  • With the increasing utility of the recent information system, the methods to pick up necessary products rapidly by using a lot of data has been studied. Association rule search methods to find hidden patterns has been drawing much attention, and the Apriori algorithm is a major method. However, the Apriori algorithm increases search time due to its repeated scans. This paper proposes an algorithm to reduce searching time of frequent items. The proposed algorithm creates matrix using transaction database and search for frequent items using the mean number of items of transactions at matrix and a defined minimum support. The mean number of items of transactions is used to reduce the number of transactions, and the minimum support to cut down on items. The performance of the proposed algorithm is assessed by the comparison of search time and precision with existing algorithms. The findings from this study indicated that the proposed algorithm has been searched more quickly and efficiently when extracting final frequent items, compared to existing Apriori and Matrix algorithm.

  • The long term plan for apartment housing has a important role to make a decision making whether a repair work should be done or not. But, items for repair works are so various that field workers could not understand the context or plan the repair cost and time. These difficulties are drawn from the number of repair items, duplicated application and meaning, new material application and technology time-gap. Therefore, it needs to change or coordinate the repair items to improve the repair condition, reflecting the current material level or repair technologies. In this paper, it aimed at coordination of the repair items through the repair recording sheet which was surveyed in 22 metropolitan areas of Seoul, conducted between 2011 and 2014. The surveyed data are classified into six categories such as building exterior, building interior and so on, according to long term repair plan and the number of data are 1,918. It analyzed the appearing word for repair-concerned and compared the existing items of the long term plan. Items of building exterior are proposed as roof, exterior wall and painting. Building interior has a little meaning to propose the repair items. The water supply facilities are proper to keep the existing repair items. Items of the outdoor facilities could not need a sign board, drainage root and PVC sheath. Through this study, we can coordinate the repair items in apartment and provide the repair item and cost level.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the adaptability of U.S. multiple-choice items to measure Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching (MKT) in Korea. For this purpose, the authors selected the number and operations form B which was developed by Learning Mathematics for Teaching (LMT) project at the University of Michigan and then adapted items in terms of general cultural context, school cultural context, mathematical substances, and language in Korea. The survey was administrated to 77 Korean in-service teachers who had more than three years of teaching experiences. Based on the survey, the authors compared the data to that of U.S. teachers who had participated California's Mathematics Professional Development Institute. As a result, the survey measures less knowledge Korean teachers than more knowledgable Korean teachers and there are strong correlations of relative item difficulties between Korean teachers and U.S. teachers for both Content Knowledge (CK) items and Knowledge of Content and Students (KCS) items. This study implies the future direction for developing items to measure teacher knowledge as well as designing effective teacher education programs.

  • This paper deals with a kind of packing problem of which the goal is to compose one or more templates which will be used to produce the items of different types. Each template consists of a fixed number of slots which are assigned to the different types of items and the production of the items is accomplished by printing the template repeatedly. The objective is to minimize the total number of produced items. This problem is known to be NP-hard. We present a polynomial time approximation algorithm which has a constant approximation ratio. The proposed algorithm is based on the well-known first-fit strategy.

  • When the number of stockable item types is too large in certain large scale inventory operations, it is important to classify and screen out the items that need not be stocked; and for the low demand or high cost items, it may be preferable to use one-for-one-ordering policy. In this paper, the problem is formulated in somewhat easier terms, and a criterion is developed that can be used in deciding what items not to stock.
