Multi-objective optimization using a two-leveled symbiotic evolutionary algorithm (2 계층 공생 진화알고리듬을 이용한 다목적 최적화)

  • This paper deals with multi-objective optimization problem of finding a set of well-distributed solutions close to the true Pareto optimal solutions. In this paper, we present a two-leveled symbiotic evolutionary algorithm to efficiently solve the problem. Most of the existing multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) operate one population that consists of individuals representing the complete solution to the problem. The proposed algorithm maintains several populations, each of which represents a partial solution to the entire problem, and has a structure with two levels. The parallel search and the structure are intended to improve the capability of searching diverse and good solutions. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with those of the existing algorithms in terms of convergence and diversity. The experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper presents an iterative linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach to the design of a static output feedback (SOF) stabilization controller. A linear penalty function is incorporated into the objective function for the non-convex rank constraint so that minimizing the penalized objective function subject to LMIs amounts to a convex optimization problem. Hence, the overall procedure results in solving a series of semidefinite programs (SDPs). With an increasing sequence of the penalty parameter, the solution of the penalized optimization problem moves towards the feasible region of the original non-convex problem. The proposed algorithm is, therefore, convergent. Extensive numerical experiments are Deformed to illustrate the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper proposes an optimization technique using Genetic Algorithm(GA) for service restoration in the distribution system. Restoration planning problem can be treated as a combinatorial optimization problem. So GA is appropriate to solve the service restoration problem in the distribution network. But searching capabilities of the GA can be enhanced by developing relevant repairing operation and modifying GA operations. In this paper, we aimed at finding appropriate open sectionalizing switch position for the restoration of distribution networks after disturbances using enhanced GA with repairing operation and modified mutation. Simulation results show that proposed method found the open sectionalizing switches with less out of service area and minimize transmission line losses and voltage drop.

  • In this paper, we consider the synthesis of mixed H$_{2}$/H$_{\infty}$ controllers such that the closed-loop poles are located in a specified region in the complex plane. Using solution to a generalized Riccati equation and a change of variable technique, it is shown that this synthesis problem can be reduced to a convex optimization problem over a bounded subset of matrices. This convex programming can be further reduced to Generalized Eigenvalue Minimization Problem where Interior Point method has been recently developed to efficiently solve this problem..

  • Mixed H$_{2}$/H$_{\infty}$ robust control synthesis is considered for finite dimensional linear time-invariant systems under the presence of diagonal structured uncertainties. Such uncertainties arise for instance when there is real perturbation in the nominal model of the state space system or when modeling multiple (unstructured) uncertainty at different locations in the feedback loop. This synthesis problem is reduced to convex optimization problem over a bounded subset of matrices as well as diagonal matrix having certain structure. For computational purpose, this convex optimization problem is further reduced into Generalized Eigenvalue Minimization Problem where a powerful algorithm based on interior point method has been recently developed..

  • This paper considers a problem of optimizing torch paths to cut stock plates nested with open contours. For each contour, one of the two ending points is to be selected as a starting point of cutting with the other being the exit point. A torch path is composed of a single depot and a series of starting and ending points of contours to be cut. The torch path optimization problem is shown to be formulated as an extended version of the standard travelling salesman problem. To solve the problem, a hybrid genetic algorithm with the local search of torch paths is proposed. The genetic algorithm is tested for hypothetical problems whose optimal solutions are known in advance due to the special structure of them. The computational results show that the algorithm generates very near optimal solutions for most cases of the test problems, which verifies the validity of the algorithms.

  • Job shop scheduling is well-known as one of the hardest combinatorial optimization problems and has been demonstrated to be NP-hard problem. In the past decades, several researchers have devoted their effort to develop evolutionary algorithms such as Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for job shop scheduling problem. Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm is a more recent evolutionary algorithm which has been widely applied and shown its strength in many application areas. However, the applications of DE on scheduling problems are still limited. This paper proposes a one-stage differential evolution algorithm (1ST-DE) for job shop scheduling problem. The proposed algorithm employs random key representation and permutation of m-job repetition to generate active schedules. The performance of proposed method is evaluated on a set of benchmark problems and compared with results from an existing PSO algorithm. The numerical results demonstrated that the proposed algorithm is able to provide good solutions especially for the large size problems with relatively fast computing time.

  • This paper deals with the design of a fixed-structure $H_\infty$ power system stabilizer (PSS) by using an iterative linear matrix inequality (LMI) method. The fixed-structure $H_\infty$ controller is represented in terms of LMIs with a rank condition. To solve the non-convex rank-constrained LMI problem, a linear penalty function is incorporated into the objective function so that minimizing the penalized objective function subject to LMIs amounts to a convex optimization problem.   • This paper presents a HNN(Hopfield Neural Network) model to solve the ORP(Optimal Routing Problem) in DSP(Distribution System Planning). This problem is generally formulated as a combinatorial optimization problem with various equality and inequality constraints. Precedent study[3] considered only fixed cert, but in this paper, we proposed the capability of optimization by fixed cost and variable cost. And suggested the corrected formulation of energy function for improving the characteristics of convergence. The proposed algorithm has been evaluated through the sample distribution planning problem and the simmulation results are presented.

  • The timetabling problem is a one of the optimization problem for satisfied a constraints. Most optimization algorithm arrives optimal to use a method that is make a initial solution and modify and reconstruct it repetitively. In case of insufficient resources, it is not easy to obtain initial solution oneself. The most method of make a initial solution is high constrained subject assign first. The freedom rate is a numerical value of degree of how much constrained. In this paper, we define the freedom rate in timetabling problem and experiment its role in timetabling process.
