DEFECT INSPECTION IN SEMICONDUCTOR IMAGES USING HISTOGRAM FITTING AND NEURAL NETWORKS

  • This paper presents an automatic inspection of defects in semiconductor images. We devise a statistical method to find defects on homogeneous background from the observation that it has a log-normal distribution. If computer aided design (CAD) data is available, we use it to construct a signed distance function (SDF) and change the pixel values so that the average of pixel values along the level curve of the SDF is zero, so that the image has a homogeneous background. In the absence of CAD data, we devise a hybrid method consisting of a model-based algorithm and two neural networks. The model-based algorithm uses the first right singular vector to determine whether the image has a linear or complex structure. For an image with a linear structure, we remove the structure using the rank 1 approximation so that it has a homogeneous background. An image with a complex structure is inspected by two neural networks. We provide results of numerical experiments for the proposed methods.

Effect of material mechanical differences on shear properties of contact zone composite samples: Experimental and numerical studies

  • Aiming at the mechanical and structural characteristics of the contact zone composite rock, the shear tests and numerical studies were carried out. The effects of the differences in mechanical properties of different materials and the normal stress on shear properties of contact zone composite samples were analyzed from a macro-meso level. The results show that the composite samples have high shear strength, and the interface of different materials has strong adhesion. The differences in mechanical properties of materials weakens the shear strength and increase the shear brittleness of the sample, while normal stress will inhibit these effect. Under low/high normal stress, the sample show two failure modes, at the meso-damage level: elastic-shearing-frictional sliding and elastic-extrusion wear. This is mainly controlled by the contact and friction state of the material after damage. The secondary failure of undulating structure under normal-shear stress is the nature of extrusion wear, which is positively correlated to the normal stress and the degree of difference in mechanical properties of different materials. The increase of the mechanical difference of the sample will enhance the shear brittleness under lower normal stress and the shear interaction under higher normal stress.

Carbon molecular sieves from soybean straw-based activated carbon for CO2/CH4 separation

  • Soybean straw (SS)-based activated carbon was employed as a precursor to prepare carbon molecular sieves (CMSs) via chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique using methane as carbon source. Prior to the CVD process, SS was activated by 0.5 wt% $ZnCl_2$, followed by a carbonization at $500^{\circ}C$ for 1 h in $N_2$ atmosphere. $N_2$ (77 K) adsorption-desorption and $CO_2$ (273 K) adsorption tests were carried out to analyze the pore structure of the prepared CMSs. The results show that increasing the deposition temperature, time or methane flow rate leads the decrease in $N_2$ adsorption capacity, micropore volume and average pore diameter of CMSs. The adsorption selectivity coefficient of $CO_2/CH_4$ achieves as high as 20.8 over CMSs obtained under the methane flow rate of $30mL\;min^{-1}$ at $800^{\circ}C$ for 70 min. The study demonstrates the prepared CMSs are a candidate adsorbent for $CO_2/CH_4$ separation.

The characteristic of Cu2ZnSnS4 thin film solar cells prepared by sputtering CuSn and CuZn alloy targets

  • Recent study shows that the main reason for limiting CZTS device performance lies in the low open circuit voltage, and crucial factor that could affect the $V_{oc}$ is secondary phases like ZnS existing in absorber layer and its interfaces. In this work, the $Cu_2ZnSnS_4$ thin film solar cells were prepared by sputtering CuSn and CuZn alloy targets. Through tuning the Zn/Sn ratios of the CZTS thin films, the crystal structure, morphology, chemical composition and phase purity of CZTS thin films were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with an energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and Raman spectroscopy. The statistics data show that the CZTS solar cell with a ratio of Zn/Sn = 1.2 have the best power convention efficiency of 5.07%. After HCl etching process, the CZTS thin film solar cell with the highest efficiency 5.41% was obtained, which demonstrated that CZTS film solar cells with high efficiency could be developed by sputtering CuSn and CuZn alloy targets.

Sperm DNA fragmentation and sex chromosome aneuploidy after swim-up versus density gradient centrifugation

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of swim-up and density gradient centrifugation (DGC) for reducing the amount of sperm with fragmented DNA, sex chromosome aneuploidy, and abnormal chromatin structure. Methods: Semen samples were obtained from 18 healthy male partners who attended infertility clinics for infertility investigations and were processed with swim-up and DGC. The percentages of sperm cells with fragmented DNA measured by the sperm chromatin dispersion test, normal sex chromosomes assessed by fluorescence in situ hybridization, and abnormal chromatin structure identified by toluidine blue staining were examined. Results: The percentage of sperm cells with fragmented DNA was significantly lower in the swim-up fraction (9.7%, p= 0.001) than in the unprocessed fraction (27.0%), but not in the DGC fraction (27.8%, p= 0.098). The percentage of sperm cells with normal X or Y chromosomes was comparable in the three fractions. The percentage of sperm cells with abnormal chromatin structure significantly decreased after DGC (from 15.7% to 10.3%, p= 0.002). The swim-up method also tended to reduce the percentage of sperm cells with abnormal chromatin structure, but the difference was not significant (from 15.7% to 11.6%, p= 0.316). Conclusion: The swim-up method is superior for enriching genetically competent sperm.

  • The results of comparison and analysis of dynamical features according to Jacquard structure are as follows. Regarding elongation(E) value in tensile property, the value in the direction of course was found to be larger in all Jacquard structure, except floating Jacquard, than the direction of wale. It could be found that, as to bending strength(B) in Bending Property, the value of bending strength in the direction of course smaller in all the textile(structure) except floating than the direction of wale, so that the ability of curve formation is excellent. And in case of floating Jacquard, it showed the smallest value in the direction of course and wale, so that it was interpreted as Jacquard having a soft feel. Blister Jacquard showed the highest value in both directions of course and wale, so that it was evaluated as Jacquard having the hardest touch. With regard to shearing character(G) and shearing hysteresis(2HG) in Shearing Property, Jacquard indicated the lowest value, so it was evaluated as the textile(structure) having high drape the transformation of whose fabric is easy. In addition, normal Jacquard, transfer Jacquard, blister Jacquard showed a high value, so that it could be known they are Jacquards having stiff touch. The study implies that normal Jacquard, bird's eye Jacquard, etc., which well stretch in the direction of a course like tubular Jacquard course, is better to make the margin a little shorter than the basic margin, and Jacquard that well stretches in the direction of wale like ladder's back Jacquard and floating Jacquard is better to make the margin longer and the length shorter than the basic margin.

  • To achieve the aim of this study, 9 different types of samples were made to examine mechanical property according to structured pattern and type of Machi of pullover armhole of WholeGarment(seamless knitwear). With respect to samples, from which comparisons are made and anaylzed among basic characteristics of material, tensile strength & elongation and residual elongation due to repeated extension of armhole connecting part, the following conclusions could be obtained. It's revealed that the tensile strength of Machi part as being armhole connecting part of samples is more affected by Machi type than pattern structure. Of Machi types, it showed stronger tensile strength in the order of Normal(Normal Machi)< Machi_B(unilateral Machi)

  • 본 연구에서는 대공간구조물의 기본적인 동적특성을 가지고 있으며 동시에 가장 간단한 구조이기도 한 아치에 납-고무면진 장치를 적용하여 지진거동을 분석하였다. 대공간구조물의 지진거동은 일반적인 골조구조물의 지진거동과 달리 수평지진에 의하여 수직방향으로 큰 지진응답이 나타나고 있다. 면진장치를 대공간 구조물에 적용할 경우에 수평지진하중에 의하여 수평방향 지진응답이 저감되는 것은 물론 면진장치의 수직강성으로 인하여 수직응답도 현저하게 저감되는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • 도시의 많은 교량 구조물은 내구연한 및 노후 상태에 따라 외형적 변형이 발생하고, 지진과 태풍 등은 노후 시설물의 변형을 더욱 악화시키고 있다. 불규칙하고 미세한 점진적 외형 변형은 육안으로 확인하기 어렵고, 시설물의 성능을 저하시키게 된다. 따라서 최근에 교량 구조물의 이상 거동을 실시간의 무선 방식으로 검지하는 기술이 연구되고 있다. 본 연구는 자이로스코프를 이용하여 구조물의 미소한 물리적 변화량을 실시간으로 측정하는 변위측정모듈을 개발하였다. 개발된 계측 모듈의 성능은 시뮬레이션 실험을 통해 검증하였다.

  • Tertiary Pohang basin distributed in south weatern part of the korean peninsula, is composed of Chunbuk formation as the basal conglomerate, Hakjon formation, Duho formation and intrusive basalt which is 15 Ma by absolute age data. The basement of the basin is represented by Cretaceous sedimentary rocks, Hakjon welded tuff and Chilpo welded tuff and rhyolite. The fault systems at the basement of the Pohang basin are consist of NNE direction fault, WNW to EW trend fault. NNE fault is not only strike-slip fault but also normal fault. n fault has sinistral strike-slip sene and the EW fault is strike-slip and normal fault. In the Tertiary basin, the fault system is represented by nm strike-slip fault, EW normal fault and NNE thrust fault. By these fault relationships and geometries, it is interpreted that NNE sinistral strike-slip fault and nomal fault have acted at Creceous times. At Tertiary tines, NNE dextralstrike-slip fault and EW normal fault has created. Progressively Tertiary Pohang basin was influenced by the trenspression to make thrust fault and fold, namely as inversion tectonics.
