탄-점성 압밀이론을 이용한 점성토 지반의 장기압밀 특성 및 적용성 (Long-term Consolidation Characteristics and Applicability of Soft Clayey Ground Using Elasto-Viscous Consolidation Theory)

  • When the industrial complex creation and the structures are constructed on the soft clayey ground, the long-term consolidation settlement greatly becomes a problem. In the present study, long-term consolidation tests to examine the change in the coefficient of secondary consolidation by the influence of the initial consolidation load and the influence of the consolidation load increment ratio($\Delta_p/_{p_0}$) in the normally consolidated state with an improved standard oedometer tester were examined. In addition, the finite difference method was executed by using one dimensional Elasto-Viscous model proposed by Yoshikuni et. al. From the result of the numerical analysis of the comparison laboratory tests, the applicability of the Elasto-Viscous model was verified from the agreement of the secondary consolidation process.

정지토압계수 측정에 관한 연구 1 (A Study on the Measuring about the Coefficient of Earth Pressure at Rest 1)

  • It is very important to determine the coefficient of earth pressure at rest accurately in order to estimate the behavior of soil structure. For estimation of K/sub 0/-value depending upon the stress history of dry sand, a new type of K/sub 0/-oedeometer apparatus is devised, and the horizontal earth pressure is accurately measured. For this study, 2 types of one-cyclic K/sub 0/-Loading/unloading models have been studied experimentally using four relative densities of the sand. The results obtained in this test are as follows : K/sub on'/ the coefficient of earth pressure at - rest for virgin loading is a function of the angle of internal friction Φ' of the sand and is determined as K/sub on/=1 - 0.914 sin Φ', K/sub ou'/ the coefficient of earth pressure at rest for virgin unloading is a function of K/sub on/ and over consolidation ratio(OCR), and is determined as K/sub ou/=K/sub on/(OCR)K/sup a/. The exponent α, increases as the relative density increases. K/sub or'/ the coefficient of earth pressure at rest for virgin reloading decreases in hyperbola type as the vertical stress, σ/sub v/’, increases. And, the stress path at virgin reloading leads to the maximum prestress point, independent upon the value of the minimum unloading stress. The gradient of this curve, m/sub r/ increases as OCR increases.

  • Understanding of an accurate state of consolidation of underconsolidated clay body, like a recently dredged or reclaimed clay deposits, is one of the most difficult tasks. The estimation of the consolidation status of these clay bodies is often made by laboratory tests of numerical analyses. However these methods demonstrated crucial limitations in the accurate prediction. Therefore, the predicted degree of consolidation from various techniques is verified by actual measured field data. The degree of consolidation of clay body in the East Side Hinterland of Gwangyang Port(2nd Phase) is evaluated in this study by using various techniques such as oedometer test, CPTu, numerical analysis and piezometer tests etc. And the results are compared each other to find the most reliable prediction technique. The merit and reliability of each method is discussed in detail. It is revealed from in this study that the estimation of degree of consolidation by an actual pore water pressure measurements is the most reliable technique.

피조콘시험결과를 활용한 OCR결정법의 평가 (Evaluation of OCR Prediction Methods utilizing PCPT Data)

  • 본 연구에서는 피조콘시험결과를 활용하여 점성토의 과압밀비를 결정하는 대표적 방법들을 비교 평가하였다. 비교 대상으로, 가장 대표적 방법인 Schmertmann 법, Chen and Mayne 법(콘베이스에서 측정하는 $u_2$ 법), Lunne 등 법 및 가장 최근에 발표된 Abu-Farsakh 법을 선정하였다. 각 방법의 비교연구를 위하여 인천항 지역에서 수행된 실내 및 현장시험 결과를 활용하였다. 고려된 모든 방법은 과압밀비를 과소평가하였으며, 그 중 Lunne et al. 법이 k=0.5 경우에 있어 가장 양호를 결과를 보여주었다.

  • Systematic finite element analyses on consolidation were performed with various drainage conditions. Numerical analyses were performed using SAGE CRISP2D, a commercial numerical analysis program for the conventional geotechnical engineering practice. For the input properties of the numerical analyses, incremental loading oedometer tests were performed on reconstituted kaolinite samples. Numerical analyses were performed with various drainage conditions such as vertical, radially inward and outward drainage conditions. For the case of radially inward drainage conditions, a series of numerical analyses were performed with varying the diameter of vertical drains. As a result, the lateral deformation and void ratio variation occurred during consolidation for the radially inward or outward drainage conditions. And the variations of the lateral deformation and void ratio did not fully disappear even after the completion of the consolidation and induced the spatial variations of the soil properties.   • Microstructural changes may arise due to the particle vanishing, fluid diffusion, heating, etc. This study focuses on the changes in small-strain shear stiffness in k0 loading produced by local straining in particular system made of sand-salt mixtures. Local strains were induced by dissolution of salt particles. Experiments were carried out in a conventional oedometer cell equipped with bender elements. Axial displacement and shear wave signals are recorded at each loading stage and during saturation process. Experimental data showed that microstructural changes due to particle vanishing were clearly captured by using shear wave measurement. Saturation of sand-salt mixture at a larger axial stress did not always create a more condense soil at the end of loading stage. Sand-salt mixture is useful for laboratory test on controlled artificial specimen.

  • Engineered mixtures composed of rigid sand particles and soft rubber particles are tested to investigate their behavior with strain level. Mixtures are prepared with different volumetric sand fractions (sf) to identify response using small strain resonant column, intermediate strain oedometer, and large strain direct shear tests. The small strain shear modulus and damping ratio are determined with volumetric sand fractions. The asymmetric frequency response curve increases with decreasing sand fraction. Linear responses of shear strain and damping ratio with shear strain are observed at the mixture of sf=0.2. Vertical strain increases with decreasing sand fraction. Mixtures with $04.{\leq}sf{\leq}0.6$ show the transitional stress-deformation behavior from rubber-like to sand-like behavior. The friction angle increases with the sand fraction and no apparent peak strength is observed in mixture without sf=1.0.

  • Myungji Housing Complex is located in the Nakdong River plain in which the Busan soft clays are developed. It has thick soft soil laver of about GL(-)50m including loose sandy layers, upper and lower clayey layers. The clayey layers have been being consolidated since the land reclamation was completed to build the place for Housing Complex(Apartment) in 1997. Therefore, as one of a series of advance preparations of this project, study was carried on the geotechnical characteristics under the foundation The first part of this paper represents a brief geological history. Then, geotechnical characteristics of clay was analyzed in the classical developments in soft clay. They were based on the geotechnical data obtained by site investigations performed from 1992 to 2005. Finally, we evaluated the average degree of consolidation at this point in time and the residual settlements of upper clayey layer using dissipation and oedometer tests for this project

  • 다주기 Ko-재하/제하 시에 수평응력의 변화특성을 관찰하기 위하여 7종류의 시험모형을 선 정하였고, Ko조건을 크게 만족할 수 있도록 특별히 고안한압밀링 형태의 Ko-시험기를 제작하여 실내 건조된 모래에 대하여 실험을 수행하였다. 시험모형은 동일한 재하/제하 응력의 반복, 최대선행응력을 초과하는 반복 재하/제하, 그리고 최대선행 연직응력 내의 반복 재하/제하 Ko시험으로 구분된다. 실험결과에서 다주기 이력모형도 역시 기존의 단주기 이력모형을 확대하여 사용할 수 있음을 보였다. 여기서, 제하시의 지수 (a 및 a*)와 재재하 시의 계수(mr 및 mr*)는 응력이력의 형태, 반복회수 및 상대밀도에 따라 주로 지배되었다.

  • The preconsolidation pressure has been commonly determined by oedometer test. However, it can also be determined by in-situ test, such as piezocone test with theoretical and(or) empirical correlations. Recently, Neural Network(NN) theory was applied and some models were proposed to estimate the preconsolidation pressure or OCR. However, since the optimization process of synaptic weights of NN model is dependent on the initial synaptic weights, NN models which are trained with different initial weights can't avoid the variability on prediction result for new database even though they have same structure and use same transfer function. In this study, Committee Neural Network(CNN) model is proposed to improve the initial weight dependency of multi-layered neural network model on the prediction of preconsolidation pressure of soft clay from piezocone test result. It was found that even though the NN model has the optimized structure for given training data set, it still has the initial weight dependency, while the proposed CNN model can improve the initial weight dependency of the NN model and provide a consistent and precise inference result than existing NN models.
