미국의 지역사회경찰활동 프로그램 운용 사례 - 캘리포니아주 산마테오 카운티를 중심으로 - (Community Policing Program Operation Case of the U.S.A - Centering Sanmateo County California State -)

  • 근래 범죄예방이 무엇보다 중요한 형사정책의 한 축으로 자리매김 하면서 경찰활동도 기존과 다른 변화를 추구하고 있다. 근세 이후 범죄통제경향의 변화에서도 알 수 있듯, 종국적으로는 범죄예방이 범죄통제의 최선이라는 경험을 바탕으로 경찰의 역할에 대한 새로운 시각의 등장과 더불어 나타난 것이 지역사회 경찰활동이다. 또한 경찰활동에서 강조되는 것은 경찰활동의 다양화 지역사회의 적극적 참여라고 할 수 있다. 우리는 이와 관련하여 국내에서 발간된 "범죄예방론" 등 관련 서적을 통하여 미국의 범죄예방활동과 지역사회경찰활동에서 운용되는 프로그램을 접하고 있다. 그런데 관련 서적에 소개된 프로그램들이 마치 미국 전 지역에서 동일하게 이루어지는 것으로 오해될 소지가 있다. 본 연구에서는 미국 캘리포니아주산마테오 카운티에 속한 도시 가운데 비교 연구가 용이한 두 도시를 선정, 이들 도시에서 발생한 주요 범죄현황을 살펴보고 실제 이루어지고 있는 지역사회경찰활동프로그램 또는 범죄예방프로그램 운용 사례를 살펴보고자 한다.

충진층 반응기에서 고정화 효소에 의한 난황 단백질의 가수분해 (Hydrolysis of Egg Yolk Protein in a Packed Bed Reactor by Immobilized Enzyme)

  • 난황단백질 가수분해를 위한 알칼리성 단백질분해효소를 5가지 담체 Duolite A568, Celite R640, Dowex-1, Dowex 50W 그리고 Silica gel R60 에 고정화하였다. Duolite A568의 경우에 24.7%의 최대 고정화 효율을 나타내었다. 자유 효소와 고정화 효소에 대한 최적의 pH는 각각 8과 9였고, 최적의 pH는 고정화에 의해 염기성으로 1만큼 증가하였다. 그러나 최적 온도는 자유 효소와 고정화 효소 모두 $50^{\circ}C$로 같았다. 고정화 효소가 자유 효소에 비해 높은 열 안정성을 보였다. 재사용 회분식 공정에서 10 cycle 동안 효소활성은 초기 활성의 86%를 유지하였다. 연속 공정을 위한 충진층 반응기에서 여러 유속에 대한 장기 조업에서 효소 활성의 안정성 평가하였는데 낮은 유속일수록 높은 활성을 유지하였다. 연속 조업에서 casein과 난황 단백질을 사용하여 원료에 대한 고정화 효소의 활성에 대한 영향을 조사하였다. 96시간 연속 조업에서 casein의 경우는 초기 활성의 83%를 유지하였고 난황 단백질의 경우는 초기 활성의 61%를 유지하였다.

메탄-산소 혼합가스 조건에서의 페롭스카이트계 산화물의 촉매특성 평가 (Catalytic Characteristics of Perovskite-type Oxides under Mixed Methane and Oxygen Gases)

  • As the single chamber SOFC(SC-SOFC) showed higher prospect on reducing the operation temperature as well as offering higher design flexibility of SOFCs, lots of concerns have been given to investigate the catalytic activity of perovskite-type oxide in mixed fuel and oxidant conditions. Hence we thoroughly investigated the catalytic property of various perovskite-type oxides such as $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}MnO_3(LSM),\;La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}CoO_3(LSC),\;La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{0.2}Fe_{0.8}O_3(LSCF),\;Sm_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_3(SSC),\;and\;Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}Co_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}(BSCF)$ under the partial oxidation condition of methane which used to be given for SC-SOFC operation. In this study, powder form of each perovskite oxides whose surface areas were controlled to be equal, were investigated as functions of methane to oxygen ratios and reactor temperature. XRD, BET and SEM were employed to characterize the crystalline phase, surface area and microstructure of prepared powders before and after the catalytic oxidation. According to the gas phase analysis with flow-through type reactor and gas chromatography system, LSC, SSC, and LSCF showed higher catalytic activity at fairly lower temperature around $400^{\circ}C{\sim}450^{\circ}C$ whereas LSM and BSCF could be activated at much higher temperature above $600^{\circ}C$.

선천성 심장질환아의 수술후 활동제한 기간에 따른 사지근 위축 변화에 관한 연구 (A study on the change of limb muscle atrophy by the period of limited activities following the heart surgery in congenital heart disease children)

  • In order to investigate the effects of a decreased activity on skinfold thickness, circumference and muscle strength of the extremities during the recovery period following heart surgery, skinfold thickness, circumference and muscle strength of the extremities were measured on days 0, 3, 6, and 9 following the surgery, and compared with those on the arrival day of intensive care unit. Skinfold thickness was measured using a skinfold caliper(Saehan Cor., Korea), circumference of the limbs were measured with a tape measure, upper extremity strength was determined using the Takei grip dynamometer and lower extremity strength was measured by pressing the flatfoot on an electronic digital health meter while tying on a bed. Results from this study were thus : 1. Skinfold thickness of triceps, quadriceps and gastrocnemius muscle on days 3, 6, 9 following the heart surgery was not significantly different from that of on the day of operation. 2. Circumference of midupperarm and midthigh on days 3, 6, 9 following the heart surgery was not significantly different from that of on the day of operation. Circumference of midcalf on days 3, 6 following the heart surgery was not significantly different from that of on the day of operation, while that of midcalf on day 9 following the surgery decreased significantly compared with that of on the day of operation. 3. Muscle strength of the upper extremity was not significantly different from that of on the day of operation, while that of the lower extremity on day 9 following the surgery decreased significantly compared with that of on the day of operation. From these results, it may be concluded that circumference and muscle strength of lower extremity can be decreased due to the postoperative inactivity following heart surgery in congenital heart disease children.

2004년 베트남 구순구개열 무료수술 및 10주년 봉사 활동에 관한 보고 (The 2004 Cleft Lip and Palate Charity operation in Vietnam and 10-Year Review)

  • The cleft lip and palate charity operation team visited Binh Duong General Hospital in Vietnam from 17th Dec to 25th Dec 2004. Total 25 cleft lip and palate patients (male : female = 15:10) were undergone the operation. The mean age of the patients was 13.6 year. The types of surgical operation were primary cheilorrhaphy (8 cases), primary palatorrhaphy(10 cases), pharyngoplasty(2 cases), scar revision(3 cases), alveolorrhaphy(2 cases). There were no intraoperative and immediate postoperative complications. The year 2004 was the 10th charity operation in the same area so it is meaningful to review the start of this charity mission and the course, and the future of our activity.

성장기 동안 고칼슘 식이를 섭취한 흰쥐의 골격대사에 난소절제 및 칼슘 섭취 수준이 미치는 영향 (Effect of Ovariectomy and Dietary Calcium Levels on Bone Metabolism in Rats Fed High Calcium Diet during the Growth Period)

  • This study explored the effects of dietary calcium levels and/or ovariectomy on bone formation, bone composition and calcium metabolism using female Sprague-Dawley weanling rats(mean body weight$\pm$SEM : 232.3$\pm$6.7g) as a model. Rats received high(1.5%) calcium diets for eight weeks during the growth period and were randomly assigned to ovariectomy and sham groups. The two groups were than each randomly divided into three sub-groups and fed 0.1%, 0.5% and 1.5% calcium diets for eight weeks after operation. The results indicate that body weight gain was higher in ovariectomy groups than sham groups regardless of dietary calcium levels and food intakes. Serum Ca concentration was decreased in low Ca groups after operation and serum P concentration increased in ovariectomy groups. Serum Ca concentration was decreased in low Ca groups after operation and serum P concentration increased in ovariectomy groups. Serum alkaline phosphatase activity was increased in ovariectomy groups and was not influenced by dietary calcium levels after operation. Urinary hydroxyproline decreased in high Ca intake groups regardless of whether rats had received an ovariectomy or not. The weight, length and breaking force of the femur were not significantly different in all groups. Ash, calcium, phosphate and magnesium contents in the femur and lumbar were not significantly different regardless of ovariectomy operation and dietary calcium levels. But high/normal calcium intake after ovariectomy and sham operation increased the weight and calcium content in bone. Therefore, high calcium intake influenced the formation of peak bone mass during the growth period and calcium levels and calcium levels and calcium levels continued to influence bone growth and composition after ovariectomy.

  • 경제적 성장과 주 5일 근무제 시행에 따라 국민들의 삶의 질 향상과 다양한 삶을 추구하고자 하는 가치관의 형성으로 특히 해양에서의 레저 활동의 참여가 증가하고 있다. 다양한 해양 레저 활동 중에서 스킨스쿠버다이빙의 활동이 상대적으로 가장 높은 비율을 차지하고 있지만, 이와 관련한 제도적 체계는 이를 따르지 못하고 있다. 이에 스킨스쿠버다이빙과 관련한 여러 가지 제도적 체계의 현황을 고찰하여 문제점을 확인하고 개선방안을 도출하고자 한다.

공공도서관 독서마라톤 프로그램이 독서량과 도서관 이용빈도에 미치는 영향 (A Study on the Effect of Readingmaraton Program of Public Library on Reading Volume & Library Use Frequency)

  • 이 연구는 독서와 마라톤을 접목하여 개발 운영한 공공도서관의 독서진흥 프로그램이 독서활동에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위한 것이다. 이 연구를 위하여 문헌연구와 독서진흥 프로그램을 개발 운영하고, 참여자를 대상으로 설문조사와 면담을 실시하였다. 이 연구의 결과, 1) 독서마라톤 프로그램의 만족도가 높은 사람들이 독서량이 증가되고 도서관 이용 빈도가 더 많은 것으로 나타났다. 2) 독서마라톤 참여 이후에 가족들과 책에 관한 대화가 더 많은 것을 알 수 있었다. 독서마라톤 프로그램이 독서활동에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

도시 근교 농촌마을 경제활동의 다양성에 관한 연구: 경기도 양평군 서종면의 사례 (A Study on the Divergence of Economic Activities between Rural Villages in Rural-Urban Ares : The Cases of Two Villages of Seojong-Myeon in Yangpyeong County)

  • The study is a comparative analysis of the differences in economic activities of two rural villages near the city. It is the general notion that rural villages near large cities lose the characteristics of traditional rural villages and change the areas with urban characteristics due to the influence of urbanization. The survey also showed that Munho 4-ri and Jeongbae 1-ri in Gyeonggi-do have urban characteristics, such as population growth, agricultural activity reduction and non-agricultural activity increase, and community activity reduction. However, they also found that there were important differences in the future development patterns of the two villages. In other words, the reasons and purposes of migration of people moving to the two villages, the differences in the system of economic activity in the villages, and the differences in community cooperation are emerging. Therefore, the study shows that policies to develop rural villages near cities need to be implemented differently based on the characteristics of those villages.

Continuous Production of Fructose-Syrups from Inulin by Immobilized Inulinase from Recombinant Saccharomyces cerevisiae

  • Recombinant exoinulinase was partially purified form the culture supernatant of S.cerevisiae by(NH4)2SO4 precipitation and PEG treatment. The purfied inulinase was immobilized onto Amino-cellulofine with glutaraldeyde as a cross-linking agent. Immobilization yield based on the enzyme activity was about 15%. Optimal pH and temperature of immobilized enzyme were found to be 5.0 and 6$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. The enzyme activity was stably maintained in the pH ranges of 4.5 to 6.0 at 6$0^{\circ}C$. 100% of enzyme activity was observed even after incubation for 24 hr at 6$0^{\circ}C$. In the operation of a packed-bed reactor containing 412U inulinase, dahalia inulin of 7.5%(w/w) concentration was completely hydrolyzed at flow rate of 2.0mL/min at 6$0^{\circ}C$, resulting in a volumetric productivity of 693 g-reducing sugars/L/h. Under the reaction conditions of 1.0mL/min flow rate with 2.5% inulin at 6$0^{\circ}C$, the reactor was successfully operated over 30 days without loss ofinulinase activity.
