능동방음벽 시스템에서의 제어음원 위치에 관한 고찰 (Optimal Transducer Positions of an Active Noise Control System with an Opening in an Enclosure)

  • Active control techniques have been used in wide areas of noise and nitration control engineering and a noise barrier is one of them. Omoto's work in 1993 would be one of the fundamental and systematic studies on the actively controlled noise barrier, in which he used equal number of control sources and error sensors. The error sensors were placed uniformly along the top edge of the noise barrier with equal distance apart and the control sources were placed in the exactly same way some distance apart from the error sensors. Since then, a couple of studies were made on the secondary sources'arrangement rather than the optimality of secondary source positions. Shao's results showed that arc shaped arrangement for secondary sources is better than the straight line one, and later work of Yang showed that the more important factor is the average distance between the primary source and secondary sources. However, since these studies were all executed with a simple uniform distribution of the secondary sources along the straight line or arc, it is difficult to conclude which arrangement is superior In order for the fare comparison. the optimality of the source positions in each arrangement must be given in prior. The primary goal of this study is focused on this aspect and some major factors were investigated and compared. The computer simulation results showed that the arc shaped arrangement is marginally better than the straight line one, and more importantly slightly tuned position can greatly improve the performance of the control system.

환경정책수단의 최적성에 대한 이론적 검토 (A Theoretical Study on the Optimal Environmental Policy Instruments)

  • 본 연구는 Uzawa(1965)-Lucas(1988) 유형의 내생적 경제성장모형에 환경변수를 도입하여 개발한 이론적 모형을 사용하여 시장경제에서 어떠한 환경정책수단이 사회 최적을 실현할 수 있는지의 여부를 시험하였다. 대부분의 기존연구에서는 환경정책수단의 효과성을 평가함에 있어서 비용효율성(cost efficiency)에 초점을 맞추고 있는 반면, 본 연구는 거시경제학에서 사용되는 정교한 경제성장모형을 이용하여 최적성(optimality)을 연구한다는 데 기존연구와 가장 큰 차이점이 있다고 할 수 있다. 일반균형분석을 통해 환경정책수단의 최적성에 대해 검토한 결과, 정태모형에서는 차이가 없지만 동태모형에서 환경세, 배출거래권제도 등의 경제적 유인수단은 사회 최적을 실현하지만, 특정 형태의 직접규제는 사회최적을 이룰 수 없음을 보여주고 있다. 그 이유는 환경세나 배출거래권제도는 환경의 질에 대하여 독립된 시장가격을 부여함으로써 물적자본과 인적자본의 배분에 영향을 미치는 반면, 직접규제는 환경의 질에 대한 시장가격을 반영하지 않아 자본의 가치가 왜곡되기 때문인 것으로 나타났다.

ANALYSIS OF VELOCITY-FLUX FIRST-ORDER SYSTEM LEAST-SQUARES PRINCIPLES FOR THE OPTIMAL CONTROL PROBLEMS FOR THE NAVIER-STOKES EQUATIONS

  • This paper develops a least-squares approach to the solution of the optimal control problem for the Navier-Stokes equations. We recast the optimality system as a first-order system by introducing velocity-flux variables and associated curl and trace equations. We show that a least-squares principle based on $L^2$ norms applied to this system yields optimal discretization error estimates in the $H^1$ norm in each variable.

PREVIEW CONTROL FOR EDGE-FOLLOWING USING ROBOT FORCE CONTROL

  • This paper resents a discrete-time model of an edge-following with accommodation force control. Since an irregular workpiece shape causes disturbances to the system while following an edge, the use of preview control is proposed to improve the system performance. The preview control employs future information of the workpiece contour shape, and it can be developed by LQ-optimal control principles. This study provides a general method how to utilize the local future information obtained by the finite preview to minimize an optimality criterion evaluated over a problem duration. The force controller is designed based on the preview control scheme, and then implemented on a VME-based computer. Experimental results using an industrial robot show that the preview control system achieves faster tracking speed and better force regulation than the conventional nonpreview control system.

일반화 최소분산법을 기초로 한 예측 제어기 (A Predictive Controller Based on the Generalized Minimum Variance Approach)

  • This paper presents a class of discrete adaptive controller that can be applied to a plant without sufficient a priori information. It is well known that the GMV(Generalized Minmum Variance) contrlller performs satisfactorily if the plant time delay is known. By introducing the long-range prediction into the GMV controller, robustness to the time delay can be improved, although optimality is lost. Such an idea motivates a predictive control system to be proposed here, where the system minimizes multi-stage cost via the GMV approach. Moreover, the detuning control weight is determined by an on-line tuning method. It is shown that robustness, computational efficiency, and performance of the resulting control system are improved as compared with those of the GPC(Generalized Predictive Control)system.

Precopulatory Mate Guarding, Mating System and Pairing Parental Care in Hyale rubra (Peracarida; Amphipoda; Gammaridae)

  • Mating behaviour of the gammarid amphipod, Hyale rubra, was observed. H. rubra displayed precopulatory mate guarding: males clasped females with their gnathopods during copulation, forming a pair. Males also participated in embryo care during the incubation period. The population was small, and the sex ratio was almost equal. Energy allocation for mating effort and parental effort in the two sexes appear to be almost equal. The mating system was sequentially polygamous (or promiscuous) and there was conspicuous sexual dimorphism in the size of the gnathopod, which was used for mate guarding. However, there appears to be relatively weak sexual competition for mating opportunities despite conspicuous sexual dimorphism. H. rubra did not display territorial competition or external fertilization. Nevertheless, the male provided paternal care. Since H. rubra inhabit tide pools and live on algae, the polygamous mating system of the species can be explained by the polygyny threshold model. The evolution of mate guarding and parental care may have been favored by the species' low population density and harsh environments, an interpretation consistent with the optimality model.

  • We consider a step-stress life testing which is devised for a two-component parallel system with considerably long life time. To describe such a system, we use an exponential distribution as the survival function. The lift distribution is assumed between the log mean life time and the stress with the cumulative exposure model. The criterion for optimality is to minimize the sum of the variances of the maximum likelihood estimators of the mean life times of each part under the normal stress.

  • In this paper, we consider the periodic preventive maintenance model for a repairable system following the expiration of extended warranty under replacement-repair warranty. Under the replacement-repair warranty, the failed system is replaced or minimally repaired by the manufacturer at no cost to the user. Also, under extended warranty, the failed system is minimally repaired by the manufacturer at no cost to the user during the original extended warranty period. As a criterion of the optimality, we utilize the expected cost rate per unit time during the life cycle from the user's perspective. And then we determine the optimal preventive maintenance period and the optimal preventive maintenance number by minimizing the expected cost rate per unit time. Finally, the optimal periodic preventive maintenance policy is given for Weibull distribution case.

  • We introduce a new stable feedback controller eventually converges to a conventional SDRE(State Dependent Riccati Equation) based optimal (suboptimal) controller. On conventional SDRE, the optimal control input should be obtained by backward integration of the SDRE at each control point. The proposed controller is given by direct forward integration of a proposed SDRE. This fact enables fast computation and easy implementation. On concerning a state dependent system, the proposed controller may be a candidate to the conventional SDRE based optimal controller if the system is slow varying with states. Though the controller is fast and easy to implement it is not able to cope with a fast varying system.   • 동일한 부하조건에서 발전기 출력을 적절히 분담하여 발전 연료비를 절감하는 일은 계통운용상 매우 중요하다. 본 논문은 최적화 기법을 이용하여 구한 발전기의 손실감도를, 기존의 유무효전력 최적조건식에 대입하여, 연료비를 최소화하기 위한 최적 발전력 배분을 구하는 방법을 제안한다. 간단한 모형 시스템을 예로 들어 제시한 방법의 적용 결과를 도시한다.
