해저케이블 작업에서의 KP와 XTE 구현을 위한 최적화 알고리즘 (Optimization Algorithm for KP and XTE Implementation on the Submarine Cable Work)

  • 해저 광케이블 공사는 해양조사, PLGR(Pre Lay Grapnel Run), 천해부공사, 포설/매설 순서로 이루어진다. PLGR은 해저 광케이블 매설전에 루트상의 해양 오염물(로프, 와이어, 그물, 어망 등)을 사전에 제거하는 작업이다. 이러한 PLGR은 케이블의 해저면 안착을 용이하게 하고, Plough 및 ROV(Remotely-Operated Vehicle) 매설작업의 성능을 향상시키며, 매설장비를 보호하기 위한 작업이다. 본 논문은 해양조사, PLGR 작업을 효율적으로 관리하기 위한 항해 누적 거리(KP Kilometer Post)와 경로 이탈 오차(XTE : Cross Track Error)의 최적화 알고리즘 구현에 대해서 논한다. 본 논문에서는 이를 위하여 전체적인 PLGR 작업을 구성하고, 항해 누적 거리와 경로 이탈 오차의 최적화 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 그리고 현재 진행중인 PLGR 작업의 일부 루트를 따라서 KP와 XTE 결정 알고리즘을 실험하였다.

평면형 병렬 케이블 구동 로봇에 대한 형상보정 (Calibration for a Planar Cable-Driven Parallel Robot)

  • This paper proposes a calibration algorithm for a three-degree-of-freedom (DOF) planar cable-driven parallel robot (CDPR). To evaluate the proposed algorithm, we calibrated winches and an optical tracking sensor, measured the end-effector pose using the optical tracking sensor, and calculated the accurate robot configuration using the measurement information. To conduct an accuracy test on the end-effector pose, we followed guidelines from "Manipulating industrial robots - Performance criteria and related test methods." Through the test, it is verified that the position accuracy can be improved by up to 20% for a $2m{\times}2m$-sized planar cable robot using the proposed calibration algorithm.

  • In the electric power industry, it is important that the supply of energy must be guaranteed. Many power utilities control and supervise the transmission line to avoid power failures. In case of underground tunnel, some troubles are reported in cable joint. To stabilize the power, it is needed to monitor the cable joint. Many researches of cable joint monitoring have been going on by partial discharge measurement and temperature measurement using optical cable. These methods need much cost to install and maintain, so it is only used in critical transmission line. In this research, we use wireless sensor technology, because of its low cost and easy installation. We develop the temperature monitoring system for cable joint. Temperature sensor is installed on the surface of cable joint and sends data to server through router node using wireless network. Generally Ad hoc routing is searched in wireless network. However, in this research, we design the static linear routing mechanism, which is suitable for electric power line monitoring and analyze the life time of the sensor node by measuring the amount of the battery consumption.

  • We report on comparative results obtained from harmonically mode-locked laser operations of ring-type and figure-of-eight(F8) type erbium-doped fiber lasers by using a directional-coupler type electro-optic modulator as an active mode-locker. The mode-locked and transform-limited pulses of 10.6 ps width were obtained at harmonics of the fundamental cavity frequency with the F8 type laser while mode-locked laser pulses greater than 15 ps were achieved with the ring type laser.

동북아시아에 있어서의 해저 광케이블 구성 전략

  • 해저 광섬유 케이블 링크는 저손실 광섬유의발달과 광대역 데이터 전송 능력 때문에 많은 국가 및 대륙에서 주요 전송 매체가 되고 있다. 미국 및 일본은 북동아시아 지역의 국제 해저 광케이블 링크 전실을 적극 추진하고 있다. 그러나 이 링크는 한국에 연결되어 있지 않아서 한국은 국제 통신망에서 고립되게 되었다. 따라서 이 논문은 적은 투자로서 한국이 북동아시아 지역의 HUB-Station이 되도록 할 수 있는 해저 광케이블 링크 전략을 나타낸다.

  • Fiber optics provide a solution to the problems at interference, capacity and reliability in communication. Approximately 20 kilometera of a six-fiber, multimode, longwave($1.3{\mu}m$), graded index silica glass fiber optic cable was helically wrapped around a phase conductor at a Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO) 154KV transmission line. This paper presents an economic comparison of several fiber optic cable installation alternative and discusses the characteristics at the helically wrapped fiber cable, as well as the entire installation, including high voltage phase-to-ground (PTG) end termination, and splicing. The fiber link was installed for the field trial and practical use with overhead composite optical fiber cable which installation performed a few years earlier some other location and is intended to accommodate not only telephone but also supervisory Control and Data Acquisition(SCADA), protective relaying, and telemetry functions.

해저광케이블 수리를 위한 효율적인 탐지 및 측정 기법 (Efficient Test Techniques for Submarine Cable Repair)

  • 해저광케이블은 국제통신의 98% 이상을 처리하고 있는 국가의 중요한 정보통신 인프라이다. 하지만 선박의 닻, 어선의 어구, 해저 지진 등 다양한 요인으로 인해 고장이 발생하며, 고장 발생시 대용량 해저통신 트래픽의 영향을 최소화하고, 케이블 수리 선박의 운영비용 절감을 위해서 수리 기간을 최대한 단축해야 한다. 해저광케이블 고장 유형은 Shunt Fault, Cable Cut, Open Fault, Fiber Break 등 여러 유형이 있으며, 고장이 발생하면 육상 터미널 국사(육양국)에서 정확하고 신속하게 고장 유형 및 고장 지점을 파악하고, 케이블 수리 선박은 수리 현장으로 출동하여 수리 작업을 수행하게 된다. 수리작업 기간 중 육양국에서는 케이블 수리 선박에서 요청하는 각종 Test를 수행하게 되며, 이때 육양국 Test 기법은 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 해저광케이블 고장 유형 및 고장 지점 탐지 기법을 제시하고, 해저광케이블 수리기간 단축을 위한 육양국 Test 기법을 고찰하고자 한다.

  • Due to large demand for high speed and great capacity for data transfer, WDM, which uses the wavelength division multiplexing technique, is known as alternative way to satisfy those demand for its flexible network operation and management, easy network expansion with existing networks, and enhancement of efficient data transfer rate. For these reasons, a new high capacity WDM optical communication network plan was established. Therefore, the quality of currently deployed optical cables with 81.6 km in length should be assessed to ensure if high capacity WDM system could be implemented on existing optical cables. Two important characteristic parameters, Transfer Loss and PMD (Polarization Mode Dispersion), were measured to evaluate quality of existing optical cable. Transfer Loss was measured at 0.244 dB per kilometer, which is lower than the design standard value at 0.275 dB/km. The measured PMD value gave at 0.030ps/km, and it, therefore, satisfies the value recommended by ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union-T) of 0.5ps/km. In addition, the transfer characteristic for existing 2.5 Gbps and 10 Gbps system were measured and evaluated, and the results showed that error-free transfer is very much feasible. Computer simulation for DWDM system, which is likely be a future backbone network in Korea, to assess the transfer characteristic using the same condition employed for 2.5 Gbps and 10 Gbps was carried out as well. The simulation verified that a stable network operation and reliable service could be provided.

예인 음탐기용 케이블 개발 (Development of Cable for Towed Array Sonar System)

  • Cables for Towed Array Sonar System(TASS) were developed. In order to verify the performance of cables, environmental and operational conditions as well as functional requirements were investigated during design stage. Double armored high and low voltage integrated cable for towed body and two kinds of cables, armored and light weight power and optic hybrid cables for towed array sensor system were developed by modeling and simulation. Customized manufacturing process and test method, such as foam extrusion and dynamic fatigue test were applied to this development. In conclusion, underwater towed hybrid cable with high tensile strength and compact structure were developed.
