Overview of Special Educations for Gifted Students in Mathematics

  • Special educations for gifted students have not been given enough attention in Japan with a little exception. Indeed, such educations were sometimes despised in Japan by teachers and parents as well as by boards of education, because one of the features of postwar education system in Japan was an excessive egalitarianism. The other is cramming of knowledge in school education, which is necessary for high school graduates to pass entrance examinations for famous universities such as University of Tokyo, or Kyoko University. However, in 1997, some trials of special educations for gifted students started. The Ministry of Education, Sports, Culture, Science and Technology admitted 'skipping a year to enter universities.' In this paper, the following three topics would be discussed. 1. Enrollment of high school students aged 17 into Chiba University. 2. Summer seminars conducted by Japan Mathematics Foundation of Olympiad. 3. Super Science High School Program funded by the Ministry of Education.

  • STATISTCAL ANALYSIS OF SPORTS INJURY Seong-Ryul Hong R.P.T. Seoul School Health Center Hospital Upon comings of 1986 Asian Games and 1988 Olympiad in Seoul , Korean people have more enthusiasm for sports than any other time .It's very desirable that student athletes are doing thier best to train skills and to improve records for the coming 2 international sports events .I concluded as followings from the statistical analysis of 159 student athletes about sports injury who had been received Physiotherapy in School Health Center Hospital in Seoul from Jan.8 1982 to Dec,4 1984Track & field is the most common team among school sports team in Seoul.47 Students(30%) were injuried during football game, Career of sports injury: 88 students(55.3 %) were injured for the first time .Location of injury: More than 30% in both sexs were injuried in the Lumbar Frequency in injury in lower limb is higher than that of upper . Frequency of injury in upper right limb and lower left limb are higher than of counterparts6. Diagnosis: 32% of students were diagnosed as lumbago. Treatment period: 42.7% of students were healed within a week and 76.8% within 2 weeks

  • 본 논문에서는 국제 수학올림피아드(IMO)에서 최상위 그룹에 속해있는 한국, 중국, 미국의 수학 영재교육의 실태를 비교 분석하고 이들 국가에서는 수학 영재교육을 위해 어떠한 측면을 강조하고 있는지 알아본다. 또 최근의 국제 수학올림피아드(IMO)와 수학 과학 성취도 추이변화 국제비교연구(TIMSS)의 결과를 통해서 앞으로의 우리나라 수학 영재교육이 나아갈 방향을 알아본다.

  • The importance of tourism was recognized through the olympiad of 1988. Especially visual impacts like uniform make it more important to develop proper service system. Thus, the object of this study is to provide a renewal uniform policy of Korean restaurant. Here, the theoretical knowledge is applied into actual conditions, and found many problems as a result. 1. There are no recognition of the importance of uniforms. 2. No effort has been made in creating image suitable for traditional restaurants. 3. There has been no uniqueness and utility. 4. The uniform colors have not been coordinated working environments. 5. There have been some problems concerning uniform managements. These problems led to an idea of making new uniforms, and actual products has been producted as a part of the study. The products have focused an functional utility and tradition of Korean costumes. I hope my endeavor will be helpful for traditional Korean restaurants and developing of uniform design.

굼벨 분포 모델을 이용한 표절 프로그램 자동 탐색 및 추적 (Automated Detecting and Tracing for Plagiarized Programs using Gumbel Distribution Model)

  • 소프트웨어의 지적 재산권 보호 및 인증에 대한 관심과 중요성이 커지면서 소프트웨어에 대한 표절 탐색 및 보호, 판단에 대한 연구가 활발 하게 진행되고 있다. 지금까지 표절에 대한 연구는 주로 속성 계산, 토큰 패턴, 프로그램 파스트리, 유사도 측정 알고리즘 등을 이용해 두 프로 그램을 비교하는데 초점을 두었다. 이와 더불어, 표절과 협동(collaboration)을 구분하는 것은 표절연구에서 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 극단 치 분포 확률 모델을 이용한 소스코드 클러스터링을 위한 알고리즘을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 두 프로그램 먼저 두 프로그램 $P_a$$P_b$ 의 유사도를 측정하는 비대칭거리측정함수 pdist($P_a$, $P_b$)를 제안하고, 모든 소스코드 쌍에 대해 pdist($P_a$, $P_b$)를 통해 측정된 유사도를 간선무게로 하는 표절방 향그래프(PDG)를 생성한다. 그리고 본 논문에서는 표절방향그래프를 굼벨거리그래프(GDG)로 변환한다. pdist($P_a$, $P_b$) 점수 분포는 극단치 확률 분포로 잘 알려진 굼벨분포(Gumbel distribution)와 매우 유사하다. 또한, 본 논문에서는 의사표절(pseudo- plagiarism)을 새롭게 정의한다. 의사표절은 프로그램의 강한 기능적 제약사항으로 인해 발생하는 가상 표절의 한 종류이다. 본 논문에서는 ICPC(International Collegiate Programming Contest)와 KOI(Korean Olympiad for Informatics) 대회에 제출된 18개 프로그램 그룹의 700개 이상의 소스코드에 대해 실험을 진행하였다. 실험결과 프로그램 그룹에 포함된 표절 프로그램들을 찾았으며, 소스코드 클러스터링 알고리즘은 의사표절과 실제표절 프로그램 그룹을 효과적으로 구분하였다.

국제생물올림피아드 한국 대표 학생들의 훈련 성적과 국제생물올림피아드에서의 성적 비교 분석 I -이론 분야- (Comparison between Training and Participating Achievements of Delegetes of Korean Students I - Theoretical Part -)

  • 제 9회 국제생물올림피아드에 참가할 한국 대표 학생들과 국제생물올림피아드 참가자의 이론 문제에 대한 성적을 비교 분석하였으며, 한국 대표 학생 4명의 훈련기간 동안의 이론 성적의 변화 추이와 평균 정답율을 바탕으로 국제대회에서의 입상 가능성을 조사하였다. 또한 제 9회 국제생물올림피아드에서의 이론 성적을 훈련 성적을 비교하였다. 한국 대표 학생의 역대 기출 이론 문제에 대한 평균 정답율은 각각 78.15%, 77.16%, 80.97%과 76.99% 이었으며 전체 평균 78.32% 로 4명 모두 은메달 수준에 해당하였다. 그러나, 제 9회 국제생물올림피아드에서의 이론 문제에 대한 정답율은 각각 89.78%, 96.00%. 83.11% 와 77.33% 이었으며. 4 명의 전체 평균은 86.56% 로 훈련 성적을 상회하였다. 그리고 등위 백분율은 90.84%, 97.71%, 82.44%와 70.99%로 1명은 금메달, 3명은 은메달을 수상하였다. 이 결과로부터 생물 영재 교육 프로그램의 중요성이 강조된다고 할 수 있으며, 국제 대회를 위한 집중력 있는 훈련 프로그램의 필요성을 시사한다고 하겠다.

영재 캠프프로그램에서 수학영재들의 정서 변화의 사례 연구 (A case study of the emotional changes of the mathematically gifted during mathematics gifted camp program)

  • 중학생 수학영재들에게 적합한 캠프프로그램의 개발 및 운영에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여, 중학생 수학영재들의 캠프프로그램에서의 정서 변화에 대하여 연구하였다. 이를 위해서 한국수학올림피아드 겨울학교 입교생 4명에 대한 면담을 통해 겨울학교 기간 동안 수학영재들에게서 보이는 정서의 변화를 관찰하였고 수학영재들이 보이는 정서 변화의 특징이 수학영재 캠프프로그램 운영과 관련하여 교육적으로 어떤 의미를 지니는지 밝혔다. 수학영재들은 기쁨과 자랑스러운 마음으로 겨울학교에 입교하였으며, 입교 당시 기쁨으로 가득 차있던 마음은 모의고사 성적의 상대적 비교결과에 따라 큰 변화를 겪는다. 모의고사의 성적이 저조한 경우에 큰 실망은 하지만 더욱 큰 노력을 통해 실망감을 극복해내려는 경향을 보였다. 이는 이들의 수학적 재능과 능력에 대한 자기평가는 모의고사 결과의 좋고 나쁨에 전혀 영향을 받지 않고 매우 안정되어 있음을 의미한다. 캠프기간 동안 수학영재들이 보이는 정서 변화의 특징의 교육적 의미를 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이들은 능력별 집단편성에 대하여 긍정적으로 반응하였고, 둘째, 능력별 집단 편성 교육 시 정서적 측면의 배려와 지원이 필요하며, 셋째, 또래간의 교류기회를 확대할 필요가 있으며, 넷째, 숙달목표지향성에 초점을 두도록 유도하는 방안 필요하며, 다섯째, 수학에 몰입하는 것을 도와주는 환경 조성이 필요하다.

  • "Is a given boy or girl gifted in physics\ulcorner" That is a very complicated question and it is not easy to answer it as creativity and talents have many aspects. The lecture is devoted to analysis of several of them. In particular, we shall discuss the following points: 1) "Poets in physics". Some pupils have a seldom ability to create very beautiful, intellectual constructions starting from very few assumptions. Any building consists of commonly used bricks or other building elements, any book contains only several tens of commonly used letters or other graphic elements, also any painting may be created by appropriate use of several colors. Some buildings are nice, some not. Some paintings are beautiful, some not. Certain pupils, by appropriate use of several simple laws, are able to create beautiful constructions. They are like poets writing poetry by using several tens of letters known to everybody. 2) "Free hunters". Some pupils solve even very typical problems in a very untypical ways. Their independence in thinking is especially valuable. 3) "Small discoverers". Even very rich syllabuses do not contain whole physics. Some pupils e.g. during solving problems discover laws or rules that are absent in the syllabus. For example, some of them are able to make use of symmetry or dimensional analysis without any preliminary knowledge of that matter. The considerations are illustrated with different examples taken from physics or mathematics. The subject is very large and, of course, we are not able to present the problem in a complete way.o present the problem in a complete way.

Hard rock TBM project in Eastern Korea

  • The longest tunnel has been halted at Daekwanryung by the failure of the host country of the Winter Olympiad in 2014, but modern High-Power TBM will come to Korea to excavate these long tunnels to establish the better horizontal connection between the western and eastern countries to improve the strong powerful logistic strategy of Korean peninsula. Train operation provides a key function of air movements in a long underground tunnel, and heat generation from transit vehicles may account of the most heat release to the ventilation and emergency systems. This paper indicates the optimal fire suppress services and safety provision for the long railway tunnel which is designed twin tunnel with length 22km in Gangwon province of Korea. The design of the fire-fighting systems and emergency were prepared by the operation of the famous long-railway tunnels as well as the severe lessons from the real fires in domestic and overseas experiences. Designers should concentrate the optimal solution for passenger's safety at the emergency state when tunnel fires, train crush accidents, derailment, and etc. The optimal fire-extinguishing facilities for long railway tunnels are presented for better safety of the comfortable operation in this hard rock tunnel of eastern mountains side of Korea. Since year 1900, hard rock tunnel construction has been launched for railway tunnels in Korea, tunnels have been built for various purposes not only for infrastructure tunnels including roadway, railway, subway, and but also for water and power supply, for deposit food, waste, and oils etc. Most favorable railway tunnel system was discussed in details; twin tunnels, distance of cross passage, ventilation systems, for the comfortable train operations in the future.

都市大氣의 水銀動態와 影響因子에 關한 硏究 (Study on the Behavior of Gaseous Mercury and its Influencing Factors in Urban AMbient Air)

  • Atmospheric gaseous mercury was automatically measured by a mercury air monitor (Mercury monitor AM-1). The sample air was led to a scrubber and washed with buffer solution, and mercury was trapped with gold coated chromosorb P(AW) was successively eluted by heating the chromosorb and then detected by the cold vapor atomic absorption spectrophotometry. $SO_2, TSP, NO_x, CO, THC$. and some of meteorological factors were also measured simultaneously with mercury. A significant correlation between the concentration of mercury and those of 2,513 measurements, gaseous mercury concentration ranged from 4.73 to 112.8 $ng/m^3$ with an annual mean of 14.7$ng/m^3$ in urban area. At this place there was a clear seasonal variation with a maximuminDecember-January and aminimum in March-June. A secondary maximum existed in August to September. THe seasonal variation was found that the gaseous mercury in ambient air has a tendency to become low in spring and high in winter. Namely, the average of concentration in winter was about two times, 19.2 $ng/m^3$, higher than that in spring. In Seoul mercury levels on some months mainly Septermber-October increase with increasing relative humidity of the atmosphere. In Olympic park air levels were 8.2 (range 4.4-23.7)$ng/m^3$ with an coefficients of variation of 0.34 and in Seoul sports complex those were 7.7 (rnage 4.4-25.5) $ng/m^3$ with an coefficients of variation of 0.38 within the Seoul olympiad holding period of time. A significant diurnal mercury variation occurs both at the measuring sites and in the period of observation.
