A study on the Hankel approximation of input delay systems (입력 시간지연 시스템의 한켈 근사화에 관한 연구)

  • This paper studies the problem of computing the Hankel singular values and vectors in the input delay systems. It is shown that the Hankel singular values are solutions to a transcendental equation and the Hankel singular vectors are obtained from the kernel of the matrix. The computation is carried out in state space framework. Finally, Hankel approximation of a simple example shows the usefulness of this study.

Implementation of GA Processor with Multiple Operators, Based on Subpopulation Architecture (분할구조 기반의 다기능 연산 유전자 알고리즘 프로세서의 구현)

  • In this paper, we proposed a hardware-oriented Genetic Algorithm Processor(GAP) based on subpopulation architecture for high-performance convergence and reducing computation time. The proposed architecture was applied to enhancing population diversity for correspondence to premature convergence. In addition, the crossover operator selection and linear ranking subpop selection were newly employed for efficient exploration. As stochastic search space selection through linear ranking and suitable genetic operator selection with respect to the convergence state of each subpopulation was used, the elapsed time of searching optimal solution was shortened. In the experiments, the computation speed was increased by over $10\%$ compared to survival-based GA and Modified-tournament GA. Especially, increased by over $20\%$ in the multi-modal function. The proposed Subpop GA processor was implemented on FPGA device APEX EP20K600EBC652-3 of AGENT 2000 design kit.

  • Situation awareness is defined as a person's perception of the elements of the environment within a volume of time and space, the comprehension of their meaning and the projection of their status in the near future. Situation awareness is important in attempting to evaluate human behavior in operating complex systems such as aircraft, air traffic control, and nuclear power plant systems. From the literatures this study reviews the relationship between situation awareness and numerous individual, system and environmental factors, and also reviews the methodologies for the empirical measurement of situation awareness applicable to Korea Next Generation Reactor (KNGR) design project. Attention, working memory, workload, stress, system complexity, and automation are presented as critical factors limiting operator's situation awareness. Mental models and goal-directed behavior are hypothesized as important mechanisms overcoming these limits. This study summarized hypothesized guidelines for interface design to improve situation awareness of reactor operators. Some of the guidelines should be tested in the KNGR evaluation experiments in the future.

  • There have been numerous risks for excavator operator in working space. To overcome these riske, many researchers have been studied automation of excavator system. In these studies, excavator system is introduced by many researchers based on master-slave force feedback system. In this paper, a remote manipulation excavator is introduced based on force feedback. The proposed remote manipulation excavator system can give a feeling that the operator maneuvers the object directly, resulting in improved reality and efficiency. To demonstrate its performance, experiments are carried out on a test bed which is built around a commercial Hyundai HX-60W hydraulic excavator.

  • This paper discusses a method for pricing the storage of inbound containers in a container yard. The pricing structure is characterized by a free-time-limit and a storage price for the storage time that extends beyond the free-time-limit. A cost model is developed from the viewpoint of a public terminal operator as well as a private terminal operator. Unlike a previous study on this issue, this study assumes that the retrieval times follow a discrete probability distribution, which is more realistic than the previous study. A solution procedure is suggested and illustrated by using numerical examples.

  • At the moment, the operation methods for pad switch are different due to the differences of the manufacturer and the types or ratings of pad switches; accordingly, various types of the operation tools are required for the operation of pad switch. Sometimes, the operator uses conductive tool made of metal, or there is no sufficient space around the pad switch for operation and these kinds of problems are related with the potential safety accidents of the operators. Therefore, to solve these problems, new universal operation tool for pad switch, which only needs the change of operation head for various types of pad switches, has been developed. With this new tool, durability and safety of the operator can be achieve.

  • This paper describes a new iris segmentation and recognition method, which is robust to noises. Combining statistical classification and elastic boundary fitting, the iris is first segmented. Then, the localized iris image is smoothed by a convolution with a Gaussian function, down-sampled by a factor of filtered with a Laplacian operator, and quantized using the Lloyd-Max method. Since the quantized output is sensitive to a small shift of the full-resolution iris image, the outputs of the Laplacian operator are computed for all space shifts. The quantized output with maximum entropy is selected as the final feature representation. An appropriate formulation of similarity measure is defined for the classification of the quantized output. Experimentally we showed that the proposed method produces superb performance in iris segmentation and recognition.

  • We study the long-term dynamics for a family of incompressible three-dimensional Leray-α-like models that employ the spectral fractional Laplacian operators. This family of equations interpolates between incompressible hyperviscous Navier-Stokes equations and the Leray-α model when varying two nonnegative parameters 𝜃1 and 𝜃2. We prove the existence of a finite-dimensional global attractor for the continuous semigroup associated to these models. We also show that an operator which projects the weak solution of Leray-α-like models into a finite-dimensional space is determining if it annihilates the difference of two "nearby" weak solutions asymptotically, and if it satisfies an approximation inequality.

  • In this paper, we introduce two general iterative algorithms (one implicit algorithm and one explicit algorithm) for finding a common element of the solution set of the variational inequality problems for a continuous monotone mapping, the zero point set of a set-valued maximal monotone operator, and the fixed point set of a continuous pseudocontractive mapping in a Hilbert space. Then we establish strong convergence of the proposed iterative algorithms to a common point of three sets, which is a solution of a certain variational inequality. Further, we find the minimum-norm element in common set of three sets.
