Online education in the field of LIS has continued to spread out in university curricula or with collaborative online programs through consortia among universities. Unlike the traditional online education, however, MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) with the recent advent and advances have risen as a new paradigm in education of the future in that these are massive online learner-centered courses, free and open to any person with no limit on enrollment. With no exception to this phenomenon, the LIS field centered by overseas iSchool universities has been offering MOOCs for core LIS courses. This research conducted a case study of utilizing a part of overseas LIS MOOCs in a core LIS course at domestic University-A, in order to explore the potential for utilizing overseas MOOCs in LIS education. The results of conducting a survey and a focus group interview to students discovered that MOOCs content was interesting and useful and many of them were willing to take other MOOCs in the future, despite some language barriers. Based on these findings, this study suggested the need for establishing educational value, administering methods, ways to motivate students, and designing MOOCs by incorporating the characteristics of the LIS field, as ways to utilize MOOCs in LIS education.

We expect that the accredited certificate-based open banking, which is actively deployed in recent times, will solve the Galapagosization problem of the existing accredited certificate-based closed banking by supporting standard communication protocol and web compatibility. However, it is questionable how much the open banking will answer the security and usability problems of the existing closed banking. This paper is focused on analyzing the differences between the existing closed banking and the open banking, and then evaluates how much the security and usability problems of the existing closed banking are resolved by the open banking. The study firstly analyzes the security vulnerabilities raised in the process of providing closed banking services for the past 15 years or more, the countermeasures applied to enhance security, and the convenience impact of countermeasures. And then, the security and convenience of the open banking is inferred by analyzing the implementation difference between the closed banking and the open banking. The paper also briefly discusses how to improve the open banking to resolve the remaining problems of the open banking.

Teachers use explanations to communicate important scientific ideas to students. Consequently, all biology teachers should be evaluated to determine how effective they are at constructing and communicating biological explanations. Open response questions are required to detect pre-service biology teachers' abilities to communicate robust and accurate scientific explanations. Nevertheless, multiple-choice questions are typically preferred by educators because of the common drawbacks of using open-response instruments, such as scoring time, inter-rater scoring disagreements, and delayed feedback to test takers. This study aims to measure pre-service biology teachers' competence in building scientific explanations and to investigate how accurately multiple-choice questions predict the results of open-response questions. One hundred twenty four pre-service biology teachers participated in the study and were administered 20 multiple-choice items and three open-response items designed to measure the accuracy and quality of their explanations of evolutionary change. The results demonstrated that pre-service teachers displayed higher competence when tested with multiple choice items than when tested with open response items. Moreover, scores derived from multiple-choice items poorly predicted the scores derived from open-response items. Multiple-choice items were also found to be poor measures of the consistency, purity and abundance of conceptual elements in teachers' evolutionary explanations. Additionally, many teachers held mixed-models composed of both scientific and naive ideas, which were difficult to detect using multiple-choice formats. Overall, the study indicates that multiple-choice formats are poorly suited to measuring several aspects of biology teachers' knowledge of evolution, including their ability to generate scientific explanations. This study suggests that open-response items should be used in teacher education programs to assess pre-service teachers' explanatory competency prior to being permitted to teach science to children.

We have conducted UBVI CCD photometry of an intermediate-age open cluster NGC 559 to investigate the effect of dynamical evolution on the stellar distributions in NGC 559. Our photometry allows better estimates of distance and age of the cluster owing to much deeper photometry (V $\le$ 21) than previous ones. It is found that the luminosity function and mass function as well as the spatial stellar distributions are affected by the dynamical evolution. Mass segregation leads to the central concentration of the high mass stars, which results in the flattened mass function inside the half mass radius.

In our current information-based society in which knowledge is a fundamental asset to production, the capability to utilize information and produce knowledge with the use of information technology (IT) has become essential to learning. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) have recently been introduced in light of such changes and are recognized as an alternative to open education. MOOCs' capabilities are being acknowledged in lifelong education in terms of reeducation and knowledge sharing, and also in terms of improving teaching quality, and improving university students' levels of creativity and integrated thinking by supporting high-level content and teaching. Therefore, this study presents an extended research model that combines information system (IS) continuance and task-technology fit models. Our study researches previous literature, revealing factors of continuous use after accepting MOOCs from the learner's perspective, and analyzes the model empirically. The ideal environment for MOOCs learners is evaluated, and a strategic approach to the successful settlement and diffusion of MOOCs is presented based on this study's findings.

미국에서 학교 수학 수업에서의 개방적 접근은 일본과 미국 연구자들의 공동연구의 결과물이다. 우리는 그것에 대한 세 가지의 측면을 실례로 살펴보면 접근을 시도하겠다. : 1) 개방된 과정(open process)(문제의 해답에 이르는 방법이 여러 가지이다: 2) 개방형 문제(open-ended problems)(문제에 대한 정답이 여러 가지가 될 수 있는 문제), 3) 일본에서 '문제로부터 문제(from problem to problem)'라고 불리는 것 혹은 문제고안(problem formulating)하기(학생들이 새로운 문제를 명확하게 나타내기 위해 자신의 생각을 써 내려 가는 것)수학 지도에서 일본의 개방적 접근에 대한 우리의 이해를 바탕으로, 우리는 미국에서 보다 효과적인 수학 지도를 위한 몇 가지 방법을 선택 적용해 보았다. 이러한 접근의 대부분은 학습 계획안을 만들 때 여러 교사가 함께 참여하고 일련의 토론과 수정과정을 거친 뒤, 많은 부분이 개선되고 효과적인 계획안을 만들어 낸다는 점에서 미국의 수학교사들에게 새로운 것이다. 또한 이 접근법에서는 교사가 문제를 해결하는 과정에서 학생 개개인이나 그룹을 활동적으로 관찰하여 그들의 활동을 비교하고 토론한다.

The purpose of this study is for providing the people with the objective method which estimates the various spatial configuration of primary schools in terms of teacher's screening through analyzing structural visual aspects of common classrooms and open corridors for multi-service of primary schools in Korea. In doing so, the study makes use of graphical solutions derived from the concept of 'Frame' which is one of Basil Bernstein's theories. As a case study, it deals with five primary schools designed for open-education. Throughout this investigation, it takes some numerical values of spatial characters concerned with 'Frame', and can have some conclusions about the relationship between the change of curriculum and the spatial configuration.

Compressive properties of the open cell 6063 aluminum alloy foams made by the plaster molding process were investigated before and after heat treatment. Loading process was controlled at a displacement rate of 2 mm/min. Compressive strength of 10 PPI foam was the largest of the same density foams. Increase in strength after heat treatment for the bulk material was remark able, however was not for the 6063 aluminum foam. C values were in the range of $0.39{\sim}0.53$ for as cast foams and $0.13{\sim}0.16$ for T6 heat treated foams in the equation of ${sigma}^*_{pl}/{\sigma}_{ys}=C({\rho}/{\rho}_{s})^{1.5}$ and increased with cell size.

Bluetooth is a popluar wireless data transmission method with low power consumption. In this paper, we present a open source based player of video stream encoded by H.264 codec, which is transmitted via Bluetooth. An open source JM is used for H.264 decoding and modified for reading H.264 encoded data via Bluetooth. For display of decoded video data, SDL was utilized.

In this study, we proposed the learning activities using open community systems to increase critical thinking and cooperative work. We designed and implemented the Wiki system that is an opened community and general Web-Board system that is a closed community. Then, elementary students had the critical essays activities using these systems. The results of the study are as follows. First, the critical thinking activities were happened more actively at the Wiki system than at the Web-Board system. And we found that the critical thinking dispositions were improved at the Wiki system after students performed the critical writing activities. The critical thinking activities also occurred more actively in cooperative groups than in studying individual groups. In conclusion, when the students learn with the open community like the Wiki system than closed community, it is hoped that they would participate actively and their critical thinking would be improved better.
