였으며, 그 이유 중에 하나는 높은 레이저 준위의 Population이 감소했기 때문이다. 파장 780 nm는 레이저 전이가 구리 이온의 5p 준위에서 일어난다. 통형음극을 사용하는 본 실험의 레이저 장치는 헬륨과 네온 흡합기체 방전에서 동작되고, 100시간 동안의 방전시간 후에 출력감소가 35%이었다(활성길이 9.6cm에 대한 출력은 2.8 mW).

  • Laser surface hardening is beneficially used for surface treatment of structural steel. Due to very rapid heating and cooling rates, structural low-alloy steel(SCM4) can be hardened as self quenching. The aim of this research project is to improve the influence of the process laser parameters: laser power, spot size, surface roughness, and traverse speed. The laser beam is allowed to scan on the surface of the workpiece at the constant power(1095W), varying the traverse speed at 0.3m/min, 0.5m/min and 0.8m/min. The optical lens with the elliptical profile is designed to obtain a wide surface hardening area with uniform hardness. From the results of the experiment, it has been shown that the stable hardness is about 600$\sim$700Hv, when the laser power, focal position and the traverse speed are P=1095W, z=0mm and v=0.3m/min.

토종 순종계를 이용한 토종닭 생산 및 생산성 연구 (The Study on Production and Performance of Crossbred Korean Native Chickens (KNC))

  • 본 시험은 토종닭의 교배 조합이 생산성과 도체율에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 수행되었다. 공시계는 4개 교배 조합으로 발생된 3원 교잡종 초생추를 이용하였다. 시험 설계는 재래계와 육용계의 교배 조합에 의해 부화된 4계통을 각각 A(CS$\times$H), B(CH$\times$S), C(RS$\times$H), D(LH$\times$B)로 하고 암수를 구분하였으며, 계통과 성별에 따라 각각 10수씩 9반복으로 총 90수를 완전 임의 배치하였다. 시험사료는 한국가금사양표준 (2007)에서 제시한 옥수수-대두박 위주의 준육용계 사료를 육계 초기(CP 20.0%, ME 3,050 kcal/kg), 전기(CP 18.0%, ME 3,100 kcal/kg) 및 후기 사료(CP 16.0%, ME 3,150 kcal/kg)로 나누고, 자체 제작하여 공시하였다. 체중과 섭취량은 매주 측정하였고, 도체율은 각각, 5주령과 10주령에 조사하였다. 체중의 경우, 5주령까지는 유의적인 차이가 없었으나, 5주령 이후부터는 D계통에서 체중이 높게 나타났다(P<0.05). 증체량과 사료 섭취량은 체중과 함께 D계통이 5주령 이후로 가장 높았으며(P<0.05), 전 기간 동안의 증체량과 사료 섭취량도 D계통이 다른 계통에 비해 높았고(P<0.05), 사료 요구율도 D계통에서 가장 낮았다. 체중, 증체량, 사료 섭취량 및 사료 요구율은 D계통을 제외한 다른 계통 사이에서 차이가 없었다(P>0.05). 생체중, 도체중 및 도체율은 5주령에는 계통간 차이가 없었으나, 10주령에는 D계통이 가장 높게 나타났다(P<0.05). 이런 결과들은 한국토종닭 교잡종의 생산성적에 대한 기초적인 자료로서 이용될 것이라 사료된다.
