A Finite Element Galerkin High Order Filter for the Spherical Limited Area Model

  • Two dimensional finite element method with quadrilateral basis functions was applied to the spherical high order filter on the spherical surface limited area domain. The basis function consists of four shape functions which are defined on separate four grid boxes sharing the same gridpoint. With the basis functions, the first order derivative was expressed as an algebraic equation associated with nine point stencil. As the theory depicts, the convergence rate of the error for the spherical Laplacian operator was found to be fourth order, while it was the second order for the spherical Laplacian operator. The accuracy of the new high order filter was shown to be almost the same as those of Fourier finite element high order filter. The two-dimension finite element high order filter was incorporated in the weather research and forecasting (WRF) model as a hyper viscosity. The effect of the high order filter was compared with the built-in viscosity scheme of the WRF model. It was revealed that the high order filter performed better than the built in viscosity scheme did in providing a sharper cutoff of small scale disturbances without affecting the large scale field. Simulation of the tropical cyclone track and intensity with the high order filter showed a forecast performance comparable to the built in viscosity scheme. However, the predicted amount and spatial distribution of the rainfall for the simulation with the high order filter was closer to the observed values than the case of built in viscosity scheme.

  • The aim of this note is to study some properties of Schrodinger operators, the magnetic case, $H_{0}$ (a)=1/2(-i.del.-a)$^{2}$; H(a)= $H_{0}$ (a)+V, where a=( $a_{1}$,.., $a_{n}$ ).mem. $L^{2}$$_{loc}$ and V is a potential energy. Also, we are interested in solutions, .psi., of H(a).psi.=E.psi. in the sense that (.psi., $e^{-tH}$(a).PSI.)= $e^{-tE}$(.psi.,.PSI.) for all .PSI..mem. $C_{0}$ $^{\infty}$( $R^{n}$ ) (see B. Simon [1]). In section 2, under some conditions, we find that a semibounded quadratic form of H9a) exists and that the Schrodinger operator H(a) with Re V.geq.0 is accretive on a form domain Q( $H_{0}$ (a)). But, it is well-known that the Schrodinger operator H=1/2.DELTA.+V with Re V.geq.0 is accretive on $C_{0}$ $^{\infty}$( $R^{n}$ ) in N Okazawa [4]. In section 3, we want to discuss $L^{p}$ estimates of Schrodinger semigroups.ups.

VTS 교신 분석을 통한 관제사와 선박운항자의 안전거리에 관한 연구-2 (A Study on Safe distance of VTS officer and Ship's operator by VTS Communication analysis-2)

  • 우리나라 항만은 선박의 입 출항 척수 증가와 대형화로 항내 통항 선박간의 혼잡상황이 더욱 증가하고 있다. 해상교통혼잡 여부를 평가하기 위한 지표를 해상교통혼잡도라 하며, 해사안전법의 해상교통안전진단제도에서 진단항목으로 사용 중이다. 진단제도에서는 점용 용역을 8L(장직경)X3.2L(단직경)을 사용하고 있다. 본 연구는 관제사 및 선박운항자의 안전거리를 확인하기 위하여 우리나라 항구 중 가장 많은 선박이 입 출항하는 부산항을 대상으로 하여 7일간 VTS의 교신을 청취하고 관제사와 선박운항자의 교신시점을 구한다. 교신시점의 거리를 이용하여 관제사와 선박운항자의 안전거리를 도출한다. 도출된 안전거리를 이용하여 부산항내와 항외의 관제 안전거리의 기본자료로 이용할 수 있다.

Wavelet-Galerkin Scheme of Inhomogeneous Electromagnetic Problems in the time Domain

  • 본 논문은 시변 맥스웰 방정식에 기초한 웨이브릿-갤러킨 설계를 제안하였다. 두 개의 모멘트 함수가 0 이 되는 Daubechies 웨이브릿 함수를 기저함수로 전개하고 Yee가 제안한 Leap-frog 접근법을 적용하였다. D Daubechies 웨이브릿의 변위된 보간 특성을 이용하여 적분이나 매체 연산자에 대한 부가적인 행렬이 필요없 는 방정식을 유도하였다 안정화 조건을 유도하고 분산특성을 분석한 후 유한차분 시간영역법과 다해상도 시 간영역법의 결과와 비교하였고. 분산특성의 분석을 통해 기저함수의 정규성(Regularity)과 받침폭(Support width) 사이의 균형을 확인했다. 기저함수가 단 2개의 0이 되는 웨이브릿 모멘트 함수를 가지지만. 이는 수치 해석 상에서 무시할 수 있는 분산 오류를 수반하였고, 컴팩트 받침(Compact support)에 의해 노드 당 적은 수의 계수만이 고려되었다. 제안된 설계의 저장계수의 효율, 실행 시간의 감소와 정확도를 균일 공진기와 비 균일 공진기의 공진주파수 해석을 통해 검증하였다.

The random structural response due to a turbulent boundary layer excitation

  • In this paper, the structural random response due to the turbulent boundary layer excitation is investigated. Using the mode shapes and natural frequencies of an undamped structural operator, a fully analytical model has been assembled. The auto and cross-spectral densities of kinematic quantities are so determined through exact analytical expansions. In order to reduce the computational costs associated with the needed number of modes, it has been tested an innovative methodology based on a scaling procedure. In fact, by using a reduced spatial domain and defining accordingly an augmented artificial damping, it is possible to get the same energy response with reduced computational costs. The item to be checked was the power spectral density of the displacement response for a flexural simply supported beam; the very simple structure was selected just to highlight the main characteristics of the technique. In principle, it can be applied successfully to any quantity derived from the modal operators. The criterion and the rule of scaling the domain are also presented, investigated and discussed. The obtained results are encouraging and they allow thinking successfully to the definition of procedure that could represent a bridge between modal and energy methods.

Moderately thermostable phage Φ11 Cro repressor has novel DNA-binding capacity and physicochemical properties

  • The temperate Staphylococcus aureus phage ${\Phi}11$ harbors cI and cro repressor genes similar to those of lambdoid phages. Using extremely pure ${\Phi}11$ Cro (the product of the ${\Phi}11$ cro gene) we demonstrated that this protein possesses a single domain structure, forms dimers in solution at micromolar concentrations and maintains a largely $\alpha$-helical structure even at $45^{\circ}C$. ${\Phi}11$ Cro was sensitive to thermolysin at temperatures ranging from $55-75^{\circ}C$ and began to aggregate at ${\sim}63^{\circ}C$, suggesting that the protein is moderately thermostable. Of the three homologous 15-bp operators (O1, O2, and O3) in the ${\Phi}11$ cI-cro intergenic region, ${\Phi}11$ Cro only binds efficiently to O3, which is located upstream of the cI gene. Our comparative analyses indicate that the DNA binding capacity, secondary structure and dimerization efficiency of thermostable ${\Phi}11$ Cro are distinct from those of P22 Cro and $\lambda$ Cro, the best characterized representatives of the two structurally different Cro families.

에지 영역을 고려한 호모모르픽 웨이브렛 기반 MMSE 필터를 이용한 영상 신호의 스펙클 잡음 제거 (Reduction of Speckle Noise in Images Using Homomorphic Wavelet-Based MMSE Filter with Edge Detection)

  • 본 논문에서는 스펙클 잡음으로 열화 된 영상을 복원하기 위하여 에지 영역을 고려한 호모모르픽 웨이브렛 기반 MMSE 필터를 제안한다. 제안된 방법에서는 스펙클 잡음이 섞인 영상을 로그 영역으로 변환한 다음 호모모르픽 방향성 MMSE 필터로 복원된 영상에 DIP 연산자를 적용하여 각 화소를 평탄 영역과 에지 영역으로 분류한다. 평탄 영역에서는 호모모르픽 웨이브렛 기반 MMSE 필터링을 수행하고 에지 영역에서는 호모모르픽 웨이브렛 기반 MMSE 필터링의 결과와 호모모르픽 방향성 MMSE 필터링의 결과를 가중하여 합하는 가중 평균 필터링을 수행한다. 그런 다음 지수 함수를 이용하여 공간 영역으로 역 변환하여 복원된 영상을 얻는다. 실험 결과 제안된 방법으로 복원된 영상은 기존의 호모모르픽 평균 필터와 메디안 필터에 의하여 복원된 영상에 비하여 3.3-4.0 ㏈의 ISNR 성능 향상을 보였다. 또한 0.0103-0.0126의 에지 보존도 측정 파라미터 $\beta$ 성능 향상을 보이고, 에지가 잘 보존되면서 잡음이 잘 제거된 우수한 주관적 화질을 보였다.

  • Applications of scaled telemanipulation into micro or nano world that shows many different features from directly human interfaced tools have been increased continuously. Here, we have to consider many aspects of scaling such as force, position, and impedance. For instance, what will be the possible range of force and position scaling with a specific level of performance and stability\ulcorner This knowledge of feasible staling region can be critical to human operator safety. In this paper, we show the upper bound of the product of force and position scaling and simulation results of 1DOF scaled system by using the Llewellyn's unconditional stability in continuous and discrete domain showing the effect of sampling rate.

행렬 벡터 연사용 1-차원 시스톨릭 어레이 프로세서를 이용한 그래픽 가속기의 설계 (Design of a Graphic Accelerator uisng 1-Dimensional Systolic Array Processor for Matrix.Vector Opertion)

  • In recent days high perfermance graphic operation is needed, since computer graphics is widely used for computer-aided design and simulator using high resolution graphic card. In this paper a graphic accelerator is designd with the functions of graphic primitives generation and geometrical transformations. 1-D Systolic Array Processor for Matris Vector operation is designed and used in main ALU of a graphic accelerator, since these graphic algorithms have comonon operation of Matris Vector. Conclusively, in case that the resolution of graphic domain is 800$\times$600, and 33.3nsec operator is used in a graphic accelerator, 29732 lines per second and approximately 6244 circles per second is generated.
