Nanoscopic emission from periodic nano-hole arrays in thick metal films is studied experimentally. The experiments give direct evidence for SP excitations in such structures. We show that the symmetry of the emission is governed by polarization and its shape is defined the interference of SP waves of different diffraction orders. Near-Held pattern analysis combined with the far-Held reflection and transmission measurements suggests that the SP eigenmodes of these arrays may be understood as those of ionic plasmon molecules.
Two dimensional (2D) arrays of noble metal nanoparticles are widely used in the sensing of nanoscale biological and chemical events. Research in this area has sparked considerable interest in many fields owing to the novel optical properties, e.g., the localized surface plasmon resonance, of these metallic nanoarrays. In this paper, we report successes in fabricating 2D arrays of gold nano-islands using nanosphere lithography. The reproducibility and the effectiveness of the nano-patterning method are tested by means of spin coating and capillary force deposition. We found that the capillary force deposition method was more effective for nanospheres with diameters greater than 600 nm, whereas the spin coating method works better for nanospheres with diameters less than 600 nm. The optimal deposition parameters for both methods were reported, showing about 80% reproducibility. In addition, we characterize gold nano-island arrays both geometrically with AFM as well as optically with UV-VIS spectrometry. The AFM images revealed that the obtained nano-arrays formed a hexagonal pattern of truncated tetrahedron nano-islands. The experimental and theoretical values of the geometric parameters were compared. The 2D gold nano-arrays showed strong LSPR in the absorption spectra. As the nano-islands increased in size, the LSPR absorption bands became red-shifted. Linear dependence of the plasmon absorption maximum on the size of the gold nano-islands was identified through the increment in the plasmon absorption maximum rate for a one nanometer increase in the characteristic length of the nano-islands. We found that the 2D gold nano-arrays showed nearly seven-fold higher sensitivity of the absorption spectrum to the size of the nano-islands as compared to colloidal gold nano-particles.

We have developed novel lanthanide-cored supramolecular systems with highly efficient light-harvesting dendritic arrays for integrated planar waveguide-typed amplifiers. Er$^{3+}$ ions were encapsulated by the supramolecular ligands, such as porphyrins and macrobicyclics. The supramolecular ligands have been designed and synthesized to provide enough coordination sites for the formation of stable Er(III)-chelated complexes. For getting a higher optical amplification gain, also, the energy levels of the supramolecular ligands were tailored to maintain the effective energy transfer process from supramolecular ligands to erbium(III) ions. Furthermore, to maximize the light-harvesting effect, new aryl ether-functionalized dendrons as photon antennas have been incorporated into lanthanide-cored supramolecular systems. In this paper, molecular design, synthesis and luminescent properties of novel lanthanide-cored integrated supramolecular systems with highly efficient light-harvesting dendritic arrays will be discussed.d.
LED arrays with pixel numbers of $3{\times}3$, $4{\times}4$, and $5{\times}5$ have been studied in this paper in order to enhance the optical output power and decrease heat dissipation of an AlGaInP-based light emitting diode display device (pixel size of $280{\times}280{\mu}m$) fabricated by micro-opto-electro-mechanical systems. Simulation results showed that the thermal resistances of the $3{\times}3$, $4{\times}4$, $5{\times}5$ arrays were $52^{\circ}C/W$, $69.7^{\circ}C/W$, and $84.3^{\circ}C/W$. The junction temperature was calculated by the peak wavelength shift method, which showed that the maximum value appears at the center pixel due to thermal crosstalk from neighboring pixels. The central temperature would be minimized with $40{\mu}m$ pixel pitch and $150{\mu}m$ substrate thickness as calculated by thermal modeling using finite element analysis. The modeling can be used to optimize parameters of highly integrated AlGaInP-based LED arrays fabricated by micro-opto-electro-mechanical systems technology.

This paper is to develop jumping ring system with three sensor arrays and to control levitated ring using dynamic neural mode. Placing an aluminum ring on the core and switching on an AC source causes the ring to jump in the air due to induced currents. The educational system is composed of 40th optical sensor array, encode circuit, 89C51 microprocessor and control board. The control board consists of power IC, and phase controller. Real time process is present to obtain a height of levitated ring for three different sensor arrays. Based on the educational system and the proposed dynamic neural mode, the height of levitation of the ring is controlled by reference signals. This paper focuses on real system controls using the dynamic neural mode with on line learning algorithm.
Silicon nanowires were detached and obtained from silicon nanowire arrays on silicon substrate using a ultrasono-method. Silicon nanowire arrays on silicon substrate were prepared with an electroless metal assisted etching of p-type silicon. The etching solution was an aqueous HF solution containing silver nitrate. SEM observation shows that well-aligned nanowire arrays perpendicular to the surface of the silicon substrate were produced. After sonication of silicon nanowire array, an individual silicon nanowire was confirmed by FESEM. Optical characteristics of SiNWs were measured by FT-IR spectroscopy. The surface of SiNWs are terminated with hydrogen.
Real-time MTF measuring system for testing microlens arrays with a linear CCD array is developed. The spread function of slit image that is relayed and magnified by a microscopic object lens can be measured at several times in a second. The signal uniformity and MTF of CCD is also calibrated. The experimental result of micro lens arrays developed for contact image sensor is presented.sented.

We report a new molecular detection process which measures the changes in the plasmon resonance peaks of periodic Au nanoparticle arrays fabricated using the electron beam lithography. As the Au nanoparticle arrays are modified by the chemical reaction in solutions having various concentrations of a target molecule, both the position and intensity of the plasmon peak change in proportion to the concentration of the target molecule. We expect that the process developed in this work can be employed for fine tuning of the plasmon peak wavelength and also for the optical detection of various kinds of molecules. Moreover, this method may improve the measurement accuracy compared with existing approaches that use only one change (peak wavelength or peak intensity) as a readout value for the molecular detection.
Recently, processor arrays to enhance the banRecently, processor arrays to enhance the bandwidth of buses and to reduce the complexity of hardwares, using optical buses instead of electronic buses, have been proposed in manyliteratures. In this paper, we first propose a constant-time algorithm for parentheses matching problemon a linear array with slotted optical buses (LASOB).Then, given an algebraic expression of length n, we also propose a cost optimal parallel algorithmthat constructs computational tree form in the steps of constant time on LASOB with n processorsby using parentheses matching algorithm. A cost optimal parallel algorithm for this problem that runsin constant time has not yet been known on any parallel computation models.
Some 10$\times$10 micro-lens arrays of a period of 300 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, a thickness of 17 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and a focal length of 2.2 mm are fabricated by exposing a thick layer of photoresist through a grayscale mask via UV proximity printing. The grayscale mask is fabricated in a holographic film by reducing (6.6X) a high-resolution black-and-white film where a grayscale patters of a micro-lens array designed by a computer has been written using a film recorder. The proposed method has the advantage of a low fabrication cost, a fill-factor of almost 100% and the ease of realizing an aspheric lens.
